Chapter Eight
Chloe woke up fairly early on saturday morning. She had to work tonight so she wanted to make sure everything was clean before she did that. Deciding to go for a morning run, she quickly put on her Nike running gear. She was just about to leave when she saw she had a couple of missed calls.
Noticing all of them were from Evee, she got worried. Either her colleague found out about Harry or of course, she got in trouble last night.
She saw that Eveline had left a few messages, the first two around eleven pm yesterday. The last one around two thirty this morning. Chloe quickly opened them, bringing her phone towards her ear. She heard the the woman say, "You have three new messages, the first message"
"You little sneaky bitch! I'm so angry at you right now! Guess who called me an hour ago? Oh you probably know already don't you. Harry. Prince Harry. Ring a bell? Of course it rings a bell! It probably rings all of your bells. I am not amused Chlo. Seriously, what the hell were you thinking?! I don't need you to give my phonenumber to men I barely know, let alone a member of the royal family. You have officialy lost your mind- here I thought I was the crazy one! What in your so sick mind made you think "Oh Harry is a right fit for Evee!" Let me tell you one thi-"
The message stopped, she obviously didn't have time to continue her rambling and had to call a second time.
"Stupid phone, goddammit. What was I saying? You know what he wanted!? A drink. With me. Oh hi Prince Harry just asked me out for a drink. I don't do a drink. I do drinks. Multiple. And that's the exact reason we will not get along. We do not fit. Did you even think about the consequences?! People will follow me around! Me! In my cyan vauxhall! How the hell do you say no to a prince! I was and am drunk and I said yes. O my god, I had a drunk phonecall with a prince. I am so angry at you! This is not over!"
Chloe stared at her American fridge with frightened eyes. Now that she thought about it, Evee was right. This wasn't just a drink. People would stalk her if the public knew. Evee doesn't do well with stalkers.
"Third message"
"Okay I am home right now." Chloe heard Evee's voice and instantly knew she was way more buzzed than she was at the first two calls. "I am holding your stupid white blazer. Did I tell you I hate white blazers? They're just. They're too white okay! My eyes dear god. I just want to burn this motherfucker."
Oh no, Chloe somehow knew her blazer would not survive this message.
"I will, I will burn it because I am so mad. You and your stupid size six blazer. I am a size eight. A size eight! Wait- this is a Calvin Klein blazer. These are expensive... FINE, I won't burn it. I will rub my naked arse onto it! You wait! I'm going to-"
Chloe heard something or someone fall in the background. Evee mumbled a 'shit' somewhere and then the call ended.
Chloe knew that she had to call Eveline. Just to make sure she was fine. She decided to call her now, even though the brunette knew Evee would be pissed at her for waking her up so early. Oh well, Evee was already pissed at her for giving her number to the prince. She held her phone to her ear and listened as it called Evee back.
Twenty minutes and 8 miles away, Evee was lying passed out on her kitchen floor, a half eaten chocolate pie next to her stomach. A faint noise in the background woke her up, "Urgh." The noise didn't go away and she realised after a minute that it was her cellphone. "Fuck" She cursed as her head pounded. Finally finding her phone, which was in her bra, she picked up without looking at the caller id. "What?" She mumbled.
"Are you alright?" A thick female British accent spoke.
"What? Yes? Why?"
"It's Chloe. You've called last night, three times."
"Oh yeah." Evee whispered, she hoped that if she closed her eyes the world would dissapear for just a minute.
"You really should lay off the whole bar thing Evee. It's not healthy anymore."
"If I'd have the energy I'd curse you. But I don't. Bye."
"Wait! You have a date tonight, please please please be atleast somewhat awake by then." Chloe regretted giving the prince Evee's number so much right now. She knew karma would bite her in the ass. She just didn't think it would happen so soon.
"A date?"
"Yes with the prince, remember?"
Evee groaned, Chloe was right. Did she even give him her adress? What time would he arrive? Would he pick her up? She didn't even remember all that well... It was something around sevenish... Probably her place around seven... Looking at her dirty appartment, Eveline's stomach turned around once more, she had to clean up.
"Chloe I have to go alright." Evee didn't even wait for a reply, she just hung up. Trying to balance herself, she grabbed the kitchencounter and pulled herself up. She first grabbed herself a glass of water, chucking it down her throat as fast as she could. She noticed Freds shoes by the door. He must be around. Her still covered in heels feet, dragged her towards the bathroom where she saw Fred sleeping in her bathtub. "Freddy" she poked his shoulder.
He didn't reply.
"Fred, you have to wake up. I need to shower."
She knew he was alive by his loud snores, yet he didn't wake up. Evee grabbed the showerhead and turned on the cold water.
Spraying it all over his head, Fred shockingly woke up, yelling "What the fuck!?"
"Sorry about that, I tried waking you up the normal way. I failed." Evee grinned as she saw the shadows under his dark brown eyes.
"That wasn't necessary, goddammit." He grunted, rubbing his eyes.
"It was, now get up. I need to shower. " The blonde replied, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
"What time is it?"
"Nine in the morning."
"What?! Fuck off Evee, let me sleep."
"No you need to go, I have things to do." She didn't remember telling the guys that she had an actual date last night. Atleast, she prayed that she didn't. She knew they would do everything to embarrass her. That is, if the date was with a normal guy. If they knew it was a prince, oh she would never hear the end of it. Evee with a prince. What a joke. She wasn't ready for that.
"What? You never have things to do on a saturday."
"Hey, I have a life besides you guys!"
"No you don't." Freddy grinned at her, throwing his arms around her waist.
Evee couldn't help but squeal as he tried to lift her into the bathtub. "No Fred, I'll hose you again! You shithead!"
He laughed in reply, "You'll get wet in the process anyways. Come on, let's get wet together Eveline."
"No" she chuckled, finally setting herself free from his grip. "I'm serious, you need to go. I have things to do today."
"Can we hang out tonight?" He questioned.
"No, I'm busy." Fred stared at her with unbelieve, in those two years, she was always honest with him. But now, now he had a feeling she was holding something back.
"What's going on?"
"Nothing Fred. I just. I'm having a drink with a mate, okay?" She didn't want to lie but technically she wasn't lying. She was just having a drink with someone. She didn't have any expectations for tonight so Evee didn't feel the need to explain herself anyways. She didn't have to share anything with him. Fred and her weren't a couple.
"A male mate?"
"Yes Fred, a male mate." She rolled her eyes. "Now get out so I can shower."
