Caturday by Mimi
warning! this contains a little profanity (like, one swear word)
It was a wonderful sunny afternoon in Paris and Marinette had no plans for that day. Alya had something to attend to with her mother, so Marinette decided to dedicate her day to designing in her room.
When Marinette opened the trap door to her bedroom, something black on her chaise got her attention. She took a double-take and let out a long, tired sigh. She stepped into her room and closed the door, standing before her chaise as she rubbed the bridge of her nose.
"Chat Noir, may I ask what you are doing in my bedroom?" The feline boy looked at her with one open emerald eye, a smile on his features.
"It's a warm, sunny, lazy day. What's a better way than to spend the day lazing it away?" Marinette almost face-palmed. "Besides, I thought I would grace you with my presence." He winked, before closing his eye.
"Clearly, you're mistaken." Marinette grabbed a pillow towards the end of her chaise and tossed it at Chat's head. He flinched, startled by the item but chuckled nonetheless.
"What's the paw-blem, princess?" He propped himself up on an elbow, looking at her with a smirk.
"You are, my dear Chat." She sighed once more as she took a seat in her chair in front of her desk.
"I'm no bother. Just a kitty sunbathing on the couch." He sighed happily, almost curling into a ball.
"And why can't you sunbathe at home?" she asked, picking up her stylus and turning her tablet on.
"My house smells like chemicals and the color grey. Here, it smells like... the rays of sun, freshly baked croissants and, my most guiltiest pleasure, you." By this time, Marinette had zoned out, looking focused on her design. She gave a hum in response and did what she did best, ignore him.
Chat Noir paid no heed, if she wasn't kicking him out, it was fine by him. As long as he was with her, he felt like his day was a thousand times better. Even though Ladybug was his number one solace, Marinette Dupain-Cheng was second best.
Chat watched Marinette for a while, the way her expression changed from frustrated to thoughtful, and the way she stuck her tongue out when she focused. He's never really paid attention to Marinette at school before, but now that he got to watch her doing what she does best, she was a captivating view.
Out of the corner of Marinette's eye, she could see the male barely stirring, his chest slowly rising and falling. She put her pen down and brought her gaze to Chat fully.
"Is he asleep?" Marinette asked quietly. On cue, the small god appeared from under some fabric on her desk, flying over to the black cat in the chaise.
"Out like a rock." Tikki smiled. Marinette giggled softly and went upstairs to her bed, grabbing a thin blanket and a pillow. She went back downstairs and to the chaise, looking at the black cat. He had an arm draped over his eyes and his lips were slightly parted as he slept. She heard a small beep and she looked at the ring in his right hand. The paw was missing all its toes and only had the palm left.
"Truly, you're hopeless, silly kitty." She spread the blanket over him.
"Do you want to know?" Tikki asked, looking at Marinette with a smile. Marinette hesitated but shook her head.
"Let's not ruin my Saturday." Marinette murmured as she propped his head in a way that she could place the pillow on his chest and face without suffocating him. "Sweet dreams." She gently ran her fingers through his hair and he groaned gently.
"Bugaboo.. Don't... don't leave," Chat mumbled sleepily.
"Rest. I'm not going anywhere," Marinette reassured him softly. Chat let out a quiet sigh and he shifted under the blanket, small snores coming from him.
Shortly after Marinette took a seat in her chair, she heard the final beep of Chat's miraculous ring and the green light was dimmed by the blanket as the small kwami fluttered out the ring.
"Ah! All that hard work has worked me into hunger!" The black kwami laid over the blanket draped over the boy, the boy oblivious. The small figure opened its eyes and looked around, finding a pair of eyes watching him intently. He stared at the human girl for the longest time – she seemed familiar but he couldn't put a finger on where. Not only, but he could feel the presence, magical presence, of another in the room. "Tikki? Is that you?"
"Sharp as always, aren't you, Plagg?" Tikki emerged from behind one of Marinette's pigtails, showing herself off to the small cat god.
"Only when the job demands it to be." The small kwami shrugged and joined the two of them at Marinette's desk. "Who is this?" he asked, looking at Marinette.
"This is Ladybug," Tikki replied, a teasing smile on her features. Plagg deadpanned, giving her a 'no shit' type look.
"I meant name."
"Marinette Dupain-Cheng," Tikki replied with a nod. The name rung an immediate bell.
"Wait, the Marinette Dupain-Cheng?" Plagg asked.
"The one and only?" Marinette replied confused, wiggling some spirit fingers. Plagg chuckled in disbelief.
"I've heard of you. I can't believe it. A—" Tikki was quick to shush him, shaking her head as a notification to Plagg that Marinette had no intentions of knowing today.
"Really?" Plagg asked before looking at Marinette. "Chat's been dying to meet you. I bet he would be more than ecstatic to find out he's visiting Ladybug."
"Well let's not bet and keep this a secret between us, yes?" Marinette asked, turning to her tablet.
"What's in it for me?" Plagg asked, crossing his little arms. Marinette looked at the small god with an annoyed. A light bulb went off in Tikki's head and she went to Marinette's ear, whispering something. Once she finished, Marinette nodded and went downstairs. Plagg narrowed his eyes at the closing door, before looking at Tikki suspiciously.
"What did you do?" he asked. Tikki giggled, floating around nonchalantly to him.
"Oh, nothing. Just something that will keep you quiet." She smiled innocently and scratched Plagg's chin. This elicited a purr from him and he leaned into her touch, but he was quick to move away and glare at her as she giggled.
Marinette came back with a wrapped package, Plagg watching her and the package suspiciously. That didn't last long though as Plagg's nose started working and his frown was replaced with a gasp.
"Is that—!" He hovered in front of Marinette but she moved it away from him.
"Here's the deal, cat, I give you the Camembert and you keep quiet. Deal?"
"Camembert, Camembert..." His paws wiggled as he tried to get closer to the cheese but Marinette held it up.
"Deal?" she asked, a little more firmly this time.
"Yeah, yeah, I'll take it to the grave," Plagg mumbled. Marinette narrowed her eyes at him, hesitating to give him the cheese. After a while, she caved with a sigh and opened the package, setting a roll of Camembert on the table for him. He hoarded the cheese, laying on it.
"Good, or else I'll take you to the grave," Marinette mumbled as she sat. She watched as the cat swallowed a piece whole, astonished. "Disgusting," she said quietly.
"One of the perks of being Ladybug, you don't have to smell like Camembert twenty four hours of the day," Tikki said, munching on a cookie.
"You wouldn't know delicacy if it bit you in the butt."
"Puh-lease. I feel bad for poor Chat, having to deal with you," Tikki retorted. Plagg gave a huff and continued to eat his cheese, remaining quiet for the remainder of the time.
Lunch time came around and Marinette excused herself, telling Plagg not to touch anything. Tikki said she would watch him and Marinette went downstairs.
"You know who he is, don't you?" Plagg asked, looking over at the boy laying at the chaise.
"I do," Tikki answered.
"Seems like she's a big fan." Plagg looked up at all the pictures and clippings she had around of Adrien.
"She's more than just a fan," Plagg mumbled and went over to Tikki, cuddling up beside her.
"I've missed you," he mumbled after a long period of silence. Tikki hummed happily, nuzzling into Plagg as well.
"It's been long, hasn't it?" Tikki agreed, patting Plagg between the ears. Plagg started to purr gently and eventually the two nodded off.
After a while, Adrien began to stir awake, stretching in the chaise and fell off. He quickly sat up, taking in his surroundings.
"Oh shit," he cursed under his breath. He fell asleep on Marinette's chaise and he slept long enough that his transformation wore off. "Plagg! Where are you?" Adrien wandered around Marinette's bedroom and found him sleeping on the table beside a couple of Marinette's designs.
"You up?" Plagg mumbled sleepily. Once Plagg realized Adrien was up and awake, he sat up quickly, looking for Tikki, who was nowhere in sight. He let out a relieved sigh.
"Yeah. Hurry, transform me." Plagg nodded and transformed Adrien into Chat Noir just as the door to Marinette's room began to open.
"You're awake." Marinette placed a tray on the floor before entering, closing the door behind her. She picked the tray up and went to her table, moving her tablet aside. Chat just watched her, speechless.
"I fell asleep."
"I know," she replied. He swallowed.
"Did you... Did you see?" he questioned her as she sat down.
"No. It's your secret to keep Chat, if you want to show me, you can. If you don't want to, you don't have to." She smiled up at him and Chat exhaled in relief, pulling her up into a hug.
"Thanks, Marinette." Marinette giggled quietly, patting his back gently. "Although... I do wanna show you," he said softly as he let her go.
"Let's save that for another day. Wouldn't want to ruin Caturday, right?" She smiled and he smirked. "I hope you're hungry, I've brought food." Chat gasped happily and kissed her on the cheek, before grabbing the food and eating.
"You know that food is the way to a man's heart." Chat spoke with his mouth full. He swallowed his food and smirked. "You trying to win my heart princess?" Marinette deadpanned although a pink hue tinged her cheeks.
"In your dreams, kitty."
