Chapter 2

    Janet's  POV

I  was grateful to the young man who returned my umbrella.

"Who was he?  How did he appear out of nowhere?"

    I frowned.

I needed to wear my hair down more.

I stood up and brushed the rain off my outfit as the bus finally arrived.

It was about time it got here. Goodness, it was only twenty minutes late this time.

I hoped my boss was in a good mood today. I could use this job.

I might be unattached, but I still held my own. I had an apartment, no car, and some might say no future.

As I got on the bus, I sighed.  It was going to take at least another fifteen minutes to get to work on account the driver was an elderly man and drove slowly. He said,  "It is due to the rain."  I  felt as if he might do the same even if the sun were out.  I mean why else was the bus late regularly?

I   could walk to the office.  I mean it was not heard of and besides, if I did I would worry someone might mug me.

I was a real piece of work.  Yeah, such a great art piece. No wonder my last boyfriend ditched me when he found out, I  never finished my college degree, that my father died of cancer years ago and that I was not ready for a commitment yet.

I knew that was years ago. I also knew my boss tried to set me up with his son.

As if I  would ever go for that no.  No way, would I ever date that boy.  I could not bring myself to date the boss's relative not in a million years.   I rather die first.

I arrived at my workplace late.  No surprise there.

I got on the elevator and made it to my cubicle before my boss could notice that I was not behind my desk. I breathed a sigh of relief. So far, so good.

I   turned on the computer and went right to work.

As I did the voice and face of the stranger who helped me earlier that day would not seem to leave my head.  Why not?   I could make sense of it.  I did not know his name.  He did not know mine and I probably would never see him again.

Too bad, he was rather cute.

To be honest, what do you think of this chapter, or story so far?  I hope you like it.

   bye-bye, little owlets!
