Day 5: To a deceased person you wish you can talk to
Dear grandpa,
I've heard so many stories of you from my dad, my brother and sister. They're all really good ones, from when you're young to your last breath, as a father and as a grandfather.
You looked like a kind and caring man from the picture my dad kept. It's quite a shame that I couldn't get the chance to even meet you or talk to you, since you've passed on when I was born. I've never experienced a grandpa's love, and I really want to, since usually grandfathers spoil their granddaughters right? I've heard from my brother and sister how much you spoiled them. Always giving them snacks every time they visit you, carrying them and taking a stroll quite often, defending them when grandma was a little mean. Too bad I didn't get a chance.
Putting that aside, I do wish I can talk to you. From the stories, you seem to be a wise person. You're quiet, you don't say unnecessary things, but you know what's going on and when to say the right things. You never act unjust too. Most importantly, I can see how much my dad looks up to you and misses you. Just from that, I wish I could talk to you and go to you for advice.
I've also heard that you knew who was sincere and who wasn't. Even nearing your deathbed, you favoured my mom over your own daughters, since they weren't even willing to take care of you, their own father, while my mom did. I guess I am also grateful of how you treated my parents fairly and how they were supposed to be, as opposed of how badly the others treated them. Thank you.
I also wish I could have heard some stories of my dad from you. It would have been cool. We could even watch some soccer together since my dad said you liked them.
I wonder how it would feel like to not just talk, but have you around so I can spend time with?
I hope you're doing well up there. And perhaps I'll see you when it's my time to leave this world.
Much love,
Jas.
