Hey guys! Sorry for the relatively short chapter. The school has been getting slightly in the way! Thought I would post this as I have no ideas right now whatsoever.
(Please remember this book is pure fluff. )
"So then Anakin, being himself, decided to run off without me." Ahsoka tapped a pen on the table. Rex responded with a small "yep", continuing to sip his fourth cup of caf. Ahsoka studied his tired face and slacking posture.
"Didn't I tell you to get some sleep?" She said while tapping his shoulder. Rex stared blankly back at her. "Yep. You did." he smiled.
"Then why didn't you sleep?!" She responded, clearly annoyed.
"To get a reaction from you." he chuckled, talking almost truthfully. Ahsoka gave him a look.
"Fine then." she stared. Leaning over slightly, Ahsoka snatched the cup and quickly downed the remaining coffee. Rex stared at her blankly until he finally realized what she was doing.
"Hey! That's mine!" Rex grabbed the cup only to find it was empty. Ahsoka wrinkled her nose in disgust. "Why do you like it so bitter?" she grimaced. Rex sighed.
"Because I have to deal with clones and Jedi like you." He replied, pulling Ahsoka into a hug. Ahsoka did not expect it and felt herself falling backward, clamping onto Rex as she tried to break her fall. Instead, she pulled them down together.
"REX!" She yelped as the two fell to the ground. Ahsoka's back hit on the floor, but it didn't hurt any. It was weird. She looked over to Rex who was laughing loudly next to her.
"Woah there Ahsoka are you sure you aren't the one who needs to sleep. You just collapsed." Rex said mockingly. "I told you to sleep hours ago."
Ahsoka hit his chest. "Hell, like I'm the one who needs to sleep, you fell too. We wouldn't be in this situation if you just went and slept like a normal person." Ahsoka's face was cracking from its usual sternness and was being replaced with a strapping smile.
"Ouch what was that for!?" Rex said, offended.
"Oh like you don't know," Ahsoka said softly. "Or is that thick head of yours unable to understand that, like when it's time to sleep." Ahsoka reached out to tap her knuckles on Rex's head. Rex grabbed his head protectively.
"Ahsoka as a clone, you learn you don't need sleep until you're either dead or pass out from exhaustion. As of yet, neither of those have happened I think it is evident that I don't need sleep."
"You will pass out from exhaustion if you keep this up though!" Ahsoka said knowingly. Rex shrugged slightly.
"Don't worry about it, Soka. I'll be fine. Done it way too many times to even count."
"And now you got me worried. What if you just pass out while fighting droids and when you wake up act as nothing happened and go on your way?" Ahsoka said accusingly.
Rex pondered that for a moment before responding. "Yeah, that sounds about right. When I'm not sleeping, I'm playing dejarik with Grievous." Tipping his head further to the side to better face Ahsoka. "You should try it sometime."
Ahsoka threw her head back laughing, "Yeah I'm good. Playing games, or fighting Grievous isn't on my list of things to do. And neither is passing out from sleep deprivation like one crazy captain I know." She sounded a little happier.
"Great, so we call this even?" Rex asked.
"I didn't say that. You sir still need sleep. And as a Commander and outranking you, I not so respectfully order you to sleep "
Rex chuckled.
"'In my book, experience outranks everything.'" Ahsoka said menacingly. "And my experience with sleep seems to be a lot better than yours so I'm gonna make you experience it as well." she said, not holding any sass back.
"Well, what if I don't want to experience it?" Rex said haughtily.
"Well then we will do it right here," Ahsoka said plainly.
"Right here, on the floor?" Rex questioned.
Ahsoka shrugged. "Why not?" Ahsoka and Rex scooted closer together. Rex gently rested his head on top of Ahsoka's montrals. Ahsoka smiled happily.
Off on the side where the couple couldn't see, Dogma had entered the room. Lifting the holo-pad in his hand he quickly snapped a photo. The clone stared at the scene for a little more, before backing out, acting as nothing happened. But there was more to it. Much more.
And he knew.
