Ahsoka stared at the leader for a second longer. She was strong and had many scars to prove it. But her face told a different story. Her eyes were soft, and caring, almost a scary difference from her appearance. Ahsoka looked to her force signature and found a balance of calm, conflict, confidence, and hesitancy. She was simple but protective.

"Yes. My name is Ahsoka Tano, padawan learner and part of the Grand Army of the Republic and Jedi Order. These are my men, Captain Rex, and Corporal Jesse. I have two others currently searching for this village but in other places. We had to split up to find you." She bowed, trying to be careful with every action. The slightest of things could throw off their acceptance of the Jedi. Just like her master had said. They had only started to accept them a day ago.

The chief took a good look at both Rex and Ahsoka, her eyes silently searching and judging the two. "Enough with the formal. We have no time for that." Her long frosty white hair whipped in the wind. "Now, what brings you here?"

Ahsoka looked at Rex out of the corner of her eye, then back at the Chief. "We've come bearing good news. The Separatist have been driven from the area, and no longer look to be a threat. Our ship the Resolute is stationed here for a few more cycles to make sure nothing else happens to you, and everyone under your protection." She reported.

The chief stood tall and listened, not moving an inch from her position. The wind violently whipped through the valley, picking up snow and flinging it in front of the two groups.

"Very well then," she responded, the small crowd forming around the strangers. Rex looked at Ahsoka then back at the chief.

"Let's get going, we gotta go dig Fives and Echo out of the snow. Force knows where they are by now." Rex kept his hand protectively on his twin blasters.

Ahsoka wanted to stay and ask a few questions about her people, and daily life but it was clear that she was wearing out her welcome.

"Thank you for your time." She bowed again, despite the words of the leader.

A few whispers and gasps rang out from the crowd as the Jedi and Chief stared at each other for a tense moment. From the crowd, there was a small shout and the crunching of snow under their boots.

Ahsoka peeled her eyes into the crowd. She hoped no Sepertist spy had snaked their way into the group of people but it was a logical idea. Rex had gripped one of his pistols and had it pointing at whatever was coming.
Ahsoka whipped her head around, staring at him "At ease." she hissed trying not to ruin their reputation.

Rex stared at her, contemplating whether or not to listen, but quickly placed his blaster back in the holster. Ahsoka turned back to the now large crowd and stared at who would step forward.

But instead, a pair of blue eyes poked out of the crowd. It was a small Togruta almost identical to Ahsoka. She smiled largely and ran towards the padawan, a small Tooka doll in her hands.

Ahsoka watched as the small girl stopped at her feet and looked up with a large smile. "Hello little one," Ahsoka said, getting down one knee to reach the small girl's height. Watching her smiled as the child's face lit up.

The smaller Togruta stuttered a bit unsure of what to say. Instead of using words, she threw herself into Ahsoka wrapping the Jedi into a hug. Ahsoka stood shocked for a moment, unsure of what to do. She looked up to Rex for guidance, but he just shrugged and looked back to the crowd.

Ahsoka smiled, hugging the child back in hopes of her detaching. The smaller Togruta let go, backing up a step or two. Ahsoka smiled. "What's your name, little one?" she placed her hand out.

"Sonaa!" she mumbled, still not fully understanding.

"It's nice to meet you, Sonaa. Do you know where your parents are?" She looked back at the crowd. Sonna nodded. Ahsoka patted her head. "I have to go. I have brothers that need me " she tried to urge Sonna back to her parents.

But the Togruta refused to go back. Rex chuckled. "She's like a mini version of you Commander. The attitude and all." Jesse let out a laugh.

"Yes, yes, very funny Captain." Ahsoka rolled her eyes. Sonna continued to stare up at Ahsoka in awe. Looking down at her doll, Sonna placed it in Ahsoka's hands, her eyes twinkling with excitement.

Ahsoka looked down at the object in her hands. It looked like the one she was given by Plo Koon when she was small. Dusting a bit of snow off of it Ahsoka smiled, handing it back to Sonna. "I used to have one like that. An old friend gave it to me." She remembered the first time she was in the temple.
That was short-lived. Something in the force yelped, she could tell something was happening.

Without thinking, Ahsoka scooped Sonna up and flipped back, right as a blaster bolt hit the snow. Right, where Ahsoka and Sonna were seconds ago. Rex and Jesse grabbed their weapons, scanning the landscape. There was nothing in sight except for a small number of buildings and snow.

"I can't see anything in this snow Commander." Jesse said, keeping his guard up.

Ahsoka looked through the force. There were at least fifty signatures for her to sort through. But one was misplaced. It felt like they were staring through her soul. She shuddered. Cursing herself quietly for not sensing something was amiss; she scanned the roofs of the small log houses, spying someone on top of one, staring right at her in amusement.

"Over there!" She shouted pointing to a sniper positioned on the roof. Placing Sonna down, Ahsoka sprinted towards the building, a path clearing quickly through the crowd. Gasps, and a few scared yelps rang out as Rex and Jesse followed right on the heel of their commander.

The snipper slid down the slick roof, and as soon as they landed on the snowy ground they took off running. They were incredibly fast for how short they were. Ahsoka, still running towards the snipper, calculated how long it would take her to reach them.

She still didn't know the vantage points or any other exits so not long. Suddenly the snipper slipped on the snow landing smack on the ground. Swiftly Ahsoka jumped over, using the force to push her forward. Igniting one of her lightsabers she landed on top of the snipper.

"Cease all hostility. And you will be spared and given a fair trial for your actions." Ahsoka said as she held her lightsaber close to his neck, but not close enough to hurt the humanoid. At least not yet. The snipper through gritted teeth said, "Like hell you would. I know your type, you say that and then you kill people unfairly, without mercy."

"Wha-," Ahsoka started denying when the humanoid suddenly grabbed Ahsoka's arm that was holding her lightsaber and maneuvered it out of her hand. Using the slippery snow the snipper slid under Ahsoka. Ahsoka cursed herself again for letting the snipper get the advantage over her. Turning around she ignited her second saber and faced her opponent.

The humanoid was holding her lightsaber awkwardly. Like her saber was trying to free itself from him. Ahsoka could feel the heat radiating off of her own blade to close for comfort.

Rex and Jesse were able to quickly catch up and started to fire off shots. But to avail. Whoever this was, they were experenced. And that was when Ahsoka realised this was going to be a battle. Her and him. And with that the sniper with one green lighsaber frustradedly ran towards her. Ahoska could feel the hate, frustration, anger, and saddness flow from him. It made her want to vomit at how much hatred this one person could have packed up.

Quickly Ahsoka blocked the first stab, responding with her own move that he older human easily missed. He wasn't a sith, at least not one Ahsoka had ever seen.  But he fought just like one. She could easly tell the dun moch form apart from the forms she had been taught. He was taunting her, comfortable enough to challenge her. Ahsoka felt the force bounce unexpectatly but didnt have any time to think about it.

Rex had haulted his fire, instead stepping back in hopes that the jedi had it all in control. She was trying but slightly struggling. He was strong, and could get bare inches from slashing her into peices. Ahsoka felt a weird anxietly that she had always felt when she fought a sith. Like something terrible was happeing or was to come. It messed with her head, and her form became sloppy.

The human ran up, plunging his blade down, Ahsoka's barley blocking it from her skin. The sabers bubbled and crakled as she used all her strenght to try and push it away from her. " You... You took it all from me. You and your Jedi killed my parents. YOU LEFT ME TO RAISE MY SISTER AND LEAD EVERYONE! " he shouted, agitatedly.
Ahsoka felt a tinge of guilt, but couldn't give in. " I don't want to fight. Put the lightsaber down and we can talk " she gathered enough strength to kick him in the stomach long enough to back up, slipping in the snow.

Now wasn't the time.  Ahsoka felt a boot on her back. She heard the sound of blaster fire. She heard her saber breaking the bolts. Her blood ran cold. " And for that, you will pay " her saber hissed. Closing her eyes tight she muttered a small prayer, excepting what would happen. She would become part of the force once again. But instead, the sniper fell cold to the ground, her saber revolving back into its holt.

Ahsoka snapped her eyes open and looked up. " Wow, Commander. You let a civvie beat you? " Fives stood confidently above her. The Jedi smiled. " Boy am I glad to see you Fives. " the ARC helped her up. Rex and Jesse came out of their hiding spots and the four regrouped. " Looks like we found our Seppie spy " Echo rolled the male over with his boot. Ahsoka streched. " That was close to close. " She caught Rex brown eyes but quickly looked away.

Standing up Ahsoka looked into the distance. There stood the Chief, the people of her village gone. Ahsoka stepped forward and so did the chief. " Sorry for running around in your village. But I think ive found why the Sepertist were here in the first place. " she looked back as Rex was putting binders on the sniper. " He's a Sepertist spy. "

The chief looked saddened and her eyes looked hollow for the briefest second. " That is my brother Dakota. Our parents were killed by a sith many years ago. He was struck and something in him just clicked. He hated me. And he started to hate the very people who saved him. " She closed her eyes calmly speaking.

" My name is Kaniya, leader of this village, and Ex Padawan. I fled after my entire squad was killed, not one was left alive. The only reason im alive is because of the force, and my brother. I came here to start a new life. Away from the war. Away from everything. Pretended I didnt know anything about the war or where I had come from. It was all just a distant dream. " She looked down into the dark snow.

" I thank you for your help. My brother had been planning to kill me. Take this village as his own. Give it straight into the hands of the separatist. I cannnot offer you much, as this village is now at risk for another strike. But I can send you my best wishes, and the last reminders of my past life. " Kaniya took Ahsoka's hand.
The Jedi flitched slightly at her icy cold hands. Her whole squad is gone. Ahsoka couldn't bear to think of it. Seeing the 501st and 223 gone, slaughtered like animals. It stung her heart with sympathy for the Ex jedi.

Kaniya reached into a small pocket in her Poncho, grabbing two items and placing them into Ahsoka's hand. She carefully folded them and looked Ahsoka in the eyes. " There is a small cave and cover on the Northern side of the hill. It is not safe to travel at night.  I can provide some blankets and food but other then that, I have to return to my duty " she sweetly smiled before turning around and walking back I to the snow.
Ahsoka stared at the blinding while landscape for a second longer, before unfolding her hands. Inside was a small beaded chain, a white and green feather sticking from the top. But the other thing she saw made her want to cry. It was an old lightsaber, chrome with silver accents, it's hilt a unique shape. Ahsoka held it firmly in her hand, igniting the blue blade. She stared I to it for a second able to sense the desperate and sad reality of Kaniya's life. Turing back to the snow Ahsoka then realized she couldn't save everyone. And they not everyone could return back.

" May the force be with you, Padawan Kaniya "
