The Door to Dreams

My mother kissed my brother.
My father brought us water;
As I listened to the rain
Falling on my window pain.

The grin they gave as we tucked in
Was like a hug all warm within.
I knew their love was ours to keep,
As we began to fall asleep.

I wonder at the thunder.
I ponder as I wander,
As I travel off to bed
And unravel words in my head.

The door to dreams it seems to me;
A place of fun and fantasy.
I float, I fly, I laugh and sigh.
I watch the clouds drift on, right by.

Trees growing and winds blowing,
Limbs swaying and kids playing.
I am swimming in the air
We are living without care.

The sun comes up; I get up too
And mom has made us all some food.
Dear dad; he has coffee with cream
This is really my door to dreams.
