I froze as I heard those words leave Garroth's mouth. I forced myself that I was hearing him wrong, having to do a double take, "Come again?"
"I didn't feel that with Aphmau." The blonde repeats. I was taken aback without a single doubt. My thought on love could be inaccurate, but if Garroth didn't feel even one of those things with Aphmau yet claimed to love her, then what was he feeling?
Though it may not be my place to be, it doesn't hurt to ask. . . Right? "What do you mean you 'didn't feel that with Aphmau'?" My left eyebrow cocks, obvious suspicion in my expression.
Garroth shrugs like it was nothing, his mouth having an 'It Doesn't Matter. Why Do You Care?' look carved into it, "I just didn't." He answers simply, his voice not having any sign of distress or distant tone to it.
"Then why'd you claim to love her?" Questions were starting to pour from my mouth. If not already known, I'm a pretty curious person. This is interesting to me, seeing as my best friend THE Garroth Ro'Meave claimed to be in love with a girl, but then says 'Oopsies. I was wrong.' only a month or two after breaking up with her. Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't make sense.
"I thought I did love her." Garroth admits, "But I didn't feel really anything that you described." A small second pause interrupts his sentence, "Maybe it's just me forgetting what it was like to be with Aphmau, but I don't remember feeling that." He exclaims.
"Well, that doesn't make sense to me," I start, "But I can't tell you how to feel." I blow a strand of hair out from my face after speaking.
Garroth didn't reply after that. Just by looking at his expression, I could tell he was deep in thought. His eyebrows were now furrowed and he had an 'I Could Kill You If I Wanted To' look on his face. He was staring blankly at the wall, a serious undertone resting in his eyes.
His thinking face was pretty weird. It was like this look of pure anger, but you can't really change it. It seemed as if he didn't even know he was making it, so I wasn't going to say anything. Besides, I've seen it many times before. It's nothing new.
That look of thought left him as reality seemed to come back to him. His expression softened and he looked like his normal, chipper self. "Whatcha thinkin' about there?" I ask as our eyes meet.
"Just. . . Everything." Garroth answers, "Aphmau mostly." He adds. I inhale, my chest rising. It stays like that for a moment before descending as I exhale.
"What about Aphmau?" I question, looking for more information than just 'Aphmau mostly', "Well. . . Just how I thought of her and how it really feels. . ." The blonde replies, "Do you mean 'it' as in love?" My lips purse briefly after I speak.
Garroth nods in response, "Yea. . ." He pauses for a quick second, "It's just a lot to take in." The blonde finishes, "Garroth," I start, "You know I could be inaccurate. . . Right?"
"I know that. . . But what you said is just like what everyone else has said about love. How it's so magical and lovey dovey."
"I just don't want to lead you into thinking of love a certain way. Since I've only felt it once, like I said, I could be highly incorrect." I could feel my heart beating lightly as I spoke, me searching Garroth's expression for any sight of useful emotion.
"You said you've been in love. . ." Garroth starts, "With who?"
Oh Irene . . .
