Chapter 3

    3rd person's Pov

That noise again, there it was again.
Chirin couldn't breath either. Something was definitely happening.

It sounded a lot like squelching and screeching noises, you know the sounds of metal clashing?

Yeah, that one along with playing with someone's guts.

The noises seem to have stopped a while ago, the first thing she moved was her toes and her fingers. Once she had confirmed that she was okay, she opened her eyes and began running her hands all through her body to make sure she was alright because Danzo-sama wouldn't like it if she was damaged any further.

  Nope, good as new.

She got ready and walked out of her room, there the old man was, sitting on the table, patiently waiting for her on the table was a sheet of paper.

“Now Chirin, this paper you see here,” he moves the paper in her direction, “Is your test paper right now, this paper decides your rank in class, you also have to pass some test training to decide that. The teacher is coming by in the afternoon.” Chirin took a seat, nodding her head.

“Make sure you get into the same class as Uchiha Sasuke, I need you to be powerful and keep tabs on him, alright?” he said.

“As you wish, Danzo-sama. It will be my duty.” she said bluntly.

He stood up along with his cane, giving her that glare. “I expect good results from you. Failure will not be permitted. The punishment will be much worse than the last time, understand?”

She didn't dare look at him, she bowed, “Yes, Danzo-sama.”

He turned his back, opening the door and once it shut, Chirin got to work on the test, ignoring breakfast.

10 minutes have passed, Chirin sat the quill down. Rechecking her answers, once she deemed them to be correct, failing some on purpose. If she got all the answers right, she wouldn't be in the same class as Sasuke, instead she would be with the graduating class which is what Danzo-sama wouldn't want.

The pale girl got up and began to make breakfast, a balanced diet.

Omurice, green apple, lots of water, and then she had some lettuce.

After breakfast, she cleaned her room and studied some more.

    She felt so… bored?

Is that what Naruto called it? The feeling when you don't know what to do?

That's probably it, but Danzo-sama said no emotions. Remembering the last time she showed emotions.

They pushed her down and held her there with force.

“Do you know what your punishment is?” Danzo-sama sounded very angry as he stared at the girl he adopted, a girl with clearly no memory.

“Showing emotions.” the girl replied blandly.

“Correct. As a result, you get ten lashings.”

One of the root Anbu gave Danzo a black rope made out of coal and leather.

Danzo did handsigns, the fire appeared on the black rope.

Chirin felt as if something like this happened before.

He threw the rope and slashed her hand, open palm. She forced herself not to flinch, keeping her face blank.

Another slashed on her palm then another, and another, and another. After all the lashings, he did the handsigns in reverse which made the flame fade away and gave the rope back to the Anbu who put it back in its proper place.

He walked out of her sight, but before he left, Danzo said, “Clean yourself up, a wounded shinobi, no matter how serious the wound is, knows how to patch themselves up.”

Chirin felt no hate for him other than the pain which now had caused her hands to feel numb.

They were charred black, bloodied, and bruised severely bad.

The only thing she wondered is what she can do to make him proud of her.

The girl stood up, she found a box of first aid and begun to fix her hands, she would wince when she put the antiseptic on it properly and then the bandages on it slowly.

Once done, Chirin took the box with her and entered the house alone.

She put the first aid kit in her drawer, she didn't sleep until her eyes forcefully shut themselves.

Looking at the kitchen mirror, or more so.

Her own expression.

Her face looks like one of the people in the books, sad and disappointed in herself.

Her eyes widen, when did she get into the kitchen?
Just now, she was in her bedroom.

Chirin checked her surroundings, nothing unusual other than herself and the chakra of the people outside.

A knock on the door alerted her, she retreated back to her usual face.

The white haired girl opened the door and was greeted with a man whose hair is similar to hers, but more dull and shorter.

His smile seemed forced and his eyes didn't seem friendly, they seemed full of hate.

   “Are you Shimura Chirin?”

The man spoke with a voice different from the others.

  “Yes, sir.” she said.
She let him in, going back to the kitchen where she left her test, Chirin picked it up and handed it to him. “I'm Mizuki, I'll be your teacher for today.”

She nodded, he took the paper and skimmed over it twice.

“That's excellent, only if it hadn't been for the rest of the answers. You studied well!” his praise was real, but sounded like he said it a lot.

“Thank you, Mizuki-sensei.” Chirin bowed then straighten her back, Mizuki scrapped out of the chair, heading to the door.

“Follow me, we'll be going to the academy for the training regime.”
She said nothing in return, but followed him after she closed the door.

She saw two girls arguing over something, as Danzo-sama said. ‘It is pointless to talk with girls like them, ninja girls like that will die faster.’

Chirin ignored them and continues ahead with Mizuki.

Once they had entered academy grounds, Mizuki had given the frail girl a lap around the school, 20 push-ups, and 30 sit-ups. Next, he made her take a shuriken practice, she passed. The rest of the shuriken had fallen into the bushes on purpose.

“Alright. One more test, you'll be battling someone hand to hand combat. You can come out now!”

A girl with purple hair appeared, she shyly twiddled with her fingers. “He-hello.” the girl stuttered. “This is Hyuuga Hinata, your sparring partner.” he said with a clipboard in his hand.

  “Are you guys ready?”

 “H-hai!/Yes, sir.”

Both of their girls got into their stances, but Chirin’s stance caught Mizuki's attention.

Her stance, her upper body leaned down a little like a lion ready to pounce and her arms were a little bit behind her, she leaned on her right leg. That stance would look funny to others, but to a trained eye, it's not.

What's worst of all is her eyes, she looked ready to kill Hinata like she was used to this

“R-ready!” Mizuki stuttered, a little hesitant to watch and wondered if Danzo trained his granddaughter like this. To be like him, but better.

Hinata made the first move, Chirin dodges the palm Hinata shot at her, the white haired girl's left wrist shot up under Hinata's arm then she made quick work of Hinata by using her other hand and flipped Hinata over, attempting to break Hinata's wrist.

“Time out! Chirin wins!” Mizuki quickly said, wanting to end the practice before she damages Hinata any further.

Chirin let go and helped Hinata up then she bowed to her and reached her hand out for Hinata to shake. “Thank you for volunteering for my test. I apologize if I damaged you.”

Hinata blushes, she takes Chirin's hand and shakes it. “Y-you're welcome, Ch-Chirin.”

Hinata left to go home, Chirin turned to Mizuki who spoke up after Hinata had disappeared.

“Well, I had expected you to get into the graduating class due to your skills, but to be fair, you'll be placed in the class with the rest of the 6 year olds, you can graduate with the rest of the others, maybe even earlier. That's all, to be said." he paused with a smile.

 "Welcome to the academy!”

Her pale eyes closed as she bowed, thanking him.

He didn't even ask her why her hands are bloody either and he chose not to.

The walk back seemed to be more quiet than it was this afternoon. All the kids this afternoon were playing even Naruto went to the playground.

Chirin's head shot up to a presence in front of her.

   Sasuke.

He walked right up to her, “You'd think I'd forgot about a bet like that? No, it's still stands."

"What do you want me to do?” he asked her nicely since he learned that she's a newcomer.

She remembered something and her mind was made up, “I want you to take me to Naruto.”

Sasuke's face scrunched up in distaste, he looked away.

“Are you kidding me?” he looked back and asked her. However, no emotion showed on her. The Uchiha sighed, his eyes shifted to the ground.

“Okay, you're not kidding, but why do you want to see that loser?” he asked her and then looked at her again, surprised to see her face scrunched up in anger. Even her eyes didn't look blank this time, she looked like a completely different person.

“He's not a loser, he doesn't have anyone and he is the most hardworking person I ever saw!” gradually, her cord box changed into a different person’s voice, her eyes slowly changed colour. They turned teal as the white faded out.

“You have no fucking reason to judge him without ever knowing him. You're a disgrace, Sasuke. You're nothing more than a bully if you keep up this attitude.” she got closer to his face, her forehead against his, pushing him down until he slipped and landed on his butt in surprise, she rose her head up high glaring at him. "Chirin? What's gotten into you?" Sasuke asks, weirded out by her change.

She ignored what he said and continued speaking,
“Don't act so high and mighty just because you're an Uchiha. Last names are nothing but names to me. You ever talk about Naruto like that again, I'll not hesitate to cut that tongue out. Your mother outta be disappointed in your behavior.”

Slowly, her face relaxed and regained its usual expression, Chirin tilted her head.

“Why’re you on the ground, Sasuke?” she asked blandly.

He blinked five times in confusion, everything looks normal.

He swore she looked like a different person. No, he did see her morph into a different person.

“You don't remember what you said to me?” He asked her in confusion just to be sure.
“All I said was for you not to call Naruto a loser.” She replied so honestly like she didn't push him down with her forehead.

“Nevermind…” he stood up, dusting himself off. “I'll take you to Naruto.” she followed quickly as he started off to the direction of the playground.

Once they got there, Chirin caught sight of Naruto.

“Yo, Aru-kun!” she yelled, startling Naruto who was sitting on the swings with a depressed face that now changed to joy and then to disgust as he saw Sasuke by her side.

   “I'm off then.”

He turned around to leave, but Chirin took a hold of his collar.

“Nope, you, me, and Naruto are playing together. You'd said the loser gets to do anything the winner wants, right? Making you take me to Naruto wasn't the full request.” she paused, he looked over his shoulder to see those eyes again and a smirk on her face and froze, “In fact, I hid the reason why. You'd probably want to train after you took me to Naruto, but no sir. You're going to play with us~”

"No take-backs. You can't refuse me. That's part of the game, right~?"

Chirin’s eyes returned to normal, dragging Sasuke with her to the playground, ignoring his protests.
