"Elle," Someone whispered quietly from the darkness. I pried my eyelids open and jumped in shock when I came face to face with a pair of brown eyes. I reached out and smacked Jack in the shoulder before I buried my face back into the pillow, my eyes closing once more. "Elle," He whispered again and I groaned.

"What?" He immediately shushed me as Danny stirred beside my, his grip on my waist tightening for a moment before relaxing again, "What?" I repeated, quieter this time.

"We want to talk to you." He said and my brows furrowed.

"We?" I mumbled, confused, before my eyes spotted Henley and Merritt standing in the doorway. Henley waved excitedly at me and Merritt gave a thumbs up. I looked back up at Jack's pleading gaze before sighing. I slipped out of Daniel's grasp and stood, stretching for a moment before grabbing a cosy cardigan, wrapping it tightly around my now cold body as I followed Jack out of the room, quietly closing the door behind me. "This better be important." I grumbled, rubbing the sleep from my eyes.

"Aw." Merritt hummed, "Aren't you adorable when you're sleepy."

"McKinney, do I need to remind you that I have a gun-" I cut myself off with a yawn. Henley cooed at me and I glared at her.

"I'm tired and grumpy so if there's nothing you need to tell me, I'm going back to bed." I said and turned on my heel. Jack grabbed my wrist and tugged me back.

"We want to prank Danny for Halloween." He told me and I raised my eyebrows.

"You woke me up at four am to get me in on a prank on Daniel?" They nodded and I whined and stomped my foot lightly, "Halloween's in a few days, guys, can't you just let me sleep and we can talk about it tomorrow." Merritt shook his head.

"That's where you're wrong, sugarplum." I rolled your eyes. "Good ol' Danny boy suspects that we'll be up to something for halloween-"

"Which you are." I quickly interrupted, much to Merritt's dismay.

"Yeah," He conceded, "But if we do all our planning at night then he'll never know."

"And I'll never get sleep." I countered and their proud grins dropped.

"Elle, this'll be fun," Henley chirped, "Besides, you're on your holiday anyway and it'll just be for a few days."

"Just think of it as retribution for him going behind your back with us." Merritt added with a smirk and I rolled my eyes and rubbed my hands tiredly down my face.

"Fine." I said with a groan. Merritt raised his hands in a prayer position as if thanking God. Henley's face lit up and Jack nodded with an excited grin. "What's the plan then?" I asked and the three of them launched excitedly into their plan. They would scare Daniel with a menial prank to trick him into thinking that was their only plan but then I'm supposed to take him looking for ghosts in an abandoned building where they will then pretend to be said ghosts.

"You like it?" Merritt asked proudly and I nodded, pressing my hand to my mouth thoughtfully before taking it away so I could speak.

"There's only one problem," I said, "I would never suggest to go ghost hunting and Danny knows that. He knows I hate ghosts and all things spooky..."

"We've already set all the speakers and stuff up, though." Henley sighed.

"We can say I dared you to?" Jack suggested and I nodded since everyone knew I could rarely refuse a dare from him.

"So, we can do this?" Henley asked, looking around the group who nodded.

"We can do this." I assured her, a grin finding its way onto my face.

...

So after pulling off a somewhat meagre trick on Daniel; Henley, Jack and Merritt left under the pretence of going to a Halloween party. After several warnings from Daniel not to be seen, they were out the door leaving him and I sitting cuddled up on the couch watching tv. He nuzzled his head into my neck, peppering soft kisses against my throat causing my breath to hitch.

My eyes shut and I let out an involuntary sigh before forcing myself to remember the plan. I pushed back on his chest lightly, keeping my hand there, his lips detaching from the skin of my neck and he looked at me with a raised eyebrow, "Let's go ghost hunting." I said with fake enthusiasm.

"...Ghost hunting..." I nodded, "Elle, never in the three years that I've known you have you wanted to go ghost hunting...ever."

"Jack dared me," I told him and he huffed.

"Seriously? This is the perfect opportunity to have alone time since they moved in and instead of using it for sex you want to spend it...ghost hunting?"

I nodded once again taking his hands in mind, "I've had it on my bucket list," Lie. "I've wanted to do it for a while," Lie. "I think it'd be really fun." Lie. "Please, Danny?"

He practically whined, "But sex, Elle!" I giggled and climbed onto his lap, straddling him with my legs on either side of his hips as I pressed my lips to his, gently nipping at his lip and revelling in the shaky gasp that fell from his lips.

"We can do that when we get home." I whispered with a smirk before hopping up out of his lap and making my way to the door.

He groaned before pulling himself up to follow me. As I pulled my coat on, I felt his arms encircle my waist, his cold hands slipping under my shirt, sending goosebumps rippling through my skin as his lips ghosted across my neck.

"Are you sure I can't persuade you into choosing...other options?"

Jack's words from before they left came to my mind, "Whatever you do," He'd said, his hands on my shoulders as he looked me dead in the eyes for extra emphasis, "You can't back down."

I'd nodded with a scoff, "I would never." But now, standing with Daniel's arms wrapped around my waist and his lips against my neck, I found that promise falling apart.

"Fine." I breathed, "But we've gotta be quick...I don't want to miss all the ghosts." I giggled and smirk came upon his lips before he scooped me up, my legs wrapping around his hips as he pressed me against the wall, his lips slamming against mine.

...

As we pulled up to the abandoned house, I pulled my phone out of my pocket to check my texts from the group chat.

Henley 👑

Where are you? It's freezing!

Jacky Boi  🤓

I swear, Elle, if you are Daniel are going at it while we're shivering in the cold...

Merritt 💩

Listen, could you just hurry it up a bit? Dear God.

I rolled my eyes before texting back a simple 'we're here' before turning to Daniel as I got out, rubbing hands together before Daniel grabbed them, encompassing my hands in his own to heat them up a bit.

"So this is it?" He asked and I nodded, a small cloud coming from my mouth as I exhaled.

"This is it." I confirmed and though I knew it was going to be a prank, I still felt adrenaline running through my body as I feared what lied ahead in the graffiti littered cement building. "Shall we go?"

"You sure?" Daniel asked, "We don't have to if you don't want to." I chuckled and shook my head.

"You're not getting out of it that easily, Atlas."

...

"This is really spooky," I whispered, curling into Daniel's chest as we walked through the abandoned halls. Daniel shrugged in response, parting from my side to move closer to the walls, inspecting the graffiti. He ran his fingers over the layers of spray paint.

A low howl floated through the building before gently fading out. My eyes flickered over to Daniel, "Get your ass over here right now." He obliged with a nod, making his way over to me as I hoped and prayed that that was Henley, Merritt and Jack and not actually a ghost or some other supernatural entity. Either way, I clung to his hand as we moved further through the house, entering a hallway.

"It was just the wind," He assured me quickly. As soon as those words slipped past his lips, a loud thump was heard in another room.

"Just the wind?" I repeated and he didn't say anything, his eyes darting from door to door. He moved forwards, tugging me with him. As soon as we took a few steps forwards, hushed, eerie, echoed muttering reverberated through the hall. Daniel lead me, or more like dragged me towards the room it was coming from. "Oh yes, let's go towards the scary sounds, that's a brilliant idea, Danny," I murmured to myself.

We finally reached the door, I could feel Daniel's hand shaking slightly is my grip. We stood outside the door, Daniel look at me expectantly. I raised an eyebrow and asked in a quiet voice, "What?"

He nodded the the doorknob, "Open the door."

My jaw dropped, "Are you serious? I'm not opening the door."

"You're the one that dragged us here!" He protested, his voice still low and quiet.

"And it's your idea to open the door." We stared each other down for a minute until he huffed and shook his head. Daniel slowly reached his hand out and gripped the door. He took a deep breath before pulling the door forwards. Something sprung out, running into us. Daniel let out a loud screaming, frantically wresting with a plastic skeleton, only to be met with trick after trick. Until finally, Merritt, Henley and Jack came screeching out from the shadows. Danny stumbled back, falling against a wall and once he'd realised who it was, he turned to me in disbelief, only to see me cackling alone with the rest of the Horsemen.

He scoffed, "Yeah laugh it up." Daniel said sarcastically, "It was real funny."

"It was though!" I all but wheezed, "Your scream, Danny."

"And did you see your face!?" Jack added in hysterics.

Though Daniel was quick to retort, "You know what? funnily enough, I can't actually see my face." Only earning sarcastic laughs and eye rolls.

"Can we get out of here now?" I asked, "This place is really spooky-" Before I could finish my sentence a loud banging echoed through the building.

"Nice try, guys, we're not going to fall for it this time," Daniel said, looking to Henley, Jack and Merritt who all stared at him with wide eyes.

"That wasn't us..." Jack trailed off.

"So..." Merritt began, "I'm taking it that we're going to run now?" The only answer he got were nods before everyone sprinted from the building.
