I knocked on Danny's door. He opened it, his eyes widening once he saw me. He quickly closed the door, barely leaving it a jar, only his face was visible causing me to frown. "What're you doing here?" He blurted out.
"I uh, I came to visit you. We haven't seen each other for a while and you've barely been texting me and I figured since I just got back from a case I could come visit you..."
"You know what? You should probably go-" I heard a woman laugh from inside and my eyes widened, snapping to the smallest gap through the door before looking back to Daniel. He cringed and pressed his head against the frame of the door. "Elle, I swear-"
"It's not what it looks or rather, sounds like?" I fumed.
"Oh, come on, Elle." He sneered. "You're an FBI agent, you should be able to come up with better deductions than me cheating on you."
"You're not giving me much to go off, Atlas." I replied. "One, I haven't seen you in the flesh for over two weeks, I was away for three days."
"I've been busy-"
"Two," I listed, holding up two fingers, "You've barely been texting me and if you do it's always one word answers. Three," I added another finger, "As soon as you saw me, your face dropped and you immediately closed the door showing me that you have something to hide. Four, you asked me to leave. Five, you started getting defensive when I was implying that you were cheating on me. Six, the woman's laugh." I finished, dropping my hand.
"Okay, I'll admit it seems like that, but I swear I'm not." He pleaded as he slinked out of his apartment, shutting the door quickly behind him, I raised an eyebrow at his suspicious behaviour. He tried to take my hands but I pulled them away quickly.
"Tell me what's going on, then." I demanded.
"I can't. Ellie, I'm sorry, but I can't." I nodded the anger turning into sadness, sucking in a deep breath and smiling, but the tears in my eyes gave away my heartbreak.
"Then I think I should be going, Danny." He sighed.
"Elle-"
"Please don't contact me." I whimpered and walked down the steps to his apartment.

"Who was that, Danny?" Henley asked.
"Nobody." He sat on the couch, leaning forward and holding his head in his hands. Merritt raised an eyebrow.
"Really? Because it sounded an awful lot like a girl - a pretty pissed off girl." He questioned and Jack nodded in agreement.
"Look, how about we stop trying to root through my private life and focus on the show, alright?" Daniel sneered and Merritt raised his hands in defence.
"No one's attacking you here, my friend, no need to get snappy." He chuckled. "We just wanna know who the girl was." Merritt leaned forward, awaiting an answer from the defensive illusionist.
"Yeah, c'mon, Danny!" Henley coaxed, "Who was she?"
"If I tell you, will you shut up about it?" He spat, angrily. They all nodded their heads, Merritt, holding 3 fingers up in 'Scout's Honour.' "She's a girl-" He began but was quickly interrupted by Henley.
"Name?"
"Elara-"
"Knew it!" Merritt called and Atlas continued, ignoring him.
"Do you have any pictures?" Henley asked again. Daniel sighed and with a roll of his eyes, fished his phone from his pocket and opened it up. He went into his photo gallery and scrolled through his perfectly organised albums. He clicked the album titled, "Ellie" and then brought a picture up for the others to see.
"She's hot." Jack blurted out and Atlas looked at him with a deadly glared.
"I agree with Jacky-boy here." Merritt commented, "You managed to hook yourself a good-looking one."
"Hooked." Danny corrected.
"What?" Jack asked.
"Hook implied that she's still hooked." He corrected, "I had hooked her. Past-tense."
"What happened?" Merritt questioned.
"She just broke up with me-"
"No, we got that. I mean, why? Why'd she break it off?" He rephrased.
"She thought I was cheating on her." Daniel replied. "She came over to check on me because we hadn't really seen each other these past few weeks and we weren't texting as much as we usually would and she heard Henley's laugh and just assumed..." He trailed off.
"Oh God, Danny. I'm so sorry." Henley apologised immediately, feeling guilty over the fact that she was the cause of the misunderstanding.
Daniel shrugged, "She was just a girl." He commented but all of them could hear the secret devastation.
"Just a girl you had 157 photos of..." Merritt raised an eyebrow and Danny glared at him.
"I told you about her, now drop it-"
"Actually. You told us about why you two broke up. We only know her name."
"She's 5'3'', she has blonde hair and green eyes. She's afraid of pretty much every movie. She cares so much for people even after all the shit she's seen and it absolutely astounds me." He put his hands on the coffee table in front of him, staring down each of the other horsemen. "She did her best to come to every one of my shows that she could, even if it meant she'd go after her job where she might've been up for 17 hours or maybe even more. She cared so deeply for everyone that her job is trying to put away monsters we can't even begin to imagine and yet she still has the courage to wake up everyday with a smile on her face after the minuscule amount of sleep she gets is taken up by nightmares." Atlas burst and everyone's eyes widened. "It's that an accurate enough description for you?" He spat before storming off to his bedroom, leaving the rest in stunned silence.
