1. You are a young warrior chosen by Odin to recover a powerful artifact stolen by the trickster god Loki. The artifact is said to summon a blizzard capable of freezing the Nine Realms. To retrieve it, you must journey through the frozen wastes of Jotunheim and survive an ancient curse set upon the horn by the Jotun Queen, a being shrouded in mystery. But along the way, you discover Loki has his own plans for the artifact. How will you complete Odin's quest?

2. There is a sacred oak in your homeland that is said to be a shrine of Dagda. After being destroyed by an unknown foe, the forest is dying and its magic is disappearing. You, a druid, have been called forth to restore balance by finding a new "heart" for the oak. Unfortunately, you're not the only one in search of it.

3. When a Valkyrie chooses you, a mortal warrior, to join the soldiers in Valhalla, you discover that she is bound by a curse to never fall in love. As you train with her, your feelings grow deeper and the truth becomes clear. You can break the curse if you sacrifice your soul to the gods. Will you risk everything?

4. You are sent by the gods to receive a missing artifact from Morozko's (the Slavic god of winter) frozen fortress. He is feared for his cold heart and ability to freeze anyone who approaches his castle. Will you find a way to melt his heart?

5. Ever since you were a young child, you've heard stories of Baba Yaga, the witch who lives in a house that stands on chicken legs. Every family offers a sacrifice every year to protect their household, but when your family refuses to offer one, you're forced to enter the forest to rescue your younger sibling. Upon reaching her hut, you discover she is not as evil as the legends say.

6. You are a noblewoman betrothed to a powerful lord who secretly serves as a protector of the empire's darkest secrets. Unbeknownst to you, your fiancé is a werewolf, bound by a centuries-old curse. When a rogue pack of werewolves threatens the empire, you and your fiancé must form an uneasy alliance to protect the kingdom from an uprising.

7. The body of a drowned woman is discovered in a lake by the castle ruins, being one of many disappearances that have plagued your lands for years. Whispers of the Drowned Queen (a spirit in Celtic mythology said to haunt waters) spreads in nearby villages. You decide to investigate in order to uncover what happened to your mother, only to hear the Drowned Queen's voice calling you beneath the lake.

8. A small town in northern Germany is plagued by an increase in death by supernatural means in the midst of the Black Death. Its people spread rumors about how their souls are being dragged into Helheim, the realm of Hel. After you stop receiving letters from your friend, you go there to investigate and find remnants of an ancient cult dedicated to the rise of the realm of the dead.

￮ The contest runs from January 1, 2025 to April 30, 2025. Any submissions received after 11:59 PM EST on April 30, 2025 will be disqualified and ineligible for judging.

￮ Your story must feature a myth, legend, or folktale. Werewolf and vampire fiction is not accepted unless it is directly tied to a cultural mythology.

￮ The word count limit is no more than 10,000 words, excluding author notes, playlists, aesthetics/moodboards, and anything else non-literary. Prologues, epilogues, and bonus chapters will count towards the word count minimum.

￮ The story must be newly written, meaning we are not accepting republished or rewritten content. If it is part of a series, it must be read as a standalone (i.e., we don't need to read other books in the series in order to understand your story).

￮ Entries must be written in English.

￮ You can join all four games, but you can only win once.

￮ Mature content is accepted, but it must follow Wattpad Content Guidelines.
