Loyalty Test
Jemma is sitting in the empty classroom which has been the base for her group. She's staring at The Box as it sits on her desk. It doesn't seem to be doing anything until suddenly it starts to glow with a black light. This makes Jemma pay attention as people enter the room. It's Sarah, Ian and Kat.
"Hey guys..." begins Jemma before she really notices them.
Jemma stops as she sees they all have golden delicious apples in their hands, some of whom are biting into it.
"What are you doing?" asks Jemma with concern.
Sarah and Ian are confused by her question, Ian answering while chewing, "What do you mean?"
"You're... you're eating." responds Jemma.
Sarah is amused by this, also answering with her mouth full, "It's lunch. That's what you do when you're hungry, isn't it?"
Kat joins in, "Speaking of which, why aren't you eating?"
"I'm... I'm not hungry right now." says Jemma before adding, "What I mean is, why are you eating those apples? Where did you get them?"
Ian is again amused, "We got them from Sarah."
"And I got them from Pandora. You know, I think you were wrong about her." explains Sarah, "She's actually pretty cool. I'm not even sure why you need this group."
"Especially with what she's working on." adds Kat.
"What? What is she working on?" Jemma asks with concern.
Her three friends look at each other with concern.
Sarah speaks up, "We're not really supposed to talk about it." she holds out a golden delicious apple to Jemma, "At least not with someone who isn't in the inner circle."
Jemma sees the apple on offer and reflexively grabs The Box in concern, "No, that's okay."
Sarah notices The Box and strangely lights up, "Is that it? Is that what's causing all our problems?"
Jemma backs up before answering the question, "Yes."
"What are you doing with it?" a curious Kat asks with skepticism.
"Yeah, shouldn't you be throwing it away?" suggests Ian, getting in on the interrogations.
"It was given to me... by Pandora's father." responds Jemma, backing away as her three friends slowly keep moving towards her.
"Why did he give it to you? Doesn't it belong to Pandora? Isn't that how it got its name?" queries Kat.
Jemma looks around, making sure that she's backing up towards the classroom's other exit, "Yes, technically but... look, guys I was right. Something is wrong with Pandora."
"You keep saying that." responds Ian.
"I know but... I'm actually right this time. She's... her father told me..." tries Jemma before getting cut off.
"Did you ever think that maybe... you're the problem?" Sarah says with an angry tone.
"What?" a surprised Jemma asks.
"Well you keep talking about how everything's Pandora's fault, but the truth is, we would've been fine if it wasn't for you." explains Sarah.
"What are you talking about?" Jemma asks with concern.
"She's right." confirms Ian.
Sarah continues, "I was happy to just fly under the radar and avoid the craziness in the school. But you had to go and tell me what was going on. You had to open my eyes to all this magic stuff. How dare you."
"I... I'm sorry I... I didn't think..." Jemma tries as she gets close to the door.
"Give it to us!" Kat insists.
Jemma cradles The Box, keeping it from her friends as she makes it to the door. Their eyes glow a black light and Jemma exits, running away.

Pandora is sitting at a table on the highest point of the lunch room, everyone else is at a lower level in a strange descending order with the majority on the same main level. Those on the upper levels are a mixture of the football players, cheerleaders and the student government. They all appear to be serving Pandora in some way. Sarah, Kat and Ian approach but are stopped by cheerleaders and a few football players.
There's a bit of a standoff between Jemma's friends and the football players and other cheerleaders. After a while, Sarah, Kat and Ian kneel in front of Pandora. This makes Pandora smile and wave away her soldiers.
"I'm glad to see that you've joined us." Pandora says with joy, although there's silence from the kneeling people, "What is it?"
"My lady, we're sorry. We failed in our first mission. Sarah told us that we need to convince Jemma to join you but she resisted." Kat says, clearly upset at her failure.
"Hmm, she's becoming a problem." suggests Pandora absently.
"Although we might know why she's resisting." Sarah said.
That makes Pandora curious, "Really? What's your theory?"
Sarah hesitates for a moment, "When we went to try and convince her, she had... The Box."
Pandora sits up at that, not happy about it.
"The Box? God can't I get away from that thing? What did you do? Did you get it away from her?"
There's a long silence.
"I'm sorry, she got away from us with The Box."
Pandora grumbles at that, "All right, well... we're going to have to do something about that. I can't have her out there screwing things up for us."
"What would you have us do, my lady?" Sarah asks expectantly.
The possessed girl with a destiny takes a moment to think about it, "Nothing, for the moment, except watch her. Keep an eye on what she does with The Box. I think I'm going to need to take drastic action to fix this situation."
All three of them respond to the command, "Yes, my lady."
Bowing their heads, they wait before finally getting up and turning to do as they ask. Pandora puts her arms out as if she's parting the red sea and her protectors move to make a space for her. She comes down off the almost throne she's been sitting on and walks out of the lunch room.

Jemma walks down the hall of the school, her bag over her shoulder. During her walk, she stops, looking around. Seeing nothing, she goes back to walking down the hall to class. Again she feels the need to stop, as if eyes are on her and turns to find them... without success. Going back to heading towards class, she comes up on a turn goes down it, quickly hiding behind the corner. It isn't long before Sarah comes around the corner, confused when she doesn't see Jemma down the hall.
"Can I help you?"
Sarah isn't sure how to respond right away.
"Well, I guess Pandora was right about you." Sarah says somewhat playfully.
Jemma crosses her arms over her chest defensively before responding, "What exactly did she say?"
"That you're more trouble than you're worth." laughs Sarah.
Jemma's somewhat put off by that, "She said that?"
"Yeah, and you just proved her right."
"Why? Because I didn't like you following me?"
Sarah scowls at Jemma, "No, because you just had to confront me about it. That's what's so good about what Pandora's doing. She's going to make it so that there's no more confrontation. No more anger or pain or anything like that. She's going to make it all better."
"And how is she going to do that?" asks Jemma, curious.
"By being awesome, obviously. I mean, I thought you were in love with her." suggests Sarah.
"I mean... I... I like her... liked... her, but..."
"So why wouldn't you want her to succeed? That way you can be with her."
Jemma pushes back, "Because I didn't really feel the togetherness when I was being hit with apples from everywhere. Call me crazy."
"You're crazy." pushes back Sarah, "You wouldn't go along with her plan. What the hell was she supposed to do?"
"Didn't she try that?"
That has Jemma not saying anything for a while.
"Look, just stop following me. It's really creepy and I don't need any more stress in my life right now."
"Because you got that box thing?" questions Sarah, "I thought you said it was dangerous."
"I... I thought it was, but... now I'm not so sure."
Sarah gives her a questioning look, "What changed?"
It takes Jemma a second to answer, "Pandora did."
Jemma walks away from Sarah.

Jemma makes her way down the stairs from her bedroom. She's still half asleep as she walks into the kitchen for breakfast.
"Hi Jemma."
That has her stopping as she sees Pandora sitting at the kitchen table with a smile on her face.
"Dora... I... what... what are you doing here?"
Just then, Shannon, Jemma's mother comes in with a breakfast plate for Pandora, setting it down in front of her.
"Oh good morning Jemma honey. Glad to see you're up. I'm making breakfast. Your friend Pandora was nice enough to stop by." Shannon explains.
Jemma and Pandora stare at each other, a big smile on Pandora's face.
"I can see that." responds Jemma, concerned.
"Well I just thought since we're such good friends and you've met my parents, I should come by and meet yours. That way we can really get to know each other." Pandora offers as explanation.
"And I'm so glad she came over. She's so nice. She showed up with basket of apples as a gift. Isn't that nice?" says Shannon, mostly rhetorically.
Jemma gets a concerned look on her face, "Apples?"
"Yeah, I mean, they're a healthy part of any breakfast, right?" Pandora says with an upbeat tone.
"Absolutely. I tried one earlier? It was delicious." Shannon says.
"You tried one already?" Jemma asks, her concern growing by the second.
"Of course honey. Pandora insisted so that she knew she brought the best for her friend's family. I think I'll make a pie tonight for your father. Now sit down and I'll bring you your plate."
Shannon walks away to the stove. There's nothing but silence between Jemma and Pandora for a while.
"You heard your mother." insists Pandora, "Sit down."
After a few moments, Jemma sits down as far away as she can from her classmate and almost lover.
"What are you doing Dora?"
Pandora smiles back, "I'm visiting a friend and getting to know her parents. What else would I be doing?"
Jemma scowls, "You know what you're doing. Going after my mother? My father? How could you?"
"How could I not? We're friends, and we could be so much more than that. I want us to be more than that." pushes Pandora.
"And how does making my mother eat one of your apples get us to that?"
The question has Pandora frown at Jemma, "I didn't force your mom to do anything. I offered it to her and she decided to take it. You make it sound like a forced it down her throat or something. I'm not a monster."
"You're doing a pretty good impression of one." Jemma pushes back.
"I'm just trying to make the world better. It's a mess and someone needs to clean it up."
"But why do you need me to be a part of it?" questions Jemma.
"Because what's the point of being in charge of the new world order if you don't have someone to share it with? I want that to be you. I need it to be you."
Jemma watches her for a second, "Is that what this is about? Wanting to be with me? Are you doing this to get me to be with you? Is that why you're doing this to my mother?"
"No, I did this to your mother to show that you can't get away from me. There's nowhere that you can go to leave me. It's just better if you be with me." Pandora says with something of a predatory tone in her voice.
"And you don't see a problem with thinking that way?"
Pandora gets a confused look on her face, "No... why would I?"
Jemma doesn't respond right away.
"I'm sorry to see how bad things are for you. That you think this is going to make me want to be with you. And I forgive you."
Pandora continues to be confused, "You forgive me?"
"Or at least, I will when this is all over. When you can finally realize what you've done. I will forgive you. I just hope that you can forgive me."
That makes Pandora stand up, "I'm not the one who's going to need forgiveness. You will, when you realize how wrong you are."
Jemma doesn't say anything to that.
"Tell your mother that I can't stay. I'll see you later though."
Pandora leaves.
