INT. I.N.'S ROOM – MORNING.

I.N. checks his rolling duffel bag.

Mrs. Yang walks in with a glass of fresh fruit juice.

MRS. YANG: Where are you going?

I.N: Shanghai, for the event.

She exhales, annoyed, placing the glass on his desk.

MRS. YANG: I told you, you can't go!

I.N: I know, but I can't let Y/n-

MRS. YANG: Y/n! Y/n! Y/n! That's all you ever think of.

I.N: She's my best friend!

MRS. YANG: You can't consider someone who is after your money as your best friend.

I.N: What're you talking about?

MRS. YANG: Wake up I.N! She's fooling you, especially now because you're so rich.

I.N: Mom!

MRS. YANG: She's going to deceive you-

I.N: I don't care if she does. This is my choice. You can't stop me by saying such pathetic things.

She raises her hand and I.N. feels the slap burn his cheek.

MRS. YANG: How dare you talk like that to your own mother!

Her flare of anger sets him off.

I.N: There is nothing you can say or do that will stop me from loving Y/n.

He turns to his bag and zips it shut.

CUT TO:

EXT. AIRPORT – AFTERNOON.

The Lee Company plane is being readied for the trip. Lee Know paces up and down, talking on his phone with Nabi. He does not notice the arrival of I.N and Y/n.

I.N: Hi, Lee Know.

Lee Know turns and sees the person he has been waiting for.

I.N: All set?

Lee Know nods, still looking at Y/n.

LEE KNOW: Hey, how're you feeling?

Y/N: Great. Why're you asking?

LEE KNOW: Uh... I was worried.

Y/N: Sure.

He looks at I.N, confused by her behavior, but I.N is looking toward the plane.

I.N: Hi! Jae On.

JAE ON: Oh! You're here.

He walks to them.

JAE ON: Great. We need to g-

Y/n pushes her wheeled luggage and walks past everyone, to where Jae On is pointing.

JAE ON: What's up with her?

I.N: Probably just nerves.

They all leave the topic and board the plane.

Omma, watching them from afar, speaks into her phone.

OMMA: They're on the plane, Red. See you in Shanghai.

CUT TO:

INT. LEE COMPANY PLANE – AFTERNOON

Lee Know, Y/n, I.N and Jae On, are all seated in the plane.

Y/N: We're going to catch the murderer. Whoo.

Everyone is perplexed by her behavior.

Y/N: Shanghai...whoo....

Her jazz hands, don't look like one, when she does it.

LEE KNOW: Um...what's wrong?

Y/N: Why would anything be wrong?

She plays with the armrests of her seat and smiles nervously.

LEE KNOW: Are you scared? Don't be. We-

Y/N: Scared? Pfft! Why would anyone be scared?

LEE KNOW: Can you, do it?-

Y/N: No.

They are all surprised at her quick reply.

Y/N: If I say that, would you listen? Would you be like... Let's not go. Let the murderer do whatever! We should take care of our feelings. No, right?

Lee Know nods slowly because he thinks he has to.

LEE KNOW: We can figure something else o-

Y/N: ARE YOU MAD?!

Lee Know flinches.

Y/N: YOU'RE GOING TO LET OUR ONLY CHANCE OF FINDING THE MURDERER GO?!

Lee Know's mouth quivers.

LEE KNOW: Uh...then we're going-

Y/N: So, I can't say I don't want to go.

Lee Know looks at Jae On for help, but hyung looks as lost as he is.

LEE KNOW: Then let's not go if you're so scared-

Y/N: WE NEED TO CATCH THE MURDERER!

LEE KNOW: Then what is it that you want to do?!

Y/N: Does that matter? I have to find the culprit.

Lee Know looks out the window, taking the time to think. He looks back at Y/n.

LEE KNOW: We're not going.

Y/N: WHY-

LEE KNOW: It's final. You're in no condition to go. We're not going.

He gets up and walks out the plane.

JAE ON: Lee Know! Wait!

He follows his brother out.

CUT TO:

INT. AWARD CEREMONY - LOBBY

Omma, disguised as a staff member, stands in the lobby waiting for the arrival of Lee Know and Y/n. She speaks secretly into her earpiece.

OMMA: They're not here yet.

RED: I can't find them on any of my monitors either.

The voice of the host in the hall echoes.

OMMA: They should've been here by now.

RED: Breath, let's wait for a little while.

OMMA: What do you mean?!

HOST: And the award for the Company Of The Year goes to.....

Omma freezes. She rushes into the event hall.

HOST: Lee Group!

Imo stands from her table. She walks to the stage and receives the award.

IMO: Thank you, thank you. My brother would have loved-

OMMA: Shit.

She can hear Red trash his room.

RED: WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY?!

CUT TO:

INT. LEE FAMILY HOME- NIGHT

Jae On switches off the TV after watching Imo receive the award.

Lee Know, stares at the board, on the wall, depicting the details of the case - All The clues and danger pointing to Y/n.

Jae On walks to his younger brother.

JAE ON: This could've ended today.

Lee Know rubs his forehead.

He throws his marker away.

JAE ON: We'll figure something out.

LEE KNOW: If she could have been braver for one more day....

JAE ON: You gotta understand, she's the one suffering the most. How scared must she be?

I know.

LEE KNOW: But...

He can't complete his sentence.

Jae On rubs the back of his neck exhausted. He pats Lee Know's shoulder.

JAE ON: We'll figure something out. Don't worry.

Lee Know nods.

JAE ON: I'm going to bed, don't stay up too late.

LEE KNOW: Yeah, rest up.

Jae On leaves the room. Lee Know sits on the edge of the large mahogany desk, his toes balanced on the floor. His gaze finds the 2 passports lying on the table. The clock reads 10.50pm. He picks up the phone and makes a call.

LEE KNOW: Hello.

I.N: Yeah, Hi.

LEE KNOW: I have your passports. I'll drop it off tomorrow.

I.N: Thanks. I forgot about those.

LEE KNOW: Um... How is she? Is she acting normal?

I.N: What do you think? She sent me back home too.

LEE KNOW: Where is she?

I.N: Don't bother her today.

Lee Know squeezes the back of his neck.

I.N: Just let her be. ... I got to go, see you tomorrow.

LEE KNOW: Bye.

He puts his phone down, looking at the gift box on the desk.

FLASH BACK:

INT. LEE KNOW'S CAR - AFTERNOON

Lee Know and Y/n are driving to the Seoul National Hospital parking lot.

He stops at the red light. Y/n looks out the window. She turns back to the traffic light.

Y/N: Ya, wait for me.

She says and darts out of the car.

LEE KNOW: Y/N! Where-

He watches her run to the vending machine on the sidewalk.

LEE KNOW: What is she doing?

In under a minute Y/n is back in the car, holding a garish yellow packet, beaming.

Lee Know does not know what to make of it. She grips the packet and closes her eyes, praying. The light turns green and Lee Know drives ahead, every few seconds, his eyes shifting back to Y/n. Y/n finally stops praying. She tears open the packet and takes out a toy.

Y/N: Aish!

She throws it on the dashboard. Realizing she's with Lee Know, she calms down.

Y/N: Sorry.

Lee Know lowers his raised eyebrows.

Y/N: There is this Pikabick toy, you know from the kids show 'The Adventures of Wooderson'?

She looks at him. Lee Know looks lost.

Y/N: It was a show I used to watch when I was in preschool...I've always wanted the Rainbow Pikabick toy, but I never get it.

Lee Know smiles, understanding.

LEE KNOW: Next time. You never get the one you want the first time anyways.

Y/N: I've been trying for 10 years. I never get it. I.N and I always try when we come across the machine, I don't think I will ever get it.

Lee Know notices her deep disappointment.

Her phone rings.

Y/N: Hey I.N.

CUT TU:

INT. LEE FAMILY HOME- NIGHT

PRESENT:

Lee Know looks at the gift box.

I got it on the first try. - He smiles.

He slides off the desk and walks out the room, with the gift in his hand.

CUT TO:

EXT. Y/N'S APARTMENT – NIGHT

Lee Know steps out of his car and his confidence drops with each step.

LEE KNOW: Will she even open the door? Ahh!!

He leans against the wall and forces himself to call Y/n.

Y/N: WHY IN THE WORLD ARE YOU CALLING ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT?!

Lee Know smiles, taking a second to celebrate the fact that she answered.

LEE KNOW: I...I got you something.

Y/N: A weapon to kill you?

LEE KNOW: No... Can I come upstairs?

Y/N: WHY!

LEE KNOW: You'll understand when you see it.

Y/N: Ya!... .... fine. Make it quick or I'll kill you.

Lee Know smiles and dashes up the stairs.

CUT TO:

INT. Y/N'S APARTMENT – LATE NIGHT

Y/n opens the door and sees Lee Know staring at the floor.

Y/N: What is it?

LEE KNOW: Can I come in?

Y/n opens the door wider for him to enter. He walks in, with both hands in his coat pocket. He stops at the couch and turns back to her.

Y/N: What is it?

Lee Know takes out the small box, and holds it out to Y/n.

LEE KNOW: Happy birthday!

Y/n looks at it uninterested, but still takes it from him. Lee Know both wants to and does not want to see her reaction. Y/n opens it and holds out a toy.

Y/N: What is this?

LEE KNOW: Huh?

Y/n puts it back and closes the box.

Y/N: If this is all you came to give, please leave.

LEE KNOW: I'm sorry, I bothered you.

He walks past her to the door, a dozen questions popping in his head.

Y/N: Wait.

Lee Know stops. Right before he turns around, Y/n hits him in the head with a bat, he drops to the floor unconscious.

Y/N: I got a gift for you too.

She smiles and steps aside. 2 men walk out of her room and pick Lee Know up.

CUT TO:

INT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE - ?

Lee Know feels a sharp pain in the back of his head. He tries moving his hand to rub the spot but realises his hands are tied. What the-

Y/N: Good, you're up. It was getting boring.

He looks at Y/n sitting on the table, her legs swinging.

LEE KNOW: Y/n...

She smirks and starts sharping the knife she is holding. He looks up. His hands are tied to a chain hanging from the ceiling, his foot, just touching the floor, stopping him from hanging off from his wrists completely. He looks to his right and his stomach tightens - HYUNG!

Jae on is also hanging from his wrists, his body is tensionless.

LEE KNOW: Hyung... Hyung!

Bang! Lee Know flinches.

Y/N: Shut up please.

Y/n brings down the gun she is pointing to the ceiling.

LEE KNOW: How...could you...

Y/n ignores him and gets back to sharpening her knife.

Lee Know looks away as anger and hatred rises inside him. A dangling object to the left, almost behind him grabs his attention. Someone else is tied and hanged. He turns on his toes and trying to look back. He freezes, a numbing chill runs down his spine, recognizing the person.

Y/N: Interesting, isn't it?
