Together We Stand
Jemma finishes putting away her things in her locker before closing it up and turning to get to class. As she does, Nina is standing there with a not so friendly look on her face.
"You're her aren't you?" asks Nina in a very matter of fact way.
"Sorry?" a confused Jemma asks.
"You're the one Pandora likes, aren't you?" Nina asks again, with a strangely matter of fact tone.
Jemma watches Nina, trying to make out what her odd classmate is trying to get at, "I guess... what does that have to do with me?"
"We don't like Pandora." declares Nina, her tone getting a little more hostile.
"Sucks for you. Again... what's that got to be with me?" wonders Jemma, her confusion moving toward concern.
"She hurt Kat, so we want to hurt her back." insist Nina as she begins moving in closer on Jemma's space.
"Why aren't you talking to Pandora about that?" asks Jemma.
"Because hurting her doesn't get me what I want. She didn't hurt me..." Nina begins as Jemma starts to back away, but runs into several of Nina's teammates behind her blocking her way, "She hurt someone important to me."
Jemma looks around, seeing that almost no one seems bothered by the fact that she's being surrounded by the cheerleaders. Several of her classmates see what's going on but just continue on with whatever they were doing.
"So we're going to hurt someone that's important to her." Dani says as Jemma bumps into her while backing away, making her stop in the middle of the mob.
"Or you could just go to the source." Pandora declares, making all of the cheerleaders turn to find her moving into the circle to stand beside Jemma to face Nina, "I'm the one that did it, you wanna punish someone? Punish me."
Nina glares at Pandora for a long moment, "Don't think the idea didn't cross my mind... but Sarah says you're one of us. So hurting you is like hurting us," her focus turns to Jemma, "but she's not one of us."
"Which makes her fair game as far as we're concerned." adds Dani.
"Not as far as I'm concerned, so leave her the hell alone." says Pandora in the most commanding she can be while surrounded by a group trying to hurt her.
There's a sizeable silent moment between Pandora, Jemma, Nina, Dani and the rest of the cheerleaders, then Nina finally speaks up, "Fine, we're out of here."
Nina starts walking away from the stand off and it isn't long before Dani and the rest follow her lead. Jemma and Pandora watch them leave long enough to decide this isn't a fake out, then Jemma turns to her.
"Thanks, I think they really wanted to hurt me." says Jemma, "You always seem to be there when I'm about to get hurt."
That makes Pandora watch her for a few moments, "Yeah, about that..." Pandora looks around at the classmates moving past them in all directions, "There's a reason for that and..." then heads for a classroom, taking Jemma by the hand and leading her into it, "It has to do with The Box."
They stop inside the empty classroom and Jemma isn't sure exactly how to respond to that, "What?"
"I'm serious. The reason I want it back... is so people stop doing this type of thing. I'm trying to stop it." adds Pandora.
"How are you going to stop Kat from being herself?" suggests Jemma.
"That's just it, this isn't really her... or at least not entirely." insists Pandora, "She's... possessed."
"Possessed?" responds Jemma, "By what? A ghost?"
"More like, a spirit." confirms Pandora.
This makes Jemma scoff at the idea, "And how do you know that?"
"It's kind've a family thing." says Pandora.
"What does this have to do with that box?" Jemma asks the obvious.
"You've heard of Pandora's Box, right?" Pandora asks rhetorically.
An annoyed look comes over Jemma, "Seriously? This is what you're going with? Just because your name is Pandora, doesn't mean I'm just going to go with this."
"I know how it sounds, but it's true. My parents named me because apparently I'm a descendant of the one from Greek mythology. That box you have? It's the actual one... and I really need it back." explains Pandora, trying to be as convincing as possible.
Jemma watches Pandora for a long time, her annoyance turning to anger rather quickly, "I can't believe you."
"I know it's weird, but you have to." insists Pandora.
"That's not what I mean. What I mean is... I thought we had something." Jemma elaborates.
"What are you talking about?" Pandora asks, with a sinking feeling about where this is going.
"I thought you liked me." says Jemma.
"I do like you, I..." starts Pandora before being cut off.
"Then how could you even try this on me? Pandora's Box? Really? You couldn't come up with something more original? That's what you're going to go with?" fires back Jemma with what are mostly angry rhetorical questions.
"I know how weird it sounds, but it's true." Pandora declares, trying to get through to a suddenly much more closed off Jemma.
"What's so bad that you can't just tell me the truth?" Jemma asks less rhetorically.
"I am telling the truth." again declares Pandora, clearly seeing this is going where she thought it was.
Jemma turns to leave but Pandora grabs her arm, turning them back to each other, "I really do need The Box back."
Her words seem to really upset Jemma as she tries to process what they mean, "You want this thing back so bad? Fine... come with me."
Jemma pulls her arm out of Pandora's grip and starts to leave, Pandora follows her out. They head down the hall towards the back of the school. Neither of them says anything to each other on the journey, Jemma clearly upset and Pandora trying to avoid making things worse. They leave the main school and head out to the football field. Jemma heads towards the bleachers, ducking under them with Pandora following close behind.
Pandora notices where they are going, "Isn't this?"
"Yes, it is." Jemma responds before Pandora can ask the full question.
"This is where we hung out that first day." finishes Pandora, looking up at the bleachers they're under.
Jemma makes her way to a medium size electrical box under the bleachers, opens it and pulls out a bag with a familiar shape. She reaches into the bag and pulls out The Box, holding it out to Pandora. The young teenager with a destiny doesn't take it right away, not sure exactly what it means for her relationship.
"You wanted it so bad, here..." Jemma shoves it at Pandora when she doesn't take it, and only then does Pandora take it.
The previously possessed teen doesn't wait for Pandora to respond, immediately walking away from them. Pandora is left standing under the bleachers with The Box in her hand.

Later on in the day, Sarah is sitting on the bleachers of the football field, watching the football team go through plays in preparation for the upcoming game. After the offense runs through a particular play, they take a break and the quarterback heads over toward Sarah. He takes off his helmet, revealing it to be David, Sarah's boyfriend.
"Hey babe, thanks for coming out." says David in appreciation.
Sarah stands up to talk to her boyfriend but as soon as she gets upright, her knees go weak and she has to sit down again.
"Are you okay?" David asks with obvious concern.
"Yeah... I think I just... I've been pushing myself too hard." says Sarah despite her breathing getting heavier.
"You should take a break. I know you're pretty busy with the new team, but don't go insane with it." suggests David.
"Soon, after the big game... I promise." responds Sarah with a smile, "You're looking great out there."
"You think so? I really think we're going to win tomorrow's game." David says.
Sarah reaches out, touching her boyfriend's arm. As she does, a spark of red electrical energy goes from her to his arm. David's eyes glow red for a moment before Sarah's do too. A whistle blows, calling the offense back to the field. David smiles at Sarah.
"I better get back out there." he says, starting to make his way back.
"Go, I'll see you later." suggests Sarah.
"Definitely." responds David.
As he gets back out on the field, he touches a few of his teammates and the same electrical charge seems to transfer from him to them.
Sarah smiles, although almost immediately she starts to breath heavier than before.
