Relationship Problems
The next morning, light from Pandora's bedroom window slowly shines on her face, waking her up. Pandora opens her eyes and slowly sits up, only to realize that she's been sleeping on the bedroom floor. She looks around confused as she wipes the sleep out of her eyes and realizes she didn't sleep comfortably.
It isn't long before her attention turns to the closet door, which is strangely closed. Pandora gets off the floor and slowly makes her way over to her closet. She opens it, and The Box is just sitting there. It's not glowing or doing anything suspicious at all. Pandora looks around her room to see that nothing else is out of place. Her sheets are the way she threw them off her and everything else looks exactly the same as it should.
Pandora takes a slow deep breath to calm herself and then closes the closet door. The young high school student makes her way downstairs and into her kitchen to find her parents, Jove and Uni, in the middle of making breakfast.
"Morning sweetheart." her mother Uni says.
There's a long pause before Pandora actually answers, "Morning."
Her parents look at each other for a moment.
"Everything all right honey?" asks her father Jove.
Again it takes Pandora a moment to answer, "Yeah, I guess so."
A silent moment passes between the three family members.
"What is it?" Uni asks with more insistence.
"I don't know. It's probably nothing. I just..." Pandora starts then trails off.
"What?" Jove pushes his daughter a little further with the question.
"I think, something weird happened last night with The Box."
"Weird? Weird how?" asks Uni.
"I don't know. It's all kinda fuzzy. I'm not even sure I remember it exactly. I was having a nightmare, and then I woke up and there was a light."
"Do you remember the dream?" wonders her father.
Pandora takes a second to think about it.
"Not really. All I can really remember is the color red. But I'm not sure if it was in the dream or The Box." a slightly confused Pandora says.
"Do you think it might've been both?" Pandora's mother asks.
"Could be. Why? Is it important?"
Uni and Jove look at each other.
"What?" asks Pandora, unsure how to feel about what her parents aren't saying.
Eventually, Uni speaks up "If it was both, then it very well could be important. It could be part of your gift."
"My gift?"
Jove continues his wife's train of thought, "There's no real way to tell when a spirit could have been activated. It depends a lot on the person and what they're going through. But the spirits and The Box are connected, even when they escape. They're connected in a similar way that you are. Sometimes there's crossover between the three. It's part of how you'll be able to find them. It will give you the type of instincts that allows you to know when someone is possessed or just being a jerk or something. If the light in the dream and The Box are connected, it could be trying to tell you that a possession has started."
"Someone may have been activated. Are you sure you don't remember anything about the dream? It could give you some kind of clue." suggests Uni.
Pandora closes her eyes and breathes deep. There's a long pause where no one says anything.
Afterwards, Pandora opens her eyes, "Nope, nothing's coming to me."
Pandora's parents look at each other silently.
"What? You're kinda freaking me out." insists Pandora.
Uni tries to calm her daughter, "It's okay. Everything's fine. It's just that, figuring out who's been possessed makes the process a lot easier. Dreams can sometimes provide a good clue about who it is and what kind of spirit might be coming out. But it's fine. It just means that you'll have to be extra careful and look out for anything out of the ordinary."
"Great." Pandora sighs.
"What?" asks Jove.
"Well, I... after what happened with Jemma and everything, I was kinda hoping that I'd have a little more time to figure out how to talk to her. I've been avoiding her since it happened because I'm not really sure what to say."
Jove attempts to reassure his daughter, "I'm confident you'll figure something out."
"Gee, thanks."
"Just let her fill in her own blanks Dora. I'm sure she's come up with all kinds of ideas and theories herself. Trying not to point her in the right direction. All you have to do is play dumb." insists Uni.
"So, lie to her."
"It's not lying to her. It's protecting her from things she doesn't need to know." reasons Jove.
"You're sure there's not a manual for this type of thing?"
