Breakfast
Jemma makes her way down the stairs from her bedroom. She's still half asleep as she walks into the kitchen for breakfast.
"Hi Jemma."
That has her stopping as she sees Pandora sitting at the kitchen table with a smile on her face.
"Dora... I... what... what are you doing here?"
Just then, Shannon, Jemma's mother comes in with a breakfast plate for Pandora, setting it down in front of her.
"Oh good morning Jemma honey. Glad to see you're up. I'm making breakfast. Your friend Pandora was nice enough to stop by." Shannon explains.
Jemma and Pandora stare at each other, a big smile on Pandora's face.
"I can see that." responds Jemma, concerned.
"Well I just thought since we're such good friends and you've met my parents, I should come by and meet yours. That way we can really get to know each other." Pandora offers as explanation.
"And I'm so glad she came over. She's so nice. She showed up with basket of apples as a gift. Isn't that nice?" says Shannon, mostly rhetorically.
Jemma gets a concerned look on her face, "Apples?"
"Yeah, I mean, they're a healthy part of any breakfast, right?" Pandora says with an upbeat tone.
"Absolutely. I tried one earlier? It was delicious." Shannon says.
"You tried one already?" Jemma asks, her concern growing by the second.
"Of course honey. Pandora insisted so that she knew she brought the best for her friend's family. I think I'll make a pie tonight for your father. Now sit down and I'll bring you your plate."
Shannon walks away to the stove. There's nothing but silence between Jemma and Pandora for a while.
"You heard your mother." insists Pandora, "Sit down."
After a few moments, Jemma sits down as far away as she can from her classmate and almost lover.
"What are you doing Dora?"
Pandora smiles back, "I'm visiting a friend and getting to know her parents. What else would I be doing?"
Jemma scowls, "You know what you're doing. Going after my mother? My father? How could you?"
"How could I not? We're friends, and we could be so much more than that. I want us to be more than that." pushes Pandora.
"And how does making my mother eat one of your apples get us to that?"
The question has Pandora frown at Jemma, "I didn't force your mom to do anything. I offered it to her and she decided to take it. You make it sound like a forced it down her throat or something. I'm not a monster."
"You're doing a pretty good impression of one." Jemma pushes back.
"I'm just trying to make the world better. It's a mess and someone needs to clean it up."
"But why do you need me to be a part of it?" questions Jemma.
"Because what's the point of being in charge of the new world order if you don't have someone to share it with? I want that to be you. I need it to be you."
Jemma watches her for a second, "Is that what this is about? Wanting to be with me? Are you doing this to get me to be with you? Is that why you're doing this to my mother?"
"No, I did this to your mother to show that you can't get away from me. There's nowhere that you can go to leave me. It's just better if you be with me." Pandora says with something of a predatory tone in her voice.
"And you don't see a problem with thinking that way?"
Pandora gets a confused look on her face, "No... why would I?"
Jemma doesn't respond right away.
"I'm sorry to see how bad things are for you. That you think this is going to make me want to be with you. And I forgive you."
Pandora continues to be confused, "You forgive me?"
"Or at least, I will when this is all over. When you can finally realize what you've done. I will forgive you. I just hope that you can forgive me."
That makes Pandora stand up, "I'm not the one who's going to need forgiveness. You will, when you realize how wrong you are."
Jemma doesn't say anything to that.
"Tell your mother that I can't stay. I'll see you later though."
Pandora leaves.
