The golden hues of Easter morning shine through the window panels at V's Bakery announcing the bright start of the day. Excitement would be an understatement as Taehyung clocked in earlier than expected in the bakery today, anticipating the day with Jungkook's assistance.

Taehyung had a long night of thoughts and he wondered. Having Jungkook around made him at ease. The brown head concludes that the younger is a special friend that requires his special attention.

Time was 8 in the morning and Taehyung was all ready to open the business to the customer for he reached the bakery at 7 am, earlier than he usually would.

Soon, the time ticked to indicated 9 am.

It was time to open the door for business.

There was no sign of Jungkook.

Taehyung peeked into his phone for messages or any missed calls but he had none. He didn't know what happened which could have caused Jungkook's delay, he was low-key afraid of the potential hiccups the younger would have faced that forbidden his presence currently in the bakery.

With a minute on the clock to spare, Taehyung dialled then ravenette wanting to on him. Jungkook doesn't have the habit of being late, this is one thing that Taehyung admires on the younger.

Nothing.

It was unanswered.

Taehyung nervously dialled Jimin, the blond who potentially would have some idea on where the younger might be right now. If he is safe for that matter of fact.

Again, nothing. Jimin didn't answer the call either. Taehyung was panicking. Internally, he was rushing his thought to a conclusion he hates to envision. Another one more person flashed in Tae's mind making the brown head quickly dial the number which he knows and hopes will answer him.

"Hello Louis?"

"Hey. I'm good. Yea, I'm working today."

"Mhm. Louis, I have a quick question. Do you know where is Jungkook? He was supposed to be here by 830. Not only he isn't here, he is not answering any of my calls or messages either. Jimin is not as well."

"They are together? At Jungkook's?"

"I see. Thanks Louis. No thanks, I have plans after closing the bakery today. Feel free to have the gathering without me."

"Bye."

Taehyung dropped his arm with his hand clenching on the phone as he clenched his jaw in frustration. He found out from Louis that Jimin hung out with Jungkook late last night and this morning when he checked in, the best friends turned the game night into a sleepover.

Louis also informed Tae about their dinner party at Jungkook's and invited Taehyung to join as well. The brown head however turned bitter when he found out that Jungkook is spending time with Jimin instead of being here as promised.

That was so unlike Jungkook. When the door was knocked by early birds for their treats, Taehyung had to force his mind out of the trance he was in and put in a charming young patissier facade to entertain the customers walking into the bakery.

Guess he just has to hold the fort by himself today and with the knowledge of Jungkook ignoring him for some reason created another wave of discomfort in Taehyung.

In the comforting light of the day, Taehyung locked the front door to his bakery as he pocketed the silver keys into his pocket. He docked his head up and looked at the bright blue sky greeting him with the rays of sunshine. Internally, he was a gone case.

Throughout the business, Taehyung was fuming with unwanted thoughts about what happened to Jungkook and why is he not responding to Tae's earlier calls and messages? As far as Taehyung is concerned, they both departed on a good note last night. Jungkook even promised to come back to assist him despite the fact he needs to start his training.

"Where are you Kooks?"

The older closed his eyes gently with his head still tilted above, allowing the midday sun to gently burn his already tanned skin. Once he decided he had enough kisses from the big golden ball, Taehyung pressed a ball cap on his head, taking one step a time leaving his bakery for the day.

It may be due to his conscious thoughts or unconscious worries, Taehyung found himself walking towards the direction of Jungkook's studio apartment. He vaguely remembered the street and also the exact floor and number to Jungkook's unit.

In case if you're wondering, Taehyung is not planning to ambush or confront Jungkook. The brown head is sure that Jungkook would have done it for a reason and he will not be deliberately making promises to only break them apart.

He walked past Jungkook's apartment complex, gave it a few stares as he decided to return to his abode, calling it a day wishing that Jungkook will eventually get back to him. Taehyung is clueless about what happened, but you're about to find out what changed throughout the night which has caused Jungkook's absence and unresponsiveness to Taehyung today.

Flashback (The night before)

Jungkook zoomed out of the bakery with his heart racing a million miles per hour as he created a safe distance between himself and the bakery where his crush looked very much appealing to him with his seductive acts.

He didn't need long before he could notice his apartment complex coming into view. What surprised him more was the blond head figure leaning by the lobby wall, waiting undeniably for the raven head.

"Jimin?"

"Hey Kooks. What took you extra long to leave the bakery?"

"I was helping Tae in the kitchen."

The blond nodded and asked if they should head up for Jimin wanted to spend some time with the younger since they didn't get to do so for the entire day as they were busy helping out in V's Bakery. As much as Jimin enjoyed being the bakery crew, he did miss the time he used to spend with Jungkook as the younger grew distanced with him, closer to Taehyung.

Once they stepped inside Jungkook's cosy space, the blond suggested for them to play video games as the night was still relatively young, well, for Jimin at least hence he demanded the raven head to compete with him.

Few rounds must have passed in the game with Jungkook monopolising all the wins while Jimin sulked in defeat. The blond can't deny that Jungkook is a star in whatever he aspires to achieve. Just like how he gained his passion for boxing, Jungkook never ceased to use it to his best advantage by participating in matches and win cash prizes for his future.

"Kooks, are you training tomorrow?" Jimin was playing Mario, probably among the few which he can attempt to win without Jungkook's intervention.

"Mhm. In the evening." The raven head replies as he throw the console forward, landing it perfectly on the carpeted surface. With that, he stretched backwards, revealing his stone cut abs while Jimin ended his Mario game with a win.

"Woho!! Take that bitch." You can probably hear the blonde's excitement slipping through the screen to your ears as Jimin throw his tiny fist in the air while Jungkook chuckled.

"You're so happy for winning the 10th round in Mario."

"Hey. That's achievement ok?"

"Sure is Jiminie. Just like how you managed to snatch the handsome producer and wrap him around in your cute adorable fingers."

"Then talk about the boss who owns a bakery who drools over you."

Jungkook's stretching became a sudden muscle sore. The younger regained his posture as he turned to the side catching Jimin's evil smirk on his face.

"There isn't such a thing. And stop it. He doesn't like me that way. He is probably not even into guys."

"But you are." Jimin make a nonchalant face to challenge the raven head who rolled his eyes at him. "Besides, you like him don't you?"

"N-no."

"Yea right. You're not being very convincing Kooks."

Jungkook gulped. He isn't the one to lie and Jimin isn't the one cut out for bullshit. The younger knows there is no point in hiding.

"I have to tell you something Jungkook."

"What is it?"

Jimin let out a huge sigh, dropping his head back he scrunched his brow before turning his focus to Jungkook. The younger's anticipating dark orbs demanded the blond to spill the beans as soon as possible. In which, Jimin did without thinking further.

"Taehyung is off the market. He is engaged. To Maya. The girl who visited the bakery this morning."

The crackling of hope and heart can't be seen or heard but it can be feel through the manifestation of the person who endures it.

Jungkook was stone stunned. He widened his eyes with a drying throat about the information he was forced to digest. For a second, he wasn't even sure if he heard his friend right.

Taehyung? Engaged to a girl?

"I know it's a shocker or maybe not. But I heard Jin mentioned that they were engaged since high school or something. We didn't get to talk further but it has to be right given how Maya was behaving so closely with Tae and Yoongi. They go way back Kooks."

The younger remained silent. He has nothing to comment or say. He didn't even know how is he truly feeling.

"I can see the way you behave with Tae. I swear I'm not lying Kooks when I say I can see how happy you get spending time with him. It took me half a year to get into your trusted list and Tae did it in less than a month. There must be something you find comfortable and safe in him for you to do so."

That's right. Jungkook's safe haven took a tiny spot for Taehyung and it's been growing since then. The brown head earned a spot in the younger's heart which he knows there is no turning back. He won't be able to undo his crush and feelings for Taehyung. Not even when he is engaged and probably completely straight.

"I wanted to let you know earlier but I didn't get the time to. I came here to find you after the bakery but noticed you're not home. I can already guess you spent your time with him."

The raven head hugged his knees close to his chest taking in the dent to his heart with the newfound information.

"I didn't know. If I did. I wouldn't have." Jungkook said without maintaining his eye contact with the blond head. Jimin understood what he meant.

"I know Kook. I know you wouldn't have. It's not too late isn't it to back off? Maya seemed like a good girl and Taehyung didn't really show any sign of he is into guys either. It's better to manage your feelings now than later buddy." Jimin slipped himself a little closer to the younger, careful to not touch him or hug unless it's needed.

He was taken by a full on surprise when Jungkook leaped forward, knocking him back slightly on his seat with his forceful hug. The younger wasn't crying nor was he talking. The ravenette's silence remained mysterious to Jimin who decided to not push his luck. Space is something Jungkook appreciates and that space is something Jimin want to give his close friend.

Hence, they stayed there for the longest time. The abrupt disconnection of their hug caused Jimin to furrow his brow as Jungkook gasped in realisation.

"If Maya is the future daughter in law for VANTE's heir then it makes Tae...?"

"Fucking hell. Yea!" Jimin cursed his heart out when his mind finally digested Jungkook statement as both friends felt the chills down their spine.
