Chapter 1 - Destroyer

"Error." The name was spoken softly, the voice warm and well known. The owner of the name turned his head to peer at a skeleton standing behind him, a smile spreading across his features.

"Do you need something, Ink?" The skeleton did not answer, but instead stood motionless, his expression unreadable. Error stood quickly so that he was eye level, the sound of fabric swishing on his jacket muted.

"Why do you destroy?" The question caught him off guard, though he had heard it before it hit deep and opened old wounds.

"W-well, I told you already. It's my-"

"Why do you destroy?" The same question, with a hollow tone, a far cry of what the previous voice had sounded like. This time, Error felt anger rise in him, clenching his fists though he held it back.

"Ink, is this a stupid game? We've talked about it. You know why." He searched the other's eyes for the kindness and joy they always held, feeling a chill run along his spine as they lacked such feelings. They lacked anything.

"Why do you destroy?" Instead of answering, Error stayed silent, his mind reeling for an explantation.

The skeleton stepped forward stiffly, his voice growing louder as he spoke again.

"Why do you destroy?"

"I-ink, stop. Your s-scaring me.." Error moved away as the skeleton came closer, his body moving as if he were made of stone, a lifeless statue.

Fear crept through Error's mind as he bumped into a wall, his eyes wide and searching pleadingly. He let out a shaky breath and put his hands in front of him as the monster neared him, leaning so that he was inches from his face.

"Why do you take what is not yours?" Error moved his mouth to speak, but to his dismay no words came forth.

"Why do you break up the stings of their exsistance?" The skeleton's eyes bore into his, his pupils small with fear as his smile strained.

"I-"

"Why do you ruin what I have made?" Error felt his soul tremble, his body locked stiffly in place, his mouth opened, the words caught in his throat.

"Why do you hate me?!" He flinched as the skeleton yelled at him, anger masking across his face, his eyes filled with betrayal.

"Why do you wipe away my work like its nothing?!" Error felt tears burn in his eye sockets as the skeleton pushed even closer.

"Why do you destroy what I have created?!" Error slid down into a heap against the wall, trapped in by the monster's agonizing screaming, his legs pulled to his chest.

"I don't know!" He screamed back, burying his face in his arms in a futile attempt to block out the painful words.

"Why, Error? Why do you do this to me?! Why?!" He felt the questions dig into his mind, shaking his soul in their relentless grasp, his body trembling.

"I don't know! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I don't want to! I'm sorry!" His voice cracked as tears fell down his cheeks, burning the tracks into his skull and dripping onto his jacket.

"Why do you hate me, Error?!" Error scrunched his face and tried to escape, his body slamming back against the wall as the skeleton threw him back.

He cried out in pain and like up fearfully, instantly regretting the action as he saw the rage in his friend's face, the hurt and hatred.

"I don't hate you! I'm sorry! I c-"

"Why don't you destroy me?! Why don't you get rid of the creator, the one that fills your life with these useless worlds?!"

"Because I can't!" Error watched in horror as more skeletons walked up, the wall behind him replaced with the legs of those who yelled at him more and more, their voices ringing through his head.

"Why?! Why?!"

"I don't know.. I'm.. Sorry..."
