Her.

Chapter-5

"Mr.Jeon, wait!"

Shouting the words, Misul follows him out. Trying to match his pace as he was already too far ahead, she finds herself out of breath but keeps running.

Bumping into a lot of people and keeping in check so he doesn't go out of sight, she tries not shout as it would make her look like an absolute fool. But boy, does this guy walk fast or what?

Reaching the parking lot, she sees him unlocking his car. Running as fast as she could towards him, she finally reaches where he was. Crouching a bit and keeping one of  her hand on her left knee and the other holding her aching stomach, she takes a deep breath.

On other hand, Jungkook was surprised to see her. How desperate was she to follow him all the way to parking lot from the cafe.

"Mr.Jeon-

Not being able to complete her sentence, Jungkook offers her his hand to support her as she was near to passing out.

"Ms.Park, take deep breaths."

"Oh, no I'm fine, its just that.." catching her breath again she continues, "its been a while since I ran like this. Not an athlete." She tries to laugh it out but he was a bit concerned.

"Ms.Park, I already told you..."

"No, Mr.Jeon, please hear me out, your paintings deserve a better chance.I may not know the reason why you quit-

"Exactly, you don't know me." He sounded firm. A serious tone telling Misul to not force this further.

He lets go off the hand that was supporting her back and turns away to open his car door. But turns back to say his final words. "Ms.Park, there are a lot of artists who deserve chances too, consider them. Goodbye."

Which is why I need you.

But she never says it out loud.

And he drives his car away, believing that it was the last time they would ever meet.

Misul stays quite throughout, staring at the void, fully admitting her defeat. After hearing his words, she didn't feel like forcing  him.She felt like he had some really serious reasons. After all, he was right, she didn't know anything about him.

"STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!" Messing her hair and stomping her feet on the ground, full of frustration. She beats herself mentally.

"You should've had a plan B. You loser!"

How was she going to face her boss, now. Accept her defeat in front of him, being miserable. She couldn't the thought of doing that.

She felt all the doors were now closed on her. No way out.

Driving back to Misul's house, Jimin tried not to ask what exactly happened as he had already figured out that it obviously didn't work. Her emotions were screaming on her face.

However to Misul, there was something more in his silence.

"Jimin, what is it?"

"What?" There was a shift in his voice. It was a bit more defensive as if he was trying to hide something.

"Jimin, just tell me already!"

"It's nothing Misul."

"Jimin, Please!" Raising her voice a little, she was now getting impatient.

"Fine!" Jimin says but thinks again before saying. Biting his lips in denial, he just goes for it.

"Dad called."

There was this painful silence in the car, he knew that after a bad day, this would just trigger her last bit of patience. But surprisingly he heard an unexpected answer.

"Alright, lets go meet him."

"You know you don't have to go."

"No, Chim. I can't keep running from the fact that my own father hates me." She smiles, hiding away the pain she goes through every single time. How her own father despises her.

Just when she had thought the day couldn't get worse. Sigh.

Reaching their rich father's stately manorial, they first meet the oldest butler serving their family from two generations, Mr. Benson. He was the sibling's favorite. The nicest human, Misul had ever met. He was there for her like a father when her dad wasn't.

After their greetings, they head out and before going to visit their father, they  meet some other old workers who had been a major part of their childhood. All were so happy to see the siblings again. Their warm smiles were just pure bliss.

Mr.Benson, after, takes the siblings towards the dining room where they'll be meeting their father.

Looking at all the house workers, doing random chores, Misul criticizes her father's tactics.

Why does he need 10 servants, he lives alone in a big ass mansion!

The distance between the dining room and them kept  getting shorter and shorter.
Heart pounding with every step she took, sweating, Misul hoped she doesn't get panic attacks in front of him. Praying that he doesn't bring that agonizing memory, she takes a deep breath, preparing herself for whatever that was going to come at her.

Walking through the halls and rooms, they both recall the memories of their childhood. Their mischiefs and then getting scolded for it. The happy memories, the sad ones, everything. So much had changed. Their home just didn't feel like home anymore. The warmth and charm had just faded. Oh how long it had been since they had come back. The last time they were here all together was...

"Mi, we're here." Her reminiscing thoughts get interrupted when Jimin announces to her that they have reached the dining hall.

"Oh...."

Before going in, Jimin looks at her, reassuring her once again that it'll be fine. She nods her head, as if saying that she will do just fine.

Entering  the dining room, they could feel how drastically different the vibe of the rest of the house and this room were. It felt so cold and unwelcoming here. The dark coffee colored curtains blocking the sunlight coming made the room seem much more darker and colder.

The broad, long, french-polished dining table placed at the centre of the room and a fire place near it. Their father always had a classy taste. All his business deals were held in this dining room, did he bring his children for a business deal too?, One might wonder sarcastically.

While observing the changes that have been made over the years, the expected man enters the room, alarming them and other workers present in the room. The moment he stepped inside, something in Misul's stomach pinched.

His whole domineer was cold.

Four years. It had been four years since she last saw him. Oh how she wanted to just wrap her arms around him and feel the warmth of her father, but how the time had played them, they have grown apart, distant, almost strangers.

"Father." Jimin said.

"Sit." Their father, sort of, ordered or that's what it sounded like, a command.

Dinner was served  and eaten and until then all that was talked was either formal greetings or random business deals. And all of this was between Jimin and him.

How easy it was for him to ignore his own daughter. Being ignored from her father like she never existed was suffocating her. Eating every bite of her food was becoming impossible for her to eat.

Chewing and chewing. She couldn't do anything else.

Jimin was aware of her sister being rudely ignored but it was really difficult for him to break the wall within them.

"Misul." Finally, her name was called out. By him.

"Yes, father." She replies to the older man, a bit nervous but excited too. He had finally called her name t talk.

He clears his throat. "I heard you were suspended from your work."

Hearing the words, her excitement dies out. He didn't even care enough to ask how she had been.

"ummm..  yeah."

Looking back at his food, he takes a bite and continues,
"Have you not yet realized that business is not meant for you."

This harsh judgmental statement made by him infuriated Misul. Why did she even think that he would atleast not be mean to her?

"What do you mean?"

"You know exactly what I mean. You have quit Six jobs within three years and finally when you had a stable job, you got suspended!" A little raise in his voice.

"I had reasons." She tries to reason with more calm but inside her was a storm going on.

"Those reasons are stupid. You won't be able to do business if you don't compromise."

"I won't compromise, dad." She announces.

The next words rushed in the worst memories. How could he say that?

"Yeah just like you killed her because you didn't want to compromise."

"DAD!" Jimin shouted. This was now out of hand.

"What? Did I lie?! " He shouted again.

Hearing the same tormenting words from her father, the wall she had built breaks down, once again.

"I DIDN'T KILL HER!" Misul cried. Her eyes were getting teary but she kept it all in. Trying to keep herself together.

"YES! YOU DID! WE needed YOU! and you didn't come!" His eyes were bloodshot red, like he had never let go of her neither had he forgiven Misul.

He still believed that she killed her.

She failed. She failed to maintain a brave mask. Before the situation could get any uglier, she runs. Runs out of the mansion, not sparing a glance what was ahead of her, her eyes closed tightly, she just runs.

What she feared before going had now become true. He couldn't keep himself from bringing that horrible  tragedy.

"MISUL!" She hears her name being shouted, it was her worried brother.

When she turns to see, she is suddenly wrapped inside tight arms. "It's okay. It's okay..."

Misul felt numb. She wanted to cry but not there. She then untangles herself from him and looks at her brother, straight in the eyes, "I want to be alone, Jimin"

He nods in understanding. "I'll get you a cab."

Jimin was worried. He wanted to be with her but understood that she needed space.

Upon reaching her home, Misul drops herself on the floor and cries every tear she had kept in herself. Letting it all out.

Everything that tragically happened five years ago comes back rushing, haunting her. She was now reliving those traumatizing events once again. The screams of her father and that horrible sight!

Crying. Louder and Louder. This outburst even scared her. How much had she kept it in? But now letting it all out.

She got louder, she was screaming now. No one could hear her. Her ugly cries. Her tears. Her weakness. Her broken into pieces like some miserable, vulnerable creature.

No one was here. No one was here to see her crying in a dark room.

Mournful cry had now become a silent whimper. Her tears had dried out scarring her whole face. Her chest ached. Her eyes swollen and red.

"I'm sorry."

_______________________________________________________________________________

It had been a week now. She had locked herself inside her home. No one was able to contact her. She didn't pick anybody's calls. She had isolated herself from the whole world. Except when one day...

"Hello?"

"Hey, sweetheart."

"Yoongi?"
