Chapter 1 - Falling

Error's POV

The only thought going through my head that made sense was that nothing made sense. I groaned and sat up, looking around in wonder. Where... When... Why... How am I here? Looking down, I was on a variety of colorful flowers, which was unique. Looking around, I'd landed in a purple-blue version of the Ruins. I was having a really hard time getting up on one of my legs, so I decided to use my strings to make a cast and then I begrudgingly got up and moved to the next room.

He limped along, muttering "Oww.." under his breath along the way. He was expecting a yellow flower, obviously, as in most universes, but instead, he was treated to a (quite literally) seedy red flower, with what looked like a bagel in the middle, but the hole was yellow, and filled in. Rolling his eyes, he approached it.

"Howdy! I'm Bagelly. Bagelly the Bagel! You're new to the Underground, aren'tcha-"

"Cut the crap, weed. I'm a Sans, I know what's going on. Now get your 'friendly' shtick over with," Error snapped. He hated Floweys, and wasn't particularly fond of bagels, so this was a thing he wanted to get over with.

"Well, someone's feisty.. Though I don't know what a Sans is, I might as well kill you while I have the chance, skeleton!" he cackled, summoning a ton of seeds and aiming them at him. Error stood there, knowing he couldn't dodge, since he couldn't teleport and he didn't want to leave this AU. It seemed... interesting.

"You leave him alone!" A young female's voice called. Running into the room was a tall woman, wearing a navy blue buttoned dress that barely swished the floor. Her long, pretty red-brown hair was parted off to the side, held back by a music note clip. She seemed to be lacking a mouth, but it wasn't needed since her eyes were so expressive. She sang a quick, high-pitched note which appeared in her hand, then threw it at Bagelly, who hissed and fled. After that, she hurried over to Error, who was still bewildered that there was a Flowey that was a bagel.

"Oh my, are you hurt? What's your name?" She looked sad and worried as she touched his shoulder - gently, as he flinched - in sympathy.

"I-I'm m fine. A-and my name's Error," he said, stuttering. "I b-broke my l-leg, though.."

"Oh dear.." she whispered, putting a gentle hand on his leg and using healing magic. "There is no need to fear me, my name is Rebecca, I'm the caretaker here. You can just call me Becca, if you like, Error.. there! Your leg is all fixed!" she said quietly but triumphantly, standing up and holding out her hand for Error to grab.

Error untied his string cast, and carefully grabbed Becca's hand.

At Rebecca's house, Error was sitting down at a table eating pumpkin pie. It was really good, and she had made it just for him, as it was only slightly sweet. After eating, he said goodnight to her and went to bed.

In the morning, he was treated with a bowl of honey-nut toasted Cheerios and a glass of juice. At about lunchtime he ate a peanut butter banana sandwich and read a story with Becca. He then asked to see the rest of the Underground.

"But Error.. you could get hurt.."

Error sighed. "Becca, you've been so nice to me. I'm extremely powerful, and when we do fight, I don't want to dust you, because, well... Nobody's really that kind to me. I've been through a lot, and..." he trailed off, suddenly very interested in the floor. Surprisingly, he was brought into a gentle hug - and he hugged back. Maybe my haphephobia really is getting better, he thought with a smile, and left. Everyone here has been so nice.. maybe I'll stay here.

Ink's POV

"E-Error... *hic* No..."

"WHAT DID WE DO?!" I yelled, frantic,  holding my hands to my head and sitting down on a snow poff. I was trying to apologize... Maybe now I never will, I thought grimly, barely holding my tears back. I couldn't follow Error, I'd die! And Nightmare couldn't leave Cross behind, either. So here we were, stuck. Error gone, me in a panic, and Nightmare feeling so bad he had transformed into his passive form, curled up in a ball. Why do the Creators hate me so?

He's dead, and it's all our fault..
