Chapter 24

{A/N: Here is the last chapter of Paint You Wings, I hope that you've enjoyed my story. Thank you for reading. All of my love, J}

Harry had come to find that Draco added some much needed structure to his life. A schedule actually helped him to be more productive, and he found himself looking forward to his days of working with his boyfriend. The job could actually be kind of fun at points, but it proved to Harry that he was not permanently cut out for a desk job. Networking with people was fun, but the only papers Harry wanted to deal with were in his sketchbook.

This was some time ago, and Harry finally had the studio he had always dreamed of. Well, not quite what he had dreamed of. It was better, because he and Draco were co-owners and business partners now. Draco believed in Harry's vision, and he wanted to help bring it to life.

The studio was multi-purpose. Harry was able to use it for gallery showings, major projects that didn't fit in their flat, and also art classes. Harry had a knack for being around children and adored the art classes that he was able to teach. He ran classes for children of all ages, even the occasional one for adults. Some were free and others cost money, depending on the scale of what was being taught.

As he continued to live with Harry and watch him create art, Draco soon found himself yearning for that freedom once again. They would spend at least one day a week creating art together, and it was always something that Draco looked forward to.

Lucius still didn't quite support art as a serious career, but Harry had proven to him that if you put in the time and effort, you could achieve your dreams. All you needed was faith, and a loving support system, and Draco was perfect. It had taken just two more art shows for Harry to strike it big, and he was very grateful to his muse.

Harry had convinced Draco to show some of his art pieces at the shows, and they even collaborated on a few pieces. Their relationship was growing stronger everyday, and moving in together was one of the best decisions either man had ever made.

"Harry my darling, are you here?", Draco called.

"In the back my love!", Harry called back.

All of the children giggled, knowing what was to come. Draco had promised them a bit of fun on the first warm weekend that they had, and attendance was higher than it had been in weeks. No one wanted to miss this.

"Good morning my Harry. Why don't you change? I promised the kids that I'd take them outside for some activities. I'll get them ready so you have some time for yourself."

"Thank you my Draco", Harry greeted with a kiss. "They're very energetic today, it must be the weather."

"Oh I'm sure. Meet us outside when you're done?"

Draco had been planning this little prank for a few months now. He had convinced Harry that the children should wear white t-shirts when they paint as makeshift smocks to protect their normal clothes. A multitude of permission slips later, they were ready.

The children were in their clean white t-shirts, as was Draco. He had taken it a step further and bought white jeans for the occasion. All of the kids were wearing safety glasses, and were armed with water guns full of paint that was to be used for dying shirts.

When Draco had seen the paint guns he knew that he needed them. He and Harry thrived off of their teasing banter and small pranks. It kept the relationship lighthearted and fun, and Draco loved seeing the mischievous glint in Harry's eyes.

Draco did not, however, love when the kids had pranked him with glitter. Harry's punishment for that one was they had to shower together, with Harry not even thinking of the implications of that. He swore he still found traces of glitter if he looked hard enough.

For safety purposes, Draco had left Harry some safety glasses as well, just in case. He wasn't trying to maim his boyfriend, just have some fun. Or maybe, they had watched one of their favorite movies one too many times.

"Draco?", Harry called tentatively after putting the glasses on.

Harry knew that he was walking into something that would end up in chaos. With a sly grin on his face, he walked out to meet his fate.

"Fire!", Draco ordered, and soon a paint gun war ensued, and the kids were screaming and laughing, having a wonderful time.

After a few minutes, Draco told Harry where a gun for him was located, and Harry's first shot was right over Draco's heart.

"Mine", Harry mouthed with a wink, before turning to get some of the younger kids.

Draco couldn't help but get a glimpse into the future he wanted with Harry. Children, lots of laughter, and a hell of a lot of love. With a grin, he continued the paint war.

10 minutes later, the kids were exhausted and paint covered, but very happy. The two men laid the kids' shirts in the sun to dry after carefully marking whose shirt was whose. They then started removing any paint from their skin, which thankfully came off very easily. Dawn dish soap was a gift from above.

The kids had quiet time after that which Harry monitored as Draco cleaned up outside.

A grip on Draco's hips had him leaning back into his boyfriend, relaxing against him.

"I've seemingly underestimated you, my love."

"This one has been in the works for a few months now. Did you have fun?"

"The best part of the day is seeing you in these white jeans", Harry teased, nipping at Draco's neck and squeezing his arse before backing away to go inside.

"Hey Draco?", he asked before going back in.

"Yes Harry?"

"I love you."

"And I love you", Draco replied with a soft smile.

Once the kids were all gone and the studio was cleaned, the two men went back to their home. After they got changed for dinner, Harry placed his hands over Draco's eyes.

"I have a present for you."

"What's the occasion? I didn't forget something did I?"

"The occasion is that I love you. I finished it yesterday, but after today I don't know if you deserve it so soon", Harry teased.

"Can I persuade you to give me my gift?", Draco asked innocently.

"Perhaps."

Tilting his head back, Draco's lips found Harry's, his senses heightened at the lack of sight.

"I should cover your eyes more often if this is how enthusiastic you are", Harry murmured.

"Hmm I think I can get behind that my darling."

"Let me give you your present now."

Harry had worked very hard on this particular jacket for Draco. It was black denim that he had carefully painted a set of angel wings on and added embellished rhinestones. It was absolutely perfect.

"Harry, what's this?", Draco asked quietly, his fingers tracing one wing.

"I painted you wings."

"And you set me free. I love this. It's so... me."

"I'm glad. You almost found where I was working on it and I almost lost it."

"So you put glitter on the doorknob", Draco responded with a snicker.

"Hey it worked! You're a very curious man, and I didn't want you to feel like you had to do something for me in return. I did this because I love you, and I'm proud of you."

"I love you so much. I'm going to wear this out to dinner with our parents tonight."

Draco would do anything to make Harry smile that wide forever.

"I'm sure my father would love this."

"Maybe I'll give him painting lessons for his birthday."

"Oh that'll go over really well Harry", Draco replied sarcastically. "Let's just stick with the engraved watch yeah?"

"Heavy the head that bears the crown."

"Thankfully he won't get that reference. Let's go so we're not late yeah? Padfoot still scares me a little bit."

"Oh you should be more scared of Moony if anything."

With his hand discreetly pressed over the ring box in his pocket, Draco grinned at Harry.

"I'll take my chances. Freedom with you is worth everything to me Harry. This is almost what I've wanted the most."

"Almost?", Harry asked, head tilted to the side in confusion.

"We'll finish painting the picture together after dinner", Draco promised.

"I love you, even when you're being oddly cryptic. Am I getting another prank played on me?"

"Just getting covered in feathers to match my new jacket", Draco teased. "You are my favorite accessory."

"You're always going on about how I need to accessorize better, so I accept your proposal."

"Oh, if only Harry knew what was to come", Draco thought with a grin.
