Jisung was too distracted to even know what his bestfriend was talking about anymore. They walked side by side in the city of love, and all Jisung could think about was the night before, the day before.
Hyunjin was talking about something funny Changbin said at lunch, and yet Jisung could only think of Minho making lunch.
The taller stopped to buy a little painting and Jisung got lost on the tones of blue, hating how another color sticked to his brain and refused to let go.
They stopped to buy ice cream and catch up with Chan, and Jisung wandered if he knew, if he suspected, if Minho had told him.
If he knew they had slept together.
Jisung stared at his icecream, melting fast in the hot weather.
Slept together.
"How are the others doing? We still need to meet all together! You can also bring Chuu, if she doesn't mind being the only girl!", Chan smiled, speaking to them and then immediately changing the language to attend to the tourists.
Jisung's hand shook, making part of the melted ice cream call down on the floor.
"She's out with a friend today, yesterday she was mostly at home, she hates hot weather.", Hyunjin shrugged, eating a spoonful of his icecream.
His bestfriend new more about what his girlfriend had been doing lately than him.
"You okay, Jisung? You seem off.", Chan furrowed his eyebrows and the younger panicked, almost jumping as he tried his best to smile back to him.
"Not my day.", he laughed nervously. "Plus Hyunjin is mad at me."
"I'm not mad at you! We're taking a friendship walk!", the taller sounded offended, and Jisung couldn't understand wether it was fake or not.
"You seem like you have something to discuss."
"Well that's why I brought him out, he's been weird.", Hyunjin shrugged.
"Me? Weird? You're the one not talking to me!"
"I talk to you.", the taller rolled his eyes. "You're just too busy to listen. Always out and not even with Chuu anymore, where did you even go yesterday after being at Chan's?"
Jisung closed his eyes, his heart jumping at the thought of the older of the three hearing, but Chan seemed too focused on his job, trying to understand a few people who didn't speak fluent English. So he kept his voice down.
"I was out, on the town."
Hyunjin rolled his eyes.
"See, you never tell me anything anymore, and I'd like to know why-"
"It's not like you tell me anything as well, specially the important shit!"
Hyunjin's chin fell dramatically, the ice creams forgotten as the two best friends faced each other.
"What is that supposed to mean? I tell you everything!"
"And you leave out the most important parts.", Jisung mumbled.
"Like what?"
"Like the fact that you apparently have a crush on me!"
Hyunjin's ice cream fell on the floor, but no one else seemed to notice. No one seemed to notice how the taller's eyes widened, how he failed to look his bestfriend in the eyes as Jisung regretted what he had said.
He regretted it because now he could see it was true.
No one noticed as the bestfriends stood there, and no one noticed as Hyunjin started walking up the street, how Jisung called his name, chasing after the taller in the middle of the crowd.
Except Chan.
Chan noticed, Chan saw, Chan listened.
He smiled, hoping the two could talk about it, since he knew Hyunjin had been bothered by it for too long, and then he glared at the street painter that stood a few meters way from him, knowing they would have to have a little talk as they got home.
What was Jisung doing with "Chan" the day before?
—————
"Hyunjin! Stop and listen to me!" Jisung panted as they made it to a lonely street, his bestfriend using his long leg privilege to walk away from a conversation neither of them ever thought they would be having. "Please, Jinnie, we need to talk!"
"There's nothing to talk about, who even said that to you? Chuu?", he turned around finally, and Jisung's eyes widened.
He brought his hands in front of his face, waving them as he still tried to catch his breath.
The sun was too hot that day, and sweat ran down both of the boy's necks, Jisung's ice cream still half melted in his hand.
"What? N-no-"
"Then who?"
Jisung gulped, he had never seen his bestfriend so mad, his breathing was rising, his cheeks were growing red and the younger was sure it was not from blushing.
"Chuu didn't tell me anything.", he nodded along, making sure Hyunjin believed him. "None of our friends did." He lied, thinking back at Felix's conversation and making a mental note to make the younger bow down to him for not telling Hyunjin.
But then again, why did he even talk about it?
"Bullshit.", Hyunjin scoffed, running a hand through his hair. "Never thought we had to leave the country to lose my bestefriend."
Jisung's chin fell, hearing the taller's defeated voice as he stepped closer to a garden bench and sat there staring blankly at the street.
"What the hell are you talking about?" He asked, and his bestfriend's voice was not louder than a whisper as he answered.
"We can't be as close now that you know. You'll find it weird and-"
"Oh shut the fuck up.", Jisung rolled his eyes, not believing the drama he was hearing. He slapped the taller's head and laughed at the whine, staring into HyunJin's confused eyes and kneeling in front of him.
"How could I ever stay away from you? You watch too many Kdramas, why would I grow apart from you, silly?"
The taller shrugged, looking down.
"You already grew apart from me when you started dating Chuu, it would just be logical that the last drop would be me liking you."
Jisung sighed, dropping his hands on Hyunjin's lap and pulling the older's closer.
"Do you, though? Now?"
"What do you mean?"
Jisung smiled. "I'm too much to get over easily, I know." He swung his imaginary long hair backwards. "I'm too much to handle, a person can't even even try to-"
"Move on, please."
Hyunjin pretended to be bored, grateful for how his bestfriend was acting.
"Right. Seungmin?", he wiggled his eyebrows, watching the older's eyes shot down. "I wanted to ask about him today, you two have been put a lot together."
Hyunjin didn't shut up about him again, and even though he made it clear he could not simply forget Jisung in that way, Jisung also made it clear that he did not mind or cared, and was not going to stay away from his bestfriend.
They went on and on walking during the whole day, and Jisung tried his best to keep his mind of what he would have to deal later, when the bubble he created around him and Hyunjin popped, when Chuu came back from her friend's company and hugged him like she did, kissed him, not knowing his lips had been someone else's for a night.
How Felix would look at him, knowing something had happened by the boy's mood, ask him about it, how he would have to keep it to himself.
He spent the whole afternoon pretending to hear every single word that Hyunjin said about Seungmin, wishing it was that easy for him.
He scoffed at himself at the thought every time it crossed him mind.
Easy? It was easy.
He had a girlfriend he loved, he was with her at the city of love. Everything was great.
And yet he could only see how the blue sky and the blue sea were so alike and yet so different.
How Hyunjin's cheeks held a thousand tones of red as he spoke about his crush.
How the world seemed so much brighter, with so many colors that he was only now starting to see.
