Chapter 6: Confessions
(A/N This chapter is dedicated to Book_Worm_Girl_IzzyZ for being the first person to comment on any of my chapters and for showing such liking for this book. This chapter is going to be really long, I can tell. Book_Worm_Girl_IzzyZ, I am writing this chapter for you. Hope you like it!)
Annabeth's P.O.V.
I woke up in a white room, not knowing where I was. I bolted upright in the bed I was lying on. "Percy!" I yelled, it was instinct to call for him when I was scared or unsure of anything. My head whipped around to take in my surroundings. "Percy!" I cried again as I didn't recognize anything and my mind was still muddled. Where am I? What happened? What's going on? Where is Percy?! Everything clicked into place when my door burst open and people in white coats came rushing in. Doctors. My memories came flooding back to me. I must be at a hospital. But now it was even more important to find my boyfriend. "Percy!" I started to cry. "Where's Percy? Where is he? I want Percy!" I began to sob. The doctors tried to calm me, but I continued to call our for my boyfriend as tears fell down my face in rivers.
"Sweetie, he's alright. Percy is going to be just fine. But right now, we need to take care of you, okay dear? Come on, calm down. It's alright. Everything is going to be alright." A nurse said, placing her hand on my arm. But I continued to bawl like a baby.
"I want Percy! I need Percy! I need my Seaweed Brain!" The nurse turned to one of the doctors. She muttered something in his ear and he fled the room with a few others he beckoned to join him.
"We're going to take you to Percy, okay dear? Does that sound alright? We're taking you to Percy, okay? It's gonna be just fine. We're going to take you to Percy now." The nurse said calmly. I sniffled and looked at her with filled eyes and a tear streaked face.
"Really? You're gonna take me to Percy? To my Percy?" My voice shook as I asked her if she was telling the truth. She nodded, pushing me back down so I was lying on the sheets again.
"Yes dear. You're going to go see Percy. We're gonna take you to him, alright?" I nodded weakly and turned my head to watch as they quickly began to roll my bed out of the room and down the halls, turning corners and twisting this way and that until we reached another room. "Okay, sweetie. Percy is in here. But he's sleeping right now, m'kay? You're gonna have to be quiet and let him get his rest, alright?" I nodded rapidly, anxious to see me Seaweed Brain.
Slowly, the nurses and remaining doctors rolled my bed into the room, feet first. I lifted my head and tried to sit up, but someone pushed me down again. So again, I lifted my head and strained to see Percy.
When I saw him, I gasped and dropped my head back to the pillows and started to silently cry. He looked like he did after the car crash, pale, weak, and vulnerable. Hooked up to machines that beeped and buzzed, that fed liquids and medicines into his prone form. Breathing tubes were stuck up his nose, feeding air into his lungs.
Then I took a minute to take in my own condition and determined that I probably didn't look much better. I felt the breathing tubes on my face and saw all the IV's in my arms and heard the beeps and buzzes of the machines attached to them. I saw that my skin was pale white and I felt tired, now that I had seen Percy, I saw no reason to stay awake.
By now, the doctors had wheeled my bed into the room and stopped it next to Percy's. As my eyes drifted close, and I began to give in to sleep, a hand rudely grabbed my arm and jerked me. I squeezed my eyes shut and mumbled something like, 'go away. I'm sleepy.' But even I couldn't understand. I was to tired.
"Sweetie, you have to stay awake dear. Just stay awake for a little bit longer, dear. Then you can sleep. Come on, sweetie. Wake up. Just for a little bit longer." I vagely recognized the voice of the nice nurse from earlier who told me that I could come here and see Percy.
"But I'm tired, ma'am. I'm really tired." I said softly, opening my eyes a crack and looking for her. I found her and looked in her eyes. "I just want to sleep for a bit, miss. Take a short nap. Please, ma'am?" I begged her to let me sleep. I was so tired. I couldn't even keep my eyes open anymore. They drifted closed and I heard her sigh.
"Come on gentlemen. She's already asleep. Let's let her have some more sleep and we'll check on her when she wakes up." She said. A cold hand touched my forehead and I shivered involuntarily. "Let her be." The kind nurse scolded and the hand disappeared. I heard the door open, then close again as people walked out. I snugged down into the blankets of the hospital bed.
"G'night, Percy." I slurred, it was habit to tell him good night. I did every night before we went to sleep either in person or through Iris-Message. "I love you, Seaweed Brain."
"Good night, dear. I'll be here when you wake up. Don't worry." There was a soft kiss on my forehead and I slipped into the waiting arms of sleep.
Poseidon's P.O.V.
I walked into Percy and Annabeth's room, being careful to be quiet so as not to wake them. I sat down next to my son and gripped his hand. Why you, Percy? I thought sadly. It's always you, my son. And I am sorry, so very sorry.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when two nurses came into the room. "Hello," One of them said, she had long blond hair and dark brown eyes. "You are Poseidon Olympian?" She asked. I nodded, keeping Percy's hand held tight in mine.
"We're gonna have to ask you to leave please." The other nurse spoke. She had red hair and blue eyes. "We need to check on them and we don't want anyone else in here incase he looses control or goes wild again."
I blinked. "What do you mean 'incase he looses control or goes wild again'?" I said, looking worriedly at my son.
"Last time he woke up, he started screaming and thrashing and then he started yelling for 'Annabeth' and that she needs to run and that 'he' needs to 'stay the Hades away from her.' We had to sedate him. We probably could have avoided it if we hadn't had to sedate Annabeth an hour before. She had woken up screaming, shaking, sobbing, calling for him, and she was hysterical. We couldn't calm her down. She kept shrinking away from us and yelling at us, 'where's Percy? What have you done to Percy? Where is he? Percy! Percy, help me! Percy!' And so we gave up on calming her down and just sedated her. If she had kept going, she would have agrivated her wounds. And she was disturbing the other patients. So, with her under, we couldn't calm Percy down and so we had to sedate him. We gave him a lighter one, so he would wake up about the same time as she did. Which, is any minute now, so shoo!" The blond said, shooing me out of the room. And as soon as the door closed behind me, the screaming started.
Percy's P.O.V.
(A/N Well, that's new. I haven't done Percy in a few chapters! =D)
My eyes flew open and I screamed. Tartarus. We were in Tartarus. Annabeth was hurt. Where was Annabeth? "Annabeth! Annabeth, where are you! Annabeth!" Hands grabbed me and voices talked to me, but I couldn't understand what they were saying. They all sounded like monsters. They all wanted to hurt me and take me away from Annabeth and hurt her. "Annabeth! Help me!! Get off! Get off of me! Where's Annabeth? What have you monsters done to her? If you've hurt her, I swear that you will rot down here in hell forever! Give her back! Where the Hades is Annabeth? Annabeth!" I thrashed, trying to get the hands of the monsters off me.
"Percy!" It was Annabeth. Annabeth screamed. Annabeth needed me. Annabeth was in trouble. "Percy! Where are you! Percy, please! Where is he? Where is Percy!" Annabeth. Annabeth needed me.
"Annabeth! Annabeth, I'm here! Where are you! Annabeth!" I whipped my head from side to side, still struggling against the arms holding me down, trying to see Annabeth and the monsters in the inky blackness of this pit. "Annabeth!"
"Percy! Percy, are you okay? Percy have they hurt you? What have they done to you?" Annabeth called for me. I tried to find her but I couldn't see anything. It was too dark in Tartarus.
"Annabeth! Where are you? I can't see you! I'm fine, but are you alright? Annabeth, what have they done to you? Where are you? Annabeth, help me! They won't let go!" I started to cry. They wouldn't let go. They are going to kill me and I'll never see Annabeth again. "Annabeth, help me please!" I was sobbing. I stopped struggling against the hands holding me down and just sobbed. "Help me, Wise Girl! Please!"
Annabeth's P.O.V.
(A/N Wow. I do her a lot. Oh well. I like Annabeth's P.O.V.)
"Let him go! Let him go! Percy, I'm going to help you, okay? I'm going to help you!" I looked around, seeing only the dark landscape of Tartarus. Then I blinked and I thought I saw a white hospital room and nurses that held me down as I thrashed.
Everything came rushing back to me.
We weren't there anymore.
Gabe.
The trial.
What happened after the trial.
I stopped struggling against the people holding me back and blinked again, clearing the image of Hell from my eyes. I looked at the confused nurses calmly. "Let me help him." I said.
"Annabeth! They won't let go! Annabeth, please, I can't lose you! Where are you!" I could hear Percy sobbing to my left. I turned my head and saw a bunch if nurses clustered around another bed.
"Percy, I'm fine. You are fine. I'm going to get them off of you. It's going to be alright." I soothed him then turned back to the nurses holding on to me. I glared at them. "Let me go. I need to help him. Let me help him." The nurses quickly stumbled back from my bed and I sat up, swinging my legs over the side. I stood up and looked at all the machines I was hooked up to. I rolled my eyes and ripped the IV's out of my arms. The nurses shrieked in protest but once I glared at them, they shut up. I slowly walked over to Percy's bed. I grabbed the nurse closest to me and ripped her off my boyfriend.
He looked terrible. He was pale, his eyes were wide and filled with fear as he sobbed and attempted to pull away from the hands all over him. Not to mention the scars on his face from when Gabe whipped him there. I guess I have scars on my face as well. But right now, all that matters is Percy. I glared at all the nurses surrounding my Seaweed Brain, and they all quickly backed off, their hands help up in surrender and their eyes wide in fear as all color drained from their faces. I internally smirked and then turned back to Percy. My expression softened and I gently reached out a hand and placed it softly on his tear-stained cheek. He whimpered and flinched, shrinking back.
My heart broke and I slowly climbed into the bed with him, wrapping my arms around him protectivley. "Percy, baby it's alright. It's me. It's Annabeth. We are safe. I am safe. You are safe. We aren't there anymore. We're safe. We're free from that place. We're in a hospital. Those weren't monsters, they were nurses. It's safe. Everything is alright. Come on, Perce, snap out of it. Everything is fine. Gabe isn't here. He won't hurt you either. After that whole thing in the Justice Building, I'm sure that he's going to go to jail for ever. He will never hurt you again. We are free from that place and he will never come near you. You are safe. I am safe. We are safe." I continued to mutter comforting things in his ear as he shook and cried.
Eventually, he calmed down and hugged me back, burying his head in my shoulder. "I'm sorry." He sniffled and mumbled, his voice muffled from my hospital gown and rough from crying.
"What ever for, Seaweed Brain?" I asked him gently.
"Everything." He said softly, pulling his face from my shoulder and fixing his blind eyes on my face somehow. He reached up a hand and placed it gently on my cheek, brushing it with his thumb. "You got hurt because of me. Gabe was right. I am useless. I am a freak. I am a waste of space." He turned his head away and let his hand drop but I still saw the tears starting to fall again.
"No." I said firmly, grabbing his face and making him look at me. Well, making him face me, since he's blind and all... Anyway... "None of this is your fault. Gabe was wrong and so are you. You are not worthless. Have you forgotten how many lives you've saved? You are not a freak. Sure you're a son of the big three, and your life is harder than most demigods', but you are in no way a freak. And you are not a waste of space. You have saved so many lives, done so much, been through so much, and mean so much to so many people. If anything, Gabe is the waste of space. When have I ever been wrong? I love you, Percy. And nothing will ever change that. You are everything to me. I don't know what I'd do without you. I'd probably be dead a thousand times over. The world wouldn't be here right now without you. I love you with every fiber of my being. I love you with everything I am. You are my everything, my world, my soul mate, my other half. You are my Seaweed Brain and I love you and I will never leave you and I don't know what I did to deserve someone as perfect you in my life, but whatever it was, I will forever be thankful. Because you are here and you are mine, and I will never let you go." Tears stung my face and slid down my cheeks. Percy let out a strangled sob. "Are you alright? Am I hurting you?" I said, pulling away only to have him pull me back closer than before.
"I don't know what I did to deserve someone as perfect as you, Annabeth Chase. How you can think I am perfect is beyond me. My life is seriously fucked up and you are about the only good thing in it. Without you, I probably would have killed myself a long time ago. I sucked you into my shitty life and now we're both here, sitting in hospital beds because my stepdad is an abusive son of a bitch and I'm weak and useless and can't stand up to him. Because I got in a godsdamn car accident and have a mangled leg, a useless hand, and I'm blind. I love you so much, and I would fall into Tartarus again, even alone, for you. If you tell me to jump down there, I will do it. If you tell me to kill myself, I will do it. If you tell me to try my best to stay alive, then I will. I will do anything you tell me, unless of course, it compromises your safety. Like, if you were in trouble and you told me to stay away, I would not stay away. Or if I could save you or any of our friends by handing myself over to the bad guys or by doing something extremely stupid and exceedingly dangerous that none of you would want me to do, I would do it even if you told me not to. Because I love you with everything I am. I love you and all I want is for you to be happy and for you to be safe. If you being happy is the short-term cost of you being safe, then I will sacrifice a few days of your happiness to make sure that you stay safe. You safety is always more important. I love you, Annabeth. I love you and I will never leave you. And in my eyes, you are the living example of perfection. In fact, last time I saw Aphrodite, before I went blind of course, she looked exactly like you. You are perfect and I don't know what I did to deserve you in my fucked up life, but having you here makes everything worth it. Even if you think that you are the one who does not deserve me, trust me, it's me that doesn't deserve you. I love you Wise Girl."
Tears fell from my eyes and I nodded, knowing he wasn't going to let me win this one. His speech was beautiful though. That was why I was crying.
"Annabeth? Are you okay? What's wrong?" Percy asked me, pulling away from our hug and raising his hand to place it on my cheek. I covered it with my own and nodded again, not trusting my voice.
"Um... If you two are done with... uh... Whatever this is, can we please check up on you guys? And get you back in your bed and put your IV's back in?" A voice coughed behind us. I whipped my head around and blushed. I had forgotten about the audience of nurses from earlier that had to hold us down. Percy's hand moved from my cheek to my chin and he turned my head so that I was facing him again. He swiftly placed a soft, lingering kiss on my lips and then pulled away. He turned his face toward the sound of the nurse's voice.
"Yeah. We're done." Then he turned back to me. "Go back to your own bed, Annabeth. I'm fine now." He flashed a small smile and shoved me playfully. I laughed and shoved him playfully back then I got out of bed with him and walked back over to mine, smiling, and crawled in.
-------Time Lapse!!! (A few days)-------
I walked toward Percy, we were both being released today, and placed a hand on his shoudler. He turned toward me and smiled. "Let's go, Wise Girl." He said, reaching out and finding my hand and encircling it in his own. I helped him walk since his brace was broken and Leo was still fixing it and his cane was lost somewhere in New York after he dropped it and I rushed him back to Camp. He hopped along with his hand slung over my shoulder and my arm wrapped around his waist.
Walking outside, I saw that Apollo was waiting for us in a dark-blue maserati. (A/N The car at the top of the page. Also, please listen to the song next to it. Just swipe and it'll bring you to it.) I laughed and told Percy. He smiled and followed me to it. "Hey, Apollo," He said as I guided him into his seat and helped him get buckled. Then I slid into my own seat in the back next to him and Apollo pulled away.
"So, how are you two feeling?" He said, glancing at us in the rearview mirror. I stuck my tongue out at the back of his head and Percy rolled his eyes.
"As well as can be expected after all the shit that happened, Apollo. I'm still blind, still can't walk without a brace and a cane, still have a lame hand, and as of yet, am still in the custody of my abusive stepfather who put me in the hospital on multiple occasions, this being the most recent because he took his barbed leather belt and whipped me and my beautiful girlfriend. How do you think I am?" Percy said sarcastically. I looked over at him and frowned.
"Percy, the Judge herself saw what happened. There is no way that Gabe is getting out of a sentence of jail for life. Or better yet, I bet he'll go to prison for life." (A/N There is a difference right?) I said, reaching over a hand to comfortingly rub his back. "And even Gabe's lawyer looked ready to side against him after he questioned you. You've got nothing to worry about, baby. I won't let him anywhere near you this time. If he's waiting at the doors again, we will go out another way. And if he so much as looks like he's even thinking of coming close to you, I will beat his smelly ass so hard and he will fucking regret ever coming near you. His shitty face will be bloody and broken by time I'm done with him. His whole damn body will be bloody and broken by time I'm done with him. Do you hear me? That dumbass mortal monster is never coming anywhere fucking near you again." I raged, ranted, promised, and comforted at the same time. (A/N WARNING: EXTREME SWEARING AHEAD!!! It's a little late for that, isn't it? So, instead; WARNING: EXTREME SWEARING ABOVE!!! XP) Percy's eyes were wide and his mouth slightly agape. My heart broke again. He still believes what Gabe tells him. The next time I see that son of a bitch, I'm going to teach him a fucking thing or two. Regardless of whether that basterd is anywhere near my Seaweed Brain or not. I silently promised myself.
He took a deep breath, squeezed his eyes shut, and started to mutter something under his breath. I leaned closer so I could hear. "He is not right. He is wrong. You matter. You are not worthless. You have friends that care. That actually care. You have a girlfriend that loves you. Who really loves you. People care. You are worth something. You are not useless." Percy kept muttering these things to himself all the way to the court house. I nearly sobbed. As it was, I did let a few tears slip down my face. I quickly wiped them away.
We pulled up outside the courthouse and Apollo let us out. "Come on, Percy." I said, opening his door and helping him out. We walked up to the doors and I was about to open them, when Percy hesitated. "What's wrong, Perce?" I asked him.
"Gabe's gonna be here. He's going to find a way to get me alone and hurt me again." His hand reached up and brushed against the new scars on his face before dropping back across my shoulder. I subconsciously reached up my own hand and brushed the matching scars on my face as well before responding.
"Percy, I will be stuck to your side like glue. We can pass it off like PTSD to the mortals. Cause what happened will probably seem really traumatic to them so we have every reason to be extremely scared of him and stuck to each other. After all, we went through that together. It'll seem totally fine to everyone. And may I remind you that if Gabe beings his ugly ass anywhere near us, he will be bloody and broken and scared as hell of me." I soothed my boyfriend, rubbing small circles on his back. He took a deep breath and nodded.
"Alright. Let's go." Together, we walked into the courthouse. Approaching the courtroom, I pressed closer to Percy's side and shrank into my self a little. Percy did the same, both of our eyes widening in fear and apprehension, even if only one of us could see. I slowly pushed open the door and we inched our way inside. Everyone was looking at us. My eyes flicked frantically across the gathered people. I sighed. He wasn't here yet. I told Percy this and he relaxed a bit as well. Glancing around again, I saw our friends' eyes on us, each pair filled with worry and extreme anger. Even Jason looked worried about us and mad at Gabe. I was a little worried about them. With how angry they seemed, how were their powers not out of their control?
Looking closer, I saw that their powers were acting out. Though, they appeared to be keeping a pretty tight grip on them. Thalia sparked with electricity, but the sparks were small and against her electric-blue shirt you wouldn't notice them if you weren't looking for them. Her eyes had the look of a raging storm. Leo's eyes flickered with a fiery light and a small flame danced between his fingertips. Frank's eyes seemed to change to those of a feral animal, glinting with a savage rage. Clarrise was starting to flicker red, like the beginnings of the blessing of Ares, her eyes filled with hatred and anger. Around Nico, the air seemed to grow darker as the shadows were pulled towards him, the ground shaking a little as the dead tried to crawl to the surface. Will was clenching and unclenching his hands like he wished he had his bow. A quick glance around the room shows that Hazel's power is at work but clamped down on as well. All the precious metals and stones, anything from under the earth is quivering and pulling, swaying, pointing, bending, or reaching her way, her golden eyes flashed with anger and her small hands were balled into tight fists at her sides. Jason hovered about a half inch off the ground. Piper kept her mouth clamped shut. All of the mortal guys were staring at her and drooling a little. She noticed this.
"Stop looking at me!" She yelled. Her charmspeak was so strong, that even Percy and I, who are immune to even Aphrodite's charmspeak, turned our heads the other way and look somewhere else for a second before we overcame it and looked back at her in shock. She seethed in rage. Her kaleidoscope eyes seemed to flash red. Rachel's eyes glowed slightly and she looked ready to issue a prophecy that dictated that Gabe would die a thousand deaths and then spend his afterlife in the Fields of Punishment or rotting away in the horror of Tartarus. I glanced at Reyna and shivered in fear. If looks could kill, everyone she looked at would already be dead. Her gaze was terrifying. She was standing, like all our friends had been doing since Percy and I walked in, her form rigid and menacing. Her eyes almost seemed to glow with a cruel light a murderous snear turned her mouth down and all the anger she held twisted her face into an ugly, horrifying mask. I bet even the most trained and the bravest and the most fearless soldiers or assains would wet themselves under her gaze. Her cold demeanor filled the space around her. But Reyna's anger and determination and utter hatred of Gabe rolled of her in waves so strongly, you could practically see it. I guess that she was helping everyone by amplifying their emotions with her own. A child of Bellona thing she told me about.
Percy and I froze in the isle, staring at our friends who stared back. For a moment, everything was still. Then our friends' expressions changed from anger to worry and love and all their powers seemed to just flow out of them as the exploded out of their seats and rushed to us. Thalia was the first to reach us. She threw herself at us and her arms encircled us in a tight hug. "You idiots! You got yourself in the hospital again, Kelp Head! And get me started on you, Bird Brain!" She scolded us. I smiled shyly and Percy flashed a ghost of his crooked grin.
"Only you, Thals." He said quietly.
Hazel was the next to reach us. "Percy! Annabeth!" She exclaimed and threw her arms around us, and Thalia since she hasn't removed herself from us yet. "You two get in more trouble than anyone I've ever known! I swear, you two are trouble magnets! You don't need to go looking for trouble. It always finds you and follows you around like a lost kitten!" She buried her face in Percy's shoulder and cried. He wrapped his free arm around her. "You are so right about that, Haze." I said softly.
The rest of our friends reached us and they all threw themselves I to a giant group hug, with Percy and I at the center. Each one of them had something to say to us. Even Jason wasn't his usual bitchy self towards Percy and I. They all escorted us to our seats and then sat behind us, tense and looking ready to jump to our defence or to our aid at the slightest indication that we would need either. Sitting down, I curled into Percy's side and he rested his his head on top of mine. Poseidon looked over at us and reached out a hand to put on his son's knee. Percy jumped a bit before he figured out who it must be and relaxed. "Hey, dad." He whispered, another ghost of his crooked smile flashing across his face.
"Hello, son. We will get him. He will never hurt you again. I promise." The sea god patted Percy's knee comfortingly. Suddenly, there was a loud bang behind us and everyone whirled around toward the sound. I stated with fearful eyes as Gabe sauntered into the room, walking with a smirk on his face and looking like he owned the world. I saw most of our friends suppress growls behind us. But there were a few, such as Nico, Clarrise, Thalia, and Reyna, who didn't even try. They just growled and snarled and glared at him, openly displaying their deep loathing (A/N Unadulturated Loathing. For your face. Your voice. Your clothing. Let's just say... I loath it all! Sorry. Middle of a sentence. Weird place to put this... I like that song. Anyone recognize it?) for him. He ignored it all and looked straight at Percy and I. I shrank farther into my boyfriend and Gabe flashed a feral smile. Percy stiffened and continued to stare straight ahead.
"Is it him? Is he here? Is it Gabe?" He asked quietly. I nodded my head, knowing that with his head still resting on mine, he would feel it. Percy shuddered slightly at my confirmation and shrank closer to Poseidon, wrapping his arms protectivley around me and pulling me with him.
Gabe gave one more evil grin and he walked to his seat. As soon as he sat down, a new Judge, not the daughter of Iris, called the court to order. "We are here today on the continuation of the hearing of Gabe Ugliano, accused of child abuse by Poseidon Olympian and sued for custody of his stepson by the same man, the boy's biological father. I am here today because Judge Lilly Thorne, the Judge formerly presiding over this case, is a witness to Mr. Ugliano's most recent abuse of his stepson and would like to testify. Mr. Downey, call forward your first witness please." Poseidon's lawyer stood and walked forward to stand in front of the witness's box.
"I would like to call forward Judge Lilly Thorne." He said. The daughter of Iris stood from her seat hidden among our friends and walked toward him. "Tell us what you saw, Ms. Thorne." Mr. Downey said once she reached her spot. She took a deep breath.
"My day was over, so I was going home after the first day of this case ended. I had just finished going over the case and locking up my office and was heading to my car, when Mr. Poseidon comes running out of the building, yelling for me to stop. He said, 'Annabeth sent me to get you! Gabe has Percy.' I went with him as he ran back into the building. I followed him until we reached a set of bathrooms. Annabeth was sitting against the wall outside it sobbing. As we had come running, we had heard screaming. I then realised that it was Percy because of whatever Gabe was doing to him. Poseidon knelt next to the girl and tried to get through to her while I stood there, not sure what to do. Then, Gabe dragged Percy out of the boy's bathroom holding a belt. Both the boy and the belt were covered in blood and I screamed. Poseidon turned to face me as Gabe dropped Percy to the floor and lunged for me, hurting me on the head and knocking me out. The next thing I know, Poseidon is shaking me awake and frantically telling me to call nine-one-one. I look around and see why. Percy and Annabeth are laying on the floor, both in puddles of their own blood. Their clothes were shredded and blood covered them. There were whip marks from Gabe's belt on there faces, but that was all I could see through all that horrible red. I called nine-one-one and soon, and ambulance appeared, taking Percy, Annabeth, Poseidon, me, and even Gabe to the hospital." She finished with tears in her eyes. Mr. Downey nodded and sent her back to her seat.
"Gabe Ugliano, please come forward." He called. Gabe walked toward the witness's box smirking. I wondered what that was all about. I'm worried what he's going to say. "Mr. Ugliano, what is your version of what happened?" Mr. Downey asked.
"I waited by the doors for Annabeth and the punk to come out. When they walked last me, I grabbed Percy's arm and was going to drag him and the girl to the bathrooms and whip them. The punk sent the girl running and so I dragged him off alone and whipped him on the bathroom. I'm in there hurting him and liking it and the sounds he makes and all the tears he's crying. Suddenly, I hear shouting outside and so I drag Percy to his feet and pull him out. I knocked out the Judge, and threw Mr. Olympian into the wall. I turned to Annabeth and dropped Percy to the floor. She then lunged for me and attacked me, though, I can't say it wasn't provoked. Because it was. And she broke my arm and a few ribs, but I did manage to beat her eventually, then I whipped her. I'm having a good time listening to her cries and then there's this angry yell behind me. Mr. Olympian had shook off his daze from hitting the wall and was coming for me. He pulled me away from Annabeth and threw me into the wall. After that, I woke up in the hospital." Gabe was still smirking. Everyone else had their mouths hanging wide open in shock. What is he up to?
"So you don't deny it then?" Mr. Downey asked slowly. Gabe shook his head.
"Nope. Not at all. In fact, everything that the punk and his friends have been telling you is true. I do abuse that son of a bitch. I also tried to kill him. That car crash he and his mother were in? Yeah, I payed the driver of the black truck to hit them. It was supposed to kill the punk, not Sally. But I didn't really care which one of you died. If he died, then I didn't have to deal with him anymore. If Sally died, then I didn't have to deal with her anymore. So," He turned to stare at Percy and I. "I killed Sally."
My head snapped toward Percy. He was sobbing. "Percy," I said, but he pulled himself to his feet. "Percy, wait!" I said as he stumbled and cried, pulling himself out of the courtroom with the help of the railings and the backs of seats. Gabe was laughing insanely. I jumped up and ran after Percy. "Percy! Come back! Percy!" I cried, pushing through the doors and coming to a stop in the lobby.
He couldn't have gone far, his leg didn't work and wouldn't support him enough to get him anywhere without something else to help. "Percy!" I scanned the lobby, turning in a circle as I looked for my boyfriend. "Percy!" I called again, hoping for a response.
"Annabeth!" A voice called behind me as the courtroom doors opened again. I whirled around to face whoever it was, my face locked in an angry snarl and I was ready to give them a few choice words. I saw who was and sighed, slouching as they ran up to me and wrapped their arms around me. "Annabeth, I'll help you look. He couldn't have gone far." I looked up nodded.
"Thanks, Apollo."
Poseidon's P.O.V.
I stared at Annabeth as she ran out of the room after my son, wishing I could follow but knowing that I had to stay and see what happened after Gabe's confession. So instead, I look imploringly at Apollo. Sending him a mind message.
Apollo, go after her. He looked back at me, his face grave and nodded.
Of course, Uncle P. Apollo responded in my mind, standing up and running out the door. I turned back to the judge and Gabe's smug face. I held back a snarl and resisted the urge to smite that basterd. Instead, I just scowled and squeezed Amphitrites hand so hard, she squeaked in protest. I gave her and apologetic smile and released my death grip on her hand.
The Judge opened his mouth and looked about to say something when Gabe said something else, a victorious smile on his face. My eyes widened and I jumped to my feet, sprinting out the door and yelling my son's name, I could hear his friends behind me, some of them following me, and some staying behind to scream at Gabe. I looked frantically for my son, Apollo, and Annabeth, Gabe's words ringing in my ears.
"But Perseus Jackson is going to die. I made sure of that."

Long chapter! One of the longest so far. Right up there next to... um... was it chapter 3? Eh.
I love cliffhangers. Don't You? Just wish I had one right here... Oh wait! I do! Haha!!!! *evil laugh* i love doing this to you guys. In my opinion, the ONLY way to end a chapter is on a cliffhanger. At least it isn't as bad as Uncle Rick's 'oh look! Percabeth just fell into Tartarus! Let's end it here and make my readers wait a year before I publish the next book!'
Mine's not quite that bad...
Don't kill me! Or you'll never know what happens next! I am sorry about the long wait. I was going to put a pause on this to work on my other story Save Me If You Can, but then Book_Worm_Girl_IzzyZ was so nice and really wanted another chapter, so here is this... what would you guys call it? Evilness? Yeah. Here's this evilness of a chapter with its evil ending.
I will try to get another chapter up as soon as I can.
Hope you enjoyed this! *evil grin along with more evil laughter*
Yours in demigodishness and all that,
Annabeth_Jackson_12 <3
