Chapter 4: Hidden Truths Aren't So Hidden Anymore
Thalia's P.O.V.
I paced anxiously around camp, Annabeth just ran off, and the fire in her eyes as she talked about a monster that Percy might be facing and could possibly not beat. She had left almost three hours ago. It was almost dark as the sun sank into the glistening sea off the shore of the sound.
"Thalia!" I heard a voice call my name and I turned to face it. "Thalia, has Annabeth returned with Percy yet?" It was Hazel, she ran up to me with Frank at her side.
I shook my head. "No. But they better get here soon or else I'm going to go out looking for the both of them. And when I find them, I'm going to give them both a good smack upside the head for worrying everyone so much." I said, glancing worridly at the sky. They had to get back soon. Just then, I saw a shape hustling through the sky and streaking toward Camp. "Look!" I pointed to the shape and sprinted to Half-Blood Hill, where it looked like the shape was coming to land.
I stood beneath my tree, Hazel and Frank beside me, as the shape became clearer. It was a pegasus, and it had two people on its back. I gasped. It was Annabeth and Percy, I'd recognize her name of wild bling curls and his mop of raven black hair anywhere! But, there was something wrong. Percy was slouched and his eyes were closed, I couldn't see their sea-green sparkle. Annabeth clung onto him st though her life depended on it, her grey eyes wide and filled with urgency as they came hurtling towards the hill where we stood.
"Thalia! Get help!" I heard Annabeth call down from the back of the winged horse. I turned and sprinted I to camp, my hunter speed getting me to the Zeus cabin in a flash.
"Jason! Jason, where the Hades are you! Annabeth and Percy need your help! Jason, get your jealous, selfish, dumb, flying ass out here right now and help!" I yelled into the space. I heard grumbling and a few random crashes.
(A/N Be prepared. Here comes a dose of Jealous Jason!)
"Why should I help them, Thalia? They're the great Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase! They can do anything!" He said sarcastically and he appeared around the stature of our father in the middle of the room.
"Because they're about to crash on a pegasus on Half-Blood Hill and if you don't help them, then I will kick your sorry was from here to next century!" I grabbed his arm and dragged him out of the cabin, pulling him at a ful sprint to the top of Half-Blood Hill.
"Thalia!" Jason yelled, "Thalia, let go of me! Let go of me right now!" He struggled against my iron grip, trying to pull away, by to just tightened my hold and he winced. "Percy! Thalia, that hurts!" He stopped struggling and instead decided to start running with me, probably trying to get me to alleviate so.e of the pressure on his arm. I smirked. I always got my way.
We reached the top of the hill where Frank and Hazel still stood, watching the incoming flying horse and out two friends. "Jason, fly up there and help them to not crash. Frank, go get Chiron. Hazel, go find Will." I said and immediately my two friends ran to do the tasked I had assigned them. My brother just stood there, glaring at me. "Now, dumbass." I snarled, glaring back. He stood there. "Now." I growled again. He withered under my fierce gaze and he nodded reluctantly, scowling. He harnessed the winds and flew up to my falling friends.
I heard Annabeth yelling angrily and him and Jason yelling angrily back. I shook my head, feeling useless and lost. I had lost Jason once, then I had gotten him back. But this wasn't the little boy I knew. The is Jason, this Jason I hate. I hate him, I can't stand this Jason. He's a jealous son of a bitch.
Finally, Jason got Annabeth to let him help them not crash. I could tell that she was really worries about something. And I bet I can guess exactly what: Percy. I mean, he was slumped on the back of the pegasus, his eyes closed, leaning on Annabeth and not making a sound as she argues with Jason. He was doing absolute nothing and it looked like he was unconscious.
Jason raised his arms and air seemed to fill under the pegasus's wings. It stopped its crazy decent and Jason helped it fall slowly down to the hill. As soon as its hooves touched the ground, the pegasus collapsed and lay on the ground panting.
Annabeth clambered off it and pulled Percy with her. Percy groaned and Annabeth looked terrified. "Thanks, Porkpie. Go graze or something. I'll bring a treat Peter at the stables." She said, her voice shaky.
"Annabeth? What's wrong? What happened?" I asked her, rushing over to help her carry Percy. I slung one of his arms over my shoulders and Annabeth had the other over here. She looked at me with watery grey eyes and it looked like she was aboutbto cry.
"He... A monster attacked him. When I got there, it was already gone but Percy as hurt. As I was helping him to the park, he passed out and I saw this... this hole had been torn in his arm by whatever attacked him. So I dragged him the rest of the way to Central Park and I fed him a few pinches of ambrosia. The bleeding stopped and the smaller cuts healed completely but the hole was still there. We need to get him to the infirmary." She said, staring at Percy as she talked. She wouldn't look at me.i narrowed my eyes; there was something she wasn't telling me. But I didn't push it. I felt like it had something to do with what I had heard then talking about in the hospital after someone tried to kill Percy by making him suffocate.
Hazel came running up the hill with Will behind her. Chiron came galloping past them with Frank trailing behind him a moment later. "What happened?" The old centaur asked when he reached us.
"Percy was running late so Annabeth went to go see what we holding him up. She came back on a crash-landing pegasus. I got Jason to help them notbcrash and sent hazel to find Will and Frank to go get you. She landed and I asked what happened. She said that Percy was attacked by a monster and she found him and he passed out on their way back and she fed him some ambrosia and they flew back here." I told him.
"Move! Lay him down, let me look at him!" Will came running up. Annabeth and I gently lay Percy down on the ground and Will knelt next to him. Annabeth say on the grass on Percy's other side and stared sadly at his face. I stood back up and watched as Will worked. After a few minutes, Will did that he had to take Percy to the infirmary. Chiron scooped up my unconscious friend and followed him there. Annabeth jumped up and ran after them. I followed slower, calling to hazel and Frank to get the rest of the Seven and see if they could find Nico.
Will, Chiron, Annabeth, Percy, and I disappeared into the infirmary. I can't wait to hear Percy's side of this story.
Hazel P.O.V.
I was scared as I ran through the camp looking for Jason, Piper, Leo, and Nico with Frank. First, we stopped at the forge, figuring that's were we'd find Leo. When he wasn't there, we moved on to the Zeus cabin to look for Piper and Jason. They weren't there either. So we ran to the sword arena. We found Piper and Jason there, sparing.
(A/N I know Jason was there earlier, but after they landed, he disappeared and him and Piper started sparing. Okay? Okay.)
"Jason! Piper! Do you guys know where Leo is?" I asked between gasps for breath. They stopped sparing and looked over at me.
"Yeah. He's out at Bunker Nine." Jason said.
"Great." I gasped. "You guys need to get to the infirmary. Percy's hurt and Thalia sent Frank and I to find you guys, Leo, and Nico of we could." They nodded and, sheathing their weapons, ran for the infirmary. "Frank, can you go get Leo? I need to..." I huffed and puffed, "Catch my breath." I wheezed and he nodded, running off to the woods.
After a minute, I straightened and looked over at the retreating backs of Jason and Piper. Sighing, I turned and faced the Hades cabin. I hope he's there. I though as I jogged over. "Nico?" I asked, knocking on the door.
"Come in..." A muffled voice came through the door. I opened it and walked over to my brother. Nico was, sitting on his bed, staring at the wall.
"Nico? What... What's wrong?" I asked, placing a hand on his shoulder. He turned to look at me and I gasped. His expression was broken and pained.
"Percy... Why wouldn't he tell me? Why... Why would he hide something like that from everyone?" His eyes were filled with years and he looked so sad.
"Nico..." I was shocked. What was he talking about? What could he have found out that was making him cry? "What happened? What did you find?" I asked him.
"I... I was there. I saw what that monster did to him. I saw what happened. How long? Why didn't he ever tell anyone? Annabeth... She knew. She knew! Why didn't she ever say anything?! I'm going to kill that... That beast!" Nico ranted. Suddenly, he burst into tears, heaving sobs shaking his body. I froze for a second. Nico as crying. How am I supposed to handle this? Nico never cries! He never showes any emotion, he's that rock that never moves, never changes. He almost never smiles, and now... What do I do with this?
"Sh... Shh... Shhh..." I wrapped my arms around him and gently pressed his head against my shoulder. "It'll be okay." I muttered comforting things in Nico's ear and held him as he cried.
We stayed that way for a while, until Nico got his composure back. He sniffles. "I'm good now." He muttered, pulling his face from my shoulder.
"Okay. Come on, let's get to the infirmary. Percy's there right now. Annabeth found him and said that he was attacked by a monster." Nico scrambled to his feet and ran out the door. I was startled but quickly jumped up and took off after him. When we reached the infirmary, Frank was already there with Leo. He saw Nico's red eyes and blotchy face and looked at me with a worried expression. I just shook my head. I'd tell him about Nico's confusing episode later. Right now, I was more concerned about Percy.
Annabeth's P.O.V.
I fell asleep in a chair next to Percy's bed as I waited for him to wake up. And I dreamed...
"Percy!" I yelled his name and ran forward as his body fell to the ground with a dull thud. "Percy!" I screamed and Gabe laughing, backing up with the bloody knife that he had stabbed into Percy's chest clutched tightly in his hand. "Percy!" I dropped to my knees next to him. His eyes were closed and blood was soaking his shirt, turning the orange fabric red.
Gabe laughed and then he disappeared. He as s just gone. I'll find him and kill him later. I promised myself. "Percy Jackson! You wake up!" I shouted. "Get up, Seaweed Brain!" As strangled sob escaped my lips. "Please," I cried. There was no response from the boy. Sobs escaped me and my vision clouded with tears. "You promised that we would stay together, Percy," I whispered into his shirt. I stared at his lifeless face. "You promised!" I screamed.
I woke up and screamed. Hazel yelled and jumped to her feet. Frank turned into a cat and gave a surprised "Mreow!" Jason sparked and Piper shrieked. Leo's hair caught fire and he jumped five feet into the air. Nico shot to his feet and whipped his head around. I sat in my chair and shook I'm controllay. I was covered in a cold sweat and my eyes were filled with tears.
"Annabeth?" Hazel stepped over to me and placed a hand on my shoulder. "What's wrong?" I just shook my head.
"N-Nightmare. N-Not a demigod dream. Just a regular nightmare." I muttered. I heard a groan and whipped my head around to look at Percy. He was asleep in the bed, but it looked like he was asking up. "Percy, come on, wake up baby. You're safe now." I said quietly. He turned his head toward the sound of my voice and blinked open his eyes.
"Annabeth?" He said, his eyes darting around, trying to find me in the darkness.
"I'm here, Percy." I grabbed dhis hand and pressed it to my cheek. Nico walked over and put a hand on Percy's leg.
"Percy... Why didn't you ever say anything? Why didn't you ever tell me?" His voice was low and hurt.
"Nico? What are you..." Percy trailed off. "Oh. You saw. You were there... Weren't you?" Percy's voice was quiet, ashamed, and a little bit scared. I was confused, but then my mind connected the dots. Nico had seen what Gabe did to Percy. He had seen it.
"Yeah. I saw it. Why, Percy? Please, you don't have to tell me what happened, or how long it's been happening, just, please, tell me why." Nico pleaded, his voice broken and his dark eyes watery and threatening to spill tears.
Percy looked down at his lap and roo la deep breath. "Nico, You don't understand. Ever since I can remember, he was always there. He was always hittong me or my mom. He... He said that if I ever told anyone, hebwould kill them. And if I ever ran away, he would kill my mom, find me, and either kill me or hurt me more. One time, when I was ten, I ran away and told the police. Gabe hid everything and pages off his friends in the police and he was cleared. He almost killed me afterword." Percy shuddered and squeezed his eyes shut. "My mom and I were too scared to run away and there was no one we could go to who would take care of him. Even if the police caught him, he would be out fast. He's pay bail or his lawyer would get all the charges dropped." A tear slid down my Seaweed Brain's face and I wrapped my arms around him comforting.
"Then I met all of you and I couldn't put you in danger by telling you and I didn't want you to look at me with pity or feel bad for me or to be a burden or to make you feel like I'm weak. I'm the savior of Olympus! I can't be weak. I can't let you guys down. And besides, it would just give Jason one more thing to hate about me." I listened to Percy as he explained to Nico. No one else could hear Percy's confession. No one else knew. Just Chiron, I, and now Nico knew Percy's secret.
Nico nodded. "Okay, Perce. Thank you for telling me. Now I know why you hid it. I'm sorry for not just trusting that you hid it for a reason. Percy nodded and looked up his lap. His face turned toward Nico's voice but his eyes angled just a little bit down and too the left of cousin's face. "Now, can I go kill him?" Percy cracked a smile and I laughed.
"No, Nico. You cannot go kill my stepdad. He's the only thing keeping me from foster care now that... Now that my mom is gone." Percy looked around suddenly. "Who's there? Hello?" He must have heard Leo shift in his seat.
"It's just us, Perce. We're all here." Leo said, hopping up and joining Nico by the end of the bed.
"Yeah, even Jason came, cuz." Thalia said jokingly, walking over and standing next to me.
"All of us, Percy. Are you okay? Annabeth said you were attacked by a monster and it ripped a big home in your arm." Piper came over to the bed and put her hand on Percy's shoulder. She stood o the side opposite me.
"Annie? I'm gonna tell them." He said to me. I was shocked.
"Are you sure, Percy?" I asked quietly.
"Tell us what, Percy?" Frank said, getting up and coming over.
"Does this have anything to do with why I found Nico crying in his cabin?" Hazel asked, following Frank. Jason came over silently and stood next to Piper, putting an arm around her waist. Which she immediately shoved off and turned to glare at him in disgust. I don't think he gets it. After jason showed his true colors of being jealous and just horrible to Percy, she dumped him and he never got the memo. Soon after they broke up, Piper and Leo became even closer and now, they're dating.
(A/N I don't ship Liper, I ship jasper and caleo, I just did this cause it works for the story... jsyk.)
Percy nodded. "My stepdad, Gabe, he... He um..." He reached up and rubbed the back of his neck a she trailed off, nervous. "He... He abused my mom and I-" Percy was cut off by the sudden outraged cries of out friends. He froze, his eyes wide in shock and his mouth hanging open.
"I'm gonna kill him! I'm gonna kill the rain of a bitch!" Thalia screeched.
"Let me go over to his apartment and burn him!" Leo yelled. He was so mad, that one of his ears caught on fire.
"I'm going to bury him! Let me give him one of my cursed jewls and... Oh!" Hazel was so mad, she couldn't even talk in full sentences, she didn't seem to be able to get a full thought formed and out of her mouth.
Piper shrieked and slammed her hand into the bed post. "I'm going to walk right up to that dumbass and tell him to kill himself for everything he's done to you, Percy! That, or I'm going to kill him myself."
"I'm going to beat this mortal until he's black and blue! Then I'm going to walk him down to the Underworld myself and hand him straight to Hades!" This was coming from Frank. Who isn't an extremely violent person, every really. He was practically frothing at the mouth. And given his ability to turn into animals, he might actually start doing that.
"I'm going to walk right up to that monster, and I'm going to rip his soal right from his body and drag it down to Tartarus!" Nico yelled, outraged.
"Suck it up, Percy. I-" Jason started but was cut off.
"Shut the Hades up, Jason!" Piper whirled on her ex-boyfriend, her eyes glinting with rage. Her voice was laced with so much charmspeak, that everyone shut their mouths. And then she exploded. "Percy has been through more than you'll ever understand. Percy is nicer than you, Percy is smarter than you, Percy is better that you will ever be. He had been through so much, and done so much, and he doesn't deserve any of it. Percy is wonderful and kind and selfless. And yet after everything the gods have put him through, he didn't change into a mean, heartless, cold, selfish, rude, jealous, selfabsorbed asshole. I can't believe that I ever loved you. I can't believe that I ever thought that you were better than him. So I don't want to hear another word out of your mouth about how Percy is horrible. About how he doesn't deserve anything he has. Isn't worth anything. Because he is worth everything. A million times what you are worth. He deserves everything he has and so much more." Jason stared at her with an open mouth and wide eyes. Everyone else looked at her in shock, awe, or admiration. Percy was staring blindly on her general direction.
I glanced at my boyfriend. Percy looked so confused, so bewildered that his friends would react like that. He seemed especially befuddled by Piper's explosion. My heart broke. "Percy... Percy, you didn't really believe anything that Gabe told you, right?" I said, near tears. He turned his face to my voice but then hung his head in shame, and nodded.
"He said I was stupid. He said I didn't deserve friends, that no one could ever love me. He said I was a waste of space, that I was pathetic and useless and worthless and powerless, and a delinquent punk who deserves to die. He said I was about as smart as a rock and about as meaningful and needed as a piece of shit. I believed him. I grew up believing that. I was bullied at school and called a freak there and at home. I moved from school to school every grade. I though that it was because I was a freak. Everything seemed to go wrong when I was around. I hated myself. I hated Gabe. And I hated my life." He gave a small humorless laugh. "I was five and depressed. I was seven when I tried to commit suicide the first time." Percy spat out, and was again cut off by our friends disbelieving cries.
"Percy! You never told me about that!" I cried, tears spilling down my face. His hand still on my cheek, a few of them dropped onto it.
"I didn't want to, Wise Girl. I... I didn't want to scare you or make you think less mod me." Percy said slowly. "Besides, that's all behind me. I haven't cut in a few years." I blanched.
"You cut?" I asked quietly. Percy Reyes widened and he muttered something under his breath that sounded like -shit'. "Let me see." I said gently. Obediently, Percy held out his arms and turned them over so I could see the undersides of his wrists. He held his hands palms up and concentrated for a moment. Then the scars appeared. They were all over his arms. Running up and down the length of them. Some were still and anger red. "I thought you never learned how to use the Mist." I said, gently tracing some of the scars crisscrossing his arms. "And how long is a few years? What did you mean the first time when you said you retried to commit suicide?"
"A few years means about two. I haven't cut since the battle of the labyrinth. When I was seven was the first time. I thought about it again when I was eight. Considered it when I was nine. Tried again when I was ten, and again when I was eleven. Then I was twelve and my life got a little busy and a little chaotic and a little to important for me to try again. Then I started dating you, and I didn't think about it as much. Then Hera wiped my memory and I got caught up on another war. Then the accident happened, now this." He gestured to himself in the bed.
"As for the Mist, I learned as soon as I came to camp. Chiron taught me secretly. I got the hang of it, I was a master with it really, but I hid it. I didn't want anyone to know. Especially since I use it to hide most of my scars from Gabe and these. Sometimes, the Mist cover breaks and a scar can be seen, and in that case if anyone sees it I just tell them I got it fighting a monster. But most of the time, it's under lock and key." He said
"Show me." I scared. My voice was quiet and probably said as much. Percy concentrated for a moment. Then he nodded.
"Help me take off my shirt." I reached out and helped him pull it off. I dropped it on the floor and gasped. I threw my hand up to cover my mouth and the other to place over my heart. "Help me stand up." I reached out a hand and and helped him sit up. He swung he feet over the edge of the bed. When turned to get up, Jason whistled, Piper screeched in outrage, Hazel gasped and flung a hand over her mouth, burying her face in Frank's chest who just stood there and gaped. Leo growled and his hair, one of his ears, and his nose caught fire. He quickly swatted out the flames.
I gulped. Percy turned around. Tears flooded my vision and I started to sob.
Thalia gripped my shoulders and her hands clenched so hard, I though she was going to pull my arms off. I turned and saw her face, it was red with anger and her jaw was clenched. She looked like she was going to murder Gabe right then and there. Call on her lower over lightning and electrocute him.
"Annabeth?" Percy said, turning around again and reaching out for me. I threw myself into his waiting farms and sobbed into his chest, my hand curled into tight fists. (A/N Originally, when I wrote this part, I said 'I threw myself into his waiting arms and sobbed into his shirt, the fabric gripped tightly in my fists.' And then I thought about it a moment and said, 'wait a moment. He's not wearing a shirt... better fix that!' Sorry, that was random. Carry on with the story.) Percy wrapped his arms around me and held me close, resting his head on top of mine. He let me cry onto his bare chest until I could get a grip on myself.
"I'm sorry." He muttered into my ear a so finally pulled away. I looked at him incredulously.
"What are you sorry for?" I asked in disbelief.
"If I had been able to stand up to Gabe, if I had done something about it, then he wouldn't have given me all these scars and I wouldn't be hurting you like this. My mom would still be here. I'm the hero of Olympus twice over! I've fought countless monsters, Titans, and Giants. I trekked through Tartarus with you by my side. And yet I'm still scared of him." He hung his head and drew away. "It's my fault."
(A/N I'm listening to 'Believer' by Imagine Dragons right now. That was random. Carry on.)
"Percy! None of this is your fault! There is nothing you could have done. No one blames you. You're too hard on yourself, Percy. You always blame yourself for everything, even if it's something that you have no control over. You were young and scared and it's okay if you still are. This man hurts you, mentally and physically. He is a monster and he doesn't deserve to have you. Please, just hide for..." I trailed off. Wow. We were seventeen now. It's been six years that we've known each other. Since we were twelve. It's been about five monts since the accident, and since his birthday. Just a few more months and he's eighteen. "For a few months. Just until your eighteen. Then he doesn't own you anymore. Then you'll be free. Please?" I begged him, but he shook his head.
"I can't. I have to stay. If I dont, the. He'll find me and hurt me more. He'll find you and hurt you as well." Percy said quietly. He sounded scared, and I don't blame him. With all those scars and what he has told me, not to mention what he obviously hadn't told me, he has every reason to be scared of Gabe.
"Then let us kill him. You can stay here at Camp or at Camp Jupiter and you never have to see him again." I said. I didn't want him going back to the monster of a man.
"Yeah, Perce! Let us go kill that son of a bitch. Please?" Leo begged.
"Kill Gabe!" Piper said.
"Kill Gabe!" Nico repeated the line.
"Kill Gabe! Kill Gabe! Kill Gabe!" Thalia, Leo, Piper, Nico, even Frank and Hazel took up that chant. Percy was still shaking his head.
"You can't kill him. It's wrong." He held up his hand to stop the protests that were about to fly out of everyone's mouths. "Even if he is evil, it's murder and it's wrong. You can't go and end his life."
"What if I make him disappear from the face of the earth, no one knowing what happened to him, for what he did to my son?" A booming voice came from the doorway. Everyone swiveled and stared as Poseidon walked into the room.
"Dad?" Percy asked. I turned to look at him. He sounded horrified. His face wasn't much better. His eyes were wide with fear and he had turned pale. He looked terrified. "You-You heard?"
The Lord of the Sea nodded. "And I can see all those scars he gave you." Percy muttered a curse and imediatlt his body seemed to swirl and shift
I blinked and he looked normal. His skin unblemished and perfectly smooth; not a scar in sight. I stared. Percy wasn't kidding when he said that he had mastered control over the Mist. He was so good, that it seemed second nature to him. I mean, he had to concentrate, to think about it for a moment to make the Mist disappear so we could see the scars I , the first place.
"Dad, no. Please, I know he hurt me, I don't like him, and I never want to be anywhere near him again. But it's wrong to kill him or kidnap him or anything else you guys could come up with to do to him. He is a rotten man, but everyone deserves a second chance. He could still be good in there somewhere." Percy said. I was amazed at Percy's good heart. He chose to see only the good in most people. Even if there wasn't any good to see, even if there wasn't any there at all, he always tried.
"I have got it!" Poseidon said, raising his fist I to the air with a triumphant smile on his face. "I am Percy's biological father. I am going to sue Gabe for custody rights!" We all scared at him.
"But, Lord Poseidon, the... The Ancient Laws..." I stuttered.
"Screw the Ancient Laws. Percy is my son and I am not leaving him with that monster of a man." Poseidon turned and marched out of the room, leaving no room for discussion. I turned to my stunned boyfriend.
"Looks like you're going to have an exciting few weeks ahead of you. Don't worry. I'll be there with you every step of the way." I said, resting my head of Percy's shoulder. "Poseidon will win and you will never have to live with Gabe again."
Poseidon's P.O.V.
I walked out of the infirmary and, making sure no one was around to see me, showed my truebform and teleported to my underwater palace. I paced the floor in my throne room and then I couldn't take it anymore. I released a road of anger. The whole palace shuddered and shook with my power. My wife Amphitrite (A/N That is her name, right?) stumbled into the room, clutching the walls to try and keep her balance.
"Poseidon, dear! What is wrong? What did the meaning if this? Groton and I were the middle of a game of chess then the whole palace started shaking and all our pieces were thrown off the table." She huffed and I stopped the earthquake that was shaking our home.
"I am sorry my dear. I am simply angered. I have just found out that my mortal son Percy is being abused by his stepfather. He cannot leave and he is not supposed to tell anyone. He got up the courage to tell his friends and I overheard. I will not let my son live with that pig. So SCREW the Ancient Laws, I am suing Gabe for custody rights over Percy." I stopped pacing and told my wife everything I had overheard and seen.
Amphitrite scowled. "I may not like Perseus because you cheated on me with a mortal and he is the product of that, but if I ignore this fact, I love Perseus. He is a wonderful young man an she does not deserve the life he has been given. It should be better. I will go with you to mortal court to fight against this Gabe and testify for you." She walked over and hugged me. "I know how much he means to you and I love him as if he were my own son myself. If I think about it, I should not be mad at Perseus because he is your offspring with another woman, I should be mad at you. However, I am not. I have moved on. Because had you not cheated on me with his mother, he would not be here and our lives would be much worse, if we still had them. We will win this trial and Perseus will never have to live with that abusing son of a bitch ever again."
I looked down at her and hugged her back. "Sometimes I forget just how much I love you, dear."
