Marinette's POV

"Are you alright?" Adrien said to me.

"Yeah." I said as I smiled, "I'm alright."

When I said that, I saw the butterfly fly away. What was even that?

"We should be heading to lunch now. Do you want to come sit with me and my friends?" Adrien said to me. 

"Sure!" I said as I followed him to the cafeteria. There were a lot of people sitting in the cafeteria. I saw a lot of people looking at Adrien and smiling and not even noticing me. 

Chole was right! I am a nobody to anyone. Adrien seems popular while I seem like some random person stalking him. I stood in the line next to Adrien. I looked at everyone and started to get more embarrassed. After, we got our trays and went to a table. At the table we were sitting at there were two people there, someone with brown hair with a fade of orange and someone else with brown hair and a red hat. 

"Hey, Nino and Alya!" Adrien said, "This is my friend, Marinette."

"Hi!" Alya said to me. 

"Hi." I said back to her as I waved. 

As I said that, I saw Chole in the distance as she walked over to us. "Adrikins!" Chole gushed, "Why don't you come sit with me and Sabrina at lunch and dump these losers?"

I felt embarrassed as Chole said that; I looked down too while she walked over to us. Although, I saw Alya looking at Chole with furious eyes. 

"I don't know who you are calling dump, the best thing for you to do right now is to walk away before that make up walks away from you. I'm pretty sure Adrien would see you as a nobody if that ever happened." Alya snickered. 

"See me as a nobody?" Chole began, "I was friends with my Adrikins for a long time now, he'll never ditch me nor see me as a nobody for your information."

Adrien looked down as he was rubbing his hand, I turned my attention away from him. 

"Well, Adrien sees us as someone so the best thing for you to do is stop being so childish and walk away." Alya stated.

"Whatever." Chole said as she rolled her eyes then smiled as she turned her attention towards Adrien, "See you later, Adrikins!" Later, she walked away. 

Nino looked at Adrien, but Adrien turned away quickly. I finally knew I couldn't just keep quiet.

"Adrien, what kind of friend is this?" I said, curiously. 

"I know she might not be picture perfect, but she was my first friend I ever had since kindergarten- my parents, well parent now are also friends with her parents too." Adrien said back to me.

"Oh," I said back to him, but one thing caught my attention, when he said, "parent now". I looked down then looked back up at him, "May I ask what happen to your other parent?"

I saw Adrien look quite sad when I said that "Well, my mom went in a coma last year. She died." Adrien stated as he looked down, "But it's alright. I have friends to support me, so I guess it's okay. Although I'll never forget her."

Then that just reminded me of Mom. "Oh, well, I'm sorry to hear." I said to Adrien as I constantly kept blinking, trying not to cry. 

Adrien raised an eyebrow, "You alright, Marinette?"

"Oh, yeah. I'm fine. I just need to go to the bathroom." I said as I went running out of the cafeteria in tears. 

"Marinette, wait!" I heard Adrien yell from behind me, but that didn't stop me from continuing to run. 

Afterwards, Adrien caught up to me. "Are you sure you're alright? You're crying, and I know there's something happening."

"Nothing is happening; I'm fine!" I blurted at Adrien.

"Don't lie to me, I know there's something going on. Is it about Chole?"

"Yeah, it is about Chole." I lied.

I didn't want him to know about Mom, I didn't want anyone else to know about her!

Adrien sighed, "I know she can be- well, you know, Chole sometimes, but I'll have a talk to her about this. She mainly listens to me more than she listens to anyone else."

I smiled at Adrien as I wiped my tears, "Thank you, Adrien." 

"No problem. I'll be in the cafeteria if you need me." Adrien said as he walked out of the locker room.

My smile remained as he walked out of the locker room. Afterwards, I walked over to the bathroom and Tikki flew out of my purse.

"Looks like you found friends and a boyfriend on the first day of school!" Tikki said to me.

"WHAT?!" I yelled embarrassingly at Tikki, "ADRIEN AND I ARE NOT DATING!"

"Who said I was talking about Adrien." Tikki said with a smirk, "Come on, you don't have to lie that you don't like him!"

"I like him... as a friend and only that!" 

"Yeah right. That's what all the couples that have been married for 40 years said." Tikki said as she laughed.

I blushed, but I ended up finding myself laughing too. 

After that the bell rang and it was time for my next class. I looked at my schedule, my next class was science. I started walking to room 1.358 as I saw other students walking to their class. 

I looked around the classroom and saw Nino, Alya, and Adrien there. I saw an empty seat next to Alya, so I decided to sit there as I smiled. 

"Are you alright?" Alya asked me.

"Yeah, I'm fine!" I said back with a smile.

Alya smiled to me as I heard people in the back of the classroom screaming. "Look!" I heard someone yelled as they pointed. I looked at the direction that they were pointing in and saw someone in the classroom with rocks all over them. "Oh, uhm, I have to go!" I heard Adrien say as he ran out of the classroom. Where is he going?! He can't just walk out the classroom saying he has to go, that's an invalid excuse! 

I felt something moving inside of my purse, and I knew who it was. I opened my purse and saw Tikki looking at me with fright as she mouthed to me, "Go to the bathroom." I quickly closed my purse and got up out of my seat. "I forgot something in my locker!" I said to Alya and Nino as I rushed out of the classroom. After, I made it to a bathroom stall as I opened my purse.

"What is it now, Tikki?" I whispered?

"Looks like Hawk Moth already started!" Tikki said to me, "Transform and show him what you got!"

I could feel my face turn hot as Tikki said that. It was as if I was going to faint.

"Calm down, Marinette! I know how scary this can be but remember who you are doing this for." Tikki reassured me.

"I can't do it! Choose someone else, please." I said back to Tikki.

"You were the chosen one, now show that akumatized what you got."

I inhaled as Tikki said that "Tikki, spots on!"
