The Start
Yuuto's POV
Hello. My name is Yuuto. I'm 14 years old, I live with my little sister Haruna who's 6 and my mother who's an abusive drunk. My dad was killed in a car accident, and ever since his death I've been getting beatings from my mom. She says it was my fault he died, but I was only young and Haruna was still a baby. She wouldn't understand if I told her the truth. Well, on with the story.
End of POV
Yuuto opened his eyes slowly. He looked at the clock beside his bed which read 6.10am. The young boy sighed and got out of bed slowly. He grabbed his school uniform and his school bag, he looked at his mother past out on her bed.
"I'll get Haruna ready." he sighed. Yuuto went into his sister's room,. He smiled and looked at the little girl fast asleep in her bed. "Morning, Haruna." he whispered kindly. Haruna opened her eyes and saw her older brother.
"Yuuto..." the little girl gave a small smile.
Yuuto smiled. "Time to get up, sweetie." Haruna smiled at Yuuto
"What's for breakfast?" she asked.
Yuuto looked down. "I don't know, but lets go and check." he gave a weak smile hiding the fact there was no food in the house.
Yuuto got Haruna dressed and took her downstairs to get breakfast. "I'm hungry, big brother" Haruna looked at Yuuto.
Yuuto looked in the fridge and the cupboards. "Sorry, Haruna, looks like I'm gonna have to take you to get something to eat on the way to school."
Haruna looked at Yuuto. "What about Mommy?" she smiled.
Yuuto bit his lip. "I'm sure she will buy some food later on."
Haruna took Yuuto's hand and they left the house together. Yuuto smiled as he looked at his happy little sister.
"Big brother, say hello to your friends for me!" she smiled Yuuto gave a chuckle.
"I will." he smiled.
Yuuto took Haruna into a shop to get her some food with the lunch money he had. "Eat up, Haruna."
Haruna smiled at the small food Yuuto gave her. "Eat it all, okay?" he instructed her.
Haruna looked at Yuuto. "Big brother not eating?"
Yuuto smiled. "You need it more than I do."
Haruna smiled and gave a bit to Yuuto. Yuuto took the bit of food from his sister.
Yuuto carried on walking to school with Haruna. "Here we are!" he smiled and gave her a kiss on her forehead.
Haruna hugged Yuuto and took her school bag. "Bye, big brother!" she smiled.
Yuuto watched her run to her friends, then slowly walked to his locker. "I have to get her away from mom." he sighed. Yuuto held his head down, but, suddenly, he bumped into his friend, Sakuma Jirou.
"Hey, Yuuto!" he smiled. Yuuto smiled at his cyan-haired friend. "Hello, Jirou. Nice day today! And how's your mom doing?"
Jirou smiled. "She's doing okay, I hope. And are you coming to practice today?"
Yuuto shook his head. "I'm sorry, Jirou, not today." Jirou looked "But Yuuto, you've missed practice a lot."
Yuuto sighed. "My mom works a lot now and no one is there for Haruna." he lied.
Jirou sighed "But you will come back, right?" he questioned.
Yuuto looked down. "Yeah... maybe." he sighed as he walked on ahead.
Jirou looked at his friend. "You're becoming more depressed every day."
The bell rang as Yuuto got to his locker.
"Looks like you've been dragged through a hedge backwards." Akio joked.
Yuuto looked at Akio. "You're no better yourself."
Akio looked at Yuuto. "Why the long face, Yuuto?"
Yuuto looked at him. "I'M TIRED, OKAY?" he snapped. Akio stepped back and went into his class.
"Sometimes I wish I had died with my dad." Yuuto sighed.
Yuuto went into his class and sat down. He heard the other students talking about him, but he just sighed and let the students talk about him.
Jirou came in the classroom afterwards. "Hey, Yuuto, want to have lunch with me later?"
Yuuto gave a weak smile. "Sure, that will be great."
The teacher came in and looked at her students. "Good morning class. Today we are learning about the death penalty in Japan." the teacher spoke.
Yuuto blinked. "The death penalty?"
Before the teacher could speak, a man in a white suit and blond hair came in the room. "I would like to speak to Sakuma Jirou if possible." the man spoke.
"Coach Kageyama..." whispered Yuuto.
The teacher nodded and dismissed Jirou. Kageyama lead Jirou to his office.
"Jirou i have some rather bad news for you" he told the young cyan-haired boy.
"What is it? Is my mom okay? Did something happen?" he asked.
Kageyama looked at him. "Your mother sadly passed away."
Jirou felt his heart shatter. "No... no, she can't have died!" he cried.
Kageyama looked down. "I'm sorry for you loss, Jirou. You're more than welcome to take the day off."
Jirou looked. "I'll stay. I'm gonna try and be strong for my mom."
20 minutes later
"Jirou, are you okay?" Yuuto asked.
Jirou looked down. "My mom passed away, but Yuuto... will you promise me something?"
Yuuto looked. "Yes, of course."
Jirou let a few tears out. "Will you come to my mom's funeral?"
Yuuto nodded. "Course I will come, Jirou, and I'm sure Akio and Koujirou will, too."
Jirou gave a weak smile. "Thank you."
Later on that day, Yuuto walked home with Haruna.
"Big brother, who's house is that with the walls and gate?" Haruna asked.
Yuuto looked. "I don't know, Haruna, but I think a rich couple live there." he told her.
Haruna smiled "Wow, do you think they have ponies?!"
Yuuto smiled "Maybe"
When they both reached home, Yuuto opened the door and saw their mother on the stairs. "Haruna, sweetie, go play in the garden, I need to speak to Yuuto."
Haruna smiled. "Okay mommy!" she smiled and went in the garden.
Yuuto gulped. He knew what was coming. "Mom... what ever I did, I'm sorry." He saw the rage in his mother. "Mom, I'm sorry!" he cried but his tears did not stop her from hitting him.
Yuuto fell to the ground with a red cheek. "Well, well, well, what's my stupid son going to do? Is he going to cry?!"
Yuuto held in tears. "Mom, I'm sorry! I don't know what I did wrong!"
The mother kicked Yuuto to the ground. "Why are you still alive, son?" she spat at him.
