Chapter Three - Kida
"Kida, come down stairs and set up dinner!" yelled my auntie. When my auntie yells and it's especially about dinner not only can you avoid her loud hoarse voice but you have to run down the stairs as fast as you can with all your limbs still in one piece and set up the long table. My chore is to set up the table, my two older brothers cook - believe it or not. Uncle works as a technician somewhere far away from home, he normally get's home late.
So now you get a glimpse picture of how I set up the table and still have all my limbs together in one crazy house with two annoying cooks of brothers. Without hesitation I run as fast as I can, my legs are small and there certainly not running legs. My friends Chriśtîna Eyan, Dána Wraken and Abÿijâll (spelt Abigail) Jénson have more of the "running" legs, they are all taller and leaner than I am. But of course that never stops me. I run down the spiral stairs and when on flat ground I wrap my long hair into a bun, walking slowly to get my breath back. I walk down the long hallway, turn left and see my auntie, auntie Ritá Lorien. Besides auntie's loud hoarse voice she is actually really pretty, and especially for her age. Auntie Ritá is fifty one years old. Personally I don't think fifty one is old at all even though I keep commenting that she is, but fifty one is not considered old in the galaxy we live in. Auntie Ritá has medium, curly, Raven hair with midnight black and blue eyes, she is not what you call 'tall' but she is taller than me, of course. Her skin is pale, she hates the outside which is strange since we live here in Naboo, a beautiful, peaceful place to live.
"Where do I start, auntie Ritá?" I smiled, still trying to catch my breath back. I'm also very unfit if you didn't notice.
"Does it matter? As long as we get food and I'm hoping Tudá and Quit don't disappoint me again like last time. Things shall be all good, I hope". Auntie Ritá replied looking at the plates and sharp thin glasses crossing her arms and biting her lower lip.
Auntie Ritá is always right, doesn't matter where I start? Stupid enough to even ask. Food is Ritá's one priority, she is obsessed if you ask but is too lazy to cook. Still don't know why and how Tudá and Quit got to be the chefs of the house. Tudá is a complete doofus and Quit is the prankster type which drives Tudá insane. There the ones who should run down the stairs everyday, huffing and puffing, to prepare the table for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have five reasons why Tudá and Quit should be the ones to prepare the table instead of me. One, Tudá is a complete doofus around sharp objects, which almost gave auntie Ritá a heart attack the last time he prepared for dinner, two, Quit is never serious about anything, drives Tudá insane all the time which leads to major earthquakes. Three, Tudá and Quit are both faster and fitter than me, it wouldn't be insane for them to run down the stairs all the time instead of me. Four, Tudá and Quit can't cook very well, Tudá's cooking is alright but Quit's is a concern and lastly. Five, Tudá and Quit are dangerous and very stupid in the kitchen.
Still battling a war inside my head about my idiotic brothers I get back to planet Naboo. I still don't know what auntie Ritá wants me to do.
"Do you want me to check on Tudá and Quit?" I echoed, placing the grapes and all sorts of food in the middle neater.
"Sure. Be careful though". Auntie Ritá whispers as she looks up, her eyes lining up with mine. I never took notice, that auntie Ritá's eyes are small black and blue beads compared to mine, mine are the complete opposite. Big and to me, like they are holding back oceans, like a tear could rip from eyes any moment. Godah' I'm such a baby. I smile and reply back
"That is my life motto around Tudá and Quit" I say, turning around but just enough time to see auntie Rita's still smile.
I exist the room with the long wooden table, turn right and push the door and tip-toe into the kitchen, I'm now upon my two idiotic brothers. Tudá is twenty-one, he is much taller compared to Quit. Tudá has short black/brown hair, dark blue eyes like auntie Rita's, and bold shoulders. Quit is sixteen, he is smaller but not smaller enough compared to me, Quit has blondish curly hair, and bold golden brown eyes. There like mine but my eyes are a bit darker. Quit looks like a little boy compared to Tudá. But I have to give Quit a break, he is still growing. When I'm about to speak, I but in to Tudá and Quit's conversation.
"That's sick Quit! Godah' just do your job for once" Tudá's voice tensed. Already annoyed with his younger brother
"Calm yourself. Geez, just having some fun. You really need to get loose oldah' brotha'" Quilt laughs, sucking on a orange and holding a random potato in the other hand
"I'm never loose because you never leave me alone. And stop eating! Bloody annoying brother named Quit" Tudá replied, grabbing the sucked orange and uneaten potato from Quit's hands and placing it on the other side of the metal table.
"Someone's not happy. Cheer up!" Quit smiles, holding a cup, observing it. I also forgot to mention that Tudá does most of the work and Quit just does random things.....All the time actually.
"Auntie Ritá told me to check up on you guys. How's the roasted beef going?" I finally speak, hoping to change the mood between Tudá and Quit.
"It's going perfectly well, sista' how's the table goin'?" Quit says, smiling while drinking whatever is in that cup.
"It's going o-" before I can finish my sentence
Quilt spits the liquid out of his mouth rapidly, holding his left hand to his mouth, disgusted as the liquid leaves his tongue. As I wipe Quit's spit from my face with a spare cloth, I look up and Tudá who is soaking wet, eyes closed and his mouth straight and annoyed. I can't help it but to laugh, Quit joins in. Tudá looks like he just went into the shower, well the top half of him.
"You. Are. Disgusting Quit" speaks Tudá, his voice straight forward and his eyes still closed.
I grab a spare kitchen cloth and throw it at Tudá, catching the fabric without looking. Tudá wipes his face and holds his hands to his face, his hands are in fists.
"What on planet Naboo did you drink, Quit"? I question, hoping Tudá doesn't kill Quit
Quit lifts his shoulders in question. Quit often drinks and eats things he doesn't know of but not often enough to give Tudá a shower.
"I don't know, I thought it was orange juice" Quit answers with high up shoulders
"You drunk the left over lemon juice moron" Tudá cuts in
"FOR HEAVENS SAKE WHAT IS TAKING FOREVER" Auntie Ritá buts in, yelling in her hungry voice
Auntie Ritá looks questionable, looking to me, smelling like left over lemon juice on my face. Quit untouched and unharmed by the left over lemon juice and Tudá, soaked in the left over lemon juice.
"It was Quit's fault. He drank the left over lemon juice" Tudá says pointing at Quit
"Why was there left over lemon juice, Tudá?" I but in, questioning and wondering why there is left overs?
Let's see, there's me, Kida, my two brothers, Tudá and Quit, Auntie Ritá and uncle Poé. There is five of us in this house so there shouldn't be left overs.
"I was going to pour the rest on the dish. I don't see why Quit has to be in the kitchen, auntie Ritá?" say Tudá
"Well, for starters Quit will break everything fragile in the dinner room. It's dangerous enough as it is. Secondly, you complain too much Tudá, your twenty bloody one. You should be able to deal with your little brother. And lastly, hurry up I'm starving" auntie Ritá echoes
"I didn't mean to do it. This time it was by accident" Quit whispers looking at the floor covered in scraps of all sorts of foods, carrot to eag-plant to others for what I can't name.
"Quit, please. Godah' ever since the queen died, all services, are maids, left us to grieve. Leaving their work. IT'S RIDICULOUS! What I least need is you two to fight!" Auntie Ritá cries, annoyed.
I stand in shock, it was the very first time auntie Ritá spoke of Padmé. My heart freezes, my head pounds. I'm out of touch in the adventures of the messy kitchen with Tudá and Quit, out of touch in the adventures of auntie Ritá's hoarse voice. I'm out of touch from the Naboo, the Galaxy, the world.
I start to lose my balance, my eyes tear up, my feet shake and I tremble down, down, down to the cold floor and I fall into deep sleep. The last thing I remember is my head slamming the floor seeing a black picture of
Nothing.
