Chapter 1: Diagon Alley
Disclaimer: I don't own anything other than Jessica Potter. I'm pretty sure J.K Rowling isn't 14.
Third Person POV:
It was a bright and sunny day on the morning of March 27th, 1971. The four occupants of Potter Manor were fast asleep. At least, that is until the eleven-year-old birthday boy hopped up out of bed and ran across the hall to his twin sister's room. He cracked open the door and tiptoed inside a bedroom. His eyes immediately landed on the petite, chocolate-haired girl in the middle of her bed, sleeping. He smirked, and lifted the bucket of water he had carried in. Slowly, carefully, he padded over to the side of his sister, and launched a deluge of water right on top of her!
She jolted awake screaming. "James Fleamont Potter!! Why must you do this EVERY year on our birthday?! Get out of my room before I murder you!" The girl's hair turns bright red. He sprinted out of the room and the girl stretched in her soaked bed. This girl is Jessica Alissa Potter, and she is eleven years old. Her twin brother, James, is sadly older by three minutes, a fact he lords over her every day without fail. She smiles, realizing it was the day when she would get her Hogwarts letter!! Her hair has started to turn yellow.
She sprinted over to her closet and flung the door open.
Jessica started to sort through her abundance of clothes, wondering what to wear for her birthday. She decided on one outfit: a red dress going down to her knees, with normal straps. It was casual, yet elegant. And Gryffindor colors. Nearly jumping up and down with excitement, she braided her hair into a side fishtail braid.
She sprints into the hallway and slides down the banister. She walks into the kitchen and sees her mother cooking Belgian waffles with powdered sugar and syrup for breakfast. She noticed her brother shoveling food into his wide-open mouth as fast as he could and shudders. She hears a hoot, and immediately her eyes are drawn over to the beautiful barn owl holding letters in its beak. She squeals and runs over to the owl and takes the two letters from it. Her hair is a full yellow at this point. She tosses James's letter at him, and excitedly examines the envelope. It has the Hogwarts crest on the back, and written on the front, in red script, is her address.

She ripped open the letter hurriedly, and held it up to show her parents. The letter said:
Dear Ms. Potter,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Students shall be required to report to the Chamber of Reception
upon arrival, the dates for which shall be duly advised.
Please ensure that the utmost attention be made to the list of
requirements attached herewith.
We very much look forward to receiving you as part of the new
generation of Hogwarts' heritage.

She screamed, "I'M GOING TO HOGWARTS!!!!"
Her mother commented, "Jess, James; would you like to go to Diagon Alley to get your supplies today or tomorrow?" The twins glanced at each other, at their mom, and then back at each other. They decided today in unison.
Jessica's POV:
I can't believe I'm going to Hogwarts! I wonder what house I'll be in-hopefully Gryffindor-and if I'll make any friends! I hope I do. I quickly finish my breakfast and run to put on my red flats.
My mother and father smile at our rushing as we get ready to go. I grab onto my mom's arm and my brother grabs onto my dad's arm, and then they apparate us to Diagon Alley. I spin around while walking backwards, and bump into a redheaded girl with emerald eyes that is also staring in wonder. She falls down, and I gasp. My hair is now purple at the tips and growing purpler by the second.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I didn't know you were there and I didn't mean to bump into you-" her hand clamps over my mouth.
"In three seconds, I will let go of your mouth and you will not apologize again. One two three." As promised, her hand is removed from my mouth. "My name is Lily Evans. What's your name?"
"I'm Jessica Potter. Are you a first year?"
"What?"
"Oh, you're a muggleborn!"
"What's a muggleborn? What's a first year? What's literally everything here?!?" She rattles off these questions so fast that my head is spinning to try and keep up with her.
"A muggleborn is someone born to non magical parents. A first year is a witch or wizard that is going into their first year at Hogwarts, so they are eleven years old. For your third question, do you want to shop together?"
"Sure!"
"Where do you want to start?" I ask. "We can start with books, quills and parchment, our wands, or a pet!"
Lily thinks for a long while. "Can we start with books? I already got my money."
I facepalm. "Oh, I'm an idiot! I forgot to get my money from Gringotts!" I stand on my tiptoes trying to see James, Mom, or Dad in the swarm of people. Unfortunately, with my five foot three stature, I can't see anybody! (A/N: I don't know if this is tall or not. This is around my height, and I don't feel short or tall; I'm average. :/)
Finally James appears behind me. "JJ! We need to go to Gringotts. Mom's been freaking out because you got lost. What, who're you?" Finally he recognizes I'm not alone.
"Hi, I'm Lily Evans. Who are you?"
"I'm James Potter. Do you believe in love at first sight? Or should I walk past you again?" My hair is slowly starting to turn orange, starting at the tips. Oh, I forgot to tell you I'm a Metamorphagus. Jesus. What is wrong with my twin.
"I think that Potter is a better name for you. And no, you'll be walking past me for infinity."
James sighs. "Well, maybe next time."
Lily blanches. "Next time? Oh Lord."
--------------Page Break--------------
After I got my money, I skipped out of Gringotts and looked around for Lily. She appeared right next to me, and scared the crap out of me.
"Are we getting our books now?" she asks. Already, she seems like one of those bookworms that are very nice and sweet.
"Yeah, let's go." We go to Flourish and Blotts, one of the best bookstores ever! We find all of our school books, and even some others that we thought were interesting.
"Should we get our quills and parchment next?" I ask. I feel like Lily is going to be my best friend.
"Sure, which store should we go to?" I grab her by the hand and drag her over to Scrivenshift's, the quill shop. I examine all of the choices, and finally decide on these quills.
They are many different colors, which I like. It represents my Metamorphmagus abilities.
"What next? We can get a pet or we can get our wands. What do you want to do?" I question.
"Let's get our wands. I wonder what mine's going to look like." I nod. I wonder what mines going to look like as well.
I examine all of the shops, finally finding Ollivander's. He has been making wands since 4 B.C.E! That guy must be old. We walk in together.
"Ahh, new first years. What are your names?"
Lily stutters out an answer. "I-I'm Lily. Lily Evans."
"I'm Jessica Potter," I comment.
"Who wants to go first?" Lily pushes me forward, and I glare at her over my shoulder. I am measured in many places, even though I don't get what the distance between my nostrils has to do with my wand.
He hands me a wand and, before I even wave it, he snatches it back quickly. "Not that one, try this one."
This happens for about twenty wands (Lily has almost been sleeping in her chair), until he hands me one. It has a teal rhinestone handle, and is fairly long.
"Ah, this wand is ash, phoenix feather, swishy, and precisely 11 inches. Go on, give it a wave." I wave the beautiful wand in the air, and red and gold sparkles erupt from the tip of it.
"Your turn, Lily!!" She doesn't take as long as I did; about five wands are rejected before she ends up with a 10 and a quarter inch willow wand, and swishy like mine. Her core is a strand of unicorn hair.
We pay for our wands, me five galleons and Lily four, and walk out of the shop. We glance at each other and then at The Magical Menagerie, and race each other to the shop. I win by barely a second, and then we open the door and step into paradise.
If you haven't noticed by now, I love animals. I wish I could get one of every type of animal, except a snake. Those things are nasty. I breathe in deeply, and set out to find my pet. I think that we can only have one, but I wonder if I could get a second. I'm assuming I can. If I can't, I could just sneak it in.
I examine all of the owls, but none of them feel right. Until I see her. Her eyes are a deep brown, almost black. She looks like the epitome of knowledge, and I think I would name her Rowena, after the founder of the Ravenclaw house (the house of scholars and smart people). I smile at her, and cautiously lift my arm up to her. She hoots gently at me, flapping her wings to land on my shoulder.
I turn to look at the puppies, and I smile at their playfulness and exuberance. I laugh at their play fighting, and then my gaze lands on this cutie, a beagle. She looks about a few months old, and her little silky ears flop down in front of her. I pick her up gently, and she licks my face. I giggle at her adorable face, the brown eyes joyfully staring back at me. I look over my shoulder to see Lily with her calico kitten.
I bring the beagle and Rowena to the checkout desk, with an owl perch, owl treats, dog food, dog bowls, a leash, and a collar. The final purchase for my adorable pets is twenty galleons, which I happily hand over.
I attach the collar and leash to the puppy, and she barks at me. I smile, and I lead them out to where my parents are. James, unfortunately, has seen Lily and won't stop flirting with her. Terribly.
"Jamesie-poo, you need to stop flirting with Lils over there. It's not polite, and we are only eleven. Eleven."
"But this angel is deserving of-mmph" The "mmph" was from my hand going over his mouth so that he doesn't embarrass poor Lily more.
"Bye Lily. See you September 1st!" I smile at her, and she smiles back. "If it's okay with you, I'll send you an owl!"
She responds, "Okay, I'll be awaiting your owl. But not his." I laugh and Lily leaves through the Leaky Cauldron. I pick up my puppy and hold her in my arms while Rowena holds onto my shoulder. I grab onto Dad's arm this time while James grabs on to Mom's, and we apparate back home. I make sure to keep a close hold on my puppy and Dad, so that we don't get splinched. That would be bad.
I race upstairs to put my pets' things in my room and to find out a name for my puppy. My owl's name is Rowena, and she seems to like that name. I pick my puppy up, and she wriggles around. I place her on my bed, and she immediately rolls up into a ball. I scan my bookshelf for a good book, and I decide on Quidditch Through the Ages. I'm scrolling through the book quickly, and then on page 94, I found her name. Nimbus.
"Nimbus, come here!" Nimbus's head shot up, probably because she is a very smart puppy. She can't just be a beagle, as that isn't a magical pet. She probably is a crup because crups are very smart and know their name immediately (A/N: I don't really know if this is true or not. My fanfic, my rules!).
Author's Note: I'm currently writing this at 10 PM at night. I am very excited because this is my first fanfiction ever. I'm fine if you correct my spelling, but I'm only fourteen and the vocabulary might not be the greatest. If you don't know from my username, the only fanfictions I'd write about are Harry Potter, Divergent, and Star Wars. Please fill out the form for me so that I know what to include. Thanks!
I updated this because I'm bored so I added Lily's kitten's picture. You might not be able to access the form, so I'll just write it in.
Should Jessica and Sirius sneak Regulus Black onto the train with James's invisibility cloak?
What house should Regulus Black be in?
What year should Jessica and Sirius recognize their feelings for each other?
What year should Jessica and Sirius get together (fifth year and up)?
Should Jessica and Sirius break up throughout the story and why?
Should I include any other POVs other than Sirius's and Jessica's?
Any other suggestions?
