Early Life and Education

Dallas Christina Hughes was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on February 11th, 1995. She has a twin sister, actress Sienna Hughes, and a younger brother, musician/singer Grant Hughes. She started acting in community theater as a child, and made her professional screen acting debut in Other People (2016). She graduated from the Nashville School of the Arts, then moved to New York City with her sister.

Career

Hughes appeared as Alexandra Mulcahey in the 2016 comedy-drama film Other People, which was her first large role in a film, at age 20. In 2017, she played the role of Meredith Whitcomb in the film The House of Tomorrow and made her directorial debut with the short film Don't Mind Alice, which she co-wrote and co-directed alongside Olivia Rosenbloom.

The following year in 2018, Hughes starred as Grace in the film Assassination Nation. The film's director, Sam Levinson, subsequently cast Hughes as a series regular in his HBO teen drama series Euphoria, which debuted in 2019; where she stars as Lexi Howard in the series, a role that Levinson wrote specifically for Hughes. In 2019, Hughes was cast as Cassandra Drew in Prime Video's Panic (2021), which she shot quickly after Euphoria Season One wrapped, and then premiered in 2021. In 2020, she co-starred in comedy-drama film The King of Staten Island, as the sister of Pete Davidson's character.

In 2022, Hughes starred in Greta Gerwig's Barbie as Theater Barbie. Fittingly, Hughes made her New York theatrical debut Off-Broadway in 2023, replacing Lena Hall as Audrey in a revival of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's Little Shop of Horrors, with a planned stint from February to April. The opportunity to appear on stage was available due to the delay in filming of the third season of Euphoria, with Hughes citing Little Shop of Horrors as an important musical for having "sort of introduced me to the genre as a whole" when she was a child. She subsequently extended an additional four weeks, through to the end of April. With her Little Shop run coming to a close, it was then announced that Hughes would join the West End revival of Cabaret from May 29, in the starring role of Sally Bowles. She completed her time with the show on September 23.

In January 2024, Hughes was cast alongside Naomi Scott to star in Smile 2, which will premiere October 18.

Personal Life

From February 2017 to April 2020, Hughes dated actor Alexander Fitzalan. After their split in 2020, she was connected with actor Austin Butler in July until August 2021. Fans constantly commented on the two's names, and their matching Texas states origins.

Hughes has two siblings, actress Sienna Hughes and musician/singer Grant Hughes. The three all rose to fame in the last decade in their respective areas.

Hughes shares a birthday with her Panic co-star, Olivia Scott Welch. The two are known for celebrating together, along with Hughes' sister Sienna.
