Chapter  50

Unedited

Somewhere in Lagos.....

"I have no fucking idea where I am right now" A dark complexioned girl said on camera, it was one of the girls Simone spoke to the other night. When I say fucking I mean, I have no fucking idea and I've been in Lagos for how many years. I thought I knew Lagos but I just realize say I never start" she said looking behind to see if anyone was coming.

"My name doesn't matter cause I don't know if I'll survive the night cause I had to enter into a jungle  because I was avoiding getting killed." She busted into tears.

"People popularly call me Omo selfie cause I can take selfie for Africa. My friends and I met this guy named Simone at a bar, aswear, it's my God that will punish him! He said he's a contractor for politicians, It's God that will punish this politicians too!" She exhaled. "We...." She trailed off.

"This guy seemed legit! Like really legit. That night, we didn't even do much, we just kept some men busy, a little blow job, belly touching and we had our straight 20 k,we thought that our saviour has come in another human form! Little did we know that it's a straight ticket to hell. He called us for another deal and we.... We jumped! We jumped like stupid people, there's no prayer I did not give that idiot oh" she cried.

"I prayed for him, I did not know that the oloribu, oloshi, omo were had plans! He said the place was far but we accepted. We met one Madam Cash that now handled the travelling. It was just the three of us on this journey with Oloriburuku Madam cash were! Madam radarada.

When we got down, she didn't follow us in, she said she had other big business to deal with, that we were small fries, that was the term she used, small fries. I didn't know that the useless woman was literal, small fries" she busted into tears.

"We entered blindly into this place we met the men and we were supposed to have sex with them, I saw the cash in my hand, I was getting all ready to gibe this man the time of his life when I saw a text on my phone. My babe warned me to leave that she saw... I don't know what she saw, I had the voice note. That moment I now remembered my Qur'an. I swear, I prayed, anybody that says prayer does not work, he's lying.  How I got out, I can't begin to explain but they were following me before I jumped into this place. I don't know if they'll catch up to me but if they do, I'll be dropping Simone's and Madam Cash picture down here. I took quick selfies with them, my dear Lagosians, you know how we do it now! If I die, my death cannot go without anything! Please you guys should help me give them the best jungle justice ever seen. They cannot survive oh, its this people that need to die so that they'll stop deceiving desperate girls. Girls, ehn! Make being desperate, no be say I no get wetin I dey do oh. Na just say na 15k I dey earn and I want fast cash! Please I am begging you all, use good fuel to destroy their body, please"

Osas and Osaze quietly watched the video, "Maybe we should have caught him that day Aunt Uyi called" "If we had, Chief would have thought we were on to him" "True. Who's going to give her justice?" "Lagos will"  "What if.... Osaze what if they're still using the building?"

"The building has been locked by the police, I don't think anyone's practising any ritual there. Besides, the police have caught them all, it's in the news and they'll all undergo the same judgement. Justice Lateef promised she'll personally see to it that they get what they deserve"

"Let's confirm at least. So we'll know what to do"

Folabi was led into a new office, "Congratulations on your promotion Mr Kuti Badmus, welcome to your new office" she flashed a smile at him just before leaving. She returned back into the office, "Whatever you need Sir, I'm just a phone call away. I mean whatever you need" she replied winking at him and he forced a smile.

"No problem"

"Anything at all" she repeated before leaving.

"This one has jones" he answered then he looked around the office completely conflicted whether yo accept the promotion or not. This was all he ever wanted!

Madam Cash called Simone, "Guy you dey see wetin that fucking babe post for net?" "I don view the thing taya" "And what are you doing about it?" "What do you want me to do?"

"I hope say them catch am kill am yesterday" "They didn't. She escape"

"I swear, if I ever see that Babe with my koro koro eyes, I'll kill her! I swear. So what's your plan now? I wanted to fly our of the country but our pictures are all over the fucking internet"

Simone looked out his window, "Find somewhere you can hide at least for two weeks or three by the time you get out, Nigerians would have forgotten about what happened"

"Are you sure?"

Simone scoffed, "Except we're not in Nigeria, abeg forget that thing! We won't get caught, just stay indoors, in matter of weeks, no one will talk about this thing again. The trend will pass"

At the building

Osas walked into the house with Osaze by his side, the living room was crowded with about thirty girls. "See there's nothing going on here, the door was practically locked" "Oh my God" She muttered as Adetutu walked up to her.

"What?" Osaze asked, "They are all here" "Who?" "Every dead girl, they are all gathered in here right now"

"Hey Osas" Adetutu waved, "What are you guys still doing here, Chief Akinola and his people have been arrested. I thought if we get justice then the ghost can rest in peace"

"For some reason we can't rest in peace, like we're tied to where we were killed or maybe you guys will have to dig up our bodies and give us a mass burial, I don't know. You have to consult spiritualist cause it's disturbing and I really do want to rest in peace"

Osas stepped out of the building with Osaze and two policemen. "We can have that mass burial, it's very much possible but burning the building to the ground? We'll have through a lot of rigorous processes. We might have to write a letter to the local government council of this place"

"What if I buy the place, e go cheap now. With the kain wahala way don gas, I go fit buy am, burn the thing. After how many years later, I go come sell am, shebi that's real estate?"

Osaze laughed, "Who taught you that?" "I can do that right?" She asked and he exhaled. "It's not going to be easy"  "Please try"  he replied then his phone rang. "There was nothing" He said to Kubiat on answering the call.

"I already said, there's no way anyone can get in. So Osaze,I already bought the ring and I'm planning on the perfect proposal strategy. I have plans to propose on Friday night in the name of guys night out, it'll be like a surprise"

"Friday is Vera's baby shower, she'll kill you"

"Jeez! I totally forgot, how aboutThursday, today is thursday sef abi I should just postpone it till next week. I want to do it in front if everyone" "Dude,  it's a proposal not a wedding, make it on Today, we're here for you man, we've got your back"

Kubiat exhaled then he chuckled, "Thank you man, you just made my day. Thanks" he replied hanging up. Osas raised her brow in special interest. "Oh my God, him don buy the ring" "Yes. He wants to propose today in front of everyone"

She squealed. "Please don't tell Ejiro" "My lips are sealed"

Evening

Edo state

"Baby I'm missing you already" Eniola pouted her lips on a video call with Folabi who was in his parent's house. "Ehya" "Are you serious? Ehya, that's all you can say?"

"I'm in my parent's living room, I came visiting and I'm trying to keep this chat PG, cause if I want to start talking about how much I miss you and all other things"

"Please keep it PG" Jemima pushed her head to the camera then she waved. "Hello Folabi" "Hey dear" "Did Eniola tell you that my wedding card is out?"

"Huh?

"My wedding card, did she tell you its out?"

"No. Wow, congratulations dear"  "Thank you" she replied and Eniola pushed her head away. "Now can i have your full attention" "Yes, Queen Eniola, what do you want? Your wish is my command?"

"Come back to Lagos"

Folabi clicked his tongue, "I was given a promotion" he announced to her shock. "Oh" was all she could say then she faked a smile, "Oh my God, that's ... Thats good. I'm happy for you" she lied. "Are you?" He asked and she shook her head.

"No"

"Eniola"

"Good night Folabi"

"Sweet"

"I'll need a night to process the news. Good night Folabi"

Folabi's Mom sat down close to her son, "Is that Eniola?" "Yes. I hope you sent my greetings" "She just ended the call" "When you bring her for marriage?" "Mom" "You are getting old and you don't know."

"Afolabi" she called out, "Mom, I'll get married next year, it's already November, I'll have to make plans first"  "That wasn't even what i wanted to say. Is there a way we can we get Adetutu's body back so that we can bury her and give her a proper burial, at least she deserves that after the mess she went through"  "Mom, there are lots of bodies there" "They should dig and bring out my own child. Even if its just her body, I am okay"

Her husband walked in, "Your son just got in after a long day at work and you don't even want him to rest. Assuming he didn't stop by at the house, you'll still be the one to complain" "Daddy wa, its the truth, let's be sincere here. That building they killed all the girl is an altar oh. Anybody can go back and do anything and it will work for them. They must have caught these ritualist but what I think is that burial show be conducted by lay them in peace, even if it's mass burial, they should hold, I'll attend"

Osaze's house

"I can't find the ring guys" A nervous Kubiat yelled, Richard, Osaze and Obinna who were watching a football match raised their brow at him including Osas, Obianuju, Omo and Chika. "Why are you guys looking at me that way. I left home with it, I'm so sure I left home with it"

"Oga calm down. The ring is in your hand" Osas yelled while Chika laughed.  "Sorry but mehn, you're so nervous. It's just proposal and you're shaking like this, a whole police man like you that has experience gun to gun combat, simple proposal and you dey shake like this"

"Its not easy oh" Raymond answered, "If you had seen me the day I proposed to Nuju"

Obianuju busted out laughing. "This man was so nervous" "

Kubiat brought out the ring looking into it then he plunged it into the pocket of his trousers. You guys don't forget, whenever Ejiro comes in, we'll act normal like it's a normal guys night out in Osaze's place. When I start giving my speech, I already told you guys the cue to raise the card" he blabbed but they all returned their gaze back to the football.

"Guys now!"

"Guy, we dey watch ball now" Raymond complained. Kubiat picked up the remote turning off the television and the guys began complaining. "Ejiro will be here in any moment, I want to surprise her, if you guys are not going to stand by me. I think you all should just leave!"

"It's..... my house" Osaze answered jokingly meeting Kubiat's glare. Obinna grabbed his phone in order to watch it.  "Guys, guys... Kubi is right, we need to..... sacrifice this time even though......" He exhaled pointing at the television. "The game is on now, why him sef go fix proposal for the day way my club they play?"

"Bim Bim, you can watch the recap" Omo suggested and he pouted. "That's like reading today's newspaper by 5pm"

"Bim? Please drop the phone let's plan this thing well" She pouted her lips and he smiled. "Someone just bribed me" he replied dropping his phone.

"So as I was saying. Osaze you are to carry the 'Will' card, Raymond,  'you marry' card while Obinna will hold the me card and you're all to stand in that order, please guys no fuck up"

"Don't you trust us?" Raymond asked putting a smile on Kubiat's face.

"I'm just happy this wedding breeze is blowing about oh. Everyone with their perfect partners and all" Obianuju stated and Chika raised her fingers. "Minus me oh, I never see my own yet, if you guys have someone serious, I am game oh"

Omo poured a drink into a glass, "You guys ended up with good men, turns out my man knows every prostitute in Lagos" she snapped sipping the drink and Obinna laughed.  "Not every prostitute, that was then" "Ah i see, that was then, did you burn all your memories? Won't you still remember them when you see them?"

"I will"  "So peradventure we get married, 60% of the guest will be your conquest"

"Plus the wife" Raymond chipped in and Obinna bumped gist with him, "Thank you, plus the wife" he repeated now meeting with Omo's hard face. "Raymond no dey talk that kind thing make my ear hear. It's not funny but Omo, on a serious note oh, Its not as if there any guy that hasn't passed through that journey. Even Saint Osaze sef is guilty"

"Really?" Osas turned towards him, "Huh.... It was just a one time thing. Thank you very much Obinna!"

Ejiro knocked on the door then she walked in looking at everyone with a glass of drink in their hands. Her gaze fell on Kubiat. "I thought you said you weren't around that I should come by this time" "I changed my mind"

"And you couldn't tell me? Look at everyone flexing with their partners except Chika" "God will visit me someday"

"Someone should pour me a glass let me drink to that"  she replied and everyone laughed.

Kubiat poured her a glass of wine then he handed it to her, "Let's celebrate to something else" "Celebrate to what? It's not even my birthday" she replied completely clueless! She didn't think Kubiat will propose to her anytime soon.

"I want to celebrate a beautiful woman, sweet with a big heart, remember the first day we met Ejiro? You had that big crop top on and that beautiful smile to accessorize the whole thing. Then I thought I was in love with another but you slowly captured my heart and showed me what love really is"  he paused staring at the guys who were just staring at them.

"And you showed me what love really is" he repeated again now looking into her eyes and she wondered why he was repeating the same thing. The guys only kept on staring.

Ejiro collected the glass from him, "I'll drink to that and to Chika finding the love of her life and also to the best man in the world" she dunked the drink.

"Guys now! I said she showed me love really is" he said with gritted teeth and Osaze nodded, "Guys that's our cue" "I thought it was...Guy the speech is short" Obinna argued then they all rushed to pick up their customized card boards.

"What's going on here?" Ejiro asked as they lifted up their cards smiling at her.

Will me you marry?

Ejiro gasped in shock a d at the same she laughed at the error. Then she turned towards Kubiat who was now glaring at the guys. "Raymond, you're with Obi's card" he complained slapping his face then they laughed while repositioning themselves in the right order.

"I'm sure she got the message" Obi responded.

"You guys are a mess!" he shouted, going on his knees then she laughed out loud covering her palm on her lips.

"I swear I didn't see this coming"

"Why?"

"You told me the guys were planning a guy's night out that's supposed to start some minutes from now. It was so believable and i didn't think you'll want to settle with someone like me. I didn't think you'll see me fit enough to..."

"Ejiro, when i saw what you did at the hospital, the way you stood my me and everything you've done, every words of encouragement you've given me even in my darkest hour. When I saw myself as a failure, you didn't and when I said you're the best gift ever, it dawned on me that you deserve more than being just a girlfriend. I've never been more positive love, you are my wife."

Ejiro cried. "My God" "No dey form speech for here just say yes" "You guys don't even want me to give my own speech" "Just say Yes" Chika answered, "Babe, we know you love him, you loved him even before he did"

"Yes I'll marry you" she replied then Osas blew horns. Kubiat wore the ring over her fingers. "Congrats to the future Mrs Ejiro Bassey. You may kiss your bride!" She screamed making Ejiro laugh.  She instantly pressed her lips over his lips, the couples kissed passionately.

Chika sprinkled on them.

The following day

"On the 23rd of October, Chief Akinola Bello was sentenced to death by hanging for numerous crime including the attempted rape of Osarieme Ovbiokpnwan and involvement in money ritual practices. It has been confirmed that Chief Akinola has been executed accordingly at the early morning along side Chief Oloyede and Chief Sani."  The newscaster on television announced on television and Morenike immediately placed a call to General"

"The news about Chief"

"Its genuine, he's been executed with two"

"And the rest?"

"Will follow suit"

"Am I free to go about my business without all the security following me?"

"There's news that one of the cult's assassin, Judas has been sent to specifically kill you. We don't know where he is, he's hiding which is smart move for now, he might strike anytime, the question is when?"

Osas' phone rang while she watched the news, she had to reduce the volume before  answering the call. "Good morning Osas" Folabi greeted, "Hey dear, how you dey?" "I just dey"  "Did you see the news about Chief Akinola?"

"Yes I did, I had to even ask one of the reporters at probers to confirm the autencity of the news"

"The Judge assured us there won't be any tricks" "Okay. So... I got promoted" "Awwwn, congrats, that means you no go come back again. Eniola go cry" "She was pretty much angry when I mentioned it yesterday."

"Are you staying?"

"I don't know" "Whatever you decide, I dey your back you hear?"

"Thanks. I stopped by at the house yesterday and Mom said something that sounded bizaare but if we're looking at it closely, it does make sense" "What?"

"She wants something done about the house and the bodies allegedly seen in the building. She thinks we should dig out bodies and organize a mass burial"  "The same discussion I had with Osaze, we went there yesterday, the ghost are still in the house. Adetutu suggested we burn the house down or we burn their corpse"

Folabi kept quiet, hearing Adetutu's name silenced him, "Hey! I'm sorry I said that" "It's okay." "Osaze said it's going to take a lot of time" "And you guys are planning for your wedding already" "Maybe you'll need to speak with spiritual heads about this.   Whatever you guys conclude on, let me know"

"Definitely. Take care dear

"Take care of yourself too"  he hung up and Ejiro called in almost immediately. "Good morning Osas" Ejiro began, "Morning Mrs Kubiat Bassey" "Calm down now, the guy hasn't even taken me to the altar"

"He will soon"

"I heard about Chief Akinola, the news is all over. Chika is a mad woman, if you see the message she sent to me this morning ehn!"  She gasped and Osas laughed, Chika forwarded a Happy Justice day, evil heads must roll!  message.

"Thanks for yesterday" Ejiro  added and Osas smiled. "For what?" "You know what? Yesterday was great"  "It was nothing Mrs Kubiat Bassey, you're welcome." "I'm scared" "Of what? Getting married?" "Yes and No. Osas I'm just literally starting my job and I don't want everything being on Kubi alone, he's already talking about me meeting his parents and my parents and you know that I'm really not on good terms with them"

"Haven't you called them since you got your job"

Ejiro rolled her eyes, "I was avoiding my mother's trouble" she replied and Osas laughed, "You just have to face the trouble, babe you're getting married, you don't have a choice now, if Kubi wants this, I'm sure there'll be a marriage early next year or you guys might be having December wedding with us"

"Me, I'll really prefer that next year like towards that May time"

"Babe! It's far"

"At least I would have saved for it now"

"I'll help in any way that I can"

"No"  Ejiro argued, "You have your problems" "Babe, I want to help,  please let me. I've been waiting for an opportunity to help you with something. Kubiat won't be happy if you say that, the guy really wants to get married. Remember when I had no one, when i had nothing. You were there for me, Babe, let me just help this time abeg, please. I owe you big time!"

Ejiro chuckled, "I don't want you feeling like you owe Osas, what I did was from my heart and because I cared about you. It was legit and genuine love" "I love you too babe. What do you say?"

"I guess I'll be taking pre-wedding gifts before the wedding gifts" she replied and Osas exhaled. "Thank you Babe" Osas replied, "No, you thank you for having a big heart and not dropping us during your transition into a classy woman. You're truly a friend, God bless you Osas"

Eniola watched a video on YouTube with so much concentration.  "Now you break the eggs and whisk it, if you don't have a whisker, you can make do with your fork. I love making pancakes for my husband, he eats it basically every day"

She broke the eggs in her hands into a bowl. Her phone buzzed, her skipped on seeing it was Folabi.  She picked up the phone from the counter "Hey Baby" she said, "How was your night?" "It was.... I couldn't sleep"

"I guess it's my fault"

"Folabi it's fine, I'm glad you have the promotion. I should be considerate and support you in this journey. You don't have to worry about me stalking you cause I had that in mind. We'll be going to Benin for Osas' introduction maybe next week, I'm not sure but I'll definitely see you then!"

"What happened to you? Last night you were angry"

"Jemima sent a soft copy of a inspirational book for me to read. Baby, I love you and I wish things were a lot more different but if this is what it is..... " She shrugs, "I don't have any choice but to support you" she sniffled wiping her tears off.

"You're missing out on pancakes, I'm making pancakes"

"Try not to burn the house down"

Eniola laughed, "I will" "The cab just alighted in front of the institution. I'll talk to you later, have a nice day" "You too dear"  she replied and Folabi hung up.

He smiled in satisfaction then he called Osaze, "Good morning Osaze" "Good morning Folabi, Osas told me you called" "This your Amebo wife sha. I need a favor" "Shoot?"

"Can you help me find a decent house there in Lagos and then get back to me?"

Osaze smiled. "You're coming back?" "Don't let Eniola know" "My lips are sealed"

12:14 pm

In a boutique, Osas and Osaze walked towards the children section to shop for things towards Vera's baby shower that evening. Osaze stared at the baby dress for a while, it was a pink fluffy gown, he thought of how lovely it'll look on a baby; his baby. A wide smile curved his lips.

Osas placed her hands on his shoulder jolting him out of his thoughts. "I saw one fine baby Blanket" "You're calling the blanket like a village woman"  "Whatever. Let's go see it" "Wait..." He glanced at the gown. "What? That's a female gown, Vera is having a boy"

"Not Vera, I like it"

"Okay... Let me ask the sales girl if she has one that can actually size you" she teased and he busted out laughing.  "I'm talking about for us"

Osas laughed, "Are you being serious?" "I'll like it for our daughter" "Osaze, you do realize even if we do have a baby right now it might just be a boy and by then this cloth might have gone out of fashion" "I like it"

"Osaze!" Osas groaned.

"It looks perfect on her" he signalled to the sales lady, "I'll have this specially" "Osaze" "Don't worry I have faith it'll be a girl"

"Awwwn" The lady stared at Osas' belly, " It's never too early to shop for baby things"

"I'm not even pregnant, no mind this man, him just dey find wetin him go carry money buy" she replied and the lady laughed.

Evening

Vera held on tightly to the kitchen counter, her eyes shut as she tried to fight off her third contraction for that day. Philip walked in to see her in that position. "Are you okay" "Yeah I am"

"That's like the second time I've seen you do that"

"It's my last days, the doctor said its normal to have these feelings"

"We should go to the hospital"

"And what? Be like those women who will end up being in the hospital for days because they had false alarm" "Remember that antenatal class I attended with you? If you're having contractions, its advisable we go to the clinic"

"Today's my baby shower and I'm not going anywhere. I'll hold it in till tomorrow, we can go tomorrow morning okay?"

They both heard a knock on the door and Vera smiled, "Our guests are here!" Vera rushed to the door seeing Osaze and Osas holding their wrapped gift, "Baby showers are strictly for women now" "Really?" Osaze asked, "All the guys are coming oh"

"You guys are buming my baby shower" she complained and Osaze kissed her on the cheek, "Love you too" he replied walking in while Osas smiled staring at her belly.

"When are you due?" She asked and Vera exhaled. "In five days" she replied and Osas place her hands on her belly. "You sha know say these dates sometimes no dey always correspond"

"I do. Thank you for Osas"

"You're welcome. Happy baby shower"

One by one, guests came in for the baby shower bearing gifts, close friends, in laws and few female colleagues at work.

Vera and her sister in law had planned out six games for the night, just at the third game, another contraction hit her again. Others have come in the course of the party but this one was particularly painful for her to endure.

She stared at all the men who had balloons underneath their shirt, it was funny, really funny! The look on Osaze's face was the funniest, she could see through him if he had an opportunity, he would have ran out of the building.

Obinna was goofing around with the balloon in his belly. Raymond's baloon busted and everyone laughed harder, "How many minutes pregnancy and you're already losing it?" Obianuju commented and a grimace spread across his face.

"Ouch"

Everyone was laughing and taking pictures but Vera couldn't, she wanted to pretend and act like everything was alright. She didn't even know when she screamed. "Argh!" She held on to a stool used for one of the games.

Everyone turned towards her while Philip ran to meet her. "What happened, are you okay?" "No" she replied, "Vera, what's going on?" Osas asked, "She's having her third contraction for today"

"The sixth one" Vera corrected and Philip raised his brow in shock. "The what? Seriously Vera"

Osas walked up to her, "How far is the contraction? Like the timing, how does it come? Two, two minutes or less" "I wasn't timing it, at first it was far apart now it's been consistent"

"The baby is coming"

"See! I've been telling her all day"

"You can stay angry if you want. I wanted to have my baby shower. It's been long overdue!"  "

"Let's go to the hospital now. I'll get the maternity basket"

"Okay!" Vera exhaled and he left.

"It'll be fine, have you heard. It's going to be fine, just breath in and out like five times" Osas advised and Vera inhaled and exhaled thrice then she exhaled finally. "Okay.... Okay..." She raised her hands. "We can continue with the baby shower"

"No!" They all shouted now arguing with her.

"I said I'm fine"

Philip got out with the basket, "Let's go" "I'm fine, I'm sure it's a false alarm" she replied,  "We'll confirm that in the hospital, let's go"

She groaned again. "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus"  "See! Why are you been stubborn now? Let's go, Osaze talk to your sister"  "Vera" Osaze called out and Vera rolled her eyes.

"Sis" Tacha called out, "I've heard. I want to pee fiirst"

"Vera"

"I'm pressed, let me pee!" She snapped leaving and Osas followed her. Vera entered into the toilet while Osas waited outside for her, two minutes later she heard Vera groned in pain.

"Are you okay?" She asked opening the door to see Vera on her feet, legs spread apart in between the toilet, "I think my water broke and the pain there... Osas the pain" she shuddered through the pain.

"Can you walk?" Osas asked and Vera shook her head.
"I don't think so" She replied.

"Philip! Our husband oh!" She screamed and he walked into the room, towards the toilet. "She can't walk, can you please get her on the bed so I can examine if there's time for her to be taken to the hospital or we have to perform an emergency delivery"

"Who will do it?"

"She will" Vera answered, "That's like her job!"

Philip carried his wife while complaining about her stubborn she had been, "We could have been in the hospital" "Oh will you stop complaining, ah!" She screamed as he laid her on the bed.

Osas laughed knowing the labour madness only just began. "Spread your legs" she requested and Vera did, she shifted Vera's panties to the side then she exhaled on seeing the wide opening of her cervix.

Philip stood still unable to move again from the sight.

"Your vix don open, Philip get me the kits, the things I need should be in there.  I need scissors, methylated spirit, if you don't have I can make do with dry gin and get me Omo to assist me"

Vera groaned shutting her eyes and Philip exhaled, "Its going to fine" "Don't say its going to be fine, you don't shit about how this feels. Its not fine, I'm in pains" "I'm sorry" he apologised walking out of the room.

"Madam, you have to keep calm and stay strong, no vex for the guy no be am do am."

Vera raised her brow and she laughed, "Okay naim do am but na the two of una follow enjoy am." "The pain, I never thought it'll be this painful" she cried, "The labour madness go soon start, youre probably going to start getting angry at him, calling him names you dont mean. You might even make a decision not to have any child again. I want you to know that there's power in words. Just think of the beautiful times you've spent, call him those sweet names even though you're angry, it'll be over before you know it" she answered and Vera smiled.

"We've had a lot beautiful moments, I don't know which to pick from"

"Good, its working already"

She groaned and Philip entered with the kit then Omo followed him in. "Her vix don open?" She asked and Osas nodded.

Everyone waited in worry while Vera's scream filled the whole sitting room. "God!" Raymond exhaled staring at Obianuju, "I'm scared too" she confessed and they both laughed.

Eniola paced left and right nervously, she has never been so up close to someone giving birth, "Isn't it over yet?" She asked and Osaze rose up from the chair. "I was going to ask the same question. How long will this take?"

One of the colleagues who was a mother laughed. "Why are you all this nervous, this is how is usually is, the only thing I'm scared of is the potential of the woman handling the labour, God forbid, if she slips, it might not be funny"

"I've seen her do it before" He answered,  "Then relax and have faith that both the mother and child will make it out alive"

This was followed by the baby's cry. Everyone sighed in relief.

Morenike held on to the baby, she couldn't stop crying. She hasn't let go of the baby since she carried him. Philip's parents stood by waiting to carry the baby, in order not to brew any more quarrels they had to wait for her.  "I can't believe I was going to miss out on this. This is really beautiful"

Vera slowly shut her eyes to sleep while Nana patted her by the arm. "Weldone, you have tried"  "Are you sure we don't have to take the baby to the hospital for check up?" Philip asked, "The baby is okay but you guys can go tomorrow, make the Mama rest abeg. She don try!"

"If you say doctor" he replied and she laughed.

"You dey whine me?"

"No. You were pretty amazing"

"She is amazing" Osaze replied staring dreamingly at the baby.  "I've never been the kind to subscribe to home birth but I'm grateful Osas was here. I would have just gone mad"

"My daughter, God bless you" Philip's Mom replied.
"Amen Ma"

Morenike rose up handing the baby to his mother, "Osas, can we talk for a moment?" She requested making Osas nervous as they both quietly walked out of the room. "I know Vera should have been taken to a clinic, if it wasn't the opening that I saw, we could have rushed her."

"Why are you explaining?"

Osas shrugged, "I thought you were going to complain about how disappointed you are that " "That my daughter and grandson is okay? Why will I be? I am one of the happiest person in the world right now. This is my first grandchild among many. I just want to say thank you for what you did.  I can't thank you enough for helping my daughter with her delivery"

"It's nothing"

"We should have met with our in laws already. I'm talking about the ones from both your paternal and maternal family.  There's no time to waste at all"

Osas smiled. "We've already made that arrangement with Papa already, he has to make some traditional rites first to clear the way for us. As soon as he's done, we'll get on to the wedding plans proper"  "Any plans to further study? I think you'll make a fine doctor or obstetrician or a gynaecologist."

"Yes. Osaze and I already made plans on that. I've always wanted to be a doctor, in fact Osaze already paid for tutorials that year until..." She trailed off, "I'm ..." She cleared her throat, "I feel like I'm at fault" "No. See, let's not dwell on this topic. We should be forging ahead, advancing and charting the future of our family not dwelling on the past"

Morenike smiled, "You know what  I think? I think you're a bundle of talent, you keep me amazed by the day"  "See as my head dey swell. I really appreciate it" "I know some people I can introduce you to, they'll make your journey very much easy"

12:13 am

Osas walked into Osaze's house, she took off her shoes, she suddenly felt squeasy so she held on to couch in order not to fall. "Are you okay?" Osaze asked and she nodded. "I never chop yet, I'm really hungry and this is past midnight already and I'm tired"

"After that work you did"

"Which work? No be say na twins I deliver. I don't get tired like this, I'm just hungry. I no even get time chop the small chops way Vera do" "I saw you eating at the party"

"One puff puff way no reach my hand. Do you want to eat too? I'll prepare something"

"No. I just want to sleep" he scratched his eyes. "Thank you once again for Vera" "You're welcome, when will they bring the wedding cards. I no wan forget those people way I want invite oh, Mama Justice, Justice Lateefa, Miss Helen that Kubiat colleague, that guy way they work with Kubiat, I being remember one person now, I don forget. Eh hen, my brother and sisters, Ernest go come, I don't know about Jessica and Adesua, especially Jessica"

"Goodnight Babe" he kissed him on the lips and she kissed him too. "I don talk too much be that" "Goodnight" he kissed her lips again and she laughed.  "Make I wake you when I don charge my energy?" She asked then he laughed.

"Don't"

"I'll disturb you like sexy mad!"

"I'll sue you for rape" he yelled leaving and she laughed hard throwing her head backwards then she exhaled swiping to the period tracker app on her phone.

7:02 am

Osas sat on the toilet seat urinating when Chika called her on phone. "Good morning" Osas greeted in a low voice. "Wetin do you?" "I dey toilet, I dey try push shit"

Osaze entered into the toilet laughing and spraying perfume, "Legendary reply, I can't believe you didn't feel weird saying that"  "It's not smelling!"  She groaned and he laughed.

"Look at your face. Did you eat stone?"

"Leave me alone, you don't even know what's doing me" she hissed, "Chika what were you saying?"

"I was ... I wish I can unhear everything I just heard. Anyways.... I came bearing news, guess who was arrested yesterday. Sorry it's stale news but I didn't get it early."

"Who? Simone?"

"No. Madam Cash, she was caught at the airport, someone recognized her and she was arrested. I'll forward the pictures to you now"  she explained ending the call.

"Madam Cash has been caught by the police"

"Are you serious?"

Osas turn on her data, went on WhatsApp. She waited for her pictures to load then she showed them to him. "She's the one. I recognize that stupid face. I swear all of them" she pushed, "Oh my God" they will catch them one by one."

"Tacha will be leaving today. Judging from her on and off madness, I don't even know when we'll see her again"

"She'll come visiting once in a while, you've forgotten that our wedding is there" she pushed again, "Don't talk, just do the pushing on your own, no one needs to hear the side push"

"The annoying thing is that nothing is coming out" this time Osaze's heard the sound of poo splashing against the water in the toilet and Osas smiled. "That's the sound of a victory oh oh oh oh"

"Osarieme!"

Tacha took pictures of the baby, "See how cute he looks. I just wish I can stay some days more but if I keep shifting, I might not leave" "Do you really have to?" Vera asked and she nodded.

"I need to resume therapy and then the dance academy. I need to find myself"

Vera hugged her little sister, "Do take care of yourself" "Sure thing, take care of our handsome prince too"  "Do I have a choice?"

🎶 I thought I was the only one, say na me you call your number one,I thought I was the one, why did you lead me on so long 🎶 Chike sang in the studio then his phone buzzed.

He brought out his phone reading a text message from Tacha.

My flight will take off soon, I've always sucked at good-byes and somehow I usually manage to send them through text messages. I wish you the best in music Chike Boo.

🎶Oh Chike oh, this is hard for me to say, but I'm gonna say it anyways, I've fallen out of love with you🎶

The following week

Simone walked into a mall with a cap on, he took a stroll around the mall then his eyes lingered on two girls who were shopping for body cream. "Hello ladies" he said waving at them. "Hello" they both replied. "My name is..... Chris, what are your names?"

"Chinwe"

"Ify"

"Wow..... Are you sisters?"

"Yes, I'm the eldest" Chinwe replied, "What do you guys want? It'll be on me" he requested and she laughed hysterically, "Yeah we know that line very much"

"I don't mean any harm. Just pick whatever you want, I'll pay, I'm not a bad guy, I'm interested in helping you"

"Helping me? Like how?"

Simone brought out a bundle of 500 naira notes. "Jesus, sister"  Ify tapped her sister and she grinned. "Wow, this is really tempting, how many girls do you use this gimmicks on?" "Only girls that catches my eyes"

"Well.... I'm currently shopping with my boyfriend who's over..." She trailed off in search of a boyfriend that doesn't exist. "He was there a while ago and I won't want to be implicated, if you know what I mean"

"I do, maybe i can get your number, we meet up for just drinks. You can bring friends over so we don't have to be alone. You can trust me"

"Thanks for the offer, like I said. I won't want to be implicated.  It's nice to meet you"

Simone sighed defeatedly, "Have a nice day" "You too" she replied watching him leave.

"Sister, he has money"

"If I slap you ehn! Don't you recognize the idiot?"

"No I don't"

"That Simone guy"

Ify gasped covering her lips, "Babes wise up oh before person use your destiny play tennis" she brought out her phone, she went on Twitter then she typed;

@Chichipepper

Guess what guys? I just bumped into Simone the ritualist, the one @Omo_selfie talked about and it matches the description guys. He just tried wooing me with money, location;  Polaris Mall, please repost"

Simone got out of mall meeting the angry mob outside. In his attempt to run back in, a hefty looking guy pushed him to the front. "What's going on here, i think you guys got the wrong person"

The guy behind took off his cap while some quickly checked through their phones for face recognition.  "Na him oh! Na him oh!"   Was all they needed to hear, the angry mobs immediately took turns to rain beatings on him while others took videos of it.

Edo State

George sat in the car crying then Osas joined him. They had just gotten back from the cemetery. "Papa" "Huh?" "It's okay, Aunty Uyi, Osato and Zuwa dey cry, even Obianuju way no even grow up with the woman dey cry. If I join who go console who?"

"I failed her"

"It wasn't your fault, okay? I'm sure she understands"

George sniffled. "I wish she didn't die, I wish she finally got to see all her children, despite her sin."

Osaze tapped on the car and she walked out handing his phone to her.  "Simone has been giving Jungle Justice" "Oh my God" a grimace spread across her face, she suddenly felt sqeazy from the sight.

"E be like say make I vomit like this. That's gruesome, very very. E be like say the fire bust him head"

Osaze collected the phone, "It's enough to give someone nightmare. I didn't want to be the only one to see it"  he replied and she laughed. "So you had to make me see it by force by fire. Ishi!"

"We'll leave tomorrow" "Are you that eager to leave? I haven't even visted anyone yet"

"You know how Benin makes me feel? It's the third day and I'm seriously going on a guilt trip right now"

"Hey! You have nothing to feel guilty about, I thought we've gone past that already? Everything happened for a purpose, and I've never loved you any better"  she placed her hands on his cheeks.

"Let's go back to the house"

Madam Davina leaned against a car and Eniola sat with her. "You didn't go" "Cause I was scared of Ese striking me to death" "I'm sure if mom wanted to, she would have done that already." "I betrayed and abandoned her, my sin his grave"

"You took her son as yours. Why didn't she give up Osas to be adopted?" "She...." Madam Davina sniffled, "She.... um.... She told me Osas wouldn't survive for long if I took her to Lagos."

"She saw it"

"Yes"

"Maybe she picked the better option, rape to death. Maybe she saw all this coming and she planned it"

"What are you saying?" Madam Davina asked and Eniola laughed, "I don't want I'm saying, I'm trying to talk you into not feeling guilty about the whole thing."

"Why are you being nice to me? Obianuju's anger isn't that tensed but yours can boil an egg"

Eniola laughed, "Just yesterday I was listening to my brother's song. It was my first time, don't tell me know." She paused and they both chuckled. "So....  I realized I've had my share of being a bitch yet I was forgiven. Just getting angry at you because you did us a favor. I wouldn't have like to be poor!"

Madam Davina chuckled. "I just want to finally clear the air and say thank you for giving me to parents who took me in as theirs.  I forgive you" she replied hugging her and Madam Davina busted into tears.

"Thank you" she replied and Eniola pulled back meeting Folabi, "I don't know why I'm so emotional" "Maybe because you're in the land of your birth"

"Maybe" she replied and they both chuckled.

"She's so beautiful, I mean Mom"

"Haven't you seen her picture"

"Dad showed us, I'm still angry she gave us up and she didn't strive to take care of us, at the same I'm grateful she gave us up to have a better life. When they spoke about how she suffered, I just wish there was something we could have done.  It's a mixed feeling"

"I never got to know your mother, Osas only told me the story, if she was here, I'm sure she'll be proud of the woman you've become" he replied and she hugged him sobbing quietly.

December 1st

Osifo walked into the room to find Morenike dressed in a navy blue gown. She wore her silver dropping earrings leaving him mesmerized. "You look radiant, but you're late for work already" "I kmow" she replied pointing to the white shirt on the bed. "Dress up"

"For what?"

"It's a surprise" she replied opening the drawer where he keeps his tie. "You've always looked on handsome on navy blue tie, you can wear your navy blue suit on the trousers"

"Suit? What's going on?"

"Its a surprise date and you're requested to look nice"

"In the morning"

"Urgh! Stop arguing and get dressed, don't deny your wife the chance to spoil you"

Osifo smiled. "I'm anxious" "It's normal"

She  pulled Osifo out of the house into the car without giving him any specific reason for it. "Where are we going to?" He asked for the fifth time as they both sat at the backseat of the car while the driver made a turn.

"It's a surprise"

"Its not even my birthday"

"I know, it's a surprise"

"Is Osaze planning something? I notice Nana wasn't at home too. What's going on?" He asked as they drove into the court registry. Osifo raised his brow confused. "What are we doing here?" He asked, Shawn parked the car, opened up the door and they both stepped out.

Suddenly he saw Osaze and Osas approach him, they both dressed as though they were going for a cooperate meeting. "I guess congratulations are in order Dad" "For what?" "Our wedding" she replied to his surprise.

"I didn't even think of it, I didn't know you'll take it seriously"

"I'm renewing my vows Honey, today felt like the perfect day for it being the first day of the month"
Vennessa handed her a cloth in a big bag, "Good morning Ma" "We'll be with you guys very soon"  Nana said pulling Morenike away and Venessa followed.

Aunt Avia and Aiyi smiled walking towards Osifo, "Aiyi? What are you doing in Lagos? I thought you were in Los Angeles" "Yes I was. The moment Morenike gave me the news, I had to fly back last night. I cant miss this, no! Not for anything in this world and besides I got an invite to Osaze's wedding this month. So I thought, I'll be killing two birds with one stone"

Osifo glanced at Osaze and Osas then at his sisters. "You all planned this?"  "Technically, Morenike did but we all supported her" Aunt Avia replied with a smile, "You've never looked more handsome"

Osifo chuckled. "Remember the first wedding? You were not happy" "Because I knew the reason you are doing it and I wasn't proud of it but this one.... This transition, this new Morenike is the main deal. That's why I can't miss it, there's a need to do the needful and I support my sister in law a thousand times"

Mrs Badmus entered into the kitchen to smell of burning chicken and a smoky kitchen. "What happened?" "I was distracted, sorry" she sneezed opening up the kitchen window and Mrs Badmus laughed staring at the chicken.

"That's one ugly looking chicken"  she said and Eniola busted out laughing with her.

"This is really hard."

"I'm sure you'll scale through"

Her phone rang, she walked up to the counter then she quickly picked it on seeing it was Folabi. "Morning Baby" she began and her mother excused her.  "Morning, where are you?" "In my new boyfriend's house" "I see, you didn't give me the memo you moved on"

"I don't know, I mean you left and I got lonely" she withheld her laughter. "I hope he's as handsome as I am"

"Even more"

"Shorter than I am"

Eniola laughed, "No one is more shorter than you are, you're my shorty, my little dwarf" "See, that's an insult cause I'm not even a dwarf," "I wish all dwarfs can look like that" she responded biting her lips. "I thought you said you've replaced me"

She giggled. "You're irreplaceable Folabi, damn you for being irreplaceable. I wake up in the morning and you're all I can think of, I miss you so much but I have to be strong for us." She confessed exhaling. "How's work?" "What work?"

"What work will I be asking of again?"

"I'm in Lagos"

"Shut up! When did you arrive?"

"Yesterday evening"

"And you couldn't tell me? Folabi, you're horrible! I could have come over to..." She trailed off. "Its obvious you don't miss me"

"I do"

"Okay.... When will you be leaving? Today? Should I even bother coming, will I see your face?"

"Yes you can, I'll drop an address"

"Didn't you lounge in the hotel?"

"Young lady, rest, I said i'll send you the address"

Morenike, dressed in a wedding gown stared into her husband's eyes, she was getting emotional, "I, Morenike Briggs take you Osifo Ighodaro to be my husband,

"To have and to hold" the officiating minister called, "To have and to hold"

"From this day forward"

"From this day forward"

"For better worst, for richer for poorer"

"For better worst, for richer" she said, "For poorer" the minister repeated and she shook her head.  "Please move on Pastor" she chipped in, Osifo chuckled.

"In sickness and in health"

"In sickness and in health"

"To love and to cherish, till death do us part"

"To love you Sifo and to cherish you till death do us part"

Everyone clapped.

Eniola knocked on a door and Folabi opened up, she walked in looking around the empty living room. "Seriously Baby, your friend can't even afford to have a chair in his sitting room" "Who said the house belongs to my friend"

"Oh. Is it like a family member's house? I get that you don't want to stay at the hotel again because of the expenses"

"Eniola, o ma n be oh (You're so quick to jump into conclusion)."

"Whose house is it, I'm out of guess. You just got back so you're out of the guess list"

Folabi laughed, "Are you sure? I had Osaze help me out with it" he replied and she stood still in shock. "Wait.... You.. I thought you said you're just visiting Lagos." "Young lady, when did I say that? Weren't you the one making assumptions?"

"Does this mean you're staying?" She asked and he gave a nod. "What changed your mind, not like I'm not excited , I won't pretend that I'm not super happy about this but.... What about your job? Your promotion"

"Yeah.... About that..... I realised a lot, everything you care about, your entire family, your siblings they're all here in Benin and you'll be awfully uncomfortable there. I won't want to put you through the stress of having to start afresh. If I know you very much, you'll be frustrated and I don't want that"

"What about you?"

"I've made friends during my stay, making more as a guy wouldn't be hard but you? I bet if you'll have one that can really understand the way you operate.  And your level of maturity lately, the fact you're willing Eniola, I can see it in your eyes you're willing to change. What more can a man ask for? Enny I love you and with this kind of effort, I see myself getting married very soon"

She bit her lower lips and he exhaled, "I know it's a small place" "Shhh, its perfect" Eniola said kissing him on the lip, their lips locked in a passionate embrace. She jumped, wrapping her legs around his waist, and he swiftly supported her with an arm around her back, and his other underneath her hips.

Akwa Ibom, Uyo.

Kubiat and Ejiro walked into Kubiat's compound. Before getting in, he showed her the garden where vegetables were planted, especially the Afang.

Mrs Bassey walked up to the both of them, "You just brought your girlfriend and straight away, you took her into the bush to get bitten by black mosquitoes"

Ejiro turned to her suddenly anxious, "Good afternoon Ma" "Good afternoon Mom" "Good afternoon dearies. Dah, Eyen ne mi a tia akpor oh! (This girl is thin)" she replied and Kubiat rolled his eyes.

"What did she say?"

"She was just speaking to me...."

"It's a lie, I said you are thin, your legs are thin but don't worry after you've given birth to your first child, I'll nuwaka (massage) you till you get fat. "She doesn't even call me my love, Raymond has always been her favourite" "That's a known fact"

"He's fine"

"And his pregnant wife?"

"Fine too"

"He'll be getting married next month"

"What are you all waiting for, i know that Obi is not even planning to date"

"Obi is dating oh, as we're even looking at it self , he might join the married team soon"

His mother laughed in disbelief. "It's a lie, please I must attend that wedding. What about Goriola?" "That one is in Abuja now... Or PH, he's not married" "I'm sure Jerry is the worst, where is he?"

"Um...." He trailed off and his mother turned to him, "What?"

Ejiro gave him a 'will you tell her' look, "Mummy, Jerry is dead" "What? When, how? I'm sure it's woman that killed him"

"How is Akwa Ibom?" Osas asked, "It's fine, Kubi's mom is..... Cool, she accepts me and she knows about my parents and we'll be staying here for a couple of days then we'll go to Warri from here. Kubi doesn't want to waste time oh. Everything is moving so fast!'

"Congrats in advance"

6:00 am

While Osaze brushed his teeth in the bathroom, Osas ran into the toilet vomiting into it. Osaze spat out then he laughed on seeing her, he rinsed his mouth then he began whistling then she rose up glaring at her.

"Wetin dey make you laugh? I no well, you dey laugh. Na the sorry way you suppose tell person be that?"

Osaze laughed again, "You're not sick, I've scored major goal that's why"  "I've scored major goal that's why" she mimicked making his laugh louder. He then dragged her to his side wrapping his arms around her waist.  "Leave me jhoor, you don give person belle, instead of make you say sorry, you dey laugh"

"Oya sorry" he answered caressing her neck and she giggled, "How long have you known?" He asked,  "I had my suspect and I'm still very much looking for my missing period. Maybe it will come back" "Trust me when I say, that period is long gone" he tickled her and she laughed.

"It might be a false alarm but the signs are there sha and I'm already feeling it already"

"Thank you for making me a father"

"The baby is not even out yet"

"I know. I feel like one already" he embraced her planting a soft kiss on her forehead. "Remember say I talk say I no wan use belle do wedding" "Our wedding is this month, no one will even notice. Mom said I should let you know that she'll be coming along to meet with the event planner today. Guess what parcel mom sent in today"

"What?"

"Keys to my old house and the old building"

"Awwwn"

"What's awwwn? I'm not accepting it"

"Why? I thought you already forgave her? It'll be bad if you don't accept it. I thought we are letting bye gones be bye gones" she asked and he exhaled thinking deeply on it.

Osas ran back into the toilet to vomit.

"Sorry"

AG event planning

Amazing handed her sketch book where she drew up, plans for the wedding to Osas, "You guys unanimously chose Burgundy and Onion pink as the color of the day. I'm thinking the decor should still be in the same color of the day, except we're adding sky blue to the whole concept to make it pop out. The cake and food will be taken care by Naija taste, they are amazing, you can check the reviews on Instagram, the_real_naija taste."

Osas cleared her throat, "If there's something I care about in any party, its food, meat and drinks"

"They won't disappoint you. You can follow them on instagram, they are like internet sensation. When you're mentioning top popular food blogs, you'll have to mention them."

"The wedding compere will be a celebrity"

Wedding what ??? Osas asked within, and Amazing flashed a smiled, "We all kmow the MC is thw life of the party. I haven't chosen which yet. I love to pick sophisticated MC's that are well familiar with the job description and are humble and respectful"

Oh, she meant MC!  it finally dawned on her. She would have asked out loud, she didn't want to embarrass Morenike.

Morenike smiled, "I want nothing short of glam, excitement, colour, class, a fairy tale wedding and I want it to be aired on television"  "That was what I wanted to discuss on, cause we also planned on inviting celebrity performance" "My brother will do it live for us"

"We'll need additional because, people are going to assume, Mrs Morenike went for the cheaper option because the bride knows the star" "She's right" "So.... we'll need to make some changes to our previous budget or we can cut some..."

"I am Morenike Briggs Ighodaro, does it look like I work with budgets? My daughter in law deserves more. Name your price"

Wedding reception

🎶Obuzi gini kam nacho nu Imana chukwu agozigomo Onyelo me you Nyelu you me What am I what am I looking for  Say my God e don bless me oh He give me you, give you me  Obuzi kaife nlacha si aso Obuzi kaife mmicha si ami My baby you know say you you go love me Adaugo adaugo (ah ah) Akwaugo akwaugo (ah ah) When I call your name shakara for me  Ro ro ro roma I go be your Romeo You go be my Juli Ro ro ro roma I go be your Romeo You go be my Juli🎶

Chike sang while Osas and Osaze made a grand entrace dancing into the reception halls while their train followed behind dancing to the music while screaming in jubilation.  The aso-ebi color for the day was burgundy and Onion pink; The bridal party were dressed in Onion pink gowns while the men wore burgundy suits and trousers.

Osaze and Osas were then guided to their king-sized seat. "Behold distinguish ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the 2020's latest couple!"  The MC announced and everyone rose up clapping while the groomsmen and bridesmaids returned back to their seat.

"Distinguish ladies and gentlemen, at this moment, I'll be calling on the Benin community to give their toast to the newly wed."

Mr Eddie walked out along with Hilda, "Good day everyone, the beautiful bride before us all, Osarieme ovbiokponwan was my very own worker, diligent to the core and I think Mr Osaze here is lucky to be getting married to a wonderful woman like her."

Hilda smiled, "Osas, I think you look beautiful"

Osas blew kisses at her and she smiled, "She was my life saver this year when I thought all was lost. Osas, you're not just a rare gem, you're a legend. The whole of Benin celebrates you, scratch that, the whole world celebrates you.   My wish is that God bless you and your marriage, amen"

"On behalf of the Benin community" Mr Eddie began opening a letter, "The bible says, he who found a wife has found a good thing and obtain favour from God. Weddings are crafted by God" he paused and Hilda continued from where he left off. "Congratulations on your wedding day. As you both begin this journey, we wish the both of you a long and happy life together as one. Fruitful years in Jesus name" and everyone chorused; Amen!

They left and the MC smiled, "See concept! I actually felt like I was in an award the only thing left was, and the winner is....." He trailed off and everyone laughed. "Well of course, we all know the winner guys, our latest couples wins it all. Let's celebrate!" He screamed and everyone clapped.

"Coming out once to toast to the newly wedded, let's welcome Mrs Morenike Briggs Ighodaro!" He called out and Morenike walked up to the stand with poise and deportment. She got a microphone flashing a smile at the Bride and Groom then at everyone.

"I might have to correct that impression Mr MC, the name is Barrister Morenike Briggs Ighodaro, thank you very much." She smiled at Osas, "I don't even know where to start, " I wrote a whole speech in a piece of a paper but I ended up leaving it in my bag because I want to say this from my heart now because I had it rehearsed. Truly he that finds a wife finds a good thing, Osaze, my love, you've found a good thing, a good treasure, an asset. A good treasure is a good investment and a good investment yields profit, I've always been a business woman so let's talk business!" She paused and everyone clapped.

"At first, at first I didn't like her, If I'm being honest, I thought she wasn't good enough, I thought she was a village girl. She couldn't even speak proper English, the truth is deep down I knew she was a good person but I was too arrogant and proud to admit it. I realize every other girls probably pass through this and their mother-in-law probably gives them tough times like I gave my beautiful daughter-in-law here"  she paused wiping her tears off and Osas chuckled blinking back her tears.

"Every mother in law knows a good woman when they see one, if you feel like the woman your son is getting married to is a village woman, make her into what you want like my son did. The road side chips is just as good if not better than the ones sold in big time shopping malls, what makes the difference is the packaging. Thank you for Packaging Osas, Osaze, God bless you richly for this. In my entire life, I have never met a woman with so much resilience like her. She's humble, strong, wise, she speaks and her words stick deep into you.  I'm sure everyone will agree when i say you two were made for each other."  She paused kneeling down and everyone gasped.

"I'm not the prayer type but I'm definitely about to take this to Church"  she knelt down and Osas knelt down too, she gave Osaze a look and he knelt down to.

"I want to take this very moment to say this word of prayer. I wish the both of you love and happiness that never dies"

"Amen!" The whole house chorused.

"Peace in your home"

"Amen"

"May this marriage bring untold blessings."

"May you two grow old in marriage, your children and grandchildren will celebrate you both in marriage"

"Amen"

"I can't wait to see my grandchildren too" she added rising up and everyone chuckled.

Morenike walked back to her seat,  The MC took over, "An applause for Barrister Morenike Briggs Ighodaro, apologies for the error on my part Ma. That was a good Ma, did you guys notice what the bride did after she knelt down. She gave her husband that familiar women look, 'Oga if you no kneel, I go vex oh' look. The man just had to submit." He laughed and everyone laughed too.

"It's the moment we've been waiting for, the moment for the couples to have their first dance. This is the groom's favourite song, according to him, the song was what he requested for one their unofficial engagement party"

Johnny Drille's Romeo and Juliet played.

Osaze rose up stretching her hands at her. Osas rose up, hoping she remembers everything she learned about slow dancing. He led her onto the floor.

"Can I get your autograph?" Favor who was dressed in a wine gown asked Chike who was seated drinking wine.  "Sure? Where?" "My gele" she answered handing a pen to him, "What if it gets ruined"

"I promise not to pin it on you" she replied and he laughed receiving the pen then he rose up carefully signing on it.

"Thanks, I love your songs, I think you have an amazing voice"

He smiled, "Thanks" he replied returning the pen, he was beginning to get used to the attention from being a fine boy and one of the rising music artiste in the country.

Favour walked away and Tacha sat close to him. "Can I get an autograph too?" She asked and he smiled, "I shouldn't be smiling. I should be angry" he gulped the drink, "Very angry"

"And I deserve the anger, even more. You don't drink" "Change is constant Tacha." He snapped and she exhaled, "I'm surprised you're alone"  "What did you expect me to do?"

"Move on, come with a date, you're a star"

"Well I'm trying to, I'm not really in the mood to date anyone for now"

"What about me?"

"Even you. I've had more heart break, one more and I'll break completely."

Tacha laughed, "Ouch." She replied and he chuckled, "What about your Yemi, the radio presenter?"

"She's a friend"

"She could have been a perfect date. The girl that just spoke to you, she's fine"

"No one deserves to be a rebound, I'll heal eventually but first..... I want to concentrate on my career and You? How was it over there? Have you found yourself yet?"

She shook her head. "I still have a long way to go". Chike poured himself and Tacha another glass of wine. "Let's toast to the many hurdles we're yet to cross." "To a long way to go" she added and he clinked glasses with her.

"To a long way to go"

Chika walked up to a chair, she watched Ejiro chatting away with Kubiat and then Omo and Obinna.  Loneliness finally dawned on her then she exhaled bringing out her phone to take a short video. "It's your igbo girl Chika with the double e, if you still want to get hairs and make up kits, you can order oh. It's my girl's day so I'm not giving up the day for anything but I'm still open for business. So, it's still my girl's day and guys I'm lonely as Fuck, i'm obviously looking for my plus one" she groaned.

"See as i fine, as i set like this even labour market they reject me. I don't know guys, is it that I'm not attractive? I know  I talk a lot! Most times out of turns but I'm a life of the party, everyone knows that." She hissed.

"I don't know, I don't even know again, the matter come taya me finish. Look at all the instagram make up on my face, my super gele! Makachukwu, I'm still owing Freida for it oh, see as I'm  looking lit and no single guy is even looking at me.They say people find love in weddings..." She scoffed rolling her eyes.

"Chika what are you doing? Your sound like a desperate idiot, the video sef no suppose long like this" she hissed stopping the video.

"Oya delete"

"You're wrong" she heard a voice say, she looked up seeing Goriola. "You" "Yes" "What am I wrong about?" "What you said earlier on"

"Jesus! Eavesdrops much?"

"I saw you walk down here, I sat down and you didn't even notice, apparently, you were lost in your problems"

"Are you cursing me ni? I don't have a problem, the only problem I'll have ja with you if you don't leave"

Goriola scoffed, "Look at my Instagram make up, makachuckwu I'm still owning Freida for it" "Shit... How much did you hear?" "Let's say I heard the part I needed to hear to make my conclusion"

"That what? You can't conclude on me yet, it's the wedding mood and you know, right from the time of John the baptist, wedding makes single ladies emotional. Don't make conclusions on my emotional state abeg"

Goriola laughed, "You were asking if you weren't attractive to be asked out, you want my honest review?" "Aproko, no. Before you say something bad" "It's not bad" "I no wan hear" "You might actually want to hear" "I don't think I want to"

"You're attractive" he blurted out and a smile curled up her lips, "No be say I get interest but.... Continue"

"Maybe you're too attractive and they're feeling intimidated with all the Instagram make up and gele you haven't paid for" he replied and she laughed. "I paid for half of it, but guy? Is that the only thing you picked?" She covered her face with her palms in embarrassment.

She took the palm off rolling her eyes. "Well.... No girl loves her man feeling intimidated, a real man will walk up to me and ask me for a dance straight away, no short cuts, no gimmicks."  "Do you wanna dance?" He asked and she scoffed.

"Wait....." She trailed off, "I noticed you look familiar, I've been staring since the whole party started, I think your gbese moves are a killer"

Chika laughed. "You just saw a tip of the iceberg, is it my zanku or my poco move?" "Do you want to have this dance with me? I can be your plus one" He requested and she shook her head then he nodded in understanding, "I guess you're familiar with the rape"

She shook her head in disagreement, "That wasn't why, see, I know you're a playboy, not only that, I know you like Osas that time like die, remember you bought me with five thousand naira the other day when i was outside making a client's hair"

He laughed again. "Now I know why your face looked familiar. Wow, you do look different" "Yes I do, i owe most of it to the make up. Oga see ehn, you fine, you set, you rich, my three most important feature in any man when I wasn't mature but now, no be say I don mature like that but...  I've had experience with bad guys, if you think I'm swoon, say I go just fall, open leg, you're wrong, but..... A little dance has never killed anyone so.." She shrugged then he rose up stretching his hands at her.

Osaze and Osas swayed to the slow sensual music, they held each other close. He kissed her on the neck, and wrapping his arms tightly around her he looked into her face and she blushed.  "Wetin? Make up too much"

"You're beautiful"

"Tell me something I don't know"

"I feel like I just fell in love with you. Yesterday I fell in love with you, today I'm still falling in love with you and I seriously don't know how you manage to make me fall in love with all of you"

"I don witch you" she replied and he laughed.

"Truly! I hope that charm doesn't stop working"

"This charm does not have expiry date. God no go gree" she replied and held her tightly, "Osarieme, Osas love, Osas Baby, my love, my Baby" "Okay what's going on? Which Kain mumu pet name be that?"

" I just wanted to say that I love you Babe" "Awwwn, Osaze, Osazito, Bengee Boo, Ben Baby"

Osaze laughed, "I get your point, just say I love you too and we can pretend I didn't rack my brains to deliver that" "I love you too Babe"

He kissed her on the cheek then he made way slowly to her sweet lips. She kissed him back, deeply. "Thank you for getting married to one of the most difficult man in the world" "Don't worry, I have all the apparatus to treat your fuck up" she replied and he laughed.

"Osaze and Osas forever?"

"Osas and Osas, always and forever"
