Nana held Osaze's hands to a corner then she turned back at Osas who was laughing with the ladies. She has been so fascinated with the whole event, she was still in shock from all the coincidence. "Ah, she's fine! Your mother does not have eyes, I don't even know what she has sef?"

"Mom is selfish, she doesn't think of anyone but herself"

"And her children, don't say that oh. I can argue that with you, you guys are all she thinks of" "Let's not talk about her"

"When should we be expecting a wedding?"

"After Chief Akinola pays for his crime" "Ah! Osaze, you'll go to court?" "I will" "That'll be against the firm, if it won't be your mom taking the case" "May the best lawyer win, her words, not mine"

"Omo mi, this will really create a rift more than there already is"

"At first, Osas escaped being raped by him and biw she escapes being killed and you ask me to what fold my hands and do nothing? He'll pay for his crimes, they'll all pay!"

"What class are you in?" Chike asked Osato and he smiled, "Im going to SS1 "You're fifteen years ago, you should be done with school" "Sometimes when you miss school because of school fees, the teachers will now have to tell you to repeat"

"I'm sorry" He apologised and Osato wondered why, "Why?" "I don't know. I'm sorry you went through this"

"Like Aunty Osas go talk, a part of life, we use it to gain experience" he answered and Chike smiled. "If you both have any question as guys, questions you want to ask, feel free to call me" he brought out a smaller phone from his pocket then he handed it to Osato.

"For us?" Osato asked and Zuwa smiled hugging him. "Thank you" Osato bowed his head with a smile. "I'll talk to Osas about making you guys seat for promotional exams, if you guys remain this way, you'll be graduating when your peers are in the university"

"Brother wetin you dey work as?"

"Yes like Davido" "But you never blow yet" Zuwa asked and Chike laughed. "Yeah"/" No worry, you go blow. We fit listen to your song?"

"Sure" he replied checking through his phone, the moment he found it, he gave them his phone and ear piece.

"Where's Tacha?" He asked scattering his eyes around, "I being see when she.... No worry, I go find am" he volunteered leaving the room. 

While Osifo talked to Mr and Mrs Nwosu, Nana raised her finger up, "Permit me to steal this man for a minute" she added holding him away. "Your attention is needed back home oh" Nana said to him and he scoffed.

"What attention?"

"Morenike"

"That woman hasn't given me attention in years when there are other people out there that are willing to show me love and I'm fed up"

"Ah! Does that mean you're not coming back home?" "Not yet"

"Is there someone else?  She asked and he kept quiet. Nana smiled in understanding. "Since when?"  "I just met her" "The one your wife saw this morning?"

"How?"

"She told me. She was jealous"

"Lies! She doesn't even care, I even thought she came in because she missed me but it turns out she only needed me to resume work. I'm sure the work load must be up to her neck already"  he pressed his neck and Nana laughed at how well he knew his wife.
"The load is really heavy" "So I'm her burden carrier shey? I have endured Morenike for too long and I know her in and out"

"Out? Yes you do but in? I don't think you do"

"What's there not to know about the most heartless woman in the world! She doesn't even care about anyone but herself, not me, not the children"

"She does"

"What about our happiness? I want to be happy but does she care about that?" "A woman cannot give what she doesn't have" "All I've done my entire life married to her is try to make her happy and satisfied! All she has ever done is make me an unhappy man"

"Then whose fault is it?" He asked but she hesitated. "There you go again, how long do you think you can keep on being there for Morenike? How long will you bear excesses? You have your family"

"And no children! I see Morenike as my own and the truth is,no matter how I want to, its hard. I can't leave her just yet, she's saner that way. She'll just go crazy"

"Crazier than she is already?"

Nana exhaled bowing her head, if only they knew!

Obianuju opened the toilet looking at Tacha,"This is the toilet" she said and Tacha smiled. "Thanks" she replied and Obianuju closed the door slightly and she smiled walking towards the toilet seat where she flushed the toilet.

Suddenly she brought out a nylon, her hands were seriously trembling, the need to take coke, almost drove her crazy! She poured the drugs on her palm suddenly she sniffle it and then she sat on the floor shutting her eyes in euphoria.

"Oh my" she muttered and Zuwa pushed the door open seeing her on the floor but she was oblivious of what was happening. The scenario looked familiar so he carefully walked out of the toilet back to Chike and Osato.

"Zuwa, come hear the song, e sweet die!"

"Have you seen Tacha?"

"Yes. She dey toilet" "Okay" he replied then he noticed puzzled look on his face. "What's the matter?" He asked and Zuwa shrugged, "Is there anything you want to tell me?" He asked and Zuwa turned towards Osato busting into Bini knowing fully well Chike won't understand, "Do you remember the way Sister Mudia always do when she's high?"

"Yes...."

"Okay what's going on?"

Kelechi entered into Dickson's office, "Aren't you suppose to be off to Anambra by now?" "I postponed my journey" "I've been calling your number since yesterday" "It's been switched off, I'm just trying to get some people off my back" he replied and Dickson shook his head knowing very well, he wasn't referring to girls so he rose up walking close to him.

"For good two days? Kelechi, are you in trouble?"

"You know that I'm always in trouble now"

He slapped Kelechi on the head, "You're stupid, is it me you're giving that kind of reply? If not for your late father, I swear i would have had you six feet by now!onye nsogbu (Trouble maker!) I hope you haven't been caught by the police"

"No!" He frowned, "Even if you do, KC, if my name venture commot for your mouth ehn, I swear, I'll kill you before you even enter prison" "It's not the police, its just all these street guys now"

"I just dey warn you cause I'll kill you for real, blood or not!" He answered then he returned back to his seat, "Why did you tell Chike that I'm not his father?" "Boss, he was acting as if the house belonged to him....." He trailed off then he looked away rubbing his nose.

"Sorry Sir"

"The second thing I wanted to warn you about before coming here,Davina is really mad at you. She's not here at the moment, she's probably crying at home, you're dead meat if she sees you so I'll advise you leave town completely, E nu go? (Have you heard me?), "A nu gom" he answered and Dickson sighed.

"Bar or beer parlour is a place where most people just comes out to pour their heart, like you're doing now. It's different from a club, a club is a bigger version of it. You should go home and rest"

"Because you didn't do the right thing. I promised myself that I won't say this but its been eating me up Uyi" "What?" "I told you so" he answered and she hissed rolling her eyes. 

"Do the right thing, only then will you be at peace with yourself"

Madam Davina shrugged, "I don't know" "I can help you talk to your boy, we'll speak, man to man"

"He won't listen"

"This is men's business, I'm sure he will"

Osaze sat in bed while Osas climbed on him. "Hey babe" "Hey" "My joy this evening, I can't.... I can't put it in words." "I didn't do anything, Tasha called me and then I called Raymond so we fixed up the whole thing.

"Thank you. Now there's only Uwa left, and I know we'll find her!" She replied and he nodded. "Definitely. Osarieme?" "Huh?" "Remember you've always wanted to be a doctor...."

"Yeah....?"

"I don't know if your dreams have changed"

"I would love to but time don go, I'm 31, I will thirty two next year. Which time I go get go school, take care of my children and then come go NYSC?" She asked and Osaze laughed. "Who's asking you to go for NYSC?"

"So you're going to let your dreams die?"

"You delivered a baby in a bus with so much expertise that even the doctor commended you" "I do find joy in it, maybe na because say na family curse, first born females dey always follow the trail"

"Its passion and if you still have it, I'm willing to help you"

"What! That'll be too much! You said you'll take care of Osato and Zuwa's fees, me too, now school, Have you forgotten I have no job?"

"I'm not asking you to contribute a dime"

"It's what i would have done years ago and I still want to do it, don't let your passion die"

Osas exhaled, "You own a foundation that gives and render help to the needy. How you dey make money?" She asked and he laughed. "Wait. .. So because of I.... I'm supposed to be broke. I have government assistance too along side my consulting job,I don't do free jobs for everyone, I'm representing other people and  few company  and I have lawyers under me also representing so don't think for a second that I'm broke"

Osas chuckled, "So.... I go come start school again?" "Jamb or pre-degree" "I go come go tutorials, Old woman for Jamb class" "Osaze laughed. "That's funny. I'll hire a private tutor"

"The man better fine" "It'll be a woman" "The woman better ugly" she replied laughing and he joined her. "Just kidding" "I know. Is that a yes"

"Yes. Let's just start a movie, we'll title it, Osas goes to school"

Osifo knocked on Tiffany's door and she answered from inside the house the third time he knocked. "Who is it?" "Its me" he answered and she opened up with speed.

She had just a white nightie on, "What's going on? Are you okay?" She asked, "Can I come in? I need to talk to someone" "Sure" she replied inviting him in.

She grinned before locking up the door after which she tugged her gown down revealing more cleavages.  "I'm sorry if I woke you up" "I wasn't fully asleep, I haven't even slept for up to twenty minutes"

"I'm sorry for the disturbance still"

Tiffany moved closer to him, "There's no point, I mean, anything for you" she replied and he shut his eyes in tears. "What's going on? Don't scare me" "I feel the need to vent and the right person to vent to should be Morenike but I can't, whenever I vent, we just always end up making up and I'm not sure I want it again"

"Okay...."

"I don't want to return back to being unhappy" "I can make you happy and you know it. Why don't you...." she lifted up his hands running it around her body, " give me a try?" His hands landed on her breast and he took them off.

"I like you" she looked up at him, 'I know you dont want to cheat on your wife, Why don't you give me a try, let me give you reasons why you should file for a divorce?Just a chance" she requested kissing him on the lips and he returned the kiss after a while.

Nana walked into the sitting room, she found Morenike sleeping in the sitting room so she went up into her room where she got a duvet spreading on her body.

Morenike opened her eyes, "Osifo?" She called out and Nana hissed, "So you can call his name in your sleep?" "Whose name did I call?" "Are you asking me?" "I was just having the best dream, our family wasn't separated...." She began and Nana smiled.

"Osaze was married to Eniola, Vera pregnant but the man beside him was Senator Clinton's son and Tacha was with senator Sani's son.  Remember Senator Clinton?"

"It's not only Senator Clinton, its Senator Washington. Morenike ki lo n se e gan? (What's wrong with you?) Can this be normal? Your children are happy where they are, I wish you were there at the engagement and reunion party, you'll be so proud of your children!"

"Reunion?"

"Yes! It's the wonders of God! Your son's girlfriend has reunited with her siblings after years of being apart! It was so beautiful! And its God and that girl's head that catch you! Vera was glowing as if she will give birth tomorrow, Osaze was smiling all through, Tacha nko was with her boyfriend"

"What Boyfriend?"

"Her boyfriend of course! Yes I said it! I don't know what's there to hide, what is she hiding? You daughter is in love with that boy and he makes her happy and he even sings beautifully"

Morenike shut her eyes, "I swear I'll kill him" "You had better not give yourself a heart attack" Nana replied walking away and tears rolled down Morenike eyes and she looked up to the ceiling as though looking up to God himself,  "What the hell is going on?"

Tacha wrapped her hands around Chike, "I just want to appreciate you for helping me out. I have the best sisters in the world and I never knew about it" "It's the least I could do" she answered kissing him but he stopped her.

"Do you have anything you want to tell me about?" He asked and she shrugged, "Like?" "I don't know, Mom hide a secret from me and I'm just kind of messed up right now. I just want to know if you're...."

Tacha moved her lips to speak but nothing came out. Her new drug addiction crossed her mind but she couldn't bring herself down to talk about it. "Nothing" "No secrets?"

"None. Let me go freshen up, I'll be back in a giffy" she unbuttoned her shirts while giving him a flirty look. She winked at him and he chuckled. She was now left with her bra and skirt which she pulled down slowly then she whisper, "I'll be back" she added leaving and he stared at her bag which was on the bed recalling Zuwa's suspicion about her using hard drugs,and when he found Tacha speaking to Kelechi the other night.

Oh God! It can't be!

He just couldn't fight off the temptation of looking into the bag, he needed to make his own confirmation. He unzipped the bag and in it she found her make up bag along her phone, underneath was a white powdery substance.

Chike swallowed hard then he shut his eyes painfully.

These questions rang in his head until Tacha's voice from the bathroom interrupted him and he moved away from the bag. "Do you know the best thing about tonight?" She asked walking out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her waist.

"The best thing about tonight is that I can lie to Mom about where I spent my night and she'll believe!" She threw her hands on him and her smily face met a frowny one.

"No secrets huh?" He asked and she frowned, she was beginning to find his doubtfulness quite irritating!"Yes. Why are we still dwelling on this?"

"How do you explain this?" He raised the cocaine up and she pulled away. "Boo, I can explain" "Explain what exactly?" He asked, "You had the chance to and you blew it! Tacha you lied! You told me there was no secret"

Tacha cried, "How was I going to tell you that I've been using drugs" "Why? When did it start?" He asked and she bowed her head. "I can't tell you" "Why? I thought you're supposed to be in love with me, we're supposed to share things. Tacha, I didn't even give my Mom the chance to speak but I'm giving you one. Why are you doing drugs?"

"It makes me forget"

"Forget what?" He asked and she kept quiet. "Tacha!" "It makes me feel okay too" "How long?"

"Three weeks"

"Kelechi right?So he has been your dealer for three weeks? Was that why you were talking to him that day? When I was talking about our I hated drugs, I was just making a fool of myself"

"No! Actually... I got his contact that day"

"Who was your first contact?" He asked and she stalled from answering,not all the drugs she has used came from Kelechi, her first was gotten the night she got raped! How was she going to tell him? Was it even the right time? Was he ready to hear that?

"It was from a girl called Jasmine, she told me what it'll do and it was exactly what I wanted! I'm not over doing it!" "And that makes you happy? Tacha, an addiction is an addiction! Drug is bad! I've seen lives destroy from it! Does your family know?"

"No! Please don't tell them! Please?"

"You can't do it again, I'm going to give you what I didn't give Mom, a chance and I'm going to give you a chance to make a damn good choice" he raised the cocaine up.

"I know you feel like it makes you care less about your problems, its just a deception to make you waste money! Trust me when I say this, I've been with a drug dealer my whole life! Its not worth it! What is it going to be Tacha, me or the drugs?" He asked and she walked towards him.

"You baby, it's you" she replied kissing him and he smiled raising the drugs up, "Let's go flush this down the toilet then"

"Hmm hm" she replied with a half smile, "Hey" he called out on noticing she wasn't too thrilled, "Its just three weeks, we'll work through it together"

5:45 am

Tacha snuck into the dark sitting room until her mother flipped the switch turning the lights back on. "Mom?" She asked and Morenike frowned, "Where are you coming from?" "Huh.  .... I slept over at Mr and Mrs Nwosu's house"

"Mr and Mrs what?" She asked, "Its where we had the engagement party"

"I'll give you a second to tell me the truth where you spent your night and you better not lie to me" she moved closer and Tacha felt her legs wobble. "I spent it at Mr and Mrs.."

A slap landed on her face and she groaned in pain. "Mom!" "You dare look into my eyes and lie to me! You think I don't know you're dating that common musician?"

"Chike is not common!" She yelled and Morenike slapped her again and she whimpered rubbing her cheek. "You know what mom? I'm tired!" She yelled making her mother flinched! She feared the same rebellion she faced with Osaze and Vera was about to play out.

She didn't do anything about it then but she can't afford to fold her hands and watch Tacha join the same train!

No!

Tears poured down Tacha's eyes and she sniffled running her hands through her hair. "Everything is do is for you, I studied law for you, I even dated Denrele for you! You know what I'm going to do now Mom?" She asked and Morenike placed her hands on her chest, immediately falling to the ground and Tacha gazed in horror.

"Mom!" She yelled.

Mathias knocked on Chike's door and he opened. "Good morning" he greeted him with a smile, "Good morning Sir" "I know you must be wondering, who is this strange looking man. My name is Mathias"

"You're Mom's friend, I know" he answered and Mathias laughed. "Can I come in?" "I don't feel like talking about her"

"Who said I want to talk about her? I came to talk about you"

Chike blinked his eyes in confusion, "I... I don't understand" "Can you at least let me in" Mathias requested and he did. "Have your seat" he pointed at a one seater chair and Mathias took his seat smiling at him.

"You were quite the crier as a baby" he said and this drew Chike's interest. "You knew me as a baby?"

"Your mother and I, I meant your real mother Ese, we lived in the same environment, her street was just close to mine." "How was she like?"

"Sweet, Ese was sweet and soft, always as been, she doesn't cause trouble that's one trait I liked in her. Not once have I heard that something happened and Ese was the cause. She was a mid wife and she made herbs, there was this time I had pile...." He trailed off laughing.

"She was a miracle worker but I knew she wouldn't make it. She was too soft, she some times do things for free. I'm one of the guilty party sef. Its like I'm still owing her 5 naira from 1994" he answered and Chike laughed softly.

"Your mother Uyi"

"She's not my. .."

"Calm down boy, let me land"

"She came to me one time because she wanted someone to pose as her husband so she could travel with the three of you, Edosa, Uwa and you Efe. You kept on crying and crying, people shouted and shouted for Uyi to breast feed you and she did, that was the only time you kept quiet and also in my arms too" he replied with a smile.

"The days I spent with you were one of my best,we got used to you, your mother and i, I felt like a father and we had plans to take you as our son until your father came. I was so in love with that woman! I'm still very much in love with her, I won't deny that!" He exhaled.

"Are you married?"

"No"

"Divorced?"

"No"

"Children?" "None"

"Why?"

"Because the only person I wanted to have that legacy with was clutched in the arms of a gangster. Its crazy but I don't care, you were always my first son" he confessed blinking back his tears and Chike took his seat.

Mathias sniffled, "Look at this old man getting all emotional." He said with a smile and Chike smiled back. "Call me an hopeless romantic but it's one of the things a man can do for the woman he loves. Uyi might look hard on the surface but there one family weakness I feel they all have, they're quite emotional"

Chike scoffed, "I expected that but that's the truth. She's soft inside, you just have to understand her" "She lied to me my whole life" "Your adoptive father shot me and keft me for dead because of her. Hey, like I said I didn't come to talk about her, what she did was bad and you have the right to be angry with you. Just know she did it out of love and fear of losing you."

"And will you explain Osas and Obianuju, they begged her"

"Your mom is greedy too, very greedy! She has a lot of bad characteristics. She can be heartless but she has her weaknesses, it wasn't easy for her giving you all out"

Osas' phone rang during breakfast and she lifted her hands up before picking up as though she wanted permission from Osaze. "Its fine" he answered.

"Good morning"

"Finally! Ah! Abeg where you carry phone throway?" I made asked, "My phone being lost, I no wan go into details before the whole Benin go hear" "Wetin we never hear? Something way everybody dey talk about. Osas how e reach that level? I for no allow you go Mama Justice place, I dey regret"

"Calm down. No too regret, everything happen for particular reason. I don't come accept am. How far, how you dey?" "I just dey oh, I do dey small hustle. You know how I dey do things now, you sef, how life?" She asked and Osas blushed.

"I don find Edosa and Efe"

"You mean am? How you take know? You run DNA test?"

"No. Na very long story oh,no be phone talk sef but we don find Aunty Uyi"

"You mean am? Wetin happen way she no come your Mumcy burial? You don ask her?" "We dey vex for her. She na the same person way I being work for, the first real job way I get na there she get am"

"Osanobuame! See film trick!" "E pass film trick! Like I say, no be talk for phone. Maybe one day when I come Benin, we go sit down gist"

"Na wa oh. You get her number make I chook small abuse join give her?"

"Abegi! Imade, i dey engaged"

"For where? For work?"

"No now! I dey engaged,like my boyfriend don't propose" "Osano.... Osas! When? Which time you get boyfriend way him go come propose?" "Well... It's kind of complicated" she replied and I made laughed.

"Shuu? See levels, Na me you dey follow yarn for English! God is good!"

"Na people like una no make me sabi speak English all these years. You don't call now, I no even remember how to speak English again" she answered and Osaze laughed and his phone rang too.

"Excuse me" he walked away from her since her voice was loud.

"Na rich guy?"

"Na you know"

"Tell your husband say you get greedy uncles  them for here, them both send for you but then ready to chop bride price"  "I hear, marriage no dey come yet"

"No allow am chop you Belleful oh,later him go come say, I don't like you anymore, you are not educated"

Osas laughed, "No be that kain person. I don miss you oh" "Me sef. How far, that your Papa friend don con call you?" She asked and Osas shook her head. "No. I'm sure he's not interested" "You number being dey off now"

"My number has been available for two days now. Abeg, the man no dey interested, I no wan give myself hope. I'm happy with seeing Edosa and Efe. Na Uwa remain and I no want get hope for the man way abandon us"

"But this Matthew guy being dey serious oh"

"Abeg!"

"Its okay now, make I end the call so, this call don long pass as I take plan. Osas, you can talk oh!" She accused and Osas laughed. "I no get work for now but no worry, I go send you something" she answered lifting her head at Osaze who suddenly seemed worried. 

"I go call you back" she ended the call, "Are you okay?" "Huh .... Yeah.. Tacha just called, Mom had an heart attack"

Hospital lobby

Tacha hugged his father on seeing him, "What happened?" "Mom had an heart attack. I wasn't supposed to tell anyone but it looked so serious"  "What happened?" "It's my fault, u was having an argument with her"

"I already told you, its not your fault" Vera rose up from her seat, "Having arguments with Mom is totally normal" she added and Tacha pulled away from her father.

"I feel like it's my fault"

"She's going to be fine" Osifo answered.

"There are no signs of heart attack" The doctor said to Morenike, "They don't have to know that" she answered and he scoffed, "Ah, Morenike! You're becoming like your father everyday"

"I hear the same thing everytime! Don't  compare me to him in this context, you think I'm sneaky or inconsiderate? My father was worst and you knew it!" "Must you then tread in the same path as him? You had a second chance after your father died to do things differently!"

Morenike cried, "I'm trying to do what's best for them! What if it was for the best? Everything my father did?" "Like I will always say, reconcile with yourself first or the real heart attack will kill you"

Osifo walked in with Nana and Morenike tried hard to conceal her joy from seeing him. "Doctor good morning, how is she?" He asked, not not directing the question at her.
"As you can see, she's fine"

"So it took an heart attack to come see me"

"When did you start having heart attacks?" he asked and Nana moved close to her. "Years ago" "Why didn't I find out?"

"Cause it wasn't necessary"

"As your husband? Morenike, what do you take me for?" "A man who signed a deal to marry me so I can have my wealth" she snapped and he nodded.

"Thank you for clarifying that Ma" he answered and she shut her eyes in regret, why will she even say such a thing?

Nana closely observed her, "Morenike,look at you running your mouth, you're not even speaking as though you're sick" she snapped and they both noticed her silence.

"Oh God!" Osifo gasped, "There was no heart attack right?" He asked turning towards the doctor, "You lied" "I simply said the truth, I said she's okay." He answered giving Morenike a look.

"So it's all a lie? Our children are out there"

"Our children?"

"Yes, Osaze, Vera and Tacha.... How could you?" He asked and Tacha walked in with Vera and Morenike felt her heart flutter on seeing the both of them. "Where's Osaze?" "He breezed in and out"

"She's okay now, at least she's not dead. I have done my quota, i can go now" Vera turned her back to leave and Morenike called her back.

"You'll leave your Mother who just suffered a heart attack?" She asked and Vera glanced at her. "The only reason I came was because Philip forced me and to fulfil all righteousness. So goodbye Mrs Briggs" she answered leaving and the Morenike felt tears build up in her eyes.

"I'll like to be left alone with Tacha, please everyone leave!" She demanded and they all went out of the room.

"What's always wrong with Morenike?" Osifo asked and Nana shrugged, "In this case, if you ask me, na who I go ask?"

After they all left, Morenike let her tears flow down, "Mom, don't cry. You might just worsen the whole thing"

"All my children are going rogue on me. All I want is the best for them" "Mom sometimes, we have things that we feel are best for us too"

"Things that'll only break my heart into pieces. My heart attack began when Osaze went rogue and every day I suffer the worst knowing my children only do the opposite of what I ask them to do. All I ask is for you to leave that boy, nothing will make me happier. Promise me you will, Tacha promise me" she held on her daughter's palm and she squeezed it.

"I promise"
