Chapter 32

Unedited

Obianuju kicked her shoes off sitting on the bed and Raymond moved behind her, knelt down massaging her. "I take you're tired" "Of course I am, how was work?" "It was fine, there was thus fight during the board meeting today." Raymond laughed, "Let me guess, it was the chairman who caused it"

"Who else? He insulted one of the investors and I had to be the mediator! Mehn, very annoying! Turns out they're friends, see abuses and secrets spilling, I no fit laugh" he explained and she chuckled.

"What's that your chairman's own set?"

"You dey ask me? And you?How was your day? Another sister time with Osas, I hope you guys won't be using our weekends to do catch up" he added with a hint of jealousy and Obianuju laughed.

"Are you jealous?" She asked and he smile, "Yes I am. So how was your day?" "It was great, I made another friend today, one of Osas' friend, Chika. She's a combination of funny and crazy. It was a fun day and you know my days are usually all about work work, work!"

Raymond blinked, "I'm shocked" "She's one of those loud cha cha cha girls but she made the whole thing fun and she didn't keep quiet for a minute" "For someone who had been without friends for a long time" "Because I always believe they'll leave. I guess my ideology is gradually changing. I have my sister, even though not all of my siblings. I'm just really happy, the only thing left is....." She trailed off and Raymond exhaled, "It'll come at its own time."

"I promised that I won't talk about it and now I am. I'm sorry"

"Shhhh" he responded biting her earlobes and she chuckled.

Kubiat looked around the club in search for Chike then he walked towards. Then he sighted Ejiro serving drinks so he made way towards her.

A guy held Ejiro by the arm and she raised a disapproving brow at him, "Excuse you? Please, let go of my hand" she requested, "Na you be the Ejiro right?" "He asked and she hesitated in answering the question.

"Why you dey ask?"

"You dey whine me? I dey ask you question, you dey throw me question back. She I na you be that Osas friend, we don't stop for your house taya, shebi you dey carry us play abi?" He asked and She tried to get away from his grip.

"Please let go of me"

"You never answer my question"

"Is there any problem here?" He asked and the guy shot him a look. "Abeg Oga police, mind your business. I dey ask this babe question and she dey feel like boss"

So he knows who I am? Kubiat said within then he scoffed."I won't repeat myself again" he chipped, then he punched him in the face holding Ejiro away.

"What does he want?"

"He wants to know if I'm Osas' friend Ejiro. Now I'm worried, how will I avoid this people?"  "I'll work you home"

"I don't dismiss until 11, sometimes I stay up till 12"

"You need police protection, it's necessary someone walks you home. Do you see any other person around? No, I'll stick around in case anyone tries anything" he winked at her and she chuckled.

"Thank you" she responded, she felt secured already.

Aunt Avia walked into the sitting room where Osifo was watching news, she had a worried look on her face. "I just got off the phone with Charles" "Ah, how is he?" "He's doing great, his wife was involved in an accident this afternoon, there they found out she's two months gone"  "So you're going to be a grandma" he added and she gave a faint smile.

"Yes but I'm worried about her, I'll be travelling to Benin, very early in the morning. I hope you'll be fine" "Of course I'll be"

"I don't know how long I'll be gone for."

"I'll be fine. Don't worry about me"

Aunt Avia laughed, "I never thought I'll see the day when you'll leave Morenike for a week" "I'm still angry with her and she hasn't even called to apologize. Which is the most painful part"

Dinner date was great, Osas couldn't stop smiling all through the drive back home. After they got into the house, she folded her hands now biting her lips. "Thank you" she said to him and he arced his brow.

"For what?"

"Today is one of the happiest day of my life, from the hospital, from seeing that baby to MTN office even though there it was stressful, to the shopping, to the date, to this very moment we're standing "

"Really? Its your happiest day?"

"Yes" she replied in tears, "Well, I was excited when we started dating but not like this, my life has been filled with a lot of.... What's that word again, tragedy and for the first time in a long time, I feel so happy that  my problems don't even matter so yes, its the happiest day of my life"

Osaze blinked his tears in, " I haven't done anything" "You being here is more than enough" she answered and he quickly reached for a box from his trousers opening it to reveal a diamond ring inside of it.

"Osarieme,if you say this is the happiest day of your life, let me do this today then. I want to live the rest of my life making your day memorable, making each and everyday count. I love you and I wish you will marry me, there's no other woman I want other than you Babe" he confessed and she stood still in shock.

"Osaze....." She trailed off and he instantly went on his knees. "Will you marry me?" "Osaze..." "What? Is it too early? Should I wait?"

"No. You mean an for real abi na guilty conscience dey worry you?" She asked and he exhaled rising up, "Raymond said the same thing" "Exactly, its necessary to know and I remember what you said to my brother. You told him something about making up for the hurt you've cause. I don't want that, Osaze if I wan marry you, I wan dey sure no deal do am out of guilt"

"Osas I feel guilty, I still feel guilty for everything" he cried, "But my being with you isn't because of the guilt. Osarieme, I love you from the bottom of my heart. I'm in love with every part of you, the talkative, the loud part, the wise part, the amazingly nice part even the village side of you" he chipped in and she chuckled.

"This might sound cliché Babe, but i want to be the shoulder you lean on, the one who you look up to. The one to take care of you and your family and do you right every day of your life, I want to live every day of my life spoiling you, not because I feel guilty for hurting you years ago but because I love you Osas, I really love you"

"I love you too" she replied stretching her fingers at him, "Make I just see if the ring na my size sha" she answered and he chuckled. "And that's Bini for yes" she added and he moved his lips closer to hers.

"I kind of figured that out" he answered . He lightly rested his hand on her cheek and smiled, and then he leaned in for a kiss. It was gentle and passionate, yet urgent at the same time.

"Do you want to watch some romantic movie till we fall asleep?"

"As of I watched the last one" she chipped in chuckling and he laughed too. "But I would really love to watch one particular one" she moved her lips close to his now wrapping her arms around his neck, "Don't tell me it's nollywood"

"It is"

"Things I do for love, what's the title I'll download it"

"It's happening tonight no matter how much you try to avoid it, starring Osaze and Osas" she replied and he busted out laughing into her mouth. "I'm not trying to avoid it" "Yeah yeah yeah" she answered playfully yet sarcastically and he laughed.

"Okay, I'm trying to avoid it"

"Why?"

"I've seen rape victims" "You've definitely not met me, meet me, wait.... Its met, its met" she chuckled and he scratched his brow. "What are you scared of?"

"Triggering memories from that day, traumatizing you. It's a common occurrence" "That's sweet, let me worry about that, we're playing this movie to the end. Don't touch the dial" she broke away from his embrace, she danced and he smiled.

"What does this movie start with?"

Osas kissed him then she withdrew, "I'll be in the bathroom" she answered picking the shopping bags from the chair then she walked out of the sitting room and he watched her leave then he exhaled, he definitely needed a drink.

Osas' phone rang instantly in getting to the room and she picked up, "Are you guys back?" Obianuju asked and Osas smiled, "Guess what? Osaze proposed" she announced and Obianuju screamed in excitement.

"Raymond told me about the ring, I just wanted to confirm. You two have fun, you deserve it Big sis" she answered and Osas smiled. "That sounds great" "Good night" she dropped the call and Chika called in.

"Have you guys gotten home?"

"Yes"

"What are you doing?"

"I want to take my bathe" she answered and Chika laughed, "So the do is will soon begin"

"Tah!"

"I hope you've shaved?" She asked and Osas hung up, took off her wig then she put the phone on airplane mode. No disturbances please!

In the bathroom she stripped and put on the new lingerie the girls got her for this occasion-  if in case anything happens. It was black, lacy and see-through.

After taking a shower, she wore the pant and bra, wearing a lacy robe over it. She opened the bathroom door and found Osaze still fully dressed, she pouted in disappointment. He had a wine bottle in his hands. Then he poured the contents into two wine glass.

He looked up at her and then he smiled at her. Osas posed for him in the doorframe, making him laugh. "I feel like a model right now" she commented and he chuckled picking the two glasses and she slowly walked up to him then he handed her a glass half filled with wine.

"I want to celebrate one of the strongest women on Earth, I want to celebrate a gem, the woman of my dreams, the mother of my children"  "E no too early to talk like that?"

"Wait.... Didn't you just accept my ring?" He asked and she giggled, "But... What if you change your mind?" "Why will I change my mind? I'm crazy over you. There's no other person I want to be the mother of my children. I've never seen any other woman in that way, my children will be lucky to have you as their mother"

"They'll be lucky to have you as a father too" Her mouth parted his and they kissed, gentlier at first and then they pressed harder as her tongue searched for his.

"Do you want to have children soon?"

"I'm not growing any younger but I'll love to have it planned. There are still a lot to do and"  before he completed his sentence she silenced him with another kiss. Sending him a message, oga do and toast let's get into bizness!

"I wish to celebrate the both of us, they say love conquers all, let's toast to the victory of love and victories ahead" he continued raising his glass and Osas clinked it against his then she gasped on how hard she her own glass hit against his.

Osaze laughed, "Where did I get this village woman from?" He asked sipping the wine, "From Edo State" she answered chuckling and he smiled then he watched her take a sip.

He looked down into her eyes, tipped her chin up then he kiss her lips, gently and then more passionately, not wanting to break the kiss but there was a need to drop the glasses so they did then they resumed.

For long minutes he repeatedly kissed her lips while unbuttoning his shirt then she reach out for the shirt, she took it off throwning it aside and they both giggled then he took off his singlet running her hands up and down his muscular chest.

Osas pushed him to sit on the edge of the bed then she untied the robe, revealing her sexy lacy bra and pant.  Osaze exhaled biting his lips and she flashed a flirtatious smile at him now sitting above him and his arms wrapped around her. He could feel the man in him aroused, ideas popped in to his head, he wanted to have her but he didn't want to be selfish.

He had to be sure she wanted it and not because of pressure mounted on her.

"Is this what you want Osas?" He asked and she nodded smiling sheepishly, "And you're not doing it because of you feel pressured" "By who? If you don't want, it's fine. It's actually my first time feeling this way about any man, even though I'm not losing my virginity but it feels that way to me and you're actually the only man I want to experience that with but if you don't want to"

Osaze silenced her with a kiss then his hands glide over her shoulders,  he took out the robe tossing it aside. His hands and fingers touch her body everywhere. He caressed her breasts with his hands, while his fingers continued to excite her hard nipples. Osas gasped with pleasure at this sensitive spot on her body then she resumed kissing him; she was literally trembling, it felt like the temperature in the room suddenly went up, she felt hot, especially in her cores.

Reaching around her back he undid her bra clasps, taking it off and tossing away. He stared at her breast, they weren't big, but they were perfect.

Osas looked at him shyly as his eyes focused on her,  she stared deeply into his eyes for a few silent loving, moments, before she claimed his lips with hers.

Osaze gently laid her in bed, then he climbed on top of her kissing her neck then he slowly trailed the kisses down her neck and she shut her eyes in pleasure.

She felt his mouth take her nipples then he suck on them very lightly leaving her to gasp and moan in delight.

Osaze trailed down the kisses even more lower, working his way down then he slided down her panties the rest of the way. He undid his jean and boxers then he resumed back to teasing her nipples while run his hands down her thighs.

Her sighs became louder and more urgent. Her eyes were pleading and he hid a laughter across his cheek.  Knowing Osas so well, he knew she was probably Insulting him in pidgin for being such a tease. Especially when she had that, 'Oga, no dey tease me, do wetin you want do!' look.

He gave in; he kissed her lips as he  slowly positioned himself to thrust into her. She cried out softly into his lips as soon as he did. He motioned slowly, deeper and then faster and she moaned louder and she got cut off by his lips.

Passionate moans, and groans echoed in the room and they felt like they would explode from the pleasure.

When they had gotten to their peak, Osaze collapses on top of her, both of them completely out of breath. He then rolled onto his back trying to catch his breathe and Osas exhaled smiling sheepishly at the ceiling.

"What?" Osaze asked and she turned towards him, "I'm happy" she replied and he cradled her in his arms now spreading the sheets above the both of them. "Seriously?" He asked, "You're not filled with regrets, or any traumatic memories from....." He trailed off and she shook her head.

"No! Babe, listen, I'm okay. The last time was by force, this one is my choice. I just bust rhyme now now now" she joked and he chuckled softly.

"I'm sorry" he apologized and she frowned, "For what?" "Is was my fault. If I didn't...I wish I didn't send you there"

"Milk done pour for ground, you dey cry for am? What's the use? See, I never really blamed you for what happened, I swear to God Osaze, the only thing I hated was the fact you didn't stand up for me. It wasn't your fault, I was stupid"

"I tried to warn you about Jerry, I wish I had"

"It's okay dear, let's not ruin this moment with that talk. What happened to me, that rape, made me stronger, it made me smarter, it made me learn how to defend myself. It made me that street girl Osas, it made me a better hustler."

"I had plans for you"

Osas felt tears build up in her eyes then she blinked them back in. "We're together now, that's all that matters, let's not look at the past, we should rather concentrate on the present and future" she kissed his chest and he pulled her close.

Thunder boomed and the lightning crackle which made Osaze gasped in fear and Osas laughed, "You too dey fear" "I wonder why that gets to me every time"

"You were my my crush that year, it wasn't a.........." She thought of words to describe it, "It wasn't like a developed crush but, I liked you, you had that likeable spirit"

Osaze chuckled, "And there was Jerry thinking you were into him" "So where is he now? I mean Jerry, since we're discussing this, let's just discuss it once and for all"

"I don't know, we separated after the incidence, I found my own place. I just thought maybe going my own way will stop me from wanting to kill them. I swear I would have killed them if I had the chance" he confessed and she chuckled.

"He's currently working in his father's company here in Lagos" "Lagos?" "Yeah. Do you want to sue, if you do, I'll be behind you" "No, I won't even do a single thing. Karma will definitely catch up to them"

"What about me?"

Osas laughed bringing her lips close to his, "Na your own Karma be this" she answered and they both laughed into each other's lips.  Osas looked at the ring on her fingers, "What will be my name when we get married?"

"Osarieme Osaze Benjamin"

"No Briggs?"

Osaze shook his head, "No! I already told you, it's Mom's family name and changing to Dad's surname will take a whole lot of swearing processes, we'll be starting afresh, our children's name will be Amazing Osaze Benjamin"

Osas looked up at him in surprise, "Amazing?" "Babe, calm down, it's just a suggestion" "Or we could name him Nojie" "Are you from Ishan? See your head, you don't even know your root" "What does it matter? I like the name and I like Efe too"

"My brother's name" she answered shocking Osaze with a smile, he thought she was going to go into sad mode.  "I saw your Mom at the hospital Mom"

"She came?"

"Yes"

"Did she say anything to you?" He asked and she hesitated then she noticed the anger forming on his face. "Calm down, she didn't say anything I didn't expect. It's just obvious she doesn't approve of me"

"Who cares what she thinks? I don't even care if she comes for the wedding. In fact she's not even invited!" "Oga calm down" Osas pressed his chest and he hissed. "Your Mom is unbearable but she's your Mom so..."

"What did she say?"

"Aproko! Is it your business?" She asked and they both chuckled.

"I'm sorry for whatever she said"

"Apology accepted" "That means it's bad"

Osas laughed, "Just kidding." She exhaled. "Can we talk about Chief Akinola?" Osaze asked and she shrugged, "I've been to court hearing and the experience wasn't nice the last time. And till now, we don't need have much proof"

"They're going to have to provide the whereabouts of those girls that went out with them. We have to know they're safe, that's a plus for us but we need witnesses, that's where we're short"

"I can go to Mama Justice compound, if neighbors testify to the last day Uche and UD came into the compound, that can serve as something shey?"

"Not a strong evidence per se judging from that fact they're prostitutes, mom might attack on that part but it's a good start"

Osas forced a smile, "Is there any use pushing for that case, it's looking like I don't have a chance" "Chief Akinola will go down, along with friends. There'll be more evidence to use as the case progresses. Even if it takes months, we'll win"

"I hope" she answered leaning against his chest. Soon they drifted to sleep.

Kubiat stopped his car at a junction and Ejiro smiled. "Thank you for dropping me" "Where do you stay?" "Inside" "Inside? Let me drive you in, the rain is still drizzling" "There's this pot hole and I won't want to stress your car. Besides, it's only preferably when you're walking on foot"

"It's not safe. This working condition is not safe at all"

"It was better then, the house was closed to the hotel, now it's just... I feel safer here, as long I don't have people trailing after me, I'm fine"

"I don't even know what to say. You need police protection"

"In this Nigeria?"

"Yes, it's possible." "Don't they usually pay for those kinds of treatment?" "They do but in this case, I can have someone from my team check up from time to time"

Ejiro smiled, "You'll do that for me?" "Yes. What kind of person do you take me for?" He asked and she chuckled. "I know you have this shallow ideology about Policemen but I can assure you that I'm quite different"

"How?"

Kubiat opened his mouth to speak then he chuckled clearing his throat, "Okay, I'm one man that doesn't owe anyone, I'm not bias like other policemen, I try to live up to the good standards every policemen should live by, I'm good looking" he added and she laughed.

"Wait ... So other policemen are what? Ugly?"

"Okay be truthful, if I didn't tell you who I was, what would you have taken me as?" He asked and she bit her lower lip, "A model" she answered and he raised his hands up.

"Oorh! See? How many good looking policemen can to find in the business?" He asked and she kept on laughing now throwing her head backwards.

"You're crazy"

"I'm been sincere, we're talking 3/a million and I'm among the three good looking ones, tell me I don't have a reason to be proud" "I know" she replied unconsciously and they both shared a look for what seemed like minutes.

"Has anyone ever told you, you have a nice laugh?" He asked and she raised her nose in pure disbelief. "I laugh like a pig" "Are you actually Insulting yourself?"

"I do laugh like a pig, it's not an insult."  "Why do you think so?"

"Cause I look into the mirror and it's what I see" "You're clearly using the wrong mirror, I mean it. You do have a good laugh" "When I will laugh in public, my ex, they'll say Ejiro, must you open all your teeth? My Mom said it too so in a way, I kind of believe them, majority carries the vote"

"So my vote doesn't count?"

Ejiro smiled, "Thanks but.... I guess I'm that broken. It'll take more than a compliment to reverse the years my laughter has been severally mocked at!" She cleared her throat thinking of a way to change the topic.

"You still haven't given me what you brought from Calabar" "It's Akwa Ibom, nice try trying to change the topic" he chipped in and she smiled. "I'm a freaking bachelor, I specifically told  my Mom that I didn't want unnecessary load. The only I brought was afang from the compound"

"Wait.... You guys grow that?"

"Yes, my father's compound. It's in the garden, mom took a little. I told her, I didn't want much so...Yes, that was what I brought from the village. And stock fish, and a lot of dry fish. Besides, when I got back I sliced the afang and I made the soup. That was what I ate the whole week"

Ejiro blinked her eyes, "You what?" She asked and he laughed, "I cooked the soup" "Not that, I meant the afang, those are difficult to slice, you have to be precise. Jesus! How did you do it?"

Kubiat scoffed, "Come on, I dabble a bit in cooking and besides, It's the family I come from, everyone in the family had a rooster for slicing. Then we were in Lagos but Mom made sure to teach us the way"

"This is unbelievable!"

"Do you want proof?"

"What kind off proof can you give me?"

"Oh Jesus, is that a challenge? Okay now, Saturday, I'll clear my schedule and then I'll invite you to eat fresh afang soup"  "Are you serious?" She asked and he smiled. "I'm damn serious"

"Fine!" He answered and Ejiro looked out the window. "The rain isn't pouring much, let me go before the rain gets worst"

Kubiat exhaled getting out of the car, "Seriously?" "Get out of the car, I'm escorting you home" he moved over opening the door for her to get out. "Don't blame me when you come back and find out your car's missing"

"Does the person have a death wish?"

The following morning

Osas opened his eyes to find Osaze staring right at her. They looked into one another's eyes, smiling, remembering the night before. "Good morning" she replied giving him a tender kiss on the lips.

"What will you like to eat today?" He asked, "Anything you want"  she answered and he smiled. "Anything I want?" He snaked his arm around her waist, kissing her neck and she laughed.

"See this guy oh" she pushed him back and he winked at her, "Who are you cutting eyes for? Abeg na beta hunger dey worry me" she slipped out of his loving arms, rose up from the bed, naked then she walked towards the bathroom. On second thought, she asked him to join her in the shower.

Osaze smiled in response and climbed out of bed following her into the bathroom. He stood by the door watching the water trickle down her body like a waterfall.

He entered into the shower hugging her from behind. Her body instantly reacted to his touch, she feel his reaction from behind already. He started to kiss her neck, making her legs go weak.
She raised her arms, placing them on the shower walls.

"The number you're trying to call is not reachable at the moment"  the network provider said  and Tasha rolled her eyes, it was the fourth time calling Chike that morning.

She quickly wore her earrings, leaving the room and bumping into her mother who was already dressed up in her black gown and a white suit. "Good morning Mom" "Good morning dear, leaving so early?"

"Yeah... I'm not going to work. A friend of mine needed legal advice on this business and she asked for my help" "I hope you're not doing it for free"

"Mom, she's a friend"

"You guys are just like your father, you have his heart" she said exhaling. "Has your father mentioned anything about coming back?" "Nope."

"Oh."

"You two need to sort this out"

Morenike rolled her eyes, "We all need to sort ourselves out. I feel bad for missing Vera's ultrasound session. I heard it's a boy" she smiled and her mother shrugged.

"So I heard"

"Nana told you?"

"No. That girl, Osas, the one your brother is dating, can you believe Osaze? Dating that low...... life" She emphasize then she placed her palm on Tacha's face.

"Since Denrele didn't work, I'll try to talk to Senator Sani into fixing a meeting with his son. I know you're going to make me more proud than your brother and sister" she smiled then she exhaled leaving Tacha demented.

7:25 am

Osifo drove back to the house from the airport only to find Morenike by the door. He got out of the car and a smile curled up her cheeks on seeing her.

Did she miss him as much as he missed her?

"Don't you answer your calls?" She barked, "I mean I've left you two missed calls"

"Two missed calls and you're shouting like it's ten." "Is that the apology I deserve?"

"I was driving" he replied walking past her then he unlocked the door. "You're not going to apologise" "For what now? I didn't even know you were around" he walked and she followed him in.

"Seriously?"

"I'm sorry." He apologized rubbing his forehead  from frustration. "Are you happy now?" He added and she exhaled. "Why haven't you shown up to work? It's been a week now"

"You know why?"

"What has business got to do with what happens in our marriage. We had a fight, you can stay away if you like but you're not permitted to stay away from work. I have condoned this indiscipline for a week, if you stay away a day more, you'll be fired"

"What?"

"You heard me right, you'll be fired. Tomorrow, you're to resume fully. No excuses" "I'm not fit to resume, I'm not mentally or emotionally stable"

"Would you rather I refer you to a shrink? If you stay away..." "You can take your stupid job Morenike, I don't need it"

Morenike raised her brow in surprise, "What?" "I resign from henceforth" "Okay.... Are you sure this is what you want?" She asked, this was followed by a knock on the door and Tiffany walked in; she had a pink singlet on a black bum short.

"Good morning Sir" she greeted and Morenike threw a look at her. "Who are you and who asked you to walk in?"

"Uh...." She trailed off, "Um...."  "Leave this instant"

"She's not leaving"

"Who is she?"

"Avia's neighbor and she's a friend, if there's anyone that isn't welcomed here, it's you not her."

"Excuse you?"

Osifo walked towards the door opening it wide, "Morenike, please leave. Please" he begged and she scoffed walking out of the house and she struggled to keep her smile hidden.

"You shouldn't have done that. I would have gladly left"

"It's okay"

"Your wife is really rude"

"Of course she is, she didn't even miss me and there I was thinking she did." "Hey" Tiffany called out placing both her palms on his cheek while tests ran down his eyes.

"Any woman that makes a man cry is undeserving of him. You deserve to be loved, to be treated right" She added pressing her lips against his and he looked away, "Is she worth the tears Sir, is she?" She asked and Osifo found himself kissing her and she kissed him back with passion and urgency.

"I saw you leave the house with your sister" "Yeah, she travelled to Benin" "So... I take it we have the whole house to ourselves"

Osifo moved back shaking his head, "I can't" "Okay... My house is just steps away" "I can't do it" he answered, "I can't cheat on my wife" he added and she exhaled.

"Okay..... I get it but I want you to know that I can treat you better than she does. If you feel the need to feel loved, you know where you can find me"

Morenike got into her car and tears rolled down her eyes. "Stop this, no man should ever make you cry again, remember that?" She asked looking into the front mirror. "No man, no matter who is he, even if he's your husband" she cried leaning against the steering wheel and then her phone rang.

She reached for the phone in her bag afterwards she picked it. "Morning Janet" "Morenike, are you free?" "No. I'm about to go to work, I have a busy schedule this week and I needed Osifo to help me trim it down but ...." She trailed off.

"I need someone to speak to badly. Can you believe that journalist wrote some things about Eniola" "He did?" "Didn't you see the paper?"

"I saw the one from two days ago"

"Have you seen this morning own?"

"I have better things to do that to bother myself with useless articles, he's just trying to gain attention" "And it's working"

"Do you want to sue him?"

"Daddy Goriola said we shouldn't, although I would have loved to." "Goriola hasn't resumed work for a week now. His number has been unreachable for days now,  Is he alright?"

"That's another issue I want to discuss with you about. My son has gone AWOL, he has locked himself in door, he doesn't want to speak to anyone. I don't even understand. I had to send his father to meet him today for my sake"

Tacha got out of her car, then she sighted Madam Davina leaning against her car so she walked up to her. "Good morning Ma" "Good morning dear" she replied wiping her tears off. "Is everything okay Ma? Is Chike okay? I've been trying to reach and ...."

"He's fine. He hasn't told you right?"

"What?" She asked and Madam Davina cried, "I didn't mean for him to find out this way." "Find out what?" "I can't explain but if you can help me beg on my behalf, I'll really appreciate it" she sniffled and Tacha gazed worriedly at her.

"Ma, you're not okay"

"You should go in and see him, he's brokenhearted, what he needs now is you." She replied and Tacha exhaled then she hastened her steps down to Chike's flat.

She knocked on the door but Chike refused opening the door. "Boo boo it's me" she yelled and he soon opened up. "I was worried, I tried your number, it wasn't reachable. I left you several messages on WhatsApp, what happened? Why is your Mom outside and why is she crying?" She asked and Chike leaned forward busting into tears and she hugged him.

"Is it that bad?"

Mr Badmus knocked on Goriola's door and he opened up. "I thought you will not open it before" he answered walking in and Goriola locked the door. "Your mother has been worried about you. You have refused picking her calls"

"I didn't want to speak to anyone, I honestly don't feel like talking to anyone" he replied taking his seat and his father joined him.

"Go-ri-ola!" He called out and he bowed his head in shame. "You know I haven't said anything about this, I have been quiet, awfully quiet! You were our only son and we sought to spoil you with all the love a parent can ever give a child. Then Eniola came and we still followed by he same line, I won't blame your mother for over pampering the both of you but I still won't turn my eyes away from the fact that were at fault. We should have done better at raising you. A good man never raises his hands on a woman and a man should never force himself on a woman Goriola! Why did you do it?" He asked and he kept quiet looking away, tears slowly found it's way down his cheek.

"It was the most stupid decision I ever made. Fine, there were times Jerry and I shared . .. Girls but, I didn't even know her that much, I heard pretty much about her and Jerry convinced me Osas knew what she wanted and she wanted it. I didn't even know she was a virgin until I forcefully took it"

Mr Badmus shut his eyes painfully, "And you didn't apologize? Owe up to your crime" "Would you have preferred that I was arrested? I was just 20 years old, how would it have looked like?" "You didn't know you were twenty years old when you were raping her"

"I didn't know she was a virgin"

"Does it change the fact you raped her?" "Rape is rape, you should have done the right thing " "Osaze was ready to report to the police so I called Mom and"

"She and Morenike covered everything up. No wonder you and Osaze stopped being friends. Have you spoken to the girl?"
"I can't see Osas, I dont think i can look her in the eyes, I don't understand why I had to fall in love with the....." He trailed and his father laughed. "Haven't you heard?"

"That what?"

"You don't throw stones in glassy house, Proudly Yoruba
Adìyeẹ tó ńṣu s’ínú íṣasún, sàréè reẹ̀ ló ńbàje (A hen that is defecating inside a cooking pot is simply messing up its final resting place). Man will always reap whatever yhe or she sows. Didn't you know when you were doing it that time?" Mr Badmus asked and he exhaled.

"Let me just tell you the truth so you wojt be shocked, if they come to charge you of anything, emi Mayowa Badmus, I won't lift a muscle to help you. Walayi!" He shrugged. "Every man must pay for his crime"

"I expected she and Osaze come after me after she makes up with Osaze. I'm pretty sure she's still angry at him." He exhaled. "If she doesn't?"

Eniola held a cup of coffee to her lips while reading the headlines bodly written on the cover of Probe newspapers. You can't take away my voice with Bribe Chief Akinola Bello; justice must prevail.

Mrs Bello threw the newspaper away, "Odabi ori awon ara ile alakunrin yii o pe! (It's like this guy's  family members are all mad). Ah han! Doesn't he have discretion? Even though its a dié (a little). Oloriburuku ni guy yii oh!" She complained picking her phone to call her husband.

"Honey, good morning"

"Mummy Kola, Bawo ni?" He asked staring at a young girl who was rubbing his protruding belly." "I am not fine but before i start complaining, how is Abuja, I hope you're not stressing yourself"

"Ah, we have to stress ourselves to make money for the family, Abi?"

"True sha but your health should come first. Have you checked the papers?"

"What is it again? What did that rubbish man write this time?"

"He said you bribed him, I know you did but Daddy Kola, can't be be discrete at least. Kini yii... (This thing....) My dear, I'm tired of people asking me question Here and there. I know that people always tall trash but this is alarming and it's the longest, it doesn't always last like this"

"Wo, my dear, don't worry about it. It will pass, don't worry, we have it under control"

.

Folabi entered into the Chief-editor's office and the lady along with Magarette flashed a smile at him. "I have to rethink on hiring you as a main journalist" The chief Editor complimented and he chuckled. "Why?"

"Everyone's buying the newspaper to check what you have to say next. Is that how you were in Benin?" "Not exactly, there are a lot of top notch journalist in the institution. I'm really not popular there but what thing thst stirs me is injustice. I don't react well to injustice. I believe in using the power of the pen to get Justice in the society just like Ivie Mommoh did. To be honest, she's my mentor, her writing style"

"I think you're doing a good job. You don't have to worry about them suing us, they threaten to do that every time whenever we write about them or report about them on television and blogs" They call it trash but we call it the truth. Besides we have a good lawyer representing us"

"Osaze Benjamin?"

"Exactly"

"So what you're saying is, your mother is your Aunt and this Osas, my brother's dating is your sister" "Yes"

Tacha scoffed, "My brother's dating your sister. That's crazy, that's pretty messed up"  "That's not what I'm worried about. I honestly don't care about that. What if I had dated my own sister? I'm so angry!"

"Have you spoken to her?"

"Who, mom?"

"No, your sister"

"Sisters, Osas and Obianuju by right I should be giving them that respect, Mom took that away from me! Those two begged her and she still....." He trailed off sniffling and she wiped his tears off.

"Will you tell them?"

"I don't know how to, all these while I've been with my sisters and I never knew. Where will I start?"

Folabi knocked on the door and Osas ran to the door dressed in a blue gown that stopped at her thigh. "Who is it?" She asked, "Its me" Folabi answered and she smiled. "Is me your name?" "Come on, open the door before I break someone's door" he answered and she laughed opening up then she hugged him.

"Hey. Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" She asked and Folabi snuggers, "Have you forgotten you have no sim" "Oh sorry, I forgot to tell you, I already retrieved my sim. I'm disappointed that my Benin friends have not called, even you"

Folabi chuckled, "Will you blame them? They've all been trying for a week, they're bound to get tired" "How did you know I was here?" "I called Omo, she sent me an address, I just asked a guy down who lives down the other flat about Osaze and he directed me here"

Osas hugged him again then she withdrew, "God I missed you" "Thank God you're smiling today. So I take it, you're no longer angry at him" "No" She answered then she let him in. "We're even engaged Folabi, he proposed last night" she confessed and he turned towards her quite surprised.

"Wow. Are you happy?" He asked them he scoffed, "Stupid question, of course you are. You deserve much more, to the fullest. Congratulations dear, where's the lucky guy?"

"Work"

Folabi groaned in disappointment, "I hope there's nothing wrong?" Osas asked, "Nothing serious, i just want to have a conversation with the both of you"

"Really? About what? Sit down, do you want anything to drink?"

"Nothing"

"Who you want try that one with? I resemble stranger?" She hissed rushing off to the kitchen, "Just water abeg!"

Osas returned with a bottled water on a tray, "You still presented it inside a tray as if I'm so important" he answered and she chuckled. "I made okro soup, let me rush and"

"Don't stress yourself. Just have a seat, let's talk"

Osas sat down besides him, "Are we safe?" "Its about Chief Akinola's case, I know you needed time to straighten things up with Osaze, are you guys pushing for it? I just want to know"

"Yes we are. We spoke about it last night"

"And.....?"

"Folabi, you knew how my face was during the abortion trial now. I just want the week to myself, I know this is about getting justice for Adetutu" "Not just Adetutu, for others too but I get your point. You need a honeymoon before the whole court stress, I get it."

Osas exhaled, "I'm scared Folabi, what if we don't win? No evidence" "Evidence will surface, that's what I've been working on. Once we get people to see that Chief is nothing, that is power doesn't matter, those who know his secret will come out and support you" "Are you sure if you're just giving me hope?"

"All of the above" he replied and they both laughed.

"Chief Akinola tried to bribe me two nights ago. Its not a strong point but these are things we can use. We just have to be hopeful to God"

Evening

Osas opened up the door and Osaze smiled at her, "Welcome back dear" she said and he kissed her on the lips, they both walked in not breaking the kiss while Osaze shut the door using his leg.

Osas exhaled. "How was work?" "It's still incomplete, my office doesn't feel like my office. The interior decorator is doing a good job but.... I miss my old office" "Sorry"

"Dress up, we're going out"

"Where?"

"It's a surprise"

Osas smiled suddenly overwhelmed with anxiety. "Okay"

Nana walked into the study where Morenike was, she was all dressed up in a flowing Ankara gown and a turban. "You havent had dinner, dinner has been served latekan! (Since)" "I'm not hungry" "What happened?"

"Sifo resigned"

"I heard, I called him, I don't hesitate to call him everyday. Its your fault"

Morenike rolled her eyes, "Its always my fault." "Before nko?" "There was this girl that walked in, Avia's neighbour, I just feel so uneasy about her, I'm sure Avia has found another person for her brother. Do you think Sifo is cheating on me?"

"Your husband is not that kind of person but wait oh, even though he does, don't you deserve it for being a bad wife?" "I'm not having this discussion, good night" she answered finally taking notice of her dressing.

"Are you going out?"

"Yes"

"Where?"

"Osaze called me" she smiled bashfully, "Glory to God, we'll be planning a wedding soon" "What wedding?" She asked rising up, "Don't tell me Osaze proposed to that......"

"To that what? Something you should be celebrating"

"She doesn't even have a name? She's worst than Philip, Osaze can't be serious about this. It's sudden"

"I came here to let you know, in case you want to come along"

"Over my dead body"

"Issoryt!" Nana clutched to her purse, "I will be back late so.... Good night"

Eniola walked into her house then she sighted her parents having dinner at the dining. "Good evening Mom, good evening Dad" "Welcome back dear. Take your bathe, then come out for dinner"

"I don't have the appetite"

"Why?"

"I don't know" "What do you mean by you don't know, who is the bastard that put you in a bad mood?" "Mummy Goriola!" "Its our daughter we're talking about. Is it that stupid reporter?" She asked and Eniola rolled her eyes.

"No! It was a very annoying day. I was dealing with a divorce case and the husband doesn't want to divorce the wife but the wife wants it badly. There was this man that came in and started making advances at me"

"Eniola, it's totally normal"

"It was irritating. Purely irritating" she answered then she exhaled walking close to her father. "Daddy?" "What is it princess?"  "How well do you know, Chief Akinola?" He asked and Mr Badmus coughed then he slowly drank water from a cup.

"How well?"

"Not very well. The only thing I know is that, the man is a cunny man, he's never straight forward. My spirit and his spirit does not go"  "Darling! That's something unfair to say about Chief, ah han, didn't we attend his daughter's wedding two years ago?"

"The fact that I honoured his invitation doesn't make him my friend or does it?"

Eniola exhaled, "Do you think he's guilty if what they're accusing him for?" "Eniola!" Mrs Badmus snapped, "Why are you speaking this way? This is the same man you're defending oh"

"I want to clear my conscience Mom, I couldn't sleep last night."

Mr Badmus shrugged looking up at his daughter, "I can't say I know anything about that but I have heard of one rape case but it was waved off so.... My dear, I can't really say"

Osaze drove into Mr and Mrs Nwosu's compound and she wondered what the surprise could be. He got out from the car along with Osas who was dressed in a yellow knee-length gown, her wig flowed down her shoulders.

Her drummed in anticipation.  "See as my heart dey beat" she said then she sighted Raymond and Obianuju. "Hey sis" Obianuju walked up to her then she hugged her.  "Congrat one again"

"Thank you."

"Raymond dragged me here,  said he had a surprise for me. I've been waiting outside"

Osas turned towards Osaze, "Osaze also said the same thing." She added, "What's going on here?" They both asked and Raymond laughed. "That's no creepy but anyways, it's a surprise, so we're not telling"

"Osaze"

"Shhhh" he placed his fingers across her lips and she bit his finger. "Ouch, you can't even be romantic." He snapped and she chuckled.  "This surprise better be worth it" she complained, "I swear" Obianuju agreed and the two men gently pushed them towards the door.

Raymond knocked and Mrs Nwosu opened the door. "There they are." "Good evening Mommy. What's going on?" "Come in" she answered and they all walked in.

"Congratulations!!!!" Everyone present, including; Mr and Mrs Nwosu, Osifo Omo, Chika, Tacha, Vera, Philip, Nana, Osato, Zuwa and Chike yelled.

Chike played the guitar to Johnny'. drille's My love;

🎶Love is a beautiful thing
This love na forme and you
Would you be my Juliet and I'll be Home, my love

It's the hand of God that brings you to me,
It's indescribable, what you mean to me. Would you be my Juliet and I will be your Romeo, my love 🎶 he stopped and Obianuju turned back at Osas, "It's an engagement party" "A mini-engagement party" Osaze corrected while Chike moved closer to Osas.

"Congratulations to you"

"Thank you. You guys invited Chike, I don't know why but I'm happy you did. Where's your Mom?" She asked looking around and Chike cleared his throat, a frown spread across his face.

Obianuju frowned glaring at her husband, "Why was I involved? Not like it's my engagement party" "Well ...." Raymond trailed off staring at Osaze, "I don't even know where to start explaining, Nuju, sweetheart, you know how you've always been obsessed about meeting your siblings and how happy you were when you found  Osas..."

"Huh huh?"

"We found your brother"

Obianuju and Osas raised their brow in surprise. "Permit me to borrow Osas language, you dey whine our nipple?" Obianuju asked and Osas chuckled. "Where him dey?" She asked with her hands akimbo on her waist.

Osaze turned her towards Chike's direction while Raymond pointed at him. Osas gasped, "I don't understand, you're Aunt Uyi's son, you're supposed to be our cousin"

"I just found out she lied, my whole life has been a lie" he blinked his tears in and Obianuju covered her palms over lips. "I knew it!" She muttered to herself.

"Efe?" Osas asked hugging him and Obianuju pressed her body against the both of them.
