prologue.
[ A/N: welcome to another story of mine. If you don't know me already, my name is Miyah! This fic is based on Blue Lock, the soccer manga that I've recently started reading. Let me know which characters you'd like to be a love interest for the reader! ]
You clutched a letter in your hands, your eyes wavering. . .
[L/n] [Y/n].
You have been invited to Blue Lock as the team manager.
Your efforts in the soccer world have been acknowledged.
We wish to put your skills to use in creating the best striker in all of Japan.
- Teieri Anri, and Jinpachi Ego.
You had just come home from soccer practice at school, and your mother handed you this letter with your name written on it. At first, you were a little skeptical, but you could never have guessed that it would be something so important. You didn't know who Jinpachi Ego was, but you were familiar with Teieri Anri.
"So. . . ? What does it say?" Your mum looked at you with worried eyes. You glanced up at her for a moment, before returning your gaze to the letter in your hands. A small sigh slipped past your lips.
You've been playing soccer since you were a little girl and able to walk. All those years of experience made you quite the player. You were team captain of your school's team of girls, but your team never went to the nationals. It was always heartbreaking, but you just wanted to play soccer with your friends. That's what made you happy.
But now that you received this letter, maybe you've always wanted something more than just kicking the ball around with your friends. Maybe you wanted to make a bigger impact, be someone more important, and useful.
Maybe this opportunity was what you were waiting for all your life.
"Mum. . . I'm going to Blue Lock."
The building was huge. You could hardly find your way around the empty place. The program hadn't opened up just yet, but you were called a little earlier. Jinpachi wanted to meet you for himself, and so did Anri. When you arrived, you were having second thoughts. Living away from your family sounded a little scary, even though it wasn't going to be forever. You'd never lived on your own before, the closest to that would have been a sleepover with your friends from the girls soccer team.
You were starting to feel a little anxious, but that was just when you found the main office where Jinpachi Ego resided. You stood at the doors, mustering the courage to knock and go inside.
Just then, the doors opened on their own, and standing by the doorway was a rather tall young lady. She had short brown hair and big, round eyes. She blinked once she saw you, but then it finally clicked in her head, and she smiled.
"You must be [L/n] [Y/n]," she stepped aside. "Please, come in."
"O-okay. . . Thank you." You bowed your head before making you way inside of the spacious but. . . Very dark room. At this point you felt like you were being kidnapped, until a multitude of screens flashed on, shining a bright white light into your eyes. You winced and turned away until your vision adjusted.
Sitting on an office chair in front of the screens was a man with a bowl cut of black hair, glasses, and a professional outfit that you didn't think suited him.
"Welcome, unpolished gem." He pressed his fingertips together, elbows resting on the chair handles. "My name is Jinpachi Ego, and you are [L/n] [Y/n]. This is Teieri Anri." He didn't even gesture towards the woman.
Those two felt like light and day. Jinpachi emanated a dreary aura, while Anri was like the sunshine in the room. You didn't believe that they got along with one another, and you probably never would.
"We're glad you decided to come." Anri linked her hands behind her back. "I hope this isn't too much of a bother-"
"Shut up Anri-chan." Jinpachi intruded. Anri's face instantly went sour.
Right. They didn't get along. Just like you thought.
"You are a soccer player of a high caliber. . . But your team will never make it to the nationals." Jinpachi said.
"And what makes you say that?" You frowned a little.
"Asides from you. Your team is trash." He shot back, which struck a nerve in you.
"My team is just fine." You glared at him. Those were your dear friends, you wouldn't let anyone insult them. They worked hard, tried their hardest, and always made you proud. . . Even though they could never keep up with you.
"For years you have been wasting your talent with that shit show of a school. So. I have a solution for you. You will join Blue Lock as the team manager and help me create the best striker in all of Japan."
He was so blunt. You didn't like him at all.
"This is your chance to put your skills to use. To make a difference." Anri chimed in, her face was back to normal.
Your gaze went from Jinpachi, to Anri, and then back to him. You felt like you needed some more time to think now, but at the same time. You knew exactly what you wanted.
". . . Okay. I'll join you." You nodded your head.
"Wonderful." A sinister smile formed on Jinpachi's face.
"So what do you need me to do?" You reluctantly asked.
"Our selections will be coming in today. Start making lunch and dinner. The kitchen is all yours."
Your eyebrow twitched.
You had just agreed to be the team maid.
