7|Addison
CHAPTER 7
My last conversation with Chase was awful. He claimed to not have moved on but then had girls in his bedroom while he was talking to me. I was a lot of things but I wasn't a fool.
I ignored all of his calls and texts but I replied to everyone else. Chase needed to understand why I was upset and I needed space from him.
The past few days had been hell, knowing how my conversation with Chase went.
"You are going to be late if you keep sulking," my dad said and I rolled my eyes.
"I wouldn't be sulking if it wasn't for your stupid job offer," I hissed rudely and I heard Greyson scoff beside me.
"Don't talk to me like that," he said and I rolled my eyes.
"Why not? Do you not want to know how I feel about all of this dad?" I mocked. "I turn eighteen soon so you can't keep me here, I will move back to Boston if I want to." His face became pale and Greyson looked at me.
"Didi don't," he said and I clenched my jaw. I hadn't heard him use that nickname in a very long time. He usually used it when he was younger.
"Oh whatever," I grumbled as I grabbed my bag and left the house.
"Wait!" I stopped by my car when I heard Greyson walking after me. He stood in front of me so that his body was leering over me. He was heavily built and looked a good couple of years older than me. I hated that and he took advantage of it.
"What Grey?" I said in a bored tone.
"You know how upset dad is?" He said and I rolled my eyes.
"I don't care. He doesn't care about my feelings so why the hell should I even care about his?"
He sighed as he folded his arms. "You know that is not true."
"Yes it is."
"Okay you are riding with me."
Before I could even protest, he grabbed my hand and pulled me to his car. "Ow," I said coldly and he dropped his hand.
"You are not arguing with me."
I rolled my eyes but slipped into his passenger seat. "How the hell can you even like it here?" I asked. "This place is a joke."
"No it's not Addison, stop being so selfish."
"How am I being selfish?" I mocked as he started the engine.
"You're being selfish by thinking of yourself and not the rest of this family."
Sometimes I thought he was older than me.
"I'm sorry I think you're mistaking me for dad." He gave me a dirty look but didn't say anything.
He pulled over to the school and grabbed my arm when I was about to get out. I pulled my arm out of his grip and raised my eyebrows at him. "Don't ruin this for us."
"I'm not going to."
"Seriously Addie, you're already popular and you're taking this school by a storm too. I get that you're annoyed Chase isn't here but there are other guys-"
I didn't even listen to what he had to say as I got out of the car and he sighed but quickly followed me, making me stop.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that," he said quietly and glared at him.
"So what did you mean it like?" I snapped and he sighed as he wrapped his arms around me. He had never really been that affectionate recently so it caught me off guard. "Why are you hugging me?" I asked.
"You need one," he whispered and I sighed but returned the embrace.
"I hate it here."
"I know you do," he replied instantly. "But think of our parents, you're really hurting them."
"What am I supposed to do? Just switch my feelings off?" I mocked and he sighed, pulling away from me.
"I didn't say that did I?"
"You didn't need to, you hinted at it." He just rolled his eyes at my logic. "Sorry," I mumbled and he nodded his head. He knew that this long distance relationship was hard for me and after the conversation I had with Chase, I was getting snappy.
A girl stood in front of us and I realised she was blushing. She totally liked Greyson. "Hi Greyson," she said and he gave her a smile.
I was the third wheel here so I spoke up, "Grey. you're giving me a ride after school and you better wait for me."
He rolled his eyes but nodded his head. "I want you to meet Tabitha," he said and I narrowed my eyes at him.
"What?"
"This is Tabitha," he repeated and rolled my eyes but looked at the girl.
She had red hair and brown eyes.
"You're Addison," she said and I didn't say anything. He nudged me silently telling me that I was being rude so I spoke up.
"Yep, that's me."
"Addie, Tabitha is my girlfriend," he said seriously and I snorted.
At our old school in Boston, Greyson was a typical player and slept around. He was a popular guy and girls knew he was a player but still went for him which was stupid.
He had never got a girlfriend though, just hook-ups.
"I'm being serious," he said.
"That's a good one," I said with a smile.
"No he really is being serious," Tabitha said and my smile fell.
"Since when?" I said looking at Greyson.
"A few days ago," he answered and I smirked. He wasn't going to make this last. "What?"
"Good luck," I said looking at both of them. I wanted to give Tabitha the speech where she couldn't hurt him, like Greyson did to Chase but I doubted they would even last a week so I didn't bother.
I walked away from them and saw Isabella talking to a boy I had never seen before.
He had black hair and green eyes. If I was being completely honest, everything about him just screamed gay.
"Hey," I said, looking at Isabella who smiled at me.
"Shane, this is Addison, the girl I was telling you about," she said and he looked at me. His green eyes were dark and they were looking through me, making me feel uncomfortable.
"So you're the famous Addison?"
"It's not her you idiot, she would have told me," Isabella said and I raised my eyebrows at her, hoping they weren't talking about my dad.
"Your dad was the guy who stopped that massive bank robbery that happened three years ago right?" I clenched my jaw as that went worldwide.
"Yep," I said quietly.
I didn't like my reputation to be based off my dad. He was a world known FBI because of the cases he had been in.
"Oh my God," Isabella said.
"I told you!" Shane said as he looked at her and she just rolled her eyes.
"Why the hell didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't see how that was important," I mumbled as I walked past them and to my locker.
They joined me moments later and Shane said "bitch has severe mood swings."
I rolled my eyes at his comment. I was fine with Luciana and Isabella calling me names but I didn't appreciate strangers mocking me. Isabella laughed and I closed my locker.
"Do you have a problem?" I questioned, looking at Shane who laughed.
"God you were right," he said looking at Isabella who had a smirk on her face.
Times like this made me feel excluded from their group and reminded me what I was missing out on in Boston. "What?" I said looking at Isabella.
"It's nothing," she replied shrugging her shoulders and I rolled my eyes at her. I could clearly see that she was lying but I didn't care.
I walked away to my AP Chemistry classroom as the bell rang and sat at the back. I clenched my jaw once I saw Shane and Isabella walk inside, talking about something. Great, he was in this class too.
They sat down in front of me and Shane looked at me. "I think we got off on the wrong start, I'm Shane."
"Addison," I said but just stared at the phone in my hand.
"Shane was on vacation for a family problem and now he's back," Isabella said and I could just see how close they were.
"Fascinating."
Shane scoffed and rolled his eyes at my comment and whispered something over to Isabella who shrugged her shoulders.
I really didn't know how much more of this I could take.
*****
"So you met Shane then," Luciana said as we sat at our regular table and I nodded my head. "What do you think of him?"
"Not nice things."
"Seriously?" I nodded my head and she chuckled. "Shane is awesome, you are going to love him."
Shane sat down next to me and asked what we were talking about.
"You," I replied as I looked at him. "Just how annoying I find you," I said and Luciana scoffed.
"This is about this morning isn't it?" Isabella said as she sat down beside Luciana. She was referring to my dad's job and I nodded my head.
"You're basically judging me based on my dad's job," I said looking at Shane.
"No he isn't," Luciana replied and I could tell that both of them were quick to defend him.
"Well sorry for finding your dad's job interesting," he sarcastically mumbled and I rolled my eyes as I got up and left.
I wanted to leave school but I didn't have my car so I settled for the bathroom instead.
The girls inside were looking at me.
I knew that the news had gotten around that Greyson and I were Peter O'Grady's children. He loved the attention but I didn't.
"Stop staring at me!" I yelled.
"Leave," Isabella said much more calmly and I looked at her once everyone left.
"What? Go back to your friends," I said coldly and she rolled her eyes.
"You are my friend," she replied as she stood next to me and I sighed.
"I don't want you here, I want to be alone."
"Tough I'm not leaving. Shane is a nice guy-"
"Stop taking his side!" I snapped. "I get it, he's your best friend but stop it."
"I'm not taking his side. I'm just saying you were in the wrong." I didn't say anything because that was true as I had snapped at him.
"My dad's job doesn't define me," I said, breaking the silence and she sighed.
"I know that-"
"Shane doesn't and neither does most of this school. Just because my dad happens to be someone famous, it doesn't change me. And people don't understand that, they make a massive deal out of it and I hate that. I hate his stupid job, I hate this stupid school, I hate this stupid state and I hate him."
Tears freely rolled down my cheeks and she sighed as she wrapped her arms around me and I buried my face into her neck.
"You don't hate him," she said quietly.
"I do. If he never had gotten this job then I would never have had to leave Boston and then my boyfriend wouldn't need to cheat on me."
She pulled away from me and her eyes widened. "So this is why you're in a shitty mood." I sighed but didn't say anything. "How do you know he cheated on you?"
"The girl was in his room."
"That sounds bad, I get it Addison but that might not even mean anything-"
"I'm not going to be optimistic because if I do and he did cheat, I would never get over it." She sighed as she wrapped her arms around me again.
"You should talk to him," she said quietly as she rubbed her hand up and down my back. "Seriously, talk to him because there is no way anyone with half a brain would cheat on a girl like you. Yes you can be a dog at times, but you have a big heart," she said and I sighed.
"What do I do if he has?" I whispered and she pulled away again to look at me, cupping my chin.
"If he has then I will kick his ass." I chuckled and she said "no seriously I will." I smiled at her and she continued, "But you'll move on."
"How?"
"We'll worry about that when it comes okay?" She whispered as she wiped my tears away and kissed my cheek. "Don't cry over this okay?"
"Thanks," I said and she smiled at me.
"You're welcome.
*****
It was after school and I had managed to talk to Luciana and Shane.
He turned out to be pretty cool and I felt bad for being rude. I could see why Luciana and Isabella were so fond of him.
After a long day of school, it was finally over.
"Party this weekend," Luciana said bumping her hip with mine and I raised my eyebrows at her.
"No Luce the last thing she needs to do is party, she needs to sort out her relationship," Shane said and I smiled at him.
"Izzy?" Luciana said looking at her because she wanted her opinion.
"You can't force her to," she replied and I smirked.
"Looks like you are all alone," I mocked and she rolled her eyes at me. "But don't worry I need to get drunk so I'll be there."
"The last thing you need to do is get drunk," Isabella said looking at me and I rolled my eyes.
"I'll be fine," I replied and she sighed but didn't say any more.
"What type of drunk are you?" Shane asked and I smirked.
"You're just going to have to wait and see." He laughed and shook his head at me.
We walked out of the building and my entire body froze once I saw Chase.
What the hell was he doing here?
