41|Addison
CHAPTER 41
I had stayed in my car for hours to think. My head was all over the place and I needed somewhere to clearly think without having people distract me.
Looking at the time, I realised it was seven and it was starting to get dark. I had lots of missed calls from my parents, Greyson, Adrianna and my friends.
My phone started ringing and sighed loudly once I saw it was it was Isabella calling.
I declined the call and she texted me.
Call me now, seriously –I
I sighed loudly but called her. "What do you want Isabella?"
"Where the hell are you?" She retorted instantly.
"None of your business."
"Your mom is worried sick," she said and I sighed loudly, not saying anything. "It's getting dark Addie, come over to mine."
"Isabella-"
"Please Addie, for me," she replied and I sighed loudly. "I'll call your parents and tell them you're staying over with me."
I took a deep breath as I silently thought of the pros and cons of that before agreeing and hung up the phone.
Someone knocked on my car window and I jumped before looking at an old woman who sat down in my passenger seat. "Can I help you?" I asked and she gave me a small smile.
"Hi, I couldn't help but notice that you were parked here for hours. Are you okay?"
I nodded my head and she sighed. "You're a young girl, you've clearly been crying," she added and I sighed loudly.
"I'm fine."
"No you're not," she replied.
I silently wondered why she even cared.
"I live right there," she said, pointing to a house opposite where my car was parked. "I thought you would go just soon but you have been here literally for hours. Do you need anything?" She asked and she had concern written all over her face.
"No thank you," I replied and she nodded her head.
"What's your name?" She asked.
I silently wondered whether I should give her my real name or a fake one. But she looked harmless and she was clearly in her old ages. "I'm Addison," I said and she smiled at me.
"I'm Cathy," she said. "I live alone so if you need someone to talk to then you can come on-"
"No thank you," I said cutting her off.
"What seems to be the matter?" She asked and I sighed loudly.
"I'm just having a bad day," I answered and she nodded her head.
"Wait are you Addison as in Josephina O'Grady's daughter?" She asked and I raised my eyebrows at her.
"Yeah," I said softly.
"Your mother is a darling," she said but I didn't say anything. I would probably agree but with the conversation I had withh er this morning, I was not going to agree with that.
"How do you know her?" I asked quietly.
"She uses my flower shop for some photo shoots with her clients sometimes," she said and I nodded my head.
My phone started ringing and it was Isabella probably hassling me about where I was.
"I'll leave you to it Addison but if you ever need anyone to talk to and you want to get away from your life, don't ever stay alone in a car when anything could ever happen. You come straight to my house okay?" I smiled at her because she was pretty cool.
"I will."
"Promise me?" I chuckled at her and said "I promise."
She nodded her head as she opened the car door. She turned around to look at me and said "take care."
"I will."
I watched her leave my car and I took a deep breath pulling msyelf together before driving away.
It took me twenty minutes to arrive at Isabella's house. I rang the doorbell and saw that Lana opened the door.
"What are you doing here?" I asked and she sighed.
"Issie invited me."
"Issie?" I mocked.
Isabella raised her eyebrows at me as she appeared beside her. "Are you going to let me come in or what?"
She whispered something to Lana before Lana walked away from us. "Pull yourself together," Isabella said through gritted teeth and I sighed as I looked at her.
"Whatever," I said emotionlessly as I started walking away bit she grabbed my hand
"No it isn't just whatever, you're coming in here whether you like it or nor.
I hated the fact that I was taking my anger out on people who didn't deserve it. I was missing Chase too much and it was actually killing me.
She pulled me inside and I walked into the living room to see Veronica talking to Lana. "Look who came," Isabella said looking at Veronica.
She looked up at us and said "hey." I didn't say anything because I didn't want to be here. "Someone's still pissed," she commented.
"Shut up Veronica," I snapped and Isabella grabbed my hand pulling me upstairs into her room. "Are you sure Lana won't mind?"
"I am ignoring that," she said as she pointed her finger at me and I just shrugged my shoulders.
I sighed as I sat down on her bed and covered my face with my hands.
She sat down next to me and wrapped her arms around me and I buried my face into her neck. "What's made you angry?" She asked and I sighed loudly as I just took a deep breath.
"I miss Chase," I mumbled and she sighed as she stroked my hair.
"So that is why you're so angry," she said to herself and I hid my face into her hair.
I pulled away from her as I crossed my legs over. She intertwined her fingers with mine and looked at me. "It's okay to miss him-"
"It isn't okay, this is beyond missing him, I've barely spoken to him and my mom won't let me go to Boston."
Her face fell as she wrapped her arms around me and kissed my forehead. "You'll work this out, you both love one another."
"Don't Isabella," I said harshly.
"What?"
"I know you're trying to make me feel better and I really appreciate that but don't tell me stuff like that because it's what I want to hear. I am trying to be realistic."
She sighed as she pulled away from me and cupped my chin. "You and Chase will make it," she insisted and I rolled my eyes.
"The same Chase that has barely stayed in contact with me."
"He is an idiot if he isn't staying contact with you," she said and I gave her a small smile. "Is this why you ditched school today?"
"Yep, I'm such a coward aren't I?"
"No you're not don't say that," she replied instantly and I gave her a small smile. "You're not a coward okay, you just hide your feelings and then lash out," she replied and I sighed.
"Why are you even here right now?"
"Meaning?"
"Meaning you could do a lot more with your time than be here talking to me."
She rolled her eyes as she wrapped her arms around me again. "Do you ever get tired of putting yourself down?" She asked quietly and shook my head.
"No, not really."
"Why wouldn't I be here talking to you? Clearly you need a friend right now and no matter what crap you say to me, I'm not going to go anywhere. You always have a place here and you're welcome round any time, you know that."
"Thanks."
"You're welcome."
I pulled away from her and lied down on the bed. "You tired?" I nodded my head and sighed loudly.
She grabbed her duvet and put it over me. "Go to sleep okay," she said and I sighed, nodding my head.
When she left the room, I had no choice but to close my eyes and go to sleep.
******
I left Isabella's house and drove home.
Instantly I knew something was wrong.
My mom was waiting by the door with two suitcases packed and I looked at her with raised eyebrows. "It isn't fair, why do you and dad get to on holiday but I can't even visit-"
"Let me speak," she said instantly and I closed my mouth.
My dad stood next to her and the house was unusually quiet.
"Chase's mother called," my dad started and I raised my eyebrows at them.
"So?"
"Chase and Spencer were in a car accident," my dad said and I gasped loudly. "You and your mom are going to Boston."
My entire body felt frozen and I didn't even know what say to them.
"Do we go now?" I asked and they nodded their heads.
"Come on," my mom said as she grabbed my hand and we walked out of the house, into the private jet.
My mom started talking to the pilot. It was a different one which I didn't even know the name of.
I sat at the back with my hood on my head and rested my head against the window, not even knowing what to say.
How the hell did this happen?
"Honey," my mom said as she sat down next to me and wrapped her arms around me.
I buried my face into her chest as I allowed my tears to fall. "They are going to be fine Addison, they are two strong people-"
"Please don't," I said quietly and she sighed loudly as she wrapped her arms around me, kissing my head.
I didn't know how long I was tangled up in her arms but I couldn't bring myself to move.
She stroked my hair as I closed my eyes, still hiding my face in her neck.
My mother began talking on the phone to someone, canceling some things as she traced patterns all over my forehead.
After a few minutes, she hung up and then looked at me. "I love you," she said softly and I looked up at her.
"I love you too."
She kissed my cheek and just held me while I cried into her chest.
I silently wondered if this would have happened if I had gone to Boston.
*****
We got out of the jet and my mom called Blair who drove us to their house.
It was a huge house and I wasn't going to deny that.
"Mom can we just go the hospital?" I asked impatiently.
"Don't you want something to eat-"
"No I want to go the hospital," I snapped and she sighed before nodding her head.
"I'll drive you both," Blair offered as he took us to the hospital.
My mom saw Chase's dad outside so she went to talk to him while I walked inside.
I asked for his room number and a nurse told me where he was.
When I walked in, I saw Chase lying on his back with Madison on top of him as they kissed.
With tongue.
I felt bile rising up my throat as I walked back out and then asked the same nurse for Spencer's room number.
She gave me the direction and realise it was slightly near Chase's.
I still couldn't get over what I had seen.
I could feel tears stinging my eyes causing it to burn. Surely if they were like that then they were open and everyone knew about it. Everyone except for me.
This was probably why he didn't bother returning my calls or texts.
Suddenly everything clicked.
Slowly I walked into Spencer's room and Jade gasped once she saw me and quickly hugged me but because of my thoughts I couldn't bring myself to hug her back which she noticed as she pulled away from me. "What's wrong?" She asked.
"One of my best friends and boyfriend are in hospital Jade, what do you think?" I snapped and her face fell.
I really couldn't bothered to deal with any of these people.
These people were the ones I had called my friends but if Madison could do something like this then so could anyone.
I had officially lost hope.
I walked away from her and sat down on a chair as I crossed my legs over.
"Addison," she started but I ignored her.
All I wanted was for Spencer to wake up and then I was going back to San Francisco.
"Addie," she said quietly and I looked at her.
"Don't say my name," I said coldly and she just looked confused.
"What have I done?"
"You should know," I retorted.
My mom and Chase's dad walked inside. "Addison!" My mom said as she glared at me. "Why haven't you gone to see Chase yet?" I could feel the tears stinging but I refused to cry in front of these people.
"Why are you even her mom?" I asked.
"Addison I know you're upset but don't talk to your mother like that-"
I stared at Chase's dad in disbelief. I knew he knew about Chase and Madison. He knew everything about Chase.
"I'm sorry who was even talking to you?" I snapped.
"Addison!" My mother said warningly.
"No what are you even doing here? This isn't Chase's room," I said sarcastically and my mother said something to him before he walked out.
"A word Addison," my mother said sternly and I rolled my eyes before walking out with her.
She pulled me to an empty corridor as she got a coffee and looked at me. "What is your problem?"
"I don't have one," I said and she rolled her eyes.
"Don't lie to me. If you keep this attitude up then we can just leave," she snapped and I didn't say anything.
I wanted to tell her but I didn't want her sympathy so I kept it to myself.
"Go and see Chase," she said and I sighed.
"I'll see him after."
She grabbed my hand and I pulled it out of her grip. "He is your boy-"
"You're getting really annoying mother," I replied rudely before walking away from her.
Jade and Kevin were in the room together.
Kevin looked upset but that was obvious seen as his girlfriend was in hospital.
"Jade," I said and she looked at me, surprised that I acknowledged her.
"Yeah?"
"We need to talk," I said in my coldest voice.
"I'm staying with Spence," she replied.
"Oh I'm sorry Jade," I sarcastically said, "I wasn't asking. I was telling."
"I'll tell you if there is a change," he said to her and she nodded her head before following me out into a clear area.
"You love me right?" I said and she raised her eyebrows at me.
"What sort of question is that?"
"Just answer it," I replied with an eye roll.
"Yes of course I do."
"Are Madison and Chase together?" I asked and she sighed loudly. "Yes or no."
"Yeah," she replied and my whole word came crashing down.
I walked out of the hospital because I felt claustrophobic.
"Hey," she said as she grabbed my hand.
"Jade," I said quietly and she sighed. "Why didn't you tell me? Have you all been laughing about this behind my back?" I asked and she sighed, wiping my tears away.
"No of course not," she said instantly and I could see that she was offended.
"So why didn't you tell me?"
"How could I? This would have broken you!"
"I'm ten times more broken right now!" I said with more tears in my eyes and she sighed loudly as she pulled me in for a hug and I pulled away quickly. "No, you don't get to comfort me," I snapped.
"Spence and I cared okay, we completely cut off Chasse and Madison because of this. We just couldn't tell you over the phone."
I sighed loudly as I wiped my tears away. This whole thing wasn't worth my tears.
"All this time I was turning offers down and here they were, behind my back."
"I'm so sorry," Jade said and I shrugged my shoulders.
"Too little too late," I replied emotionlessly and she took a deep breath.
"Ads-"
"Tell my mom I left the hospital because I had a headache and you better not tell anyone that I know because I swear to God if you do Jade-"
"I won't," she insisted.
"And how do I know I can trust you?" I snapped rudely.
"That's offensive Addison. How freaking dare you? I get it okay you are hurting but me and Spence have always been on your side, from day one and here you are leaving when Spencer needs you the most."
I rolled my eye sat her and sighed loudly. "You don't get to guilt trip me Jade," I said harshly before walking away.
How the hell could I have been so stupid?
