24|Chase

CHAPTER 24

Dear Chase

Is it just me or our letters getting depressing?

I know you love me just like I love you.

You made Madison, Piper and Leticia send me letters! Wasn't that a little bit desperate? You even made then sign it off the way you do it. You're an idiot Chase but you are my idiot.

Anyway I know its Valentines day and I'm sorry I'm not in Boston. It's going to suck for me just as much as it is going to suck for you.

Anyway, I have a plan for valentines evening.

We filmed a movie, just the two of us so we could watch it when we got old. I think now is the time to watch it. The copy is inside the envelope Chase, you better watch it because I will be asking you questions.

Now maybe Valentine's Day doesn't have to be so depressing.

Take care.

P.S I miss you.

Valentine's Day was in four days.

Four miserable days.

There was going to be a huge party in school. I didn't know what I was going to do but now I just made my plan. Well Addison made it for me but I wasn't complaining.

Lately, Addison and I hadn't spoken which made me realise just how much I missed hearing her voice.

We would usually stay on the phone even though we were too tired to speak but lately we weren't even doing that.

I missed her and no amount of words were enough to express it.

But at the same time I wasn't feeling as depressed as I probably would have because Madison was working with me on this project.

We were so determined to make sure it rocked that we spent every single day together.

This just made me realise how awesome Madison was. I knew that she was awesome because I knew her for ages but this was a different side to her. One that I hadn't seen.

"Guess who I spoke to!" I turned to look at Piper and raised my eyebrows at her.

"Eric?" I teased and she gave me a dirty look.

"Why would you even say that? I told you to guess!" She snapped and I rolled my eyes at her. There was no need to get all defensive.

"Well you do talk to Eric don't you?" I teased and she rolled her eyes at me.

"You are not funny Chase."

That was weird because Madison told me I was.I remembered what happened when we were discussing the project a few days ago.

We were working on our project in her room, discussing the novel. "What do you think about the love between Heathcliff and Catherine?" she asked and I raised my eyebrow at her.

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"Do you think they should be together or not?" she asked.

"What do you think?" I asked curiously.

"I think they should be together," she replied and I raised my eyebrow at her.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah."

"Why?"

"Because whether you like it or not, love is love and the love that Heathcliff and Catherine both have for one another is so strong."

"But Catherine can't marry someone that doesn't have the same class as her," I replied and she rolled her eyes.

"Yes but that's stupid. Love is love. I mean remember when she was ill and he came to visit her. All their conversations? All the interactions between one another. Yes, they both had partners that would have gotten hurt but they should have just gotten together there and then. You can't underestimate the power of love."

"People get hurt Madison," I answered and she moved closer to me.

Suddenly, there was a brief silence in the room and everything about her became visible. The tiny freckles that were all over her face. .Her dark brown eyes that hypnotised you, making you fall under her spell. Her tanned skin that shined against the sunlight.

"Did you hear what I said?" she whispered and I narrowed my eyes at her.

"What did you say?"

"Maybe if you weren't undressing me with your eyes," she teased and my breathing hitched.

Was she just playing with me?

"Relax I'm kidding," she said and I looked at her. "I said if you just put others before you when it comes to love then you'll never be happy."

She whispered that and that sentence made my stomach tingle with butterflies.

This was wrong.

"Are we talking about us or the fictional characters?" I asked and she moved away.

"You can answer that question for yourself," she replied before she began tapping away at her computer.

I noticed the way she bit her lower lip and the way her eyebrows were slightly raised whenever she was really concentrating on something.

I couldn't be here right now. I needed to leave.

I stood up and grabbed my backpack. "Where are you going?" she asked with an annoyed facial expression on her face.

"I have to get home, I need to babysit," I said and she raised her eyebrows at me, looking through me like she silently knew that I was lying. "I'll see you at school."

I quickly left the house without waiting for her reply.

"Chase!" Piper yelled, getting my attention as I looked at her.

"What?"

"I have been trying get your attend for like ten minutes." I raised my eyebrows at her over exaggeration.

"Ten minutes? Really Pipes?"

"Fine, five then," she replied and chuckled. "Anyway seen as you aren't going to guess I will just tell you. I spoke to Addie."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah."

"What did she say to you?"

"She liked the letter and stuff," she replied shrugging her shoulders but she had a huge smile on her face and I knew she was happy.

"Hey," Jade said as she looked at me and I sighed in relief because I thought she was starting to hate me.

"Hi, it's about time you spoke to me Jade. I already lost Addie I don't want to lose a friend too."

Piper shoved my arm playfully. "You haven't lost her Chase," she replied.

Jade didn't say anything, she just wrapped her arms around me and I returned the embrace. A hug was definitely what I needed right now.

When we pulled away, I saw Madison looking straight at me. She didn't say anything and her eyes were not telling me what she was feeling.

"What are you guys doing on Friday?" Piper asked as she linked her arm with Madison's.

Friday was the day of the Valentines party.

"I'm staying at home," I replied and they all looked at me.

"It's a party," Jade said in an obvious tone.

"But I don't want to go," I replied and she rolled her eyes.

"Come on Chase it's bad enough with Addison being in Boston, you need to go. You need to go for the both of you," Piper said and Jade nudged Madison, telling her to say something.

"They're right," she said as she looked at me. "Who knows what will happen?"

Did that sentence have another meaning behind it? I could never tell with Madison.

After nearly ten minutes of them trying to persuade me to come, I finally decided I would.

Piper and Jade walked to class together and I could feel my insides tingle when Madison stepped closer to me. "We need to talk," she said and I sighed loudly.

"I'm with Ads," I replied firmly.

"If that's so, why are you giving me these signals?" she asked defensively. "Why do you look at me like I'm the only girl in the world?"

I clenched my jaw because I didn't want her to confront me about my feelings.

"We are not talking about this right now," I said through gritted teeth.

I walked away from her and quickly turned a corner. The hurt look in her eyes didn't go unnoticed by me but I couldn't do anything.

I needed time and space.

God I was screwed.
