CHAPTER 21

"I need a job," Isabella muttered.

I was trying to do my Calculus homework because it was due for tomorrow.

"Are you even listening to me?" she asked as she sat down on my bed. She had been ranting about something but I wasn't really paying attention.

"Bels I'm trying to do my homework," I replied and she clenched her jaw.

"Okay fine," she said quietly and I closed my book.

"Okay it's gone," I said throwing my book on the floor and she rolled her eyes, picking my book up and gave it to me.

"No, do your homework," she replied.

"I'll do it later, come and tell Addie what you have been saying for the past hour." She glared at me and I gave her an innocent smile.

"You mean you haven't been listening?"

"The homework was really hard," I replied and she rolled her eyes at me as she gave me a death stare.

I pulled her closer to me and she sat down on my lap. "Seriously, what were you saying?"

"My mother left," she said and I looked at her.

"What?" I gasped.

"She just packed her bags and left," Isabella repeated. "She didn't say where she was going, this posh man came to pick her up though," she said quietly.

I wrapped my arms around her and she buried her face into my neck. "Seriously you deserve better."

"I don't-"

"No I am not going to listen to you talking bad about yourself okay." She sighed but nodded her head.

"I don't get it, what the hell could I have done for my own mother to hate me so damn much. I mean I know I am a handful but I just don't understand it-"

"You shouldn't need to understand it. She shouldn't be neglecting you like she has Bels and I'm sorry if this comes across as rude but I don't care. She has an amazing daughter that she has been blessed with and she takes that for granted. There are people out there in the word dying to have kids and she just throws it away. If that is not selfish then I don't know what the fuck is."

She sighed loudly as I wiped her tears away and kissed her forehead.

"I need a job Addison-"

"When do you turn eighteen?" I asked.

"In two months," she replied.

"So you just need to work for two months-"

"We're badly in debt because of her alcohol problem. The money my dad left for me was supposed to be for college. I think I should sell the house and just get a flat-"

"You're talking nonsense," I replied as I stroked her hair. "We'll get you a small job that pays amazingly well."

"Where am I supposed to find a job like that?" she snapped, panicking and I smirked.

"I have an idea."

"What?"

"My mother works in the modelling industry. She could get you a job as something and make sure you're a star." She rolled her eyes as she pulled away from me.

"Yeah right Addie, that's a funny joke," she said with a small smile.

"I'm not my joking, my sister is a model and gets paid a lot. My other sister rejected my mother's offer and became a doctor instead. I don't want to be anything-"

"You have another sister?" she asked and I sighed. I never spoke about her because we weren't really on speaking terms. She had just left with her husband even though she promised to visit but it had been five years and no visit.

"Yep, she's twenty five," I replied and she took in this news. "Anyway are you interested?"

"Why wouldn't you want fame? Everyone wants that."

"I don't. She's always tried to get me into the singing industry but I always rejected it."

"Do you write songs?" she asked curiously and I didn't say anything. "Aw Ads there is nothing to be embarrassed about," she added and I rolled my eyes at her.

I smiled gratefully at her. "So do you want me to tell her? She'll get you fame and money in a second and this way I'll be helping you and it gets her off my case." She chucked as she rolled her eyes at my comment.

"Yeah," she replied and I smiled at her. "Thank you Addison."

"You're welcome, let's go and tell her."

I stood up, pulling her with me and we walked into the kitchen where my mother was looking at her iPhone.

Adrianna was out and Greyson and my dad went to play football.

She looked up at us and said "Isabella, are you staying for dinner?"

"Yep," I replied before she could even answer and she nodded her head.

"Okay," my mother said.

"You know how you've always been harassing me about being a singer or a model or something?" I said looking at my mother who rolled her eyes.

"I did not harass you," she replied instantly.

"You did."

"Addison!" She warned and I smiled.

"Okay, well Isabella here is interested in it." Her eyes widened as she looked at Isabella.

"Are you seriously interested or is Addison making lies up?" I gasped because that was offensive but Isabella chuckled.

"No I am interested."

"Okay I'll be your manager then," my mother said and Isabella smiled.

"Don't worry she isn't like normal managers who take all your money," I said and my mother slapped my shoulder softly giving me a death stare.

"Shut up Addison."

"I'm just saying, good luck," I said and my mother clenched her jaw.

"Leave this room," she said through gritted teeth and I rolled my eyes.

"But-"

"No, now. Isabella and I need to talk. You can join us for dinner like the rest of the family." I rolled my eyes before leaving the room.

My phone vibrated and I looked at it to see a text from Veronica.

Saturday. –V

I called her and waited for her to answer. "I'm sorry what is Saturday?" I mocked and she chuckled on their other end.

"My party," she replied.

"Oh that shit thing?"

"Shut up," she replied but I could tell she was smiling on the other end.

"Anyway are you excited?" I asked and she sighed.

"No, I become an adult what the hell is there to be excited about?" I laughed at the way she decided to put it.

"You are an idiot. You know that right?"

"Shut up," she replied again. I heard shuffling on the other end before she spoke, "I'll call you back later I have to go."

"Okay then," I replied and she hung up.

Veronica didn't seem that bad, she had Luciana's exact same personality and I could see why she hung around with her. She fit in with the group easily.

The door opened and my dad and Greyson walked inside with Tabitha. "Where were you guys?" I asked, looking at them.

"Out," Greyson replied.

"Out doing what?" I raised my eyebrows at them and my dad shook his head at me.

"Tabitha are you staying for dinner?" he asked and she smiled, nodding her head.

"If that's okay?"

"Nonsense it is fine," he replied and I smirked.

"So are you two serious then?" I asked, looking at Tabitha and Greyson. My dad slapped my head softly but I glared at him.

"Don't ask silly things how many times have I told you that?"

"Silliness runs in my genes dad, I got it from you." Tabitha laughed but Greyson and my dad were not amused.

The door opened and Adrianna walked inside. "Why are you standing here?" She asked, looking at us.

"These people are just a bit dopey." She laughed at my comment and rolled her eyes.

She grabbed my hand and pulled me down the hall. "Thank God for taking her away!" My dad said loudly and I turned around to glare at him.

"What Ri?" I asked and she smiled at me.

"Don't get mad," she said quietly.

"Just tell me."

"Adelyn called me," she said and my eyes widened. Adelyn was our older sister who just left.

"We don't want her here," I snapped and she rolled her eyes at me.

"Come on Addison don't overact," she warned and I sighed loudly.

"I don't want her here-"

"But she is going to come whether you like it or not and I want to prepare you okay?" I rolled my eyes and she cupped my chin.

"When?"

"When what?"

"When is she coming?"

"In a few days."

I sighed, not even knowing what to say so she wrapped her arms around me and I nestled my face into her shoulder.
