20|Chase
CHAPTER 20
"Honey can you take your sister to the park?" My mother asked and I nodded my head.
It was Saturday and I would have loved to do something else but I was doing this instead.
"Rosemary we're going to the park," I said when she came into the living room and she looked at my mother who nodded her head. She squealed before going to get her bike.
"How's Addison?" she asked.
"She came to Boston a week ago."
"Addie came to Boston?" Rosemary walked inside with a hurt look on her face and I silently cursed myself.
"Rosemary-"
"She came and she didn't come to see me?" she asked and she was clearly hart.
Oh God.
"It wasn't like that-"
"So what was it like?" she asked in a rude tone.
"She came but it was literally for one day and she'll see you when she visits again I promise." She just shrugged her shoulders before looking at me.
"Can we just go?" she asked and I sighed before nodding my head.
"Chase." I looked at my mother and sighed. "What happened between you and Addison?"
"We're okay," I replied. "She literally came for one day and she only came because the girls were ignoring her. She didn't think of Rosemary, she would have made time for her if she remembered." My mother gave me a knowing smile but she did know Addison and she did love her. My entire family did.
"You miss her don't you?"
"Yeah," I said quietly and she stood up, wrapping her arms around me and I returned the embrace, not wanting to cry.
She pulled away to cup my cheeks using both of her hands as she looked at me. "Don't give up on her okay? Your father and I went through a long distance relationship and yes it was rough but at the end of the day it made us ten times stronger. Don't do anything to jeopardize this relationship." I nodded my head and kissed her cheek.
"Thanks."
"You're welcome, now don't keep your sister waiting," she playfully scolded and I smiled before walking out of the house.
Rosemary was putting her helmet on when I stood next to her. "Ready?"
"Yep."
"You know Addison didn't mean to hurt you," I said and she shrugged her shoulders.
"Well she did."
"Rosemary-"
She just ignored me and started cycling in front of me. I knew she was upset because she really did love Addison.
I remember a time when the three of us were spending the day together.
"Let's watch Barbie Addie!" Rosemary squealed as she looked at Addison who brushed her hand in her dark locks. I had known she was uncomfortable as she used to do that whenever she was uncomfortable.
"How about we do something else?" she suggested and I didn't say anything. I was excluded from this conversation the moment that Rosemary suggested Barbie.
"Like what?"
"I don't know, how about baking a cake?" Addison said wrapping her arms around Rosemary.
"Chocolate cake?" she said with a smile making Addison chuckle.
"Of course," Addison relied as she stroked her hair, making her smile.
"Yay!" She said as she got up and ran up the stairs to get changed.
"Are you seriously going to cook with her?" I asked and Addison smirked at me as she sat down on my lap and wrapped her arms around my neck.
"Yes I don't break my promises Chase, you should know that," she replied with a wink.
I place my hands on her waist and held her tightly. "She loves chocolate cake."
"Just like her brother," she whispered against my lips and I chuckled. She rested her head on my shoulder before whispering "you're helping us too you know that right?"
I scoffed as I just looked at her. "No thank you."
"I'm being serious Chase you're helping. Do you really think I'm going to let you just sit on your lazy ass and not do anything but eat the cake later On? If you think that then then you don't know me at all."
"Addison-"
"No arguments."
I was about to say something else in protest but she cut me off by kissing me passionately and I brought my hands up to cut the back of her neck.
"Ew!" We pulled away once we saw Rosemary and Addison blushed before getting off my lap.
"You ready to cook with me Rosie-bear?"
Rosie giggled and nodded her head before grabbing Addison's hand leading her into the kitchen.
I sat down on the bench as I crossed my legs and Rosemary started cycling to one of her friends.
"Hey." I looked up to see Leticia and Madison both together.
"What are you guys doing here?"
"We went for a walk," Madison replied, "what are you doing here?"
"I had to bring my sister to the park," I replied and they sat down beside me.
"Which one is your sister?" Leticia asked and I pointed to Rosemary. "She looks like you," she replied and I gave her a small smile. Everyone said that.
"When do you want to work on our project?" Madison asked and I smiled at her.
"Is someone eager?" I joked and she rolled her eyes.
"Really Chase?" she mocked and rolled my eyes at her. It was just a joke.
"I am ready whenever you are." She smirked at me and folded her arms across her chest.
"How about now?"
"Okay then, we could work on it when we get to my place okay?" She nodded her head as she winked at me but I didn't think anything of it.
Leticia smirked at both of us and Madison looked at her. "What?"
"Nothing," she replied and I rolled my eyes.
Usually we could never get her to shut up about her opinion and here she was voluntarily being quiet.
"Suit yourself, it wasn't like I wanted to hear what you had to say anyway," Madison replied and Leticia scoffed as she playfully shoved her shoulder and her head landed on my chest.
She sat back up and Leticia gave a knowing smirk to Madison. "I'm going to go, I need to meet Jade," Leticia said.
"Can you please talk to her for me?" I asked and she raised her eyebrows at me. "I sort said some stuff to her and I apologised but she's still distancing herself from me. It's been four days." She chucked and nodded her head.
"I'll try but no promises."
"Thank you." She smiled at me and shrugged her shoulders before patting Madison's head and walked away from us. "What was all that?" I asked looking at Madison. She turned to look at me and narrowed her eyes at me.
"What was what?"
"You know what."
"Actually I have no idea what you are talking about," she replied and I chuckled.
"It looked like Leticia knew something I didn't and you two were basically having a silent conversation the entire time that I was here."
She shrugged her shoulders as she looked at me. "I think you're just imagining that." I scoffed as I shook my head at her.
******
"So what novel do we do our project on?" Madison asked as she sat down on my bed.
"You can choose."
"You can choose too you know, we are supposed to work on this together," she said in an obvious tone and I rolled my eyes anther.
"Fine, how about Wuthering Heights? I know you love that." A small smile tugged at her lips as she nodded her head.
"What do we focus on then?"
"You can choose that because I chose the novel."
She frowned at my answer and folded her arms across her chest. "Fine, how about love?"
"Okay, sounds good," I replied and she nodded her head.
"Great, it's nice that we finally agree on somehting."
Now all we needed to do was to get on with this project.
