2|Chase

CHAPTER 2

"Man please don't get all depressed and shit," Joel said as I sipped my vodka and I rolled my eyes.

"Shut up Joel," I snapped.

"Yes shut up Joel, Addie's last day is today and all you're doing is mocking him. He is bound to be upset. Even though now he's just sulking around," added Ben and I glared at him.

"Guys," Eric said. "Chase has a right to be upset." I sighed loudly as they spoke about me like I wasn't even there.

"Thank you Eric."

I couldn't get over the fact that Addison was leaving. How could she just be leaving?

Her dad had gotten a job offer in San Francisco which caused her whole family to move. Her younger brother and older sister didn't mind the fact that they were leaving but Addison did. "Where did you just go right now?" Eric said as the boys all looked at me and I shrugged my shoulders.

The last thing I wanted to do was to talk.

I should have been with Addison now but Maddison was acting all clingy. I didn't have anything against her, she was a great friend and she was awesome to be around but when she was drunk she was an utter nightmare.

I watched them and saw that Maddison was sitting on Addison's lap as she hugged her.

I wasn't the only one who was going to miss her.

*****

I was still at the bar but Joel was the only one who was there by my side.

I watched Eric and Addison who were talking, and saw that they were joined by Piper. "Why don't you go and talk to her?" Joel said and I sighed.

"She told me she wanted to wait till the end of the night." I sighed loudly as I took a deep breath.

"Okay so let's take your mind of this depressing night," he said and I smirked at him.

"Now you are talking."

We ordered another drink as we began to take shots.

Joel was plainly awesome to just put it shortly. I could always count on him to make me feel better.

The party was going even crazier. It looked like even more people were turning up.

"Why has she allowed these people to even come?" I asked and Joel laughed at my comment. "I'm being serious right now-"

"I know but this is the party of the century," he replied.

"I wanted a quiet night in," I mumbled and he smirked as he shook his head at my comment.

"Do you still want that?"

We both turned to look at Addison who was standing beside me. Her dark brown curls were hanging loosely over her shoulder and she looked as gorgeous as ever. Her hazel coloured eyes met mine and I could feel myself getting lost in them.

She was leaning on my shoulder and I put the glass down as I wrapped my arms around her. Finally!

"You can't leave your own party Addie," Joel disapprovingly said and I glared at him. This had nothing to do with him. This was her choice and I didn't want him influencing her like he usually did. That was how he rolled. He manipulated people to get what he wanted. He was not going to succeed this time.

"I don't even want to be here," she mumbled as she buried her face into my shoulder.

I brushed her hair away from her face and I kissed her temple.

I stood up beside her and wrapped my arms around her. She leaned her body against mine and buried her face into my chest. "We can just leave babe," I told her.

"Addie don't leave right now," warned Joel.

I pulled away from her to glare at him. "What Joel? I want some private time with my girlfriend is that so bad?"

He sighed as he looked at us.

"Fine," he grumbled.

He got up and stood beside Addison and gave her a hug which she returned. "Take care of yourself okay?" She sighed as she nodded her head aghast his shoulder.

They pulled away after a few minutes and Joel walked away, joining the others.

I slipped my hand in hers, lacing our fingers together and she smiled at me. "Have you said goodbye to them?" I asked, motioning towards the girls who were dancing by the dance floor.

"Yeah," she whispered.

She was clearly upset and I knew she wanted to cry.

The one thing about her was that she hated crying because it showed that she was vulnerable. She liked crying when people weren't around.

"Come on Addie let's get out of here," I said and we walked out of the club.

We left the budding and got inside my car.

She sighed as she sat in the passenger seat and instantly, the tears began forming in her eyes. "Baby don't cry," I said as I wrapped my arms around her and broken sobs began to escape her mouth.

"I'm sorry," she mumbled.

"Why the hell would you be sorry?" I asked quietly, stroking her hair.

"I just feel like I'm making everyone upset. I don't even want to leave." I sighed loudly as I looked at her. "I'm sorry."

"Don't be sorry Addison you have nothing to be sorry for," I said as I kissed her hair and she sighed loudly.

I wiped her tears away and placed a small kiss on her lips. "We're going to be fine aren't we?" She said quietly and I looked at her.

"Of course we are," I insisted.

She sighed as she pulled away from me. "But then that will mean a long distance relationship," she mumbled. "Are we even strong enough for this?"

"Yes of course we are," I replied.

It was hard not to get offended at her comment. It made me question if she wanted to break up. Four years of relationship was kind of hard to just throw away like it was nothing.

"I love you Addison."

"I love you too," she replied as she gave me a small smile.

She wiped her tears away and took a deep breath before sitting properly in her seat. "What do we do now?"

"What do you want to do?" I asked curiously.

"I don't mind."

"Babe it's your last day here, you should get to choose." She took a deep breath as she bit her lower lip. She only did that when she was deep in thought and I could tell that now was one of those times.

She looked breathtakingly beautiful.

"Can we just watch a movie and cuddle?" She asked. She had a small pout on her face and I smiled at her. "For old time's sake?"

"Of course we can," I replied and she sighed in relief.

*****

A few hours later, we were sitting on my couch, watching a movie.

"I want to give you something," I randomly blurt out.

This had been on my mind for a while. I wanted to give her the present that I had purchased for her but I was debating on when to actually give it to her but now it seemed like the perfect time.

She looked at me with a questioning gaze and I took a deep breath.

I handed her a velvet box. "Open it," I said quietly and she opened it. There was a ring inside that had a diamond in the middle. It did cost me a fortune but I wanted the best for my girl.

"We can't get engaged," she whined.

"Don't think of it as an engagement right Addie because when I do propose to you which I will," I said confidently and she giggled, "the ring will be even more beautiful, just like you." She blushed as she kissed my cheek. "It's a promise ring. I promise to not let our long distance thing get in the way of us. I promise to not let it define us. I promise that I will always be here to support you and love you no matter what-"

I didn't get to finish my speech because she crashed her lips into mine for a passionate kiss. She was placing all of her emotions into this kiss, which left us both breathless.

I took the ring, placing it on her finger which fitted perfectly. I kissed her hand and she smiled at me.

"I'm really going to miss you," she mumbled into my chest.

"I know I'm gonna miss you too but we'll call and text all the time, it'll be like nothing ever changed." She looked up at me giving me a grateful smile. She could tell that I was just saying all of this to make sure that she felt better.

"I love you Chase," she whispered.

"I love you more Addison."

"Impossible," she whispered into my ear and I chuckled.

That was our tradition.

I really hoped this long distance thing would work out because one thing I knew for sure was that I couldn't lose this girl.
