DEITY ( 데이티 ) , formerly known as PROJECT CAELESTIS , is a South Korean boy group formed and managed by CELESTIAL MUSIC , an independent music label acquired by JYP ENTERTAINMENT in January of 2023 . The group is currently composed of seven members : ADRIAN , ESMÉ , MASAMI , HONG , JAEMIN , YUTA && YOUNGRAE . Previously as eight , former member SUBIN left the group on June 12 2024 due to personal reasons . They made their debut on November 26 2023 with the mini album " DAY OF GODS " .

♱꯭⃬   ▩     GROUP   NAME   MEANING   ━━━   A " deity " is a god or a goddess in a polytheistic religion , such as in ancient Roman or ancient Greek mythology . As a result , the word is often associated with something divine or otherworldly , representing beings of higher , more universal status than the average human being . As a group name , it is supposed to represent exactly that , while also meant to hold a sullen feeling to it in connection with the groups rather dark concept . A " deity " in that sense is something divine , yet scary and possessing , representing the concept as something bigger than the group itself .

When coming up with the fandom name , member ESMÉ said they wanted to embody something " unusual " , something that contradicts itself , as " saints " are usually brought into relation with light , while " midnight " embodies darkness .

002   ⎯⎯    Often regarded as one of the most quiet and shy members , ESMÉ actually didn't want to be the leader of the group , but agreed anyway after he won four of the five internal votings the group did to choose a leader . He says he still wouldn't be able to do it by himself if it wasn't for ADRIAN helping him out
003   ⎯⎯    He used to be a semi - professional figure skater and competed in several national contests . However , he says that he has lost his passion for the sport and couldn't even enter the ice for a while , but he now likes going ice skating from time to time again just for fun
004   ⎯⎯    He is the member most involved in the writing of their drama " Crescent " . He has helped in the writing of every main character as well as coming up with a general direction for the drama itself
005   ⎯⎯    In the drama he plays a character named Haruka , a kind but self - destructive high school student , the first main character to appear in the series out of the seven . When coming up with his character , he wanted to embody something that " reflected a part of himself " and someone who like felt like " a retelling of his thoughts and feelings during a though time in his life " to himself , while also tying it into the concept of the series in a way that makes sense
006   ⎯⎯    He is very open about his past struggles with his mental health and self - harm specifically , saying " it's just as much a part of me as the food I ate yesterday "
007   ⎯⎯    He can't cook , but considers himself the biggest foodie in the group . Not that he eats a lot , he actually eats less on average than the other members , but he is the only one not at least a little bit picky about his food

002   ⎯⎯    He is half - German and half - Korean , although he feels a greater connection to Germany and it's culture as he had never been to South Korea prior to moving there to become a trainee . Once he retires , he wants to move back to Frankfurt and have a balcony garden
003   ⎯⎯    His character in the series is named Hyeonu , a popular yet alienated teenager who is the second main character to appear and the first one Haruka meets out of the other six . He said that the hardest part of playing Hyeonu was in acting out and convincingly portraying his infatuation towards Haruka . He had troubles with that specifically , because he found it hard to act this way towards ESMÉ , who plays Haruka , as it is his first acting project and because it is very different from the way he sees the other in real life

Most notably C9 Entertainment , where he was part of the pre - debut lineups for CIX and EPEX , but he ended up being cut from both groups before leaving the company in 2021

If he could , he would just rot in his room all day and make choreographies or practice his shouting , but instead , ESMÉ keeps dragging him out to do chores or go shopping with him . ESMÉ has said that he mostly does it to " prevent them from getting a noise complaint from the neighbors "
004   ⎯⎯    He is the only shouter in the group . He says that he gets a lot of comments about how people thought he would be this gloomy && scary guy because of his metal screaming in their English songs , but were surprised about how he actually is . According to people online , he is then one with the biggest duality in the group . He thinks that people should define what or who you are based on what you present stage
005   ⎯⎯    In " Crescent " , he plays a character named Kazuki , an extroverted and energetic student whose intense emotions can manipulate the weather . Although the character hasn't properly appeared in the episodes that have come out so far , MASAMI said that playing him was a very interesting experience , especially learning how to portray emotions as intense as Kazuki experiences them
006   ⎯⎯    During filming of the music video for " BEWITCHED " , he said that they had to re - shoot a specific part in the choreo so much that he almost " broke his back " , in his words . He actually couldn't move for a few days and thought he would end up needing to sit out the comeback . Luckily for him ( and probably not his back ) , he was able to participate in the comeback as planned
007   ⎯⎯    He said he came up with his Instagram username when listening to metal music on his headphones and watching JAEMIN eat a whole stick of salami in the span of five minutes . It was kind of frightening , in his own words , yet " it gave him some kind of epiphany "

He is the third main character to appear and the first one Haruka ends up actually befriending . 001   ⎯⎯    He was born in Copenhagen , Denmark but has been " living somewhere in the Danish woods " until the age of 16 , when he ran away from his parents to live with his maternal aunt instead . He said that him and his parents were all considered dead at some point , because they went completely off the grid after he was born and he didn't existed beyond a birth certificate . He hasn't seen his parents since he ran away , but he doesn't really mourn that fact . He was adopted by his aunt since she was his " only " living relative in the country , since his parents are both still considered missing
002   ⎯⎯    He was recruited by a JYPE staff " for his looks " when he was 17 while he was wandering around in Copenhagen , where his aunt lived . He didn't know what Kpop was at the time , but he found the idea of going to a different country intriguing and he also really enjoyed singing , so he accepted the offer . His aunt actually moved to South Korea with him , because she didn't want him to be alone in a country he didn't know at all ( and because she was lowkey scared of him killing himself by accident )
003   ⎯⎯    Although he is half - Korean and half - Danish , he doesn't feel connected to either of those cultures or countries . He said that he " didn't have much cultural influences living in the woods " and that his father didn't even bother teaching him Korean properly
004   ⎯⎯    He was homeschooled by his mother , who was a high school teacher prior to going off the grid , so he doesn't really fall short in the education department . The other members said that he is also quiet smart and a quick learner , so he doesn't really have troubles in his daily life since he can adapt to things quickly
005   ⎯⎯    He , along with MASAMI , is considered to be the best in girl group choreographies . The duo also has a TikTok series where they do dance covers of girl group songs . He can use his phone just fine , but mostly just forgets to do so or even just charge it at all , which means he will often be unreachable . As for social media , he only really uses Instagram , mostly to watch cat videos and post photos on his account when their manager tells him to , otherwise he would forget to do that as well

When asked , YUTA said that he just doesn't really like talking , since he is more of a listener . He likes expressing himself more via actions and would rather write text messages than talk , since he feels like it helps him express himself better , especially in Korean

He tried out lots of things during his school days , like school clubs and other activities outside of school , but he found that his favorite activity always ended up being just sitting in his room and listening to , or creating , music , which is why he decided to become a musician . 004   ⎯⎯    He plays a character named Akira , who is the quiet boy in the back of Haruka's class . He said because Akira doesn't talk much , just like him , it was an easy task playing him , although YUTA had a little bit of trouble portraying him as menacingly as the director wanted him to , since just like the other members , it was his first time acting in such a project
005   ⎯⎯    Besides music , YUTA also likes writing poetry , although on a much less frequent basis than making music . He claimed that he picked it up after his father took away his laptop for a while , because he was sitting on it for way to long and was being " too loud " with his music . When he does , he likes writing poetry in winter while sitting by the Han River alone and breathing in the cold air . He says that it gives him peace

His average time of going to sleep is between 3 - 4am , even when they have schedules early in the morning and , while ESMÉ and their manager are trying their hardest to get him to sleep at a reasonable time , he just can't seem to sleep much earlier than that
007   ⎯⎯    He likes being alone , but since MASAMI became one of his roommates , he barely gets time to be alone . He has grown not to mind as much when it is MASAMI though , since he finds it much easier to express himself around the older . Only his parents are still holding onto calling him by his birth name , but he doesn't mind that too much
009   ⎯⎯    He used to be a volleyball player in middle and high school and he needed to learn how to play basketball from scratch solely for their drama , which he says was a funny experience because he was just really really bad at it when he first started
010   ⎯⎯    In Januray of 2025 , right after promotions for " BEWITCHED " had ended , a Twitter user posted a bunch of pictures from YOUNGRAE's old , private Instagram account of YOUNGRAE and his alleged boyfriend . Although the matter was ignored by the company for about two weeks , it quickly gained traction online , especially on Twitter an in Naver forums . Eventually , it gained so much attention , with comments on YOUNGRAE's Instagram account being flooded with many hateful comments , that he felt forced to come out as Bisexual to the public . After that , CELESTIAL MUSIC also posted a statement , announcing that YOUNGRAE would be suspending his activities for the time being to reflect on his past actions . Furthermore , they stated that they would take strong legal action against those sending threatening and defaming comments and messages against their artists . Additionally , he revealed that he had filed a retraining order against the person who he had been with during that time and who had , apparently , been stalking him after they broke up .
