Third Person's POV

Kaitlyn was sitting at the receptionist desk waiting for the Scarlett that had made her boss happy. That made her mind run back to her Scarlett.

The baby sister that had grown up so much, she had left long before any of them had even woken up. Their parents didn't seem surprised at the news that she had left early. Apparently, she was an early bird that liked going out early unlike the rest of them.

Her parents didn't ever say anything about Scarlett, not since she had left, but it was obvious they still had a relationship with her, they still adored her. Scarlett looked good, she looked better than good, she looked like some sort of model, absolutely flawless.

"What are you doing here?" Kaitlyn demanded, had her thoughts really just made Scarlett appear out of thin air? "You can't just walk into this building, my boss is ruthless."

Scarlett raised an eyebrow at her sister, she had never worked at the front desk, but she was sure they weren't meant to talk to anyone like that. "I have an appointment."

Kaitlyn scoffed. "Like I believe that, anyone making a fake appointment to catch a glimpse of my boss will be thrown out with security like everyone else that has tried. He has an appointment already booked, and it definitely isn't for you."

"Does this appointment happen to be for Scarlett by any chance?"

Kaitlyn took in her sister, she took in the business attire she wore that looked extremely high-priced, designer shoes, and the designer bag in her hands. She looked expensive, and then Kaitlyn thought back to the conversations he had with her siblings about Scarlett Vanderburg making thousands an hour. But now her sister went to Juvie. How do you become an influential lawyer at twenty-one, yet spend the most of your teen years locked in a cell?

Kaitlyn was just about to threaten security another time when a voice interrupted them. "Scarlett."

The sisters both spun to face the voice, there stood Silas Rothwell with his signature smirk playing on his lips, Scarlett easily returned his smirk with a more teasing version.

"Morning, Silas, how was your night?"

The man looked down trying to hide the blush that threatened to rise on his cheeks, and when he didn't feel like he was going to blush in front of the whole floor he looked up again and glared at the blonde who wasn't at all affected by his glare, she received worse on a daily basis.

Everyone on the executive floor looked between the two in shock as Silas pulled Scarlett into a hug. Sure, Silas was outgoing and friendly with everyone, but he was never that comfortable with anyone except Calix, but no one was more shocked than Kaitlyn.

"Are you here to see Cal?" Silas asks, and Kaitlyn frowned when Scarlett nodded. How did her sister get away with passing for someone so influential? Maybe she kidnapped the real Scarlett and was pretending to live in her place. But she didn't want to lose her job,, so she stood up ready to lead Scarlett to the CEO office. "Well, that's good, maybe he won't be so crabby."

Scarlett rolled her eyes at the man's teasing. "I'll see you later, Silas." Silas waved to the blonde, who followed after the receptionist.

Kaitlyn knocked on the door and entered the office, Scarlett waiting patiently behind her. "Sir, Miss Vanderburg is here."

Calix, like usual, hadn't looked up when she entered the room, and he normally didn't even look at clients. But when he heard Scarlett's name, not only did he look up, but he actually stood up and rounded his desk to greet her.

"Scarlett." He nodded, looking at her softer than Kaitlyn had ever seen.

"Morning Calix." Scarlett greeted back in a voice just a decibel over a whisper. "Sorry, I came a little early without notice. I was just going to wait in the reception until our meeting slot."

"It's okay, you're more than welcome here anytime." Kaitlyn was shell-shocked. Where was her boss, and who was in his place? Calix hated people taking more time than necessary and here he was volunteering time for Scarlett, of all people. She watched as Calix helped Scarlett take off her coat and direct her with a hand on the small of her back towards the conference table in the office, the man that hated physical touch by anyone. "You're dismissed, Miss Lawson."

Kaitlyn wanted to stay and watch their interaction, but she couldn't. Instead, as she left the room she took out her phone to text her siblings the news. On her way, she almost bumped into Silas Rothwell who was lurking around the office doors on a phone call. "He's being nice, Thalia, of course I'll help. I don't want your mother to murder me if she finds out I didn't help push the only girl her only son has ever shown any interest in and him together. Of course, I won't let you down. Hey, I'm not useless, and if you fly down here Cal will know what's up, and I do not want to face his wrath again. Come on, have I ever let you down? Wait, don't answer that."

No one heard the conversation other than her, since the CEO office was secluded away from everyone else. Kaitlyn felt like crying, she was overwhelmed, first her sister, then finding out the boss she has had a crush on for like four years has feelings for her sister.

Maybe they are all seeing things, Kaitlyn thinks to herself. After all she has always been prettier than Scarlett. Even though that was said to her years and years ago, it still applies, right?

Scarlett and Calix were finally alone. "I am really sorry, Calix."

"And I told you I don't mind it at all. The only thing I have until our original meeting time is one of my finance guys bringing me files." Calix assures. "You don't ever have to apologise to me."

Scarlett looked at Calix, how could she have ever thought he was scary? He is the sweetest human just doesn't show it, but he was showing her glimpses every so often. She had never been treated with so much care by anyone other than maybe her parents.

Scarlett shot Calix a shy smile before looking down at the files that now covered the table around them, so he wouldn't see her flushed cheeks. "Anyway, look here. These are the contracts I have drawn up for everyone working on your contract. I have modified the ones that you actually use to work for our contracts."

"Where do you even find people to go undercover in businesses?" Calix remarks, honestly pretty amazed at the fact. "Is this even legal?"

Scarlett shrugged, neither confirming nor denying that. Calix was once again taken aback with how passionate she was about her work, how her eyes were alight as they talked through the case, step by step,, so he understood everything and wouldn't get surprised. She was so determined to help him with everything.

"So we have our first trial, which is choosing a jury. I think we should get ten, maybe twelve, but more likely ten. These are normal citizens who are teachers and parents who have normal lives, we need to get them all on our side to convince them that Mr Fields is guilty. Then we have opening statements, you don't have to do anything there, that's all for me,, so you don't have to worry about all that. Then we have witness testimonies and cross-examinations, this will take weeks and weeks. Since it isn't a high priority case in the courts our dates won't be to put together, so it just gives us time to prepare evidence, that is where all our contacts come in. Then we have a closing statement again given by me after that our jurors will decide, and we will know."

Calix nods along, thoroughly impressed. "Will I have to testify?"

"If you want to, it will either help the case or not. If you want to, and it is totally up to you, then it will be one of the last testimonies and I will help you prepare for it."

"I'll do it if it helps." Calix nods.

"You might change your mind, so don't promise me anything yet."

Calix wanted to argue, but chose against it. If it helped he was one hundred percent going to do it, but he understood where Scarlett was at, she didn't like false promises.

A knock sounded around the room and Calix went to get it, coming back with a paper bag. He took out a couple of packages.

"What's all that?" Scarlett asked, finally turning away from the document she was typing up on her laptop and noticing what Calix was doing.

"I promised you lunch, didn't I?"

"Yes, lunch. Not enough meals for like a week." Scarlett exclaims, taking in all the options but Calix just shrugged.

"I didn't know what you liked, but you did mention on Saturday you liked Italian food."

"So you ordered their whole menu?"

"Their vegetarian menu." Scarlett's heart melted right there, and then she had never in her life met someone as attentive and caring as Calix Radcliff was, even if he hid it under multiple layers.

"What about you?"

"There is enough for both of us, isn't there?" He teased and Scarlett blushed, there were more than enough for both of them.

"But you still eat meat, you don't have to eat vegetarian because I do."

"I don't mind, choose what you want to eat first." And she did take a small amount of each dish that looked appealing to her, then Calix dished for himself, making sure to leave enough of the food she did take in case she wanted seconds of it. "Is it good?"

Scarlett nodded her head quickly, while they were eating, they had migrated from the table to the circle of couches. "It's incredible, next meal is on me, though."

"We'll see." Calix shook his head, there was no way she was paying for anything while he was around. "Come in."

Kaitlyn reappeared at the door, with Elliot behind her. "The representative from finance is here, sir."

She saw how close Calix and Scarlett were sitting to each other, even though there were multiple other seats on the large table. And the only time Calix ever ate lunch was when his mother forced him to or when he had a lunch meeting, otherwise he worked through lunch. But he still worked while he ate, so to see him actually sitting for a meal was odd.

Even though Elliot was warned his sister was going to be in that room, it still took him off guard, especially sitting so close to a male. He wanted to beat him up or give the Big Brother speech, but first his relationship with Scarlett was too rocky to do that and second this was his boss, there was no faster way to lose your job.

While Calix was dealing with Elliot, Scarlett's phone started ringing. "Hey Calix, do you mind if I get this?"

"No, go ahead. If you want to take it in private, there's an unoccupied room right through those doors."

Scarlett took him up on his offer, not because of him, but because of her siblings. When she was out of hearing range, she picked up the call. "Hey Mer."

"Hey darling, sorry to worry you when you are in a meeting, but I need some help."

"Sure what's up."

"One of our lawyers got extremely sick and had to be sent home. The only problem is that he is meant to be in court in a couple of hours,, and you're the only person I know who can learn a case quick enough to represent it today. We would have postponed it, but it's imperative that this case moves quickly."

"Yeah, what time's the trial, and send me the details?"

Scarlett couldn't help but feel disappointed that her time with Calix had come to an end. She still had a while before the trial, but she needed to learn every single detail of that case. Calix was alone again when she re-entered the room and immediately caught her expression.

"You have to go?"

"I'm sorry Calix, I have to go to court to cover for someone and have to memorize a ton of files and..." Calix didn't let her finish.

"Hey, hey. What did I say about apologising to me?"

"Not to."

"Exactly." He started helping her pack away all of their things,, and then he walked her out the door. "We can reschedule, when are you free?"

And they did, Kaitlyn wasn't at her desk when Scarlett passed, so she just left heading down the elevator. When she was out of the building, she caught a glimpse of familiar blondes. All four of her siblings stood outside the building watching her, then they looked like they were making their way towards her. She was just about to make it to her car when she heard her name being called out from behind her by someone else.

"Scarlett." Scarlett spins around, seeing Silas chasing after her. He holds a finger out to gesture that he needed a minute as he heaves, leaning his hands on his knees. Scarlett just watches him in amusement. "A couple of us are going out tomorrow night, you're welcome to come, Gen and Cal will be there."

"I actually have plans for tomorrow, sorry, Silas." Scarlett apologises, genuinely. "I'm going to have a rain check."

"It's okay, I think I'm going to have to book in advance if I ever want to hang out with you, Miss Busy." Scarlett laughs, Silas was cool, and she could see them becoming good friends. She slides into her seat and rolls down the window.

"See you soon, Silas." She watches his body move back into the building, and she catches her siblings still watching her, but she tells Benny to drive.

This is one of my favourite chapters that I've written so far, so what do you all think?

There will be more Calix and Scarlett content coming up soon, also what about the side characters. What do you think of Silas and Thalia's scheming?

Please vote and comment you Friday
