Chapter 19
It was Saturday afternoon, the gang were all in Marshall's basement getting ready for their dance rehearsal. Rocky looked up from talking to Zuma when Marshall came in. His bright smile lighten up the whole room. He met his gaze with Rocky and waved happily. Rocky smiled back and waved. The two had gotten more closer ever since a few nights ago.
'Flash back'
"We need to talk." Rocky said
"Alright, what about? Homework, school, Christmas. Oh, winter break is this week too." Marshall chuckled sheepishly
"Marshall...don't be like that." Rocky said sadly
"Don't be like wha-"
"Like nothing's wrong! Like I didn't do anything to hurt you." Rocky said loudly, but not loud enough for the others to hear.
"Look, Rocky. It's ok. What you said did hurt a little but-"
"Do you want to know where I've been last night?" Rocky whispered
Marshall widened his eyes a little "Rocky, you don't have to tell me. It's not my business."
"Yes it is!" Rocky yelled but calmed down "It is your business because this is your house and your rules. I was...I was visiting my dad."
"You did what?!" Marshall yelled but lowered his voice into a whispered "Rocky..."
Rocky ignored him and continued "I visited him. I told him about you adopting me. And he..." Rocky clear his throat from the sobs building up in his system "He called me a little gay bitch. He said he wants nothing to do with me and I shouldn't have visited him. For once, he was right. I thought that if I go to him, he would change but...um, he didn't."
"Rocky...none of that stuff is true. Your father is nothing but a bag full of shit. Nothing he says to you is always right. What you did was out of kindness." Marshall said, walking up to Rocky and laid a hand on his shoulder
Rocky looked away, blinking several times before looking back at Marshall "I'm so sorry...I took my anger and sadness out on you. I made you go through hell and for that I'm sorry."
"It's ok. I forgive you Rocks." Marshall said softly
"But why?!" Rocky asked, bewildered "How could you forgive me this easily? What I did was wrong. You took me in. You feed me. You gave me a home. A family. And all I didn't was put you in dog shit."
"I forgive you because I love you. Your my little brother Rocky, no matter how much you deny it. Yes, what you said hurt. But you came to apologize and I forgive you. Don't be so hard on yourself." Marshall said with a small smile, ruffling Rocky's hair.
"But Marshall, I said that you weren't my family! That you weren't my brother!"
"And do you still think that?"
"No...Your the best thing that's happened in my life beside Zuma. He's my everything, but you did so much for me." Rocky whispered, a tear dripping out his eye "And all I did was hurt you..."
"You didn't Rocky. You realized from your mistake and you grew from it." Marshall said, pulling Rocky into embrace "I'm not hurt anymore."
Rocky hugged back, leaning his head on Marshall's shoulder "I'm sorry..."
"It's ok." Marshall whispered, feeling a single tear run down his cheek "We're always gonna be there for you Rocky. I'm always gonna be there."
Rocky pulled away and sniffed "Thanks. That means a lot."
Marshall smiled and grabbed the tray from behind the counter "Alright, let's go and watch that movie. I've had enough of sappy emotions tonight."
Rocky chuckled "Same here."
'Flashback ended'
"Yo, Wocky!" Zuma yelled "It's time fow pwactice!"
"Right, right. Sorry Zumy." Rocky blinked, taking his hand.
"Ok guys! Me and Marshall are going to be teaching you the dance for today!" Skye said, taking the front with Marshall.
'Time Skip'
"And break!" Marshall called out.
Everyone, except Skye, collapsed on the ground in exhaustion "Finally."
"Guys, it wasn't that bad." Skye rolled her eyes as she helped Chase up.
"Speak for yourself. Now I know how my dad feels when I drag him to run with me." Chase groaned while rubbing his back, causing Skye to giggle.
A ring of a doorbell brought the group back to alert. Marshall turned to the others in confusion and ran upstairs. The others followed behind a little later, some had to catch their breath first.
Marshall opened the door, reveal a middle age lady. She had dark skin, her eyes were similar to Marshall's. She wore a dark red tank top and black pants with white sneakers.
"Hello? May I help you?" Marshall asked.
"Hi, I'm Christina. Is Zuma here?" Christina asked, her voice had a bit of accent in it.
"Yeah, come in. Would you like something to drink?" Marshall asked, stepping aside for the women to come in.
"Water please. Thank you...um," Christina trailed off.
"I'm Marshall. Zuma's in the living room with everyone else." Marshall smiled leading her in before walking in the kitchen.
Zuma stood as soon as he saw "Mom?"
"Zuma, we need to talk." Christina said with a serious tone.
"Uh oh. Am I in twouble? Cuz I sweaw, it was all Chase's idea-"
"Hey!" Chase yelled
Christina chuckled "No, none of that. We need to talk about the family."
Zuma tilted his head "What about them?"
"Well, this is very recent but you know John right?"
Zuma nodded "Yeah, your boyfwiend."
"Yes, well, we mad some sudden...changes today." Christina said, fidgeting with her thumbs.
"Did you guys break up?" Skye asked
"No young lady, more like getting closer." Christina sighed before looking directly at her son "Zuma, John asked me to marry him. And I said yes."
A round a gasps, Zuma being the loudest, echoed around the room "WHAT?!?!" Zuma yelled.
Marshall walked in, a cup of water in his hand "Uh, did I miss something?"
"Zuma's gonna have a step dad!" Rubble said
Marshall's eyes widened and he let the cup slip from his hands. A shatter of glass broke, followed by a splash of water, didn't break the shock and disbelief of the room.
"Holy mother of water." Marshall whispered, still in shock.
