✯Chapter 14✯
Thomas looked back and Alex, tapping his shoulder. He turned around and smiled. "Thank you for the talk..it was very much needed. I'll call you and tell you when we can start making the cake." He gave Thomas a quick hug and ran out the door. Thomas was beaming, excitedly jumping around the house, his heart swelling with an immense intake of joy. Alexander's hand was tingly and clammy, his heart racing. He pulled out his phone, rapidly dialing James. Once the call got connected, all Alex heard was a strong wind picking up. "James.." "Whassup?" "Feelings. Dorm. Now." James gasped, for this was a special code name he himself created for rare situations like this. "I'll be there in five."
And that's when Alexander realized that he had no ride home. He sighed. "I needed exercise anyway.."

Alexander walked into his dorm, his thoughts scattered as well as his feelings. His backside fell back against the wall as that heart thumping moment replayed in his mind on repeat. He groaned. "I giggled. When do ever giggle?" He threw his phone on the couch and walked down the hall, the warm magenta hoodie that smelled exactly like the person that he was trying to get out of his head, it somehow made him feel..loved. He knocked on the wall beside James bedroom door. "James..?" "Come iiiinnn!" Alex had an uneasy feeling about this upcoming conversation. He walked into the room, only to be—almost immediately—pushing into a chair. James, sitting on a chair across from him, had a notepad in hand, staring at his friend.
"Spill it, now." Alexander chuckled nervously. "I see you have everything set up already.." Every light in his room was shut off except for the little bright, white light from his lamp, creating a noir type of setting. James nodded. "Every since I saw the picture." Alexander furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "What picture?" "Of you and Thomas..? You probably haven't seen it." Alex shook his head. "Well, take a look." James handed Alexander his phone, getting one hell of a kick out of his face. "H-How did you-?" James squirmed in his seat excitedly. "Peggy took the picture before she left out for class today." Alexander fell back into his seat, his stomach in knots. "I heard Peggy saying something about you two messin' around, but I didn't know it was true! Why didn't you tell me!" "Because it's not true! He just invited me to stay for the night, it was only because he was out of it!"
"Mhmmm okaaay." He sighed in frustration, James obviously not fully taking him seriously. "You know I don't do shit like that!" "There's a lot of stuff I don't know about you. You even said it yourself, so no I don't." Alexander tripped and stumbled on his words, desperately trying to defend himself whilst James sat and mocked him. "Now look, you called me here to talk about your feelings, so, talk." Everything went silent, Alex's hands shook and he looked down, extremely nervous. James places his notebook and pen on his bed, knowing he wasn't really gonna get anywhere with this military tactic, he tried a different way. "I just wanna know what happened yesterday. Pleaaaaseee, for Jamieeeeeeee?"
"Alright alright." "Yesss!" James pressed the record button on his phone with subtlety, then clasped his hands together with listening ears. "I took you and Aaron home, then I took John, Peggy, and Thomas home. And on my way out, he asked me to stay and I did because I was already tired and I didn't wanna walk home by myself." James put his finger into Alexander's face, telling him to take a pause. "Wait a minute. I'm pretty sure John and Aaron were sober, so why couldn't John take us home? He was going to the same place as Thomas and Peggy, we were all in her car too." He smirked, catching him in somewhat of a loop hole. "See..I-I wasn't thinking about that.." James narrowed his eyes and gave him a sharp stare. "Mhm. Continue."
"I slept there...andIhadaweirddreamabouthim and then I woke up a-" James made a flat-noted yell, ending with him yelling the word 'stop'. "You really think your slick huh?Elaborate on said dream please." Alexander's eyes shut tightly and his lips pressed into a straight line, as he foolishly thought that he could slip anything past James Madison. "I had a dream..and it was..amative in a sense.." James cut him off. "You know I don't speak all that smart stuff, make it make sense please." "S-Sensual! There, I said it, you happy?" James pretended to ponder on the information that was given. His eyes widened as he comprehended what type of figment his was dealing with. "Ooooohhhh is it was that kinda dream.."
Alex placed his flushed face in his hands, the feeling of embarrassment only intensified the more James' smirk had grown. "Please..don't start." "Honey, you just gave me an open window and I'm jumping in. Now please, do tell about this dream." "I'd rather not, thanks." James rolled his eyes and sighed. "C'mon! Can't we be the best friends that we are and have a guy talk? I'll go first, so-" "And that's the end of that. Great story! Now let's move on because your not gonna get a word out of me." He crossed his arms and pursed his lips, waving him off. "Okay, okay. Let's hear it."
Alexander went on, but made it a point in his mind to specifically leave out his {gay panic} episode, not needing to cause more controversy. "So, I woke up and made him some tea to help him out with his headache, then something happened and he ended up on the floor. I helped him up then we went to the kitchen, I cooked some breakfast for myself, he complimented me on the way I look in his hoodie-" James gasped, finally seeing the blatantly obvious hoodie on Alexander. "Wow, couple goals already!" He starting clapping teasingly with a huge grin on his face. "James.." Alex started in a warning tone. "Okay okay, jeez."
"He asked if he could make an Angel cake with me and I said yes, and uhm..got a little emotional while opening up about some..stuff." "Did you tell him about when..the guy..?" He felt unsure about continuing the sentence. Alexander shook his head rapidly. "No! No! I didn't tell him too much.." He quaked slightly, thinking back to that memory. James nodded, giving him permission to carry on. "And then we mighta, sorta had maybe..just maybe-" "What..What!?" "..Nearly kiiisssseeed?" James smiled grew and his eyes broadened like he was charing up for high point. His fanatical expression slightly scaring Alexander, his high pitched squealing making it worse. It was as if someone's long and sharp fingernails were running along a chalkboard.
James had obviously thought that Alexander had taken a liking to Thomas, but wanted to hear it from him first. He took a few deep breaths and sat back down, allowing his heightened excitement to lessen. "Soooo, how do you feel about it?" Alexander threw his hands up. "That's the problem, I don't know! I'm so confused.." James thought for a moment. He didn't want to tell him how he felt and he also didn't want to assume anything. "When are you two meeting up again?" Alex sighed and rubbed his forehead. "I told him that I would call him and tell him when we could make the cake together. Why?" He quickly thought up a plan to try to help Alexander at least come closer to finding his feelings. "You have literally have nothing to do so-" Alexander put his hand on his chest, genuinely offended. "Yes I do!" "Like what?" James stared at him, wait for a response that never came, Alex having nothing good or actually true to respond with.
"Exactly. Now listen. Call him and see if he can come after school to make the stupid cake. Think over everything that's happened between the both of you. And tomorrow, after the whole thing is done, you can try to make your decision then. Obviously you like him, but you gotta figure it out yourself I guess.." Alexander raised his eyebrows, surprised with the great plan that James had concocted. "Wow, that's actually a pretty good plan." James hummed questioningly. "What..? Wait a minute, what's getting me is the 'actually'." Alex laughed. "I didn't mean anything by it, that's a good plan."
James grinned and looked away, waving him off. "Oh stop, your making me blush! I have a boyfriend ya know?" "Aaand, he's back." Suddenly, James' alarm rung loudly, notifying him that lunchtime in now over, and also irritating Alexander's sensitive ears in the process. "Sorry! I gotta go. And you better do what I told you to." James slung his backpack over his shoulder and grabbed his phone, ending the recording. "I will." Alexander stated as he followed James to the door. "Oh, and make sure not to ruin your only chance that you have at an actual love life!" He commented, shutting the dorm room door. "I'll try.."
He sat himself on the couch and curled up into a ball, his knees hugging his chest. He snuggled into the hoodie and smiled. Somewhat eager to show off his baking skills. But it wouldn't come to pass if he didn't plan it. He looked at his phone that lied on the couch next to him, his anxiety rising. He wasn't the best at communicating things, but he was gradually getting better, though this whole ordeal from earlier today unorganized his whole though process. He picked up the device and turned it on, scrolling through his contact until stumbling upon just the person he was looking for. He pressed Thomas' contact and hovered his finger over the call button. Just get it over with already!
He pressed the icon and placed the phone up to his ear. The longer it rung, the more nervous he had gotten. Until it had finally connected. "Hello?" The sound of a voice on the other line made Alex flinch. "Uhm..hey Thomas, it's Alexander." Once he realized who was calling, his tone became more joyful. "Hey! Whassup Alex?" "Uh, what are you doing tomorrow?" Alexander despised how he can never pick a key and stick to it when anxious. "Nothing, are we gonna bake the cake tomorrow?" Thomas asked excitedly, but corrected himself so he wouldn't sound so pushy. "Just asking! We don't have to, whenever you have time." Alexander snickered, rather relieved that he wasn't the only one who was slightly uneasy. "Actually, that's what I was calling about. Would you wanna come to the school tomorrow after classes and make it then?" "I would love to." Alexander pondered on a set time. "How about four?"
"Sounds good to me!"
"See you then, bye Thomas."
"Byeeee."
Alexander hung up, smiling at Thomas' farewell.
That wasn't so hard, was it?
