Chapter Twenty Seven

For a moon, peace managed to hold in the MudClan camp. Moonbeam only allowed two cats to leave camp at a time, because of the strong threat from Bloodshed. But, one morning, things seemed different. Owlflight could feel it in his paws; something would happen that day.

His thoughts were confirmed when two cats arrived in MudClan. The first was Silverpaw. "I'm sorry." She announced when she entered the cave. "I'm so sorry for leaving MudClan. I want to come home! My mate and I are expecting kits."

Owlflight felt excitement bubbling in his chest. Kits meant a possible new start to MudClan. But that wasn't the only reason he was excited; her mate was a stone grey tom with odd colored paws.

Before he could react to seeing the cat, Robinpaw let out a squeal and bursted out of the apprentices den, plummeting right into the new cat.

Owlflight's thoughts were confirmed. He knew who this cat was. As he walked over to the two cats, he heard Robinpaw speaking. "How did you survive the river? We thought you were dead!"

"I was saved. Some.. Cat, I don't know who, pulled me out." Stone replied.

"We have so much to tell you!" Cloud spoke from behind Owlflight. "I can't believe it. We-"

"Silverpaw!" Moonbeam's voice echoed around the cave. "Because Stripedstar is ill, I am in charge. Stripedstar long put off your warrior ceremony.. But I think it is time for both you and Spiderpaw to become warriors."

"If you don't mind, Moonbeam, I would like it if Stone and I became warriors together." Silverpaw said.

"You can't! He hasn't been trained in the ways of a warrior!" Flamefur snapped. He was ignored.

"Very well. We need as many warriors as we can get." Moonbeam said. She called out the familiar words of a warrior ceremony, then ended by announcing their warrior names. Silverpaw would be known as Silverwing. Stone would be known as Stoneclaw, and Spiderpaw would be known as Spidereye.

"I don't think we have enough warriors.. Still." Stripedstar muttered. "Silverwing is in the nursery, so she can't be a warrior. I think we should make the apprentices warriors."

Owlflight and his leader were sat outside the camp, watching guard for any of Bloodshed's followers. "All of them?" He asked, a bit surprised that Stripedstar would ever make them apprentices so soon.

"No. Firepaw.. I don't trust her. The border issues with GreenClan are terrible, I can't trust a former GreenClan cat yet." The leader decided. "The others will become warriors."

"So.. Cloudpaw, Coldpaw, and Robinpaw?"

"Yes. They will make good warriors, don't you think?"

"Of course." Owlflight stood up. "Let's go tell them?"

Stripedstar stood up, leaping on top of her den to make an announcement. She didn't have to summon the clan; they had already gathered below her. She looked closely at Coldpaw, who was fiddling with his paws. Owlflight could see the distrust in the leader's eyes, sending chills up his spine.

She wasted no time. Cloudpaw was named Cloudpool, Coldpaw named Coldwind, and as Owlflight had requested, Robinpaw was given the suffix Wing in honor of Skywing; Robinwing.

He felt pride as well as terror creeping under his fur. His kits were warriors; but at what cost? Firepelt had never wanted this. She would be so mad. He closed his eyes, his heart aching for his dead mate all over again. She should be here. She didn't have to die.. Bloodshed should have never killed her. This is all his fault.

One day, Owlflight decided, I will get my revenge.
