'Dear the people of the future,'I began to write in my small book,'I've been through a lot..we were a group of six, and well...now we're two..Things changed...nothing stays the same as the mayor of the town said before we all went crazy....let me explain how it all went down..'

Lena's pov.

Today was the day! The mayor is going to vanish all those damned creatures that are secretly disguising themselves as humans. In this world, there are some abnormal creatures that live among us. Of course, they can act like any other human being, but truly...they're monsters on the inside.

  "And so i created a new modern device that could tell who's a monster and who's not."The mayor announced on the microphone.

I looked over at my friends who were not having a pleasant time. Angela didn't look well, Genji was fumbling with his hands, Hana was biting her lip, and Jesse was shaking. I don't get it,this will be a good thing. I glanced to the side to see Fareeha smiling nervously. Is everyone okay?

  "Remember...no monster is good...and no monster will ever be one of us...The devices will be passed out to every house in town. If you ever track down a monster, whether they're a friend, family, neighbor...it doesn't matter..you have to turn them in! Now dismissed."

Well this sounds easy. I bet i could track those evil skunks!

"You guys alright?"I asked my friends who were still hesitating,"okay lets go back.."

  As we entered the rented house, everyone kinda drifted to their rooms. Just yesterday we were having fun, and laughing at each other...so what makes it different today?

I usually knock when i enter any of my friend's rooms but i forgot to when i walked in on Jesse taking some pills...well this is odd.

"Lena! Whats the rule?"He shifted the bottle of pills behind his back.

I furrowed my brows."Knock...You take diet pills for your lil belly?"

"Oh...uh yeah..For my belly."He shrugged.

Weird...Jesse would laugh or at least chuckle when he says something 'funny'

I walked out the cowboy's room and left to see Angela.Maybe she'll tell me whats up. Right when i opened the door slightly...i saw something that i think i was not supposed to see..

"Ange...la?"

No it cant be Angela. How could it be Angela??Just seconds ago she was wearing those jeans and the red T-shirt...now...she looks different.

"YOU'RE ONE OF THEM?!"I yelled, grabbing the nearest object which was a broom.

"Shhh...Lena! B-be quiet!"

How can i be quiet? My friend..Angela...is a witch??Shes one of those abnormal creatures!

"Why didn't you tell me??Please tell me it's a costume...please...Angela it can't be true...right???"I had so many questions in my head that were just getting blurted out loud. All those years i thought Angela was just like any other human being...turns out its a lie..

She stayed quiet and rubbed her arm."I-...It's not...I know...Witchcraft..or mainly Witches in general are to be burned....but i beg you Lena..do not tell them i'm a witch!"She had a painful expression that made me feel regret.

Thats right. The device could track any monster and if it tracks her..she'll be burned into ashes. See, any other monster will be stabbed or hung but witches..they were rare. They are to be burned. Stabbing doesn't work with them.

"Why did you keep this a secret?...-i don't want you to leave!"I didn't realize the tears falling down my cheeks. My eyes were red, probably because i was really tired.

Angela stepped closer to me then gave me a weak smile."Sleep."By a finger snap, my whole body became numb. Guess she put a spell on me to sleep. I want to sleep...forever.

Next day. I did wake up with a strong headache but my body felt great. I feel like i slept for years. Then..it all came back to me from yesterday. Angela is a witch..

I got up and went to the livingroom to see everyone eating breakfast. None of us even spoke a word to each other..Genji would be talking while eating and Angela would scold him but silence..Even Jesse was eating quietly. Hana was cutting her pancakes with a saddened frown and Fareeha..she was eating alone on the floor.

"Is everything alright loves?"I mumbled, earning a glance from them.

"I-i have to go."Suddenly Genji got up and rushed to the bathroom. God, did he hold it in or something?

Next Hana put down her fork and looked up at me with all seriousness."I cant go out today..i cant go to the arcade anymore. None of us can go out now especially after the new invented device, Lena. Cant you tell you dumbass?!?"She got angrier by each word she let out. Am i that oblivious?

"We're not normal..Angela...Genji...Jesse..Hana and even me...we're not normal at all!"Fareeha placed her plate of pancakes on the main table.

"Is this a prank?..."All of them looked down,"this is a prank...right???"Its been 10 years since we've been together. How did i not notice then? How did i not see it coming?

All this time that i've been talking about how i hated monsters and the nasty creatures...turns out my friends are like them?

"If this was a prank then i wouldn't be able to change personalities in three seconds...I get possessed Lena...literally."Fareeha kept her stare at the Tv.

Genji came out of the bathroom from behind me and sighed."Im one of those demons you could say.."

"Im a witch...hard for me to say."Angela sulked in her seat.

"The pills are the only thing that are keepin' me in my normal form....yeah i'm better not to be messed with.."Jesse said after Angela.

"As for me...Im programmed..i was basically made...i get charged...i have a button that could shut me off.....Im robotic...not normal."Hana finished.

My mouth was wide open. Who are these people? These are not my friends..nope...not them.

"Im going to process this as a joke..."

"Processing is my thing."Hana winked.

"DON'T JOKE ABOUT THIS HANA! Do you guys realize if the mayor or if one of those guards find out about you guys then you'll be killed???"I was so close to ripping my hair.

Angela got up from the couch and nudged my shoulder."Forget about it..."She left to the kitchen to wash her plate.

Is anybody taking this seriously?

"I don't want you to leave...not yet..."And here come the tears. I fell on my knees and started (praying;)) crying even harder than last night. Am i effected that much...i mean...they're my friends....they're family...they cant just leave me and disappear forever.

"Chill, we're still here."Fareeha's tone was a bit different from before. Instead of that worried frown, she was grinning.

Fareeha would always change personalities but...i didn't know she gets possessed like that!

"Shut the fuck up Amari. Go back to hell."Genji glared in Fareeha's direction.

Amari? Who possesses her?

"Oh remember that story about 'Ana Amari' and how she was turned into a ghost? Guess what? That's her mother."Hana explained.

"Geeeenjiiiiiii show Lena those fangs and those horns. I bet she'll absolutely love them!"Fareeha crossed her legs and giggled. Creepy..

Genji responded with a grunt."What?you're gonna force me?"

"Enough fighting you two..Honestly bringing the dead back to life was a mistake."Angela leaned on the doorframe.

"You failed Angela. You turned me into a ghost with your witchy skills."Fareeh- or Ana? Spoke.

"Do you guys ever stop arguin'?"Jesse got up and left to the kitchen.

"Young Jesse will turn into a crazy cowboy if he doesn't take his medicine!Awwwwwwwww."Fareeha's voice was mocking rather than annoying.

Did i really know anything about these people? I thought i knew them from the bottom of my heart but...they're so different.

"Sometimes i wanna go out in the open and yell 'i'm different!kill me please!' but i'm not that cruel."Fareeha held in some chuckles.

"Stop it...please stop...this is not like you..."

There was a loud knock at the door. I slowly went to open it and i saw the small box that wrapped the device. Should i? I won't use it...ill just keep it.

I took it in and dashed to my room without any of them noticing. Ill hide it or maybe break it.

I locked the door but i heard them talking about 'important stuff'

Eavesdropping is not a good habit but..i had to know.

'You know that Amélie girl?' I heard Angela say.

'You mean the spider?'Genji replied.

Amélie? Why are they calling her a spider?

'She was hung last week. She was caught by one of her neighbors'

Amélie was what?

'Yep i'm turning myself in. See ya'll in heaven or hell.'Then the voice of that ghost possessing Fareeha said. SHES WHAT??

I almost kicked down my door and ran to Fareeha. I grabbed her wrist and growled."Are you crazy??What are you doing? You could be caught?"

"Listen Lena...There is no escape for us now..its either you living with fear or us offing ourselves for the best. You think we're going to stay with you forever? And it's not my mom speaking...it's me."She harshly snatched her arm away from me.

"Guys are you not gonna say anything??"I looked at Angela, Hana, Jesse and Genji. They were...silent.

"Stay strong~"She slammed the door after she left. That was the last thing i heard from Fareeha and the last time i saw her.

  The next day ~.~.~.~.

Stress. More stress. That will be my new routine for everyday of this long mortality. I rubbed my eyes and stumbled over to the bathroom to wash my face, making sure i'm not dreaming.

My reflection in the mirror was different. The person i saw in the mirror wasn't like the person that was having fun two days ago. Visible eyebags. Puffy eyes. Will i ever be the same again?

I finished from the bathroom and right when i opened the door, i screamed and fell on my back."Who-o-o are you??"

Then it hit me. Genji. Genji that had fangs and two horns. Blood colored eyes and black hair."What? Thought you would get use to it hehe!"

"Do you even have a soul?"Just yesterday one of our friends was killed or gone forever and he's acting like it's just like any other normal day.

"Do demons have souls or emotions? Makes sense to why i never felt any attraction to any of you guys."He sheepishly grinned,"come on Lena..We all knew Fareeha was never normal! She hated her whole life after all...She never liked getting possessed by her own mother..now she can be free for once."

I looked down at my feet."But without her mom possessing her then..she's like any other human being...She's not different from me.."

"You're saying us, abnormals are not like you guys?What are we psychopaths? Have you ever sensed any kind of evil aura from any of us?"Genji rose a brow.

"N-no! That's not what i me-'I tried to clear things up but Genji didn't even give me the chance to finish.

"Wouldn't be surprised if you turned one of us in."

"I- I didn't mean to say it like that!"

  And no one listened.

I opened the fridge to get my breakfast which was yogurt. If Angela doesn't make pancakes then we end up drinking/eating Yogurt. I wasn't sure if it was me or the yogurt that tasted bad.

"Angela is the Yogurt expired?"I asked but remembered that no one was even sitting in the living room.

Guess i will be alone today..

Seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into hours. I didn't realize i fell asleep on the couch with the yogurt hanging from my hand. When i opened my eyes, i saw Hana panicking.

"Lena?Lena???Genji..he got caught!"

I sat up quickly."WHAT?!HE WENT OUT THE HOUSE?"

Hana nodded."What should we do?!"

What can we do?Nothing at all.

"Hana we cant do anything!You guys are not normal so you cant go out!"

"Are we really giving up?"She shook me by my shoulders,"WEREN'T WE THE BEST OF FRIENDS!?"

We were but again nothing stays the same. I doubt all of them. All of my friends."Hana...have you seen Jesse's room?Have you seen the pill bottles and the scratch marks on the wall? Genji is a demon...He doesn't have a soul...Hana...we are friends but..we'll never be like before."

She backed away from me."Now you're the monster Lena...You're really mean!"Hana ran away while whimpering.

Ugh..i'm pathetic."Sorry Fareeha...Genji...Angela..."

Next day ~

Am i even Lena anymore? How did it turn out like this? I told on...my own best friend.
The next morning i woke up with some static noises in my ear. It was making me hit my head on the wooden part of the bed. God what is this?

I walked to my closet, still holding my head from the noise. There it was sitting, the device.

"It will go away!"

Once i turned on the device, a small green light started glowing. Is it broken?

I didn't have time to examine what was wrong with the device when guards broke down my door and cuffed my hands."Wait what's happening?!"

"We caught the human and the witch."The guard pressed a button on his ear and looked down at me,"You have a lot of explaining to do."

Explaining?

Wait..the device..it tracked down Angela's location but what about Jesse and Hana?

I don't even know what happened? me and Angela were just dragged to the mayor's building.

"I admit...i live with a witch...but she's nice and goo-'I was stopped by the mayor.

"Nice? Witches are disgusting! Bring her in!"He demanded in anger as Angela was brought in by two guards by her side.

She didn't dare to look my way...and i didn't want her to. My life is now filled with regret..sorrow...sadness. Did i mean to tell on her? No..i never meant for that to happen!

I was dragged back by some other guards and now Angela's figure began to fade away from my sight. I have to do something! The two guards were powerful and i'm a weakling."LET ME GO!"I don't want her to leave, not yet.

After some struggling, i managed to break myself free. I took off running to where they always burn the witches. The center of the town. That was where the last witch Zenyatta was burned.

  "STOP WAIT! ANGELA!"I already knew i was going to be late. I tried to accelerate my speed but when i reached the center of the town, there was already smoke in the air.

The smell of the smoke reminded me of all those happy yet painful memories..the memories of how i met Angela...of how we became best friends...of how we shared almost every moment together. Why did i turn on that device?Was i afraid of someone?...was it my fault?

  "PLEASE STOP!"My loud screech didn't come near the hateful loud comments. I was alone in my own bubble now. No matter how much i screamed...shes gone now.

  "A-Angela...i-im sorry! Genji....i'm sorry...Fareeha...come back to me!...i'm sorry..."Again i could feel those tears burning my face. I scrunched my nose and stifled all those sobs i wanted to release...its...too late now.

"Ill do anything...just for you guys to come back..."At time like these...i wish if i could go back in time and fix my mistakes. I wish if i could go back.

"Stay strong~.."

  It was turning dark by each minute that passed. When they put out the fire...all i could see is darkness..dullness..

The sky was clear and all i could think of is Fareeha and Angela talking about the weather almost everyday. I'd rather listen to them talk about the weather every hour just if i could get them back.

How am i going to go back to the house? Im sure Hana and Jesse hate me already...so where could i go?

And i knew where i would return. I opened the door to the house to only be greeted by nothingness. Silence. Im sure Jesse is sleeping and Hana is crying..if she can.

"Hana...Jesse?"I called out in a whisper. No answer.

I got in my room and just closed my eyes. I closed them as tight as i could. I was so bothered by everything that happened in these past couple of days. I cant bring back the dead, i wish though.

"The war between the abnormals and us ,humans was settled...And that's how it ended. Me, Jesse and Hana are still together. We talk but not like before...although i still do miss Fareeha...Angela...Genji...but...they're gone...the end.."
