Chapter 39: Shock, Shock & More Shock.

Felix's POV

Alice had fallen asleep on Mark, it was so cute! (#scute) We all looked at each other in amusement, Mark laughed silently and glanced at her, being careful not to wake her up. Jack asked a unusual but quite truthful question.

"Have you noticed that she seems a little weak quite often?" Jack spoke quietly, his Irish accent making him sound louder, but not loud enough to wake up Alice.

"Not really..." Ryan shook his head in shame. Mark nodded slightly as if in agreement.

"I have... Well, kinda.." Mark sighed in sadness and looked to the ground, keeping his mouth sealed shut.

"Do you know something?" I inquired quietly, crossing my arms and glancing at him with Ryan and Jack.

"I..--" Mark was cut off when he saw Alice lift her head in sleepiness and lie on the other side in a dreamy daze.

"I'll... Show you..." Mark mumbled reluctantly, he silently moved over to Alice's left arm and gently rolled up her sleeve, revealing a long dark scar and several of them scattered along her arm.

Mark gulped silently as Jack, Ryan and I glanced at each other in shock. I saw Ryan clenching his fists, oh no... Not again...

"So what you're saying is, she's been self-harming and you haven't uttered a damn word about it!" Ryan hissed, anger lacing each syllable he spoke of. He grabbed Mark by the collar of his jacket, me and Jack got up quickly, trying to refrain Ryan, who was suspending Mark mid-air.

"Stop it Ryan!" I whispered angrily, pulling him back.

"I was the one who tried to stop her! Like what happened with Ashley!" Mark debated, knocking sense into Ryan.

Ryan eventually held himself back and huffed, burrowing his head in his hands. "Tell us next time..."

"She didn't want me to! What was I supposed to do?!" Mark half-yelled, half-whispered, his face full of worry, but mainly frustration.

"...." There was a long awkward silence before Alice woke up, we heard her gasp and shuffle backwards, hiding her arm.

"W-What's going on?" She trembled in fear, worried about the next word to be said.

Mark sighed silently and sat next to Alice, "We saw your left arm..." He muttered.

"Y-You... H-How?!" Alice was a little freaked out, but Mark managed to calm her down.

"I-I'm sorry, but they had to know.." Mark uttered, his arm around Alice in comfort.

"Have you been self-harming?" Jack composed himself so he wouldn't seem demanding or angry. He spoke with softness and bent down to her level.

Alice glanced at all of us and then down at her left arm, before nodding feebly. We all looked at each other and then back at her, Mark pulled her in for a hug as a sign of reassurance.

"It's alright... You just need to let us know when you feel like that, we can help you if you tell us.." Mark spoke with softness, they were definitely getting close.

"So, what time would we need to leave this small camp of ours to get to Ailmoor?" Jack asked quickly, trying to swiftly change the subject.

"We leave tomorrow morning.." I sighed, "Hopefully the camp isn't full of cannibals; otherwise that's like a death trap waiting to unfold.." I crossed my arms and sat on my sleeping bag. Crazily, it was already 10pm.

Everyone decided to get an early night and we all drifted to sleep...

The Next Morning...

Normal POV

As the dawning sun began to rise, it cracked past dried leaves and the hollow trees, if only they knew how much time they really had. Little did they know, the walkers actually had some sense in their infected skulls, somehow; one way or another, they had reunited together and now they were slowly but surely making their way across the Northern area of America. The group would have to get to Camp Ailmoor in Atlanta within a week, but they had a good 500 miles still to go, would they make it? Well, let's find out...

Mark's POV

I was one of the first to wake up, the sun was already shining through our not so spacey rest-stop. I frantically but quietly grabbed my iPhone, checking the time. 9:49. Shit.

"Guys! Wake up!" I hissed, shaking Felix and Jack at the same time. They groaned like they didn't want to get up, I smirked but continued to awake them.

"What time is it?" They both muttered in unison, rubbing their eyes and stretching.

"Quarter to nine.." I spoke with slight awkwardness, due to how late it was.

"Shit, really?!" Felix hissed, shooting up.

I nodded and scratched the back of my neck. After everyone had finally woke up, we grabbed our remaining supplies and left the secluded camp area.

We must've walked for miles, there was still no change in the surroundings, and where the hell were the walkers, we can't have killed them all. That's not possible! After a considerable amount of hours from walking, there were two guys in front of us. One was taller than the other and they were both covered in dirt marks and cuts, an eery sadness carried about them. We all looked at each other, these guys needed help..
