Chapter 46: Christmas Special
~again, as this is a side story, it takes place somewhat out of the timeline of the plot, so enjoy and don't question~
~from (y/n)'s POV~
I really hope they all come...you thought to yourself as you set plates on the table. I really want to do Christmas together with everyone...
Just then, the doorbell rang, and you rushed to answer it. You opened the door and smiled at your guests. "Hanji! Sasha! Eren! I'm glad you could all come!" you said joyfully, and Eren blushed as Hanji winked at him and came in.
"Of course we came! (Y/n) is one of my dearest friends, after all!" Hanji exclaimed, and Sasha just nodded to that sentiment. She turned to Eren, nudging him in the gut rather hard in a way that looked painful. "Eh, Eren? Right? We're all really close friends?"
He glared at Hanji before straightening up and trying to smile at you directly before blushing and looking away. "Thanks so much for inviting me, (y/n), really," he said, and you smiled back innocently.
"Thanks for coming, Eren! You're all my important friends." With that, you went back to your preparations.
"Ouch," Hanji whispered to Eren, who looked depressed. "You just got friend-zoned."
He glared at her.
The doorbell rang again.
"I'll get it," Eren offered, and you smiled at him gratefully. Still blushing, he went over to the door and opened it. "Himuro-senpai," he greeted, and Himuro nodded before coming in, looking confused.
"I wasn't aware that anyone else was invited," he said, but your kind smile erased his apprehension. "Not," he clarified, "that that's a problem."
This time, when the door opened, there was no accompanying ring of the doorbell, because the final guest had his own key...
"What are all of these freaks doing in my apartment?" Levi snapped, glaring at (y/n), who smiled apologetically.
"I wanted us all to spend Christmas together, so I invited everyone over."
Levi pointed at the assembled guests. "Get them out. NOW."
You sweat-dropped. "But, Levi, they're our friends and family-"
He just scoffed. "These people aren't my friends, and besides, who said I wanted to spend Christmas with family?"
You teared up and Himuro turned to Levi, angry. "(Y/n) obviously went to a lot of work to gather everyone together! Can't you at least pretend to be civil for one day?"
"Which reminds me," Levi said, glaring at him, "you're not my friend or my family, and you're not blood-related to (y/n), either."
And that was the last straw. With that, Himuro punched Levi in the face, and you gasped.
"Himuro! Levi!" You weren't sure which brother to run to, so you kept your distance.
Levi had recovered by this point and looked up at Himuro, his lip bleeding, and he let the blood coagulate. "Bastard," he spat out, glaring intensely at your step-brother.
Himuro just glared back, inch for inch. "Yeah? Well, at least I don't practice domestic violence and abuse."
Levi gritted his teeth and punched Himuro back, giving him a matching bloody lip. "At least I can protect (y/n) from rapists that were only running around in the streets in the first place because somebody never properly dealt with him."
You stared in horror at Levi. "How could you bring that up, Levi? It's Christmas!" Your tears were only managing to remain in your eyes by sheer willpower. Although you'd recovered from Haizaki's attack, by no means were you emotionally comfortable with what had happened. You still had nightmares sometimes...
Levi just kept glaring at Himuro. "Yeah? Well, if it weren't for me, things would have been worse."
You went up to both Levi and Himuro and hit them on the head. Then you saw the darkness on Levi's face and you winced.
"Gomenasai~"
Himuro sighed and smiled at you. "You're right, (y/n). It's Christmas. We shouldn't be fighting." He looked over at Levi to see his reaction.
Levi just kind of growled. "Tch. Fine. Whatever." Suddenly, he glared at you. "Wait a second, (y/n). You did not enter my sacred kitchen, did you?"
You cringed, smiling. "Eh..."
He narrowed his eyes at you. "I'm going to grill Buttons for tomorrow's dinner."
"NOT BUTTONS!" you protested, tugging on his shirt. "Don't kill the kitten! Onegai, nii-san?" you asked, peering up into his eyes desperately.
After only a second, Levi succumbed to your sparkles. Blushing slightly, he looked away. "F-fine, brat."
"Awwww~" Hanji said, taking a picture, and Levi immediately tried to destroy the camera, but Hanji was holding it out of his reach.
Sasha started eating as chaos descended, and she looked fairly content.
Eren was blushing madly, and he went up to you, unable to meet your eyes. "(Y/n)...Merry Christmas," he said, still looking down.
Curious, you opened Eren's gift and blushed slightly as well. Inside a small box was a beautiful necklace with a small silver bell.
He shuffled his feet slightly. "I wanted to get you something nice, but I don't shop for girls often, and...you're afraid of a lot of things, so..." He looked up, his eyes suddenly fierce. "So if you're ever scared, and you need me, just ring the bell, okay? And I promise I'll come!"
You looked up at him with tears in yours eyes and hugged him tightly. "Thank you so much, Eren!"
He blushed but hugged you back awkwardly. "You're welcome, (y/n)."
Himuro was standing next to you when you two separated, a serene smile on his face. "Would you like me to put it on for you, (y/n)?"
You nodded happily and turned around so he could fix the clasp around your neck, and as he was putting it on, he turned and glared intensely at Eren.
When finished, you turned around and beamed at Eren and Himuro. "So? How does it look?"
Both boys blushed and looked in different directions, Eren down, and Himuro to his right. "It looks beautiful on you," Himuro said, and Eren just nodded.
Smiling, you went over and sat down next to Sasha.
"It tastes good," she said, then turned to look at you critically. "I'm guessing you didn't make it?"
You winced but grinned. "Yeah...You got me."
She shrugged and smiled. "Thanks for the food!"
"GIVE ME THAT CAMERA!" Levi yelled, and you turned to see Hanji standing on the couch, the camera raised above her head.
"No way!" she said, laughing. "You looked so cute, you midget!"
Uh oh...
"WHAT'D YOU JUST CALL ME?"
"MIDGET, MIDGET!"
***
Christmas dinner ended with minimum casualties and damage to property.
Also, the photo of Levi blushing is still out there~
And Buttons was not injured in the writing of this chapter ^_^
