Chapter 19: Blood is Thicker Than Water

~from Levi's POV~
Damn it damn it DAMN IT ALL TO HELL
The one time that Hanji's being serious, I didn't listen.
(Y/n) was right in front of me, but I couldn't see past her smile at all.
Maybe Himuro was the better brother for the job, but...
...I'm here now, and I'll have to do.

"Levi Ackerman," I whispered in Haizaki's ear. "Forget about (y/n) and remember my name instead as the guy who beat the living hell out of you."
"Why do you even care?" Haizaki spat back at me. "What's this stupid bitch have to do with you?"
I don't know where I'd previously drawn the line of separation between (y/n) and I, but right now, I wasn't dealing with any of this guy's shit.
Not hesitating, I swung my leg at him, catching him in the jaw with a high kick and forcing him to stumble to his right as first pain registered and then anger took over. When he rushed at me, I used my elbow to jab his face before grabbing his shoulders and kneeing him in the stomach. Normally, my eyes would have been cold and distant, but this was far too personal. Instead, they burned with fiendish anger as I grabbed his hair, yanked his head up, and drove my knee into his forehead before kicking him in the side with enough force to cause him to moan.
Seeing as he was down for the count, at least for the moment, I strode over to (y/n), trying in vain to calm my movements and expression, but it was no good. My hatred was what was moving me right now, and with Haizaki no more than a few feet (/meters) away, it wouldn't dissipate.
To my relief, (y/n) seemed to have gone unconscious. However, my relief vanished when I noticed her shirt, torn off and thrown a few feet away. Smoothly slipping off my own (jacket/shirt), I quickly clothed (y/n), but when I stood up, I saw it.
Her face was stained with tears.
While this bastard had attempted to have his way with her, she had been crying...begging...
And I almost walked away.
With a newfound rage, I turned back to Haizaki, who was just getting back up.
"This is going to hurt a lot for you," I murmured before grinning. "But I can promise you that it will be very fun for me."
Before he had a chance to prepare himself (or, more likely, run away), I kicked him directly in the abdomen, delighting in the audible crack as a rib bone snapped. Still moving, I used my momentum to chop him under the neck before elbowing him right between the shoulder blades and forcing him back down to the ground, his face bleeding and his breathing ragged.
"Please...don't...do this to me," he pleaded, but my eyes only burned brighter.
"Isn't that what (y/n) said?" I asked, the fuel of my hatred only growing larger. With a growl, I picked him back up, ignoring his moans of pain, dragged him over to the alley wall, and smashed his head against the brick, once, twice, twenty times, until it suddenly became not a question of how long will he be hospitalized but will he even make it to the hospital in time.
Tossing him aside like the trash he was, I stalked back over to (y/n) and carefully picked her up in my arms, bridal style, and walked out of the alley, pausing only to rub my foot against Haizaki to clean my shoe of blood.

~from Himuro's POV~
...threw paper.
"Looks like we're forming a search party," Hanji said, but as I opened the door, intending to head out, someone else - scratch that, two someones - were already walking through.
"Who- Levi?" Hanji asked, doing a double take while I just stood there.
Finally, I snapped back to reality. "(Y/n)! Is she...all right?" I asked softly, only able to stare at her in Levi's arms. What happened? Why is she unconscious?
"I met that f**king Shougo Haizaki," Levi summed up succinctly, the acid in his voice matching the fire in his eyes.
Hanji and I both instantly paled, although Eren still seemed out of the loop.
"The transfer student?" he asked curiously, confusion painted over his features.
"No, the rapist," Levi snapped, with only Eren taking it as sarcasm.
"What happened?" I asked Levi, following him into his own room, where he laid her on his bed.
"Haizaki grabbed her on the way home from school, but I didn't notice until a few minutes later, when I went back to look for her and found-"
"What do you mean, you didn't notice? How do you not notice?" I demanded, confusing fear for anger, but Levi didn't seem mad at me.
"I know, Himuro. I failed (y/n). I get it, okay?" He stared at the ground intensely before continuing on. "He hadn't done much of anything by the time I got there, and he won't be moving around anytime soon."
"What did you do to him?" I asked, eyes wide with caution.
"Beat the hell out of him," Levi answered shortly. "He's probably struggling to breathe right now."
"Did you call the police?"
Levi frowned. "No. That'd be too nice."
I couldn't even force a smile. "True, but I can't let him die." I went to Hanji, who was still in the kitchen with Eren, and told her to report an injured student to the police before turning back to Levi. "And...about beating him up..." Levi stiffened, but a true smile slid over my face as my eyes watered and tears began pouring down my face. "Thank you...thank you so much," I whispered, clenching my hands at my sides. "I wanted to...I wanted to kill Haizaki after what he did, but I couldn't do it, no matter how angry I was."
"You just saved that bastard's life," Levi intoned in a detached voice.
"I know," I said, tears still streaming down my face. "I know, but I wanted him to suffer, and now he has. Killing him doesn't help (y/n)."
"Well, it'd sure make me happier," he muttered.
