Separate Lives (Matt & Becky)
It took a few weeks but Becky and Matt finally got everything unpacked in their new house. He thought they could finally rest but nope. Becky wanted to work on ideas for the wedding.
"For the last time. We are not having a steam punk themed wedding." Matt threw his head back and groaned. He and his fiancée have been going back and forth about this for hours.
"C'mon! It'll be cool. I can come running down the aisle, throwing up the horns, while steam shoots up from the floor." Becky got excited by the thought, that she started jumping on the couch.
"I'm going to marry a lunatic."
She cleared her throat, "Steam Punk Princess."
"Oh my god. You don't know the first thing about planning a wedding."
"True." Becky looked through her notebook where she had been writing her ideas. "What if we get a wedding planner?"
"Ok. See who you can find."
"How about David Tuatara?" Becky suggested. "If you even know who that is."
"Dude!" he stood up, "I fucking love 'My Fair Wedding'! I recorded the episodes I missed while I was on tour and binge watched them when I got home." Becky raised her eyebrow, not having a single clue that her 'macho' fiancé liked wedding shows. "I mean... Kaitlyn likes that show and uhh... the cousin bond is very important."
Becky chuckled, "Yeah sure. Whatever you say."
The engaged couple stopped talking when they heard Jade start crying over the baby monitor. "I got her."
Becky loved how Matt always volunteered to take care of Jade whenever she cried or needed a diaper change. When he said that he would make things up to her after tour, he wasn't joking. She really appreciated everything he was doing for them. Becky was sure that she was marrying the perfect man, well, perfect man in her eyes.
She watched Matt from Jade's doorway as he rocked his fussy daughter and started singing the song 'Dear God' that he wrote for Becky and Jade while he was traveling.
"🎤Dear God, the only thing I ask of you
is to hold her when I'm not around
When I'm much too far away
We all need that person who can be true to you
I left her when I found her
Now I wished I stayed
Cuz I'm lonely
And I'm tired
Of missing you again
Once again🎤."
Matt sang in a soft, soothing voice, calming down his beautiful daughter. Jade giggled, reaching her chubby arm towards her fathers face. He held her tiny hand in his and pretended to nibble her hand, making Jade squeal in joy and laughter.
Becky felt her self wanting to cry, but she managed to hold the tears back. She could not wait to share the rest of her life with this man.
Matt walked towards her with Jade wide awake in his arms, "I think she's hungry. There's bottles in the fridge, right?"
"Yeah." Becky nodded. "I'll heat it up." she turned around, not wanting Matt to see her watery eyes.
He reached her hand, "What's wrong, Bex?"
She shook her head, "Nothing. I just can't wait to marry you."
Matt smiled, leaning down and kissed her. "I'm excited too." he looked at Jade and bounced her in his arms, "You excited for mommy and daddy to get married too?" Jade started giggling. "See, she's ready too." he turned around to leave to the kitchen.
Becky leaned against the shady white wall, "He's such a dork."
